[Guide] Enabling AptX/HD support - Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello guys, I have done small research.
Our s5e device is based off Snapdragon 670 which is part of multiple interesting devices like Pixel phones. Qualcomm CPUs are including support for other codecs (aside of classic SBC) since few years back, however, to get them working out of the box the device manufacturer have to pay license fees. Since s5e is low cost niche device, Samsung didn't bother to do so, however device is completely capable to support it on hardware level. Essentially, we only need few libraries installed, and if you have necessary root permissions, its possible with classic magisk module.
Such magisk module can be found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-aptx-hd-legacy-devices-armv7-t4081693
I have validated it on LineageOS 17.1 via Bluetooth logcat and it does report AptX HD when connected to AptX HD supported headphones

Regular AptX also possible? I have a normal AptX BT Speaker, thanks!

For sure!

Simplest way to confirm on LOS 17.1 is to flash module, open Bluetooth settings of device that you paired to. It should say what codec it will use.

(Request) B&O Hi-FI Plus module MOD

Hi guys, I recently purchased my European bootloader unlocked H850, and bought the HI-FI plus module at the same time. My major gripe with the module is that when my M50x are plugged into it, the module recognizes it as a normal audio device, thus operating in low impedance mode. I tried unplugging the cable from the headphone end and connecting it only with the device, but the best I could get out of this method is Aux mode, although the better than low impedance, it doesn't sounds quite as good as the high impedance mode provided when I connect the B & O module via USB.
The question lies in: Is there any method to perhaps change the impedance range of the "normal audio device" mode so that it can match that of the high impedance; or fooling the phone to recognize my headphones as high impedance.
P.S. I'm currently rooted on Android Nougat.
Thanks in advance.
Up.
For G5 + Hi-Fi Module does not work trick with mixer_path_tasha (and lge_model_mixer_paths_tasha), as on V10, V20, V30.
There are no ESS 9018 DAC records in the file mixer_path_tasha, as in other files in ETC folder. On our phone, the first time the module is connected, the driver (application "com.lge.HMManager" with "libSavitech_fwUpgrade.so" and "libsusb.so" libs) is downloaded via LG Friends. On PC after installing the drivers, the device has the same name. Savitech or SaviAudio is the company that created the driver.
Can anybody help us to force high imedance mode?

I have an Idea, maybe try to delete those files, since AOSP supports the HiFi Dac natively in high impedence by default.
The problem is to determine in which files the settings are located. Unfortunately I've never used AOSP firmware.

Checking/forcing Bluetooth Audio Codec

I'm currently using the Xiaomi Sport Mini Earphones (https://xiaomi-mi.com/in-ear-headphones/xiaomi-mi-sport-bluetooth-ear-hook-headphones-mini-black/)
My Mi Pad 4 seems to connect through SBC, but I want to user a higher fidelity codec such as AptX. If I'm not mistaken, the earbud should support this protocol, according to the reviews.
How can I identify all possibilities for certain what is possible and force codec?
Interesting question! I also have an Apt-X receiver. When I connect my Oneplus 5, it shows "powered by qualcomm apt x" when it connects. I do not see it anywhere on the MiPad 4.
For me, after connecting a BT device supporting AptX, <powered by qualcomm apt x> is displayed.
I am on AOSP v25. Maybe MIUI 9 for Mi Pad 4 does not support AptX yet. Have you tried on another GSI or MIUI 10 ?
Update:
Checked again today whether it works and unfortunately not. I decided to rectify my post.
Sorry that I was misleading with the Aptx operation at Mi Pad 4.
I use so many Android devices that sometimes I'm wrong about what works and what does not.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have to wait 359h to unlock Bootloader....
I found some time to do research. I now confirm that AptX works on Mi Pad 4 after installing the Magisk module from Repo.

Interesting! Which ROM do you use?
Please tell us the correct name of the module.
Module is Android O APT-X libraries v2 by Jolanrensen from Magisk repo.
Using on AOSP v26 now.

Thanks, i will try it on the Xiaomi EU Rom
Dont work, still on AAC I have tried to change it in the developer options but no result (Xiaomi EU Miui 10 Beta)
I found some aptx options in developer options. not sure if it works with headphones though.
It seems impossible...

Bluetooth stability issues?

Hi folks,
I bought a Honor 8X last week, and until now I'm very satisfied, except for one thing: Bluetooth stability.
I use Bluetooth earbuds and speakers on a daily basis, and on all 3 devices I use, I'm encountering regular drops and stutters during audio playback.
I'm using the same devices with my previous phone, a OnePlus 3T, and I didn't get those issues (well, not BT related issues, I had other ones with that phone )
I'm also regularly having troubles to connect to my Anker speaker.
Anyone else is having this issue?
I use BT headset most evenings watching TV etc no pertic brand just cheap ones and not noticed any issue also had my 8x a week nearly

I am facing same issue. Device paired but media audio and input device are disabled. Only showing device is paired
I don't have this issue, it's probably because of the software. If it's not solved with an update, then who knows what's causing the issue.

I don't have this problem. It may be related to your bluetooth device. What is the bluetooth device you use?:○

Well, he said that the bleutooth device worked perfectly with OP 3T, my guess is that the current software of the 8X is the issue.
I fixed this by changing the bluetooth codec used in the developer settings.
1. Enable developer settings
2. Change the Bluetooth audio codec to SBC from aptX to SBC

When I go to developer options, bt audio codec options are grayed out. Can't change anything...
honor 8x cannot find or detect sony wi c300 bluetooth headset...although honor is very good when using it...i am very satisfied but i only regret in terms of connecting bluetooth headset.
I have no issues with bluetooth, the range is better than my previous huawei P8 max and it doesn't randomly disconnect.
What case are you using? Metal bumpers may look cool but they kill bluetooth and cellullar signal.

Hi
I have the same problem and I'm happy to know I am not alone, on French websites I have not found this topic. So my bluetooth headsets are a model called Fozento, Version Bluetooth: V4.2.
And my speakers are Ultimate Ears Boom.
With both I have the same problem and that is very very annoying.
i have the same issue with my bluetooth devices (Bose, JBL)
Hi! I´ve got a weird Bluetooth problem, i hope someone could help. I´ts about data transfer. I tried to send some photos to my work PC from my new 8X. Did not work, it sends a few percent of the photo and then I get an error message "BluetoothStackserver crashed" or something like that. New, up to date PC with the newest drivers, Win 8.1 64 bit. Well, I tried with different other devices, Galaxy S9plus, Honor 7x, Note 10.1 2014, and even my old Surface Pro (also with 8.1 64 bit) it works with everything but my PC. (And my PC works also with all of them). I brought it home, added to my wife´s PC (older but high spec laptop) and also doesn´t work but this time without error messages. I tried to connect to her phone (some LG) also works perfectly. Sending, receiving. I literally tried everything, newest drivers, reboot, but nothing seems working. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Same issue with mine. APTX stutters and is unusable. When I pair headphones that use APTX, I have to turn off APTX and revert to SBC to enjoy listening to music (which is an inferior codec). Something wrong with the software and APTX codec. Hope Honor fixes this in next update.
I am facing the exact problem with honor 8x. Usibg avantree tws 120 and Changing to sbc seems to disable the issue temporarily till i reconnect the buds and forget to revert to sbc as it automatically sets beack to aptx. Worth mentioning i have another galaxy phone which doesn't manifest the problem.

Where is our Dual Audio feature in the phone?

Bluetooth v5 introduced a feature named dual audio, through which audio can be played from a single phone to two different speakers/headphones connected over Bluetooth.
Where is this feature in our phone? Even the recent update ColorOS 7.1, this feature is still missing!
please let me know if this feature is available.
Samsung already has the feature
Realme has.......sort of a similar feature

The option you are showing is the feature to connect multiple devices via Bluetooth, which is support to 5 at the same time with possibility of different Bluetooth profiles and I know about this.
Dual Audio feature means to share same Bluetooth profile of "Media Playback" to 2 devices at the same time.
I've tried, but our phone, as of 31st July, still doesn't support sharing Media Playback profile with 2 devices. It will switch the device, if i tend to change it, keeping the profile locked on to just 1 device.
On the other hand, I've tried testing the Samsung's feature and it shares the same profile with 2 different speakers. Bluetooth v5 has the capability to support this by default. Thus, its up to OPPO to provide the software support to it.

Like I said...I don't use it, but thought that might have helped.
Since I upgraded to ColorOs7.0 my Lypertek Tevi Bluetooth headphones now connect each individual earbud with its own Bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth symbol then states 2 devices are connected. The latency in games is massively reduced Vs ColorOS6 where only 1 earbud connected and then the buds talked to each other. Is that the feature you're referring to?

Starting with Android 12, multicasting to a group of BLE audio headphones is supported. How this can be achieved?

Connecting 2 Bluetooth devices at once to your android device and stream audio simultaneously for both of them.
combined audio device routing https://source.android.com/docs/core/audio/combined-audio-routing
in aosp source code page it is mentioned about ble audio supporting multiple audio sink devices.... https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/connectivity/ble-audio/overview
Is there any details on how to achieve this. Please help me on this
The feature is called Auracast. Not everything you'll find in the AOSP is implemented in your firmware. Apart from that this features needs Bluetooth 5.2.
