How to copy/install obb with Android 11 (beta) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I open this trying to resolve this problem.
My phone is a Google Pixel 2XL with Android 11 beta.
When I download an apk with obb data I cant copy the obb files to Android/obb folder because the file Explorer app (I used a few) cant get permission to apply changes on this folder Even if I use the app Explorer that comes as defauld.
I want to know if it means that Android 11 won't let install apps out of Playstore anymore or it just is happening to me?
Have someone the metod to can apply changes on this folder?
Thanks and sorry for my english

Is your device rooted?

@Wolff07
OBB-files get stored in /sdcard/Android/obb

Each phone has an storage device named "/sdcard" ( what is standard abbrev. for /storage/emulated/0 ) - that's the internal storage.

Use twrp
Today I faced same for pubg kr...I saw ur post and tried and tried and succeed with twrp......

Do one thing goto playstore and install Google Files if already installed than Hold, goto app info and in last allow "Install unknown app" that's it now you can copy or move in obb or data folder.

Can you please explain how you did it using twrp?

Android 11 does not allow third-party applications to access some system folders, such as /data/ and /obb/. When trying to interact with these folders, the system gives out an error. This is done to improve the security of the system and its protection from possible attacks by intruders.
But you may consider to use ADB to push an extracted .OBB file's folder to phone's /storage/emuated/0/Android/data/obb directory.

Go to playstore and install Files by Google. Then in settings go to apps section and select Files by Google. Change setting to allow changing system settings. Now you can see the content of the obb folder on the internal storage under /Android in the app Files by Google.

My Samsung S10+ is original and not rooted. Just install files by Google. In the android setting go to apps, find files by google and enable changing systemsetting and allow install unknown apps. Then open files by Google find the file you want to copy and point it to the android/obb location.

Use zarchiver app this app will show obb data easily Android 11 has increased the security patch.

Android 11 creator is so f u c k in' stupid

cant even the see obb folder even play store cant access it so I decided to sideload call of duty but there was no obb folder I couldn't even create one so I rebooted to recovery mode>advanced>file manager and it was there but even after moving the files to obb the game didn't work I think even the game cant access the obb folder i am on android 11 [stag os 11.0.R2 unofficial] is there any magisk module for that?

Same dilemma. Screw this security ****. Google learning too much from Apple.

[Q] [Help] Insuficient Storage Available

Yes. I know you're going to tell me to use the search or google, etc. But believe me when I say I have tried a lot already.
I'm getting this error when I try to install or update almost every APK on my Android. SOME will install or update and I can tell you there's nothing to do with file size. The storages seem to have plenty of free space, apps install smoothly when I factory reset my phone, but after a few days I start getting this annoying error.
I'm running the latest Nightly build from CyanogemMod for LG p720h (Yea, it's not stable and I know I should expect some... erm... bugs). It's Android 4.1.2.
I know the Internal Storage is emulated and have tried many many many fixes I found in this very forum and all over the internet. I'm a game developer so I know a few things about adb shell/logcats but couldn't find/understand anything analizing those during an APK install. I can provide logs, etc.
Can anyone help me find out how to solve this problem? Any idea of what's going on?

Is because your phone doesn't have enough ram(storage for apps) to hold those apps. If you have an sd card you can use AppMgr III (App 2 SD):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.app2sd
You can move apps to either internal or external storage

I was able to install this app but it didn't work, it says the primary external storage is emulated. The Storage manager says it has 548mb free space on my internal storage which should be plenty.
And even if I uninstall an app 50mb big I can't install other apps, even if they're 1MB or less. I don't think it has anything to do with "real" available storage.

apps don't use internal storage, they use a partition inside the internal, which is why you dont get all the storage on the box.

without busybox and without script you can create the same directorybind from external to internal memory using LUCKYPATCHER
you need root
install luckypatcher and open it
press tools>directorybind and put the same directories as this thread
work great i use it for gameloft data games or ea and for obb files...

Found Easier Way
1. Install busybox
2.Install Lucky Patcher
3. Open Lucky Patcher and go to Toolbox>Directory Binder
4.Click "Add new Directory Bind"
5.Set "Directory with Data" as /storage/external_SD/Android
6. Set "Mount Data to" as /sdcard/Android
7. Click "Bind Directory"
Now you can download any large games
I already played the gta vice city in my phone

Please note :
Bsybox is not compulsory.
You can`t move any app through settings you can only move obb files to this folder also datas of app
Limitations:
Installing apps having more than 800 MB can lead you to "Out of Space Errors" which u want to restore your phone.Thats what I did

How to move apps to sd card on Xperia Ultra ????

I have a rooted Xperia Ultra with 4.4.4 and I can't move any app to the sd card,. Running out of memory, please help!
With this

I use this to download Spotify offline to sdcard instead of filling up internal memory :silly::good:

"Fun" fact: The Spotify app will automatically choose to save your music on the partition with the most available space, so if you have an SD card over 16GB (free space, that is), it'll save your music there.

Some people will perhaps find useful read some information on Google about how to use the Folder Mount.
If you use Kitkat perhaps you'll also need the JRummy "SD Kitkat Fixer", available on the Google Play.

I am using a Sony Xperia Ultra with 4.4.4. I forgot how I rooted it, I am not an expert followed somebody instructions step by step
So I saw photos when they showing on 4.4.4 Sony has an option to send to sd card next to the app name in the settings.
I tried to follow this thread and I only able to move what in the Android/OBB folder. But I had only 2 games there. So where are the apps located? Why is my Sony doesn't have an option for moving apps to Sd?
hello

This module removes the restriction when selecting folders (Downloads/Android) through the file manager on Android 11 and higher (also available as a Magisk module through Fox Module Manager)
2.0 Update
* Enabled Managed Mode on the DocumentsUI (make sure to apply the module to the Files/Documents app)
* This change allows selecting /data and /obb folders on the Android folder (where as before they were hidden)
### Note
The signature has changed on this version so you'll have to uninstall the previous version before updating

Thanks for getting back to me. Sure thing, here goes:
As you can see, the "data" folder and the "obb" folder are missing. By the way, the first time I tried to move stuff, immediately after installing the app, those folders were actually visible as intended, but once I quit the moving process and tried a second time (and from that moment on) this is what I get

Oh, that's a different restriction (imposed by a different app)
My module is mainly to allow granting access to folders (downloads/Android) where it would normally tell you to create a new folder and not allow you to select that folder
The data/obb folders being hidden is a different thing
You could try this zip, tho it's a bit sloppily made, so i can't guarantee it'll work

2.0 Update released
* Enabled Managed Mode on the DocumentsUI (make sure to apply the module to the Files/Documents app)
This change allows selecting /data and /obb folders on the Android folder (where as before they were hidden)
Note
The signature has changed on this version so you'll have to uninstall the previous version before updating
