256GB NTFS not readable from LineageOS Galaxy S8 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it a bug or my mistake?
I'm looking help with a trouble with my micro SD card.
Until few days ago a was using a Samsung Galaxy S5 with a 256GB microSD with NTFS as FileSystem.
(I've to use NTFS because my Synology does not work with exFat o with standard ext4 and, of course, because fat32 does not support 4GB+ files)
My GalaxyS5 screen get some trouble so I moved to a GalaxyS8 with LineageOS (https://www.xda-developers.com/unofficial-lineageos-17-1-android-10-samsung-galaxy-s8-plus-note-8/)
The problem is that I can not use the microSD on these phone.
I tested with a 64GB NTFS microSD and works.
I tested with a 256GB exFAT microSD and works.
There is no way to use with the 256GB NTFS microSD.
Why ?
Any fix ?
Thank you very much!

Hi,
Questions about ROMs are often very specific (and this one is), so make sure to ask in the ROM's thread first : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/development/rom-lineageos-17-1-t4041979

Only Samsung devices with Stock ROM support NTFS

You can try Helloworld's Clean ROM, 8G SDHC has been reported to work well.

Someone reporting that M$ already include the driver for SDHC in WM 6.1, so you don't need to install the driver. But SDHC can not use for upgrade ROM by mini SD Methode, you must use standard mini SD under 2 GB.

Sony Tablet P - microSD 64GB card working!

I've read in a thread concerning the Tablet S that 64GB SDXC cards were working in it.
I can now confirm that the Sandisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-1 (class10) card is working with the Tablet P (ICS 4.0.3 rooted). I think it came formated in extFAT and wasn't recognized. I reformated it within my Xperia Arc S (didn't try with the tablet, not sure if there was an option for it) and there it is!

How did you get ICS for Tablet P? Do you have an international version? If not could you please provide details or open a thread on installing ICS on Tablet P?
Thanks,
Todd Thompson
Sorry for the late answer. ICS for the Tablet P has been around for quite a while now, and it's the official one. I have the standard unlocked european model.
Maybe you have a locked version of the tablet and your provider did not update it. Did you try with the Sony PC compagnon software? I think I used this to find out there was an update, on the tablet itself the software update did not show me anything.
Keep in mind that if you want to root it, you should use the 4in1 or all-in-one tool, not sure about the name (search the Sony Tablet forum for it) , BEFORE updating your tablet!
It's a great tool and you can use it for backing up your old/new firmware and activate a few options on the tab'.
Enjoy!

SDcard problem - for anyone have s3 s4 note 2

hello ,
i have SD card kingstone 32 GB class 4
its quite decent priced and was working fine to my s3 gt-i9300 for 1st year
after a while it started to lag the device on the original stock rom
anyway , after using custom cyanogenmod rom it was fine to me and quick
once i got back to stock it freezed the device then its not working anymore
not recognized on phone nor PC -- not even recognized on recovery programs like testdisk - photorycu .. etc
i lost hope until i searched specificaly in kingstone technical support:
here's the link
http://www.kingston.com/en/support/technical/products?model=SDC4
so i found out this in android 4.2 4.1.2 question FAQ :
*ADVISORY* My microSD card worked in my Android 4.1 or 4.2 device but after a short time, it is no longer accessible and has locked up. How do I resolve this issue?
A problem has been identified with some microSD cards and Android 4.1 & 4.2 based devices like the Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S4, and Samsung Galaxy Note II that causes the card to become unresponsive after being used for a short time. Kingston Technology has taken the necessary measures to resolve the issue but it is always a good idea to keep a BACKUP of ALL important data. If you are experiencing this problem, please contact our Technical Support department for a resolution.

Otg support??

I read many post's here and there about OTG (or MTP) problems for Z3TC (kitkat or lolipop) .
Anyone can report something about ??
I'm planning to buy one but .....
OTG is very important for the use i wont it for.
For me it works. No problems so far. Last week I copied about 12gb of pictures with a cheap otg adapter from eBay.

in what firmware and android version ??
I don't know the firmware (don't care about it) but first it was on 4.4, then 5.0 and since last week on 5.1... Official firmware flashed with PC Compagnion.
No root or any modifications, otg used with the preinstalled filemanager.
Only one time the tablet couldn't mount my USB drive, but after a reboot the problem was gone.
Same here. Otg was fine on 5.0.2 and now still working perfect on latest 5.1.1

I unlocked my bootloader and installed CM 11 from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2518701 just for use my 64 gigs sdcard but the phone can't detect it. I had a Droid 4 that worked wonders with the same card and ROM. Any insights?
One insight: Don't post the same thing in multiple threads.
