Does anyone know how to keep date and time synced, but use a custom timezone?[SOLVED] - Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 / S7 Plus Questions & Answer

I want to keep the tablet's clock synchronized over internet, while configuring a different timezone from network-provided one.
However, at present it doesn't appear to be possible, as General Management -> Date and Time -> Automatic Date and Time option would automatically set to use my network-provided time zone which is not what I want.
Does anyone know how to achieve this? I know that this is doable on some custom ROMs/GSIs, as they offer separate "Use network-provided time" and "Use network-provided time zone" options, just not on this one's stock ROM...

It seems I've found the answer myself. See here.
Use adb shell and set "auto_time" setting value to 1, while keep "auto_time_zone" setting value as 0:
Code:
$ settings put global auto_time 1
$ settings get global auto_time
1
To make sure "auto_time_zone" setting value is still set to 0.
Code:
$ settings get global auto_time_zone
0
This should work. However, there's a catch:
DO NOT ever enter "General Management -> Date and Time" menu again, as it'll see "Automatic Date and Time" option as ticked and refresh the setting values, which will set the timezone to network provided one!

Help request: No mail notification sounds or vibrate

Hi everybody!
I have an HTC Touch Pro from Bell and for some reason it has stopped notifying me by sound or vibrate that i have recieved an email. Text messages work, alerts of meetings work, everything works except mail.
I also do not get an icon in the top bar telling me there is a new email alert.
I have one account set up, but it is not set up as the "Outlook E-mail" account.
All notification settings are set as on.
I'm stumped. I also checked all the "tweak" apps i have in stalled and none of them have a feature to turn of mail notification.
If you have any ideas I would love to hear from you! PLEASE!!! It's driving me batty!!!

Thanks!
Navigate to HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\A877D65A
Quoting from XDA now:
The values in these keys will determine what options are available (AvailableOptions) and which options are selected (Options).
The values relate to the following (in the order on the Notifications tab):
1 = Play Sound
16 = Repeat
8 = Display message on screen
4 = Flash light for ...
2 = Vibrate
Add the numbers of the notifications you desire. So if you wanted all of them selected you would put 31 in the Options key. If you only wanted a message and vibrate you would put 10.
Next step.
AvailableOptions determine which boxes are available and which are grayed out. (we will leave out Repeat until later). Options determines which are selected, and yes you can select something in Options that is not selected in AvailableOptions, it will appear as a grayed out check box that is selected.
So if AvailableOptions is set to 10 only the Display message on screen and Vibrate check boxes will be available, the rest will be grayed out. If the Options value is 14, the Play Sound will be grayed out, unselected; the Display message will be available and selected; the Flash light will be grayed out, but selected and 5 min (Duration key = 5); Vibrate will be available and selected.
So set the options you want to select and unselect using the Available Options key and use the Options key to specify which are selected. Changing the selection in the Notifications tab will change the value of the Options key, but will not change the AvailableOpions key.
The only values accepted for either are 1-15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31
Is is because you can't have Repeat (16) without Play sound (1), that's why there are numbers missing. I tested putting 16 in AvailableOptions and 31 in Options and all boxes were selected, but grayed out.

go to settings tab, data services, internet time sync, and make sure it is turned off.
Or possibly your phone thinks it is in one time zone, but you have it set to another?
On home screen, tap teh clock and make sure you are set to 'my location', and just for good measure, check your region settings in

[Q] Using variables in Minimal Text widget

Hey,
I'm new to android and i have used this forums a lot,
But now after i've searched for like several hours (Both here and in google..) for a solution and haven't found it i decided to sign up and ask it...
I'm using "Minimal Text" widget for my lockscreen (WidgetLocker)
and i want to add a Unread SMS Count number,
I Understood i need to create a Locale Variable for this one and read the tutorial on the "Minimalistic Text Wiki".
I Must add i'm also a complete noob with the "Tasker" app and just downloaded it for this particular use of creating a Variable.
The problem is, even after reading and doing exactly what the tutorial says,
And even trying to create a Variable manually in Tasker i just can't display it on the Minimal text widget no matter how much i try..
What could be the problem?
Are you setting the minimalistic text variable? For example, on your text received profile you should have two actions. The first sets a variable, lets say %SMSUNREAD. The second is Minimalistic Text variable, under plugins. For this you configure the variable name to be something else (%MNMLSMSUNREAD for example) and the content is %SMSUNREAD. You then configure Minimalistic text to use %MNMLSMSUNREAD.
Also you need to make sure Tasker is selected in Settings>Accessibility as an Accessibility Service.
Lastly, there seems to be reported issues with Tasker and deodexed roms. Are you running a custom Rom?
Hope that helps.
First of all thanks for the reply,
I noticed i Don't have tasker checked on Accessibility, Neither "Accessibility" checked.
I've checked them both but still, it doesn't show the amount of unread SMS...
here is what i have:
Tasker -
"New SMS" profile:
Received Text,*,* -
Variable Set "%SMSCOUNT" to "%SMSCOUNT + 1"
Minimalistic Text variable settings "%MNMLSMSCOUNT = %SMSCOUNT"
"Reset SMS" profile:
Messages (stock android messages app) -
Variable Set "%SMSCOUNT" to "0"
Minimalistic Text variable settings "%MNMLSMSCOUNT = %SMSCOUNT"
And of course a locale variable in the Minimalistic Text widget of "%MNMLSMSCOUNT" but still, Shows nothing.
I have just done some testing with Tasker and it seems like Nothing i try work,
For example i made a new profile with the task of showing some custom notification when i receive SMS,
or Display a popup when i turn my BT on, and Nothing happens....
What can i do to make tasker even work?!
PS. in my notifications bar i have "No Active Profiles" under tasker although it's all On...
Alright just wanted to update you, got it to work,
Well i just made it from the beginning Not following the tutorial,
Instead of the "%Variable + 1" i used the "Variable Add" oprion and WITHOUT the "Do Math" check.

[Q] Setting Defaults

Is there an easy way to set defaults on this device? I'm trying to set the particular default in an app to use LocalCast, but it seems the usual "Always" and "This time Only" options are missing. Is there another way to do this or are those settings particular to an app?

Disable sync and notifications at night (Android 11)?

Hello,
I am trying to find a way to disable sync and notifications at night. The phone is a Japanese Sharp Aquos R3, running Android 11.
I've tried 'Battery' > 'Battery Saver' > 'Set a schedule' but I only see two options there: 'No schedule' and 'Based on percentage'. I've seen screenshots from other brands, they have an extra option 'Based on your routine' but it's not there on my phone, and I'm not even sure it can help.
The other thing I've tried is 'Apps and notifications' > 'Advanced' > 'Notifications' > 'Advanced' > 'Do Not Disturb' > 'Schedules' > 'Sleeping'. Under its settings, I've set 'Start time' to 00:01 and 'End time' to 7:57. Then, under 'Do Not Disturb behaviour', I used the 'Create custom settings for this schedule' where I've only enabled 'Alarms'. Under 'Messages' I've selected 'None'.
This doesn't seem to do what I need. The phone still checks for emails (Gmail app) and blinks the notification light at night; there is no sound, luckily.
What I'm trying to achieve was fairly easy on all my old phones: Sharp Aquos 005SH (2010), Aquos SH-01D (2012), Sharp Aquos SH-01G (2015), Aquos SH-01H (2016). All of these had a manufacturer app called Energy Saving which allowed me to set up a night-time schedule. But not this one.
I also tried extracting Sharp's Eco Mode app from an older phone but it won't install ('App not installed').
If what I need cannot be accomplished using Android's default options, please recommend an app that can do this. I tried Tasker but couldn't really get it to work, creating a profile was a too confusing for me.
