Poco F1 After 11.0.9 update(Not MiUi12) dialer not opening. - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Apologies guys as this may be a very small problem with very small solution but somehow I spent over an hour trying to make it work but I couldn't. This phone is on stock MiUi and even the bootloader is not unlocked. Elaboration:
1. Before update dialer functioned okay, I had restricted maybe one or two permissions like Location but still it worked.
2. After Update I got to know google had my location history 'on' so being a privacy freak I turned it 'off' (I know they can still get the location, but atleast not where I was 6months ago now).
3. I didn't find any other issue post update but I hadn't tried to open dialer yet;
When I tried it said required permission has been not allowed and it just wouldn't open. Sms app worked fine, contacts and dialer didn't.
4. Them I tried giving the 'contacts & dialer' app all the permissions it required via the settings ->apps-> Contacts & dialers -> permissions, including the location which is I haven't allowed on my other Poco F1(yes I have 3 at home, all purchased before COVID time) and the same update was already on that phone and it works fine.
For now I have a third party dialer app installed which does the work, it would be very helpful if someone could help me getting the original dialer to work. And yes I know Mi sucks with things like this and bloatware I might install Lineage or something in months to come but this belongs to my father he might not want his phone to be unable to operate banking apps and wallets so on hold for now.
Thanks already guys.

Not sure but try to clear all data of the "contacts and dialer" app first (Settings -> apps -> manage apps -> contacts and dialer).
If it doesn't work then I suggest you re-download the latest update and install it again. (Settings -> about phone -> system update -> the three dots menu -> download latest package).

Go to "menage apps" -> "phone services" and force stop it. Then Open "storage" and clear the data.. Then do the same in "call manager" (i think thats the name in inglish). The 2 apps haver a phone símbolo. Then restart you Poco F1. Turn it completly off and turn ir on again.
Worked with me..

You have disabled a required permission. Tried what both of you suggested above except for reinstalling the update. Not resolved

Didn't work, but I'm a little sceptical about download latest package and installing, never done it before so. I tried the other solution you have but didn't solve the problem.

First of all downloading the latest package is just the same as installing a normal update, no difference at all.
Second, I think to avoid all this hassle; you might need to do factory default/factory reset.. But of course before doing that you have to write down all your accounts login data (especially Mi account and Google account) and also backing up your personal data (photos, docs, music, videos downloads,...etc.) as it will be deleted when you do this factory reset.. But this will eventually solve all these problems.

I was hoping to avoid Factory Reset, and all the efforts and time associated with doing it but I'm being sure by the days that pass, of there being no other alternative for me. I'm so fed up of Xiaomi after this. Once a stable Lineage or PE comes after MiUi 12 upgrade I'll lose no time to this. Also out of 4 phones in my home 3 are Poco F1 and the last one was Lenovo zuk till Feb and Vivo since, but non Mi phone doesn't get as many ads on YT and Instagram (virtually none on insta when I get one ad every 10-15posts, despite of having not allowed similar permission to Mi during setting up of my phone).

So I spent good time backing up and reloading after factory reset. The problem is solved costing me alot of time and effort for backup and stuff.
So basically problem solved by a factory reset.

this is getting annoying, just flashed lpD from scratch and yet again its happening again, what the hell is downloading here
Use other network monitoring apps like 3g watchdog and check the showing informations is correct.
also you can check with your Network provider, whether this truely happens or not.
Are you allowing google to sync your account? It may be downloading all your apps in the background (Or updating them)
I never tick any of the options after flashing/when setting the phone up...no background downloads
If it was me, I would be paranoid and think that somebody was hacking into my phone

err...why?
Sounds like your Play store updating your apps in the background. Put data or wifi on and open play store, press menu key and go to 'my apps'. If they're downloading click on the 'x' on the top right of the screen to 'stop all'.
You can also check settings --> Data Usage to see whats eating your data, its a feature of ICS
by the way how many apps u got????
what does the built in data usage app reports?? if the problem persists still after a full wipe then it may be (may be) a malware. so if you are sure its not because of sync or some other app then you can try formatting data, system along with your internal sd and external sd from cwm before flashing a new rom.
i agree with everyoen above. it might be google just syncing information
Ok here what happens, when ever I flash a new stock ROM after wipe, right after I log in using google, it start happening.
No its not my apps
As you can see its not play store either.
I checked it multiple times now.
Exact 90MB got downloaded every time.

I'll try 3g watch dog, but thing is I only have edge, so I switch to wifi just to pass this phase every time.

Just round 10 apps, and it happens after that as 10apps takes like 5 mins to finish.

Ok I'm trying it again, will full wipe, remove sdcard, flash using Odin, lets see what happens
No nothing changed, removed sdcard, full wiped, flash new lpd using Odin.
Right after I sign in though I have UN tick the auto restore option, it started and right nite its at 40 mb, it will stop at 90mb.
I'm assuming something got backup to google and now every time I sign in, it comes back like the contacts.
Is there any way I know what and where its storing the filles.
Does any one know a way to wipe google account from their servers, like the screen shot.
This is wiping some stuff not all, as after signing in, I don't get my last apps or stored passwords anymore but that 90mb still comes.

it seems something is blocking my phone from accessing google's server. but i can access google search from the web browser
i've tried all solutions i can think of including restarting, clearing cache and dalvik, switching from wifi to data and vice versa. but its still showing the same message. i even removed my google account and try adding it back but the same message show, so now my phone don't have a google account connected to it, it's like totally being denied from google's services
What about trying a different account (I don't see it listed)? Or just call them
Have you checked your apn settings?

i don't have a different account. even if i do create a new 1, all my contacts, apps will be lost because i sync-ed it to my usual account. anyway i tried creating a new 1, same problem, it seems something is blocking my connection to google

in the phone? i'm not aware of the steps. how do i do that?
BTW this phone have been with me since last year, everything is going fine. i only have this problem from last week, not sure what messed up
the starting problem is a NO CONNECTION error to the playstore., so i tried solving it by clearing cache from playstore, force stopping it, and even reinstalling it but still the same. so in the end i tried removing my google account and adding it back.....and here comes this problem
Settings/more settings/networks/apn.......check them against your provider settings......you can get those online or phone provider, alternatively contact Google, it might be their problem

i don't think it's google's problem, i have friends with the same phone with me, living in the same country and they can access google services with no problem
Try clearing play store data and Google services framework data and try logging in to play again, reboot first though

already tried all those steps before i decided to remove my google account and re-adding it.
i've checked my APN as well, nothing is wrong there. infact if the APN is the culprit i wouldn't be able to connect if im running on mobile network only, but now even on wifi i'm not able to connect
I would contact Google, might just be a glitch on your account?

Whatsapp problem

Hello to everyone
I would like to ask for your help ...
Today I upgraded my phone ( z3 compact) to marshmallow and consequently I did a factory data reset.
When I try to do a restore of whatsapp chat from google drive it appears this message " impossible to restore messages , check the Internet connection on your phone and tap Retry to restore " and every time I try to tap Retry It always appears the same message even if my connection goes normally and it works with any app .
What can I do? whatsapp find the backup but i can't restore it.
Thanks to everyone in advance and sorry for my bad english
please help asap
I have the same problem. I did the factory reset on my galaxy s5, installed whatsapp and get this error message -
Couldn't restore messages
Check your phone's internet connection and tap Retry to restore.
whenever i tap on restore it loads couple seconds and then shows the same error message.
The problem is that it happens on bluestacks also, I installed bluestacks and installed Whatsapp on it. I get the same error on it too. I've been trying to find some actual solutions and fixes for this for like 10 days and I have found 0 usefull threads on solutions. I have around 200,000 messages but I have around 400 that I really need. Those are most important messages I'll probably ever have. Please help. Thanks :fingers-crossed:

Hi dear, I am also facing the same problem. I switched to PixelExperience 8.1 ROM for OnePlus 2 for HalogenOS 8.0 and got the same error message. I have a backup size of 1.2GB but unable to restore. Having really important msgs. I tried many things like
- downloaded WhatsApp APK from whatsapp official site and installed
- switched the data network from WiFi to SIM Data and vise-versa
- factory reset the phone a couple times
- got back to the old ROM i.e. Halogen 8.0
but I am still unable to restore my whatsapp msgs. Please help me out. Thanks in advance.
You need to install the exact same version of Whatsapp which was installed previously used for backup.
To check older version of whatsapp (or any other app), Goto Play Store -> My Apps & games -> Library -> Got o Whatsapp -> Click on Details -> See the version (which is you older version of Whatsapp). To see the Whatsapp in Library your unistall the current Whatsapp version.
Anyone found a solution for this?
WhatsApp won't restore backup from Google drive.

Found this via a google search, try giving it a shot and see if it works. Otherwise there are other results and YouTube videos. One of those should point you in the right direction.

Though it would help anyone who would want to try and help if you provided some more information on the nature of the issue and phone.
For example knowing the disposition of the phone (how you got it, is it a demo/retail/company provided/etc), what kind of phone it is (snapdragon, exynos), model of the phone and how MDM was (or would have been) activated on the phone. MDM isn't there for no reason, and it would seem (reading what little I did on those Google Searches) the solutions would kinda seem too tailor towards the reason:
For example:
You work for a company (or of your own accord) that installed Mobile Device Management profiles
This is a demo unit from a store
You installed an application that configured MDM
You may have tried installing firmware (official, custom, unofficial, etc)
well i think im gonna keep using it as demo there is no help any where .exept the 120 usd to drop the file for parmanent remove of that demo .

Hi there. I had the same issue on my samsung Note 10.1 2014 edition I purchased as a demo unit. tried flashing stock ROM using ODIN with no effect and unable to factory reset. finally, this was how I was able to factory reset by tablet with all the retail settings including all the preinstalled videos and images gone.
1. Firstly, your device should be signed into your google account.
2.Enable find my phone in settings
3.Go to your google account (in the same device or different device).
4.Go to devices and select lost device
5.press "consider erasing" device
And Voila, the tablet was reset to stock android with no retail apps or data.
Hope this helps someone.
Thanks

Interesting
But I doubt this flaw will work on latest devices note 8, j7 pro,. Just to mention two of the devices I have got.
Also some MDM implementations will not allow you to enter settings menu.

Question After magisk root & ro2rw fix i get a crazy serviceprovider-update nag screen. Any idea how to fix that one?

Hi Together,
I think something went wrong, but i cant say what.
After using magisk to root (like very often before) and a confirmation that everything should be fine i had to use the ro2rw fix to get rw access. I didnt know that one but got help & a lot of cool info to solve that rw topic. I used the tutorial here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-to-root-23-and-have-full-access-to-system-partitions.4585399/
Shortly after that i get now a crazy serviceprovider-update nag screen. Crazy because it tells that something has to be updated and i have to reboot. And if i click the reboot link it just starts a notification that it cant be updated.
My phone service is fine i can call my landline without any problem. But the blocking everything nag screen still appears. So as a rooted user with android expierence since android 1 i choose my SD Maid App to find the apk that is causing this notification. And after i ended com.samsung.android.cidmanager (2.0.23) the notification on the the top disappeared. But after a reboot the One Ui updated something and there was it back again. And it was running even any autostart reason was disabled. I checked it with 2 apps. There was no autostart that i could remove. And after my next reboot it is running again.
The message in the pic translated from german tells:
"Serviceprovider-Update
Your phone have to be restarted, to setup functions and services of your provider.
. Apps and Layouts might change, after your phone was updated."
Emergency Call
Reboot"

I comes back again and again after 5-60 Min. If i force stop com.samsung.android.cidmanager (2.0.23)
its gone. Removing all "Receiver Manager"/ Autostart also doesnt work. I guess another app calls that service. But i dont know which one.
The notification just tells:
"Serviceprovider-Update
Serviceproviderfunctions could not be setup."
Any idea other than just wipe data/cache and reinstall?
===Edit===
OK a complete new flash and new root was fine until i used the ro2rw script again.
Same Error as before. I guess there is one Service that is causing that nag screen.
Thanks a lot for reading.

Remove CSC Manager from ADB or via Root.
That solves the nagging screen.
@JazonX: Thanks a lot. I found that out by removing the most likely apk and froze all of them with sd maid. But good to know that the bugger was the CSC Manager.
I finally got most stuff that i need working. Did you figure out how to delete the "RO2RW_Super" Folder? I backuped the files inside it on my dektop. But after that I cant delete, move or take the files over. And the .img files are ~23GB in size. So a lot of space. I tryed also to rm -f them in Terminal with su. No chance. Maybe with TWRP?
---edit---
OK TWRP works if you remove any lockscreen stuff. Remove fingers and Pin/Patter (...) and than
it worked on my 2nd try with the integrated filemanager. ;-) 23GB more.
Dont forget that your TWRP Backups on your internal Space wont be there. By the way without any error! I read about that topic but forgot already that it wont work. So it works only with a external device like a usb-c Stick.
