HD1913 magisk root or twrp root. - OnePlus 7T Pro (Regular & McLaren) Q & A

Hi. I want to root My OP7T Pro. Im on 10.0.11.hd01ba software. I have tried some guides here but ended up in bootloops. Most of the guides here is written for the AA global software not the BA European software. I wonder if there is someone who has succesfully rooted this device and/or managed to install twrp. And if there is a working patched boot.img flying around here?.
Thanks in advance.

You can use boot.img and described steps from this post to flash patched boot.img
After that if you don't have Magisk Manager app installed do it manually.

Hey, one question before i go ahead. The boot.img in that tread is for the AA global version. Does it work on the BA European version.

You really should "pull" your own boot.img from your own device instead of using what others have posted to avoid potential headaches.

I'm not disagreeing with you there.
My comment more comes from my opinion that many XDA users are relatively new and can't for the life of everyone read and read some more (or follow directions for that matter). There's a good chance they end up downloading the wrong file and getting into a mess.

I agree with what you said here, that's why in this situation, I show him how to flash first, then if the user shows interest, I will obviously show how can he make ALL the process for himself.
I've seen to many junior members reading all the "hard work" and just saying "F*** this, I will just try to find automated way..."

Well well. Today i got the hedache. Everything worked well untill i had to make a reboot. No wi-fi, bluetooth and force close when trying to make a call. Guess i have to restart the whole thing. I vill reflash original stock rom once again and Yess i will take that last advice off yours. Is there any guide for using the payload dumper you could suggest?

Could be Magisk module(s) related...
I prefer booting TWRP and doing an adb pull of the boot.img instead of using Payload Dumper

Note: you don't have to use Canary Magisk; keep a copy of your non-patched boot.img to go back to if you end up with bootloop

Root

I mean is there any possible way to root this device? I tried flashing SuperSU, didn't work. Then I tried flashing the systemmode SuperSU, got stuck in the bootloader warning text. I also tried some pre rooted Roms from the forum.. and they just won't boot. What am I missing here..??

I didn't. I had no clue what it was. I just flash recovery n install the SuperSU file with it on other phones.
Now I'll try rooting it once the nougat arrives.

Nougat could introduce more issues (e.g. Xposed doesn't work with Nougat as of today... Magisk & SuperSU... who knows?) but in theory steps should be the same...
More: this is unknown to most (and I don't have a clear explanation for it... only some hypothesis...) but even TWRP could have issues...
On another phone I've found (only one time to be honest... ) that an updated firmware required an updated TWRP to have it working (older one simply doesn't booted anymore even if reflashed...)

I don't like OTAs at all... I'll prefer going with flashing full images by fastboot (if stock images) or TWRP (if custom ROMs or zip flashable version of stock images...).
They are safer and cleaner than OTAs...

Are you able to restore all the changes you made to /system, to successfully install the next OTA-update?
Or you just reflash the whole stock image before the next ota?

Probably it could be possible to restore all as stock from my backups, but I will surely update (when I'll decide to...) using fastload or TWRP (depending of image formats...) as you said...

How to uninstall twrp from my device?

Hello,
I bought the Xiaumi mi Max 3 and installed trwp on it to be able to root it. How can I uninstall twrp? I don't want my device to be vulnerable.
Can someone tell me how to undo this step?
But the root access should persist

[Request] G8X Sprint SPR firmware

Seems there is no offical Sprint firmware, can someone make a package of it? Thanks.
How can one make a package? I'm on sprint 20j December, unlocked bootloader and magisk. I never installed twrp, because the links don't work here. I wanted to use twrp, booting using adb, instead of installing it which might make ota difficult.
Qfil lets me dump partitions but I'm not sure how to automate it, there's tons!

Can't locate stock ROM need help

I am on QPMS30.80-51-3, but I cannot locate that file. There is XT2041-4_SOFIA_RETUS_10_QPMS30.80-109-5 file available. Someone was saying I could use any A10 boot.img to root with magisk, is this true? I am just checking before I do anything. If I use rescue tool it wants to upgrade to A11

Question Are there any benefits to install Magisk if my model (sm-A526u) can't be rooted?

I have done my research on xda and Google about my phone version not having access to root yet; and I would like to know the opinion of users of my same phone model: SM-A526U; What benefits can i find if i install magisk?
can i use the magisk modules without being rooted?
thank you for reading my post and thank you in advance if you respond

Have you tried Odin to do the flashing? While not the same device, I have rooted my SM-A526B without TWRP by patching the boot image with Magisk and then copying over the patched boot.img file to a computer, then finally flashed it over using Odin.
I have played with TWRP and Odin in the past with other phones; But I don't feel comfortable experimenting with this phone since it's my only source of work right know. After the process is proved ok by other people with the exact same model as mine, I can't risk experimenting like I have done other times.

This won't work on Samsung "U" variant phones because of their locked bootloader. Once you modify boot.img with Magisk, the phone will automatically detect it as custom firmware and it won't allow it to be flashed because of locked BL.
