Apps not working correctly until I clear app storage? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm using a Pixel 2 XL and the latest ROM from Google (Android 11) and I'm having issues with multiple apps...
If we look at TikTok, If I have used the app once the next time I load the app it is seemingly unable to connect / download and videos... However if I clear clear all storage for then load the app I can view them again but as soon as I close the app it stops working until I repeat the process again.
If we look at call of duty mobile, if I've used the app once the next time i load the app it shows the loading screen and then crashes/closes. If I clear app storage then load the game it works correctly but has to download a bunch of things...
I've got a few other apps that have the same sort of issues that only work if I clear their app storage first.
I've tried without Magisk and without a custom kernel but it does it for them too. I've checked with other pixel 2 users and they don't have these issues the same as me.
I've reflashed stock ROM, I've uninstalled reach of the faulty apps and reinstalled them....
I'm not sure what else i can do, anyone know what's going on and better yet how do I fix this issue.

[Q] Google App Framework and Music randomly FC'ing

I have wiped and flashed Gingerbread quite a few times. HKTW, then kennethpenn's Beta 4, then Beta 4 with faux123's custom kernel.
Something happened between the flashing and backup/restore through Titanium Backup. Google Music (from the market) runs painfully laggy when it is running in the foreground. What's weird is that I see the FC message pop up for it randomly every 5 minutes, even when I haven't run it yet. (I'm guessing an event is triggering its start)
Anyways. I did disable some things from triggering using Autostarts. Maybe I should set them back.
Anyways, what's even more weird is that once I uninstall Music, another FC, even more annoying, for some Google app framework pops up. (I forget, too lazy) This FC shows up with almost any app at anytime. And, I can neither install nor uninstall apps using the market (the market actual FCs upon trying to do so). Thank God I had a backup of Google Music, but I had to return to its FC problem.
I am probably going to reflash and be careful what I restore, but I'm just wondering...what happened? I'm into IT and development, so I can take what you throw at me.
I'm just not developing for Linux, including Android, yet. I'm mainly into scripting languages right now, but I can learn others fairly easily. Why am I talking about this? xD
Anyways, just a bit curious if anybody knows. I don't exactly know most of the processes that run in the background on Android.

[Q] What's going on: Weird issues - Unable to uninstall, download from Google play

This one is a weird one. I have not experienced this before.
My wife's HTC One X unrooted, factory unlocked from oversees, still under warranty. Latest JB available (stock).
Just the other day I went to clean up some of her redundant apps that I installed on her phone. All apps were from legitimate sources, Google Play.
Problem 1. I could not uninstall any app. The device would get quite warm, actually very warm. I would do a hard boot and sometimes I would then be able to uninstall the app, most other times no. I even have uninstaller apps and I tried using them and the app would go through the motions. it would seemingly uninstall the apps but it really didn't . On the times it would uninstall apps (it doesn't matter which app or how large or small) it often would take a long time.
Problem 2: Downloading apps from GP. I might be able to get away with downloading one app and installing it. However, most of the time GP would be stuck in "downloading', Again, if I do a hard reboot or even soft reboot, sometimes the download would start and you would see the small tray and down arrow. Most of the times, not. What is odd about this is that if I go to Google Play via desktop and remotely tell GP to install a particular app, it usually does without issue on the device.
Problem 3. I did a factory restore and after a few apps everything was ok. but problem would then develop again. I repeated the process to narrow down which app may be causing issue but I haven't been able to do so. Then, I did a hard reboot again and then the download would be very slow to start, several minutes then it would start up normally. I tried uninstalling an app and it too took a long time initially and then it was ok. However, in between this all, it was not. Even when going to SETTINGS, APPS, seeing info on the app (cache size, etc) would take a very very long time to populate.
The wife has her phone with her today at work, but for now it is operating as it should. However, I am very confident it will return to the way it was.
Does any one know what could be going on? Is this a s/w issue or hardware issue? Is there any way to test to see if the flash drive has bad sectors or is somehow damaged? Perhaps the HTC needs a brand new re-flash to the original ROM ?

So I am running slimkat on huawei y300 and I first noticed a problem with the reddit

So I am running slimkat on huawei y300 and I first noticed a problem with the reddit is fun app. It would only load 25% of the image if I used the in app browser so I had to use the external browser. But then it happened in Tinder where images and moments (more images) wouldn't load in the app. Then snpachat was effected. So when it became clear that the problem was just going to effect more and more apps I decided to stop being lazy and format the phone. Still happened when I downloaded the apps again. So I wiped everything on the phone, installed the most up to date gapps and rom and still the same problem... wtf?? I don't even know how it's possible anymore since it obviously isn't the app since millions of people would have issues and I wiped my phone several times so it couldn't be bad installations/file systems. The only thing I could think of trying next was to change the google account, still the same issue only in the same apps. Anyone any idea on what this is?

Whatsapp freezes

Hi all,
I have a problem: sometimes (not always) when I open whatsapp it opens and then it freezes and I can't type anything until I close and re-open the app or switch off and back on the screen.
This happens both with stock and custom roms and with stable and beta versions of whatsapp.
Can someone help me?
I also have this problem
Try clearing app cache & data through app management... and reopen whatsapp. Hope this will fix your problem..
your database might be getting too big as well. delete old videos.
just installed whatsapp on a fresh rom, no previous videos in my phone, everything clean
try a different keyboard?
Are you fiddling around with it? For example, installing themes or tweaking WhatsApp?

Looking for help running very old & abandoned app on Android 10+

So there's an app I've been using for many years: Simple Checkin for Foursquare
It's essentially a lightweight app/client for the once-popular Foursquare location checkin service.
The app has been abandoned by it's developer and hasn't been updated since 2016. I have searched but have not found another app to replace it (that works) so I still use it.
My daily driver for the past few years has been an LG V35 that's stuck on Android 8. It's actually been a great phone for me which is why I've kept it so long but is really starting to show it's age, some more modern apps are getting noticeably laggy.
I bought a new phone that came with Android 10 and it's good other than this particular app doesn't work at al. When I install (or launch it after clearing data) I'm given a warning that the app is designed for an older version of android and may not work properly before it prompts me to log into the Foursquare service, once that part is completed the app just crashes. Any time I try to launch the app after that it crashes immediately (never even loads the UI).
I've tried this on 2 different Android 10 phones and it's the exact same result. The app works fine on both Android 8 and Android 9.
I'm wondering if there's some kind of workaround for this problem or if I'm really stuck here. I have reached out to the developer of the app and he told me that he's not working on this app anymore and has no plans to update it.
Thanks in advance
Which phone?
The ancient freeware WPS office runs on my N10+'s Android 9 and 10. 10 hasn't caused many issues except it gutted Karma Firewall's valuable logging feature. On Samsung's at least scoped storage isn't fully active and Samsung has greatly modified Q to maintain functionality and the UI.
One reason I'll never load Android 11
Overlay apps generally crash on Q...
Try checking all settings on the app.
Check accessibility permissions, does it need Administrator permissions?
Clear system cache and app data.
Try disabling the internet and see if it loads.
If so then find which app is diming it out and firewall block it.
Try temporarily disabling Google play Services.
Playstore may be another trouble maker.
Try reinstalling it with internet disconnected.
See what apks popup (running services/app cache) when you try to load it as that may give you a clue to the perp apk.
Play with it... may be a dead end or not.

Thanks, I'll try that.
FWIW the two Android 10 phones I've tried are a Motorola One 5G Ace and a Unihertz Titan
Try using Apk Export to copy it. This is app I use, freeware.
