(ROOT) Enable T-mobile voLTE on Rog Phone 3 - ASUS ROG Phone 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-enable-t-mobile-volte-vowifi-on-asus-smartphones-root/
Click the link and follow the guide. That should work on the international one(model a). Maybe someone can try it on the tencent version(model b) flashed with the Global rom and try the guide. This should enable you to activate it on T-mobile after they stated that a phone needs to be compatible with voLTE in order to activate and use it on T-mobile that started on August 27th. I don't have the phone to test so if it worked for you, please mention what version of the phone you have here for potential buyers. Thanks.

Root is not needed, just the build.prop edits. I made a how to, but got spammed and flamed, so deleted it. It will work on both versions with ww sw.

So if one were to pick up an A version and use this method and then down the line there is an OTA update for volte in the US would there be a conflict?

Thats interesting. The guide mentions that you need root. Also, how compatible is model b tencent version with T-Mobile? They're missing a lot of bands. For 5g, it only has band 41 2.5GHz which hasn't even been fully released yet. It's missing band 71 600 MHz and the other 260 and 261 bands for 5G high speed mmwave.
For 4G LTE, it's missing bands 66, 12, and 71.

If i had to take an educated guess, the update would overwrite the previous settings. However, if it messes it up, we could probably reflash the stock rom and update it normally or flash an updated stock rom.

Where did you get model a? Hopefully somewhere where it's not too expensive. I'm looking for 12gb ram 256gb. At the same time, I want to wait for u.s version release that should come out at the end of this month, maybe they might include mmwave bands for 5g and more compatible 4g lte bands at a good price.

No mw bands on rog3, even "us" version. You will have to buy the 12gb 512 for version a. Big bucks, $1k. Waiting for us version is a waste of time. I got my a version a month ago on ebay.

Ebay is full of the Chinese ones now with the rom. I've seen the model a on aliexpress and i don't have to pay tax but the wait time is going to be crap for it.
The only sure way to know its the a version is the prism box and free cooler inside right? Also do you have a link to check the 5g and 4g lte bands on the model a or is it the same as the u.s version model a? I can't find accurate bands anywhere for the international.
The only thing that worries me with getting the international a version is t-mobile coming out with a whitelist like at&t and not officially supporting the rog 3 which would make it useless on their network.

TMO has no white list for volte/wifi like att, and never will. Gotta buy the prism box, yes. And all version A's have same exact bands. I get great service on my rog3, even sa5g now that TMO enabled it. Btw, vowifi works too.

Won't happen on the devices released to the public because our radio isn't capable of using the ATT3G bands, but they may be releasing a flavor that's compatible with ATT.
Just a guess.

Couldn't this just be resolved with a radio update from Google. I mean GSM is GSM, it's about receiving the right bandwidth which is controlled by the radio. Unless I am missing something, I believe google could push out an update for the radio that supported both TMO and ATT's 3G bandwidth.

No, ATT and t-mobile run their 3G on complete different bands, so there's no compatibility between the two with existing hardware(that I know of).
Of course voice and EDGE will still function fine on the same phone between both carriers, but you'll need a phone that supports the specific bands for the carrier you're intending to use 3G on if you want it to work.

Yes, and Secure Wi-Fi has now been added. I think it previously existed only on the European firmwares. Now we get it, too.
Any way to see if AT&T Wifi Calling will work as I do not see the option in Settings? I have US Unlocked GS9 on AT&T
If I flash this U1 for my ATT phone (running full Tmobile firmware now),
will I have Wifi calling with Tmobile? Or Wifi calling only works with Verizon with U1

Despite what the websites like to post, there really isn't a VZW U1 and an ATT U1. There's just XAA U1. You'll get Wi-Fi Calling on every carrier with it now, except for ATT.

Reading up on it (short summary) this is because AT&T uses a database of IMEI numbers to provision WiFi calling and VoLTE. Since our IMEI numbers from our phones are not in that database we won't be able to use WiFi calling or VoLTE.
Makes sense but is ridiculous for AT&T to restrict it. Has anyone ever called to ask to have thier Unlocked IMEI added to this "list" so that these features will work? Seems like it is a disadvantage for AT&T if it works for TMo and now Verizon but not AT&T...?
Just curious...

It's odd for sure. Verizon has always had VoLTE on unlocked too. At least since the S7. Probably before that. ATT has never felt the need to change the policy.

Who can say if it's disadvantageous or not, for all we know it might be the technology differences between the networks. Also it does make sense... having specific IMEI numbers known to connect to carrier specific services like wifi calling and VoLTE ensures that everything works. It doesn't make it convenient for us and I will admit it would be nice to have the features.. but for calling via wifi there are options.
Personally I use pbx in a flash and bria softphone. With the right VoIP provider it's a good setup and doesn't break the bank at all. I haven't even spent more then 5 bucks maybe in a month. For me this is better then wifi calling and I don't have any problems.
As for adding our IMEI to that database I tried inquiring about it, but I do recall reading where some people may have had luck in doing this. I suspect it may require a bit of luck and/or perserveriance after my last discussion with AT&T customer service.
I explained the situation and what needed to be done while being placed on hold a few times. As the call continued I tried to be patient with the person I spoke too, but I admit it is not easy when he is saying that just because I see H data speed that it's actually VoLTE. When I mentioned the speed test and how it was H data speed (and that H data speeds are not VoLTE) he was saying that H data speeds were like blazing fast compared to LTE..
I had to politely finish the call before I either started to laugh or feel sorry for that rep.

In my case I tried to be patient with the person I spoke too. After waiting on hold a few times the representative tried to say everything was normal.. and then proceeded but to say that just because I see H+ speed that it's actually VoLTE. The only thing I've seen some people do successfully to get VoLTE working on an unbranded unlocked device is to have AT&T provision a SIM card to an IMEI of a phone that is AT&T branded and capable of VoLTE. Then use that SIM card on the unbranded unlocked device.

Two Questions

1. Does Black Shark 3 Pro support HDMI out via usb-c?
2. Does it support volte in the USA at all?
Would appreciate answers as I'm considering this device but can't find answers to these two questions anywhere.
It supports HDMI to type C and they have an official cable for that..
Check the frequencies supported by the unit you will be buying.. For reference, check GSM arena for that

I know it supports the correct LTE frequencies, but I've had Chinese phones before that didn't get volte.
To be fair, I use cricket because I don't care much about data speeds, and maybe they only allow specific phones to get volte. I just want to make sure I don't buy and then have a useless phone by next year.

General USA version XQ-CT62 received today!!

I just received my Xperia 1 IV USA version today from FocusCamera.com today, I was a little skeptical if it was even the USA version, since it wasn`t shipping from Sony until next week, I originally had pre-ordered on Sony website, then with a little looking around I had found the USA version on ebay in-stock, then I saw the seller name and went to there website yesterday and verified with there live chat that in fact it was in stock and would ship, so I ordered and use next day air shipping, everything works flawless and actually has the 5G bands like my Pixel 6 Pro, so I can get proper 5g speeds, on Band N71, That was missing from the Global version I was using 2 weeks ago, now I need the Firmware from Sony so I can root. I`m a happy camper

To know exactly how capable the device is then its necessary take modem logs and let smart people parse it.

You can know that without buying phone. Download the firmware with xperifirm, extract modem.img and use ELFextract to extract your hw variants .mbn file. This will reveal the carrier/band policy files (in policyman folder) which live in the modem. There you can see which bands are enabled for specific operators and if they are enabled for SA and NSA.

Question Help! Not getting 5G and VOLTE after changing to Canada ROGERS Sim (Unit from Philippines)

Hi Everyone,
Need help. I recently migrated to Canada and I brought my S23 Ultra with me (Open Line: CSC:XTC). I noticed that I'm only getting a 4G+ signal and VoLTE is not enabled. I check Rogers 5G coverage and our area is part of it. I tried inserting my sim to my wife's Iphone and it is getting a 5G signal. Can this be fixed?
Condolences on your move from a fellow Canadian
Are you sure the phone has the correct LTE bands (it probably does...).
Secondly, the Canadian telecom cartel has colluded and decided that they don't like phones sold elsewhere or imported...you could be SOL as I don't see Robbers authorizing your IMEI.
Apple is not caving in to carriers, that's why the iPhone works just fine.
I doubt that changing the CSC will help, as the restrictions are placed on IMEI.

For real? I can understand if they won't allow VoLTE (which they should) but not being able to get a 5G signal is just plain BS.

sh!t out of luck.
The issue is the CSC - if you are able to get the Rogers CSC working it should allow you to access 5G/VoLTE (possibly VoWiFi - Rogers allows 3rd party devices as long as the config files are correct - only Bell/Telus have an IMEI whitelist).

I already tried but Rogers CSC is not on the list. Is there any chance I can still change it to Rogers CSC?
Is it enabled in the *#*#4636#*#* menu?

What model is your phone? I would say you could try flashing to the W firmware but if you have an EU model phone it won't work... so I am not sure how you could get the correct CSC.

Yeah so I don't believe you can flash W model but I am unsure. You may be able to try out one of those CSC changing services though? Not 100% if they work.
what is your plan , I don't have 5G on rogers because I dont pay for this, but VoLTE should work ? VoWiFI works tho.

It's Rogers Infinite Plan (Unlimited and has 5G). VoLTE is not showing but I tried calling over it and the Signal still 4G+ so I guess VoLTE is activated. My problem now is the 5G signal. Went to Wireless Wave (where I got the sim) but they can't figure it out as well. They gave me a number of the TechSupport they said maybe it is something that needs to be done backend.

I'm wondering if maybe some bands are just hidden for our 5G? Did you try the how to guide on how to unlock all bands? If you are able to get access into the service mode you might be able to do it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...23-series-including-sub-6-and-mmwave.4554611/

That's still better than being on Telus. My data drops down to H+ when I make a call and the call quality on 3G is terrible in an area of Toronto dominated by highrises.

I feel you but it is sad that we are not getting the service we are paying for. SIM Plan is new and the phone is one of the latest. It's just disapppointing. I'm calling Tech Support right now but it seems they don't know anything either but they are very helpful though.

Tech Support isn't allowed to tell you that features like VoLTE, VoWiFi, and in the case of some device brands, like OnePlus, 5G are not provisioned by the system because those device IMEI's and model numbers are not whitelisted in the system and there for, not permitted to use these features.
Hey Guys! I messed up. I tried changing the CSC just for the sake of trying it via the dialer by typing *#272*IMEI# and chose randomly BTB. Now VOLTE is gone, signal is only 4G (Not even 4G+) like before. I tried typing it again to change it back to my original CSC (XTC) but it wont work anymore (the *#272*IMEI#). Is there another way for me to change it back to the original CSC?
Was able to change it back to XTC using SamFW. Was hoping to change it to RWC (Rogers) but it failed. Oh well! XTC (4G+) is better than BTB (4G) but was hoping if RWC was forced I could have gotten a 5G signal (I think).
