looking for a phone easy to upgrade with a custom rom (or preinstalled) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I have a Xiaomi Redmi note 6 (Tulip).
Fews month ago I installed a custom ROM (as usual with all my phones) It has fews bug and now I tried to updated but this is failing big time
and my phone is inoperable at the moment :/
Apparently Xiaomi are not the most convenient to install custom ROM.
So did you have any recommendations of phones who are easy to install custom ROM ?
Or maybe phone sell with preinstalled ROM (without GAPPS !!!!)
Thank you.

If a Custom ROM at 100% matches the phone it should get installed on, then you'll never run into troubles. That's true for all phones available on the market.

Just to let you know that I fixed my problem
but meanwhile I discover this -> https://e.foundation great initiative !

Pointers towards a rom/kernel etc

Hey guys, my mum just gave me her XZU after using it for around 2 years. She faced the annoying ghost clicks for around 6 months before giving up and getting herself a Redmi Note 4. Since I've gotten it, I want to get rid of the ghost clicks by installing a custom ROM and kernel.
I've already downgraded from 5.1.1 to 4.4.4 (14.6.A.0.108) and rooted. I've also unlocked the bootloader, but am hesitant about the next steps. I want to install Tommy-Geenexus' Zombie kernel and have downloaded b9 version of it. How's the kernel/ should i get another one? And which ROM is the most stable/compatible to run with the custom rom? I like the ResurrectionRemix Roms available, but most have some or the other bugs (I know the camera problem is there in almost every rom).

swap rom from xiaomi to global

Hi all, I purchased the redmi 3 when it first came out for the gf. Still going strong, great phone for her.
When I got it it didn't have a global ROM, so I unlocked the boat loader officially and then installed the xiaomi 'global' ROM as an interim
Time has passed and I never got round to switching her to official, which of course is now a new android version ahead.
What's the most painless way of switching her?
If I was to put the official one as a zip file on the phone, could I update using the updater app? Would it lose all her apps and settings?
Any advice / first hand experience welcome. thanks

Any A-Z instructions on how to install custom ROMs on RN4 (Snapdragon) for noobs?

Hello XDA,
Apologies if this doesn't belong here.
So I've been using a Redmi Note 4 for almost a month now(my first time using MIUI). Used to have a Motorola Moto G 3rd gen before this and used a Moto X(first gen) before that, so I'm used to stock android only. A lot of of my friends used to tell me MIUI is really good but tbh I'm not enjoying it at all. I much prefer the stock android experience.
I told all of these to a friend and he suggested that I try using a custom ROM. Problem is I have no idea where to even start as I'm an absolute noob about all these stuff.
So what I'm looking for is any guide/step by step instructions to installing custom ROMs for noobs like me.
Also if anyone can suggest me what ROM I should install to get closer to a stock android experience. It should be a stable build.
Thanks beforehand and apologies for the poor English, not my native language.
Hi!
First unlock bootloader (it takes 3 days because Xiaomi protection).
Then flash TWRP recovery and... Hmmm just watch this video
After that you can chose custom ROM the best one for you is LineageOS copy it to device's storage, wipe all phone data/dalvik through TWRP and install Lineage. Remember to do MIUI backup

need help with switching rom

Hello everyone,
So i've been a xiaomi redmi 3 user for a few months now, no problems whatsoever.
I flashed lieage 14.1 rom when i got the phone, been satisfied, then like a week ago i flashed the 'pixel experience' rom... Now i would like to swith to the official miui rom but i dont have access to a computer. Is there any way to flash the official firmware without a pc ? I obviously have an unlocked bootloader and latest twrp...
If you came across a miui debloated rom, please tell me, i'd like to give it a try
Thanks in advance

Banking Apps with Custom Roms

Hi Guys,
Hope someone can help me answer this.
I'm a big fan of Android One so was thinking to get the the Mi A2 but I'm very much drawn towards Poco F1 for its value.
I use to load custom roms back in the days, but there use to be some issues such as once you root your phone, many banking apps wouldn't work as they would detect it as a security breach. Is this still the case? If I do purchase the Poco F1, I will want to install my own Rom.
Another question - do the custom roms update themselves these days or would I have to continuously reinstall them and reload all my apps again. Sorry, I've been a away from doing this for a few years.
Thanks.
you can just dirty flash it over your current rom without breaking any installed apps. Only thing that needs to be flashed on top of it would be root and custom kernel.
