For Indian LG G8X owners, few options for charging adaptors/cables & screenguards - LG G8X ThinQ Accessories

Hello guys! With LG and Flipkart selling out hundreds of thousands of LG G8x, this might probably might get a second life. As the Indian Flipkart special edition G8x does not come with a charging adaptor, I thought I'll list a few which seem interesting to me, should support 18w/21w fastcharging and start a discussion. Prices were taken when FK BBD/Amazon GIFS was going one.
Adaptors that should work with LG G8X:
Best Charger - Just buy any QC 3.0 supported charges in Rs. 299-349 range - Amazon Link
Mi 27 watt SonicCharge adaptor (QC 3.0 compatible) - Rs. 499 - Amazon India Link | Mi Store Link
AMX XP 30 Q.C 3.0 Charger with USB C Cable - Rs. 600 - Amazon Link - This combo might seem unattractive for the price but the cable provided with this combo is USB 3.1 Gen1 cable with data transfer speed up to 5GBPS. Most cheap Mi/Boat cables are USB 2.0 with speed capped at 480mbps. The cheapest USB 3.1 Gen1 cable on amazon is also by the same brand AMX which is Rs. 429. Similar Amazonbasics cable starts at around Rs. 600. So for 600 both AMX adaptor and cable seems like a solid deal.
Wireless Chargers - 10 watt chargers are what you should be looking at as that's the highest the phone support. Remeber that you will need a adaptor as most wireless chargers don't come with a adaptor. I recommend the Spigen or Raegr one.
RAEGR Arc 500 10w Type-C [ 2 different Type C Cables bundle] - Rs. 1599 - Amazon India Link
Dyazo Wireless Charger Pad 10w - Rs. 839 - Amazon India Link
Anker Wireless Charger 10w - Rs. 1499 - Amazon india Link
Spigen Compact Fast Wireless Charger 10w - Rs. 998 - Amazon india Link
RAEGR Arc 400 Type-C 10w - Rs. 999 - Amazon India Link
Screen Protectors and Tempered Glass:
New Update- Various people are saying that Samsung M30 screen protectors fit Lg G8x primary display almost perfectly. This should be available locally for anywhere between Rs. 50-100. Better go to your local retailer and check it out and see if the protector they are selling fits or not. Logically the same thing should also work for the secondary display. Maybe even checkout screen protectors for other phones too which may fit.
FCS Screen Protector for LG G8X ThinQ Covers All Three Screens & Camera Front & Back All Side Protection - Amazon Link - Seems great value for both screens back and front and 3rd smaller display.
[Matte]FCS Screen Protector for LG G8X ThinQ Covers All Three Screens & Camera Front & Back All Side Protection - Rs. 499 - Amazon Link -same as above one but matte coating so should help deal with fingerprint and oil.
Cases/Cover:
Lustree [Matte Black /Transparent options] Soft Silicon Flexible Back Case Cover for LG G8x Thinq (Black) - Rs. 299 - Amazon Link
Duel Layer Hybrid Armor Back Cover Case with Kickstand for LG G8X - Rs. 399 - Amazon Link
Armour TPU Military Grade Back Cover Case for Lg G8x Thinq (Black) - Rs. 299- Amazon Link
Helix Back Cover for Lg G8X Thinq - Rs.399 - Amazon link
Skins:
https://riggear.in/shop/Skins/LG-G8X-ThinQ-skins
There is also Wrapkart.com and their skins start from Rs. 250 which is almost half of all other sellers but they have mixed reviews.
They have some good looking skins and variety of textures but no idea about the quality. This company has their cases listed on amazon india and they are generally well rated.
Try them and do post pictures here.
UPDATE: Bought wrapkart skins and they are pretty good for the price.
PS- Some products might go out of stock and come back again, especially Mi chargers. Also, prices might fluctuate a bit.

Makes no sense to use Portable charger for everyday use. Portable chargers are not made for this and battery capacity will drastically fall after some time of daily usage. Also at 2400, rather get adapter for 400, portable charging pad for 1000 and another power bank for 1000.

Can anyone have buying links for 21 watt charger as this phone supports 21w fast charging with QC 4 support?

AFAIK, there are no QC 4.0 chargers available in India.
18 watt chargers linked above will support fast charging. If you want to utilize full fast charging upto 21 watts, best option Mi 27 watt sonic charge adaptor . But how safe it is for long term needs to be verified.
Someone needs to check with official LG store if they sell 21 watt charger.

Can any one confirm if Mi Sonic charger is working at 21watts with lg g8x

They don't, they just sell a 16.2 watt charger for LG G8X which shouldn't be as close to 18 or 27 watt chargers and that too is not cheap. Also to mention samsung's 15 watt charger gives the fast charging icon.

The best thing is that it is Made in India and comes with 2 Yrs. Warranty. All other Chargers listed in main post come with only 6 months warranty.

I purchased it & currently using it on my device, it's a good screen protector but there is only one problem the 2nd layer which is supposed to removed after the application of screen protector is very hard to remove and you have to use something sharp to make a gap from the edge and after that you can remove it easily.

ive tried 5 different chargers but this phone does not charge more than 10w on any chargers QC 2.0, 3.0 AND 4.0+ usb AtoC CtoC tested on usb tester. it will spike to 13w maximum then go stable 10w all the way. Can anybody test on their phone to confirm this? ive tried these chargers on xiaomi and realme phone they would charge upto 17w

Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0+ Chargers?

Are any of these on the market? I can't find them for the life of me.
Same here. Been checking amazon every other day, can't find squat for QC 4. Remember the 4+ is the safety features on the phone, don't believe there will be "4+ chargers".
I can only find QC3 in chargers or battery banks.
I did find Razer chargers for 25$ on amazon... Which is decent, I was afraid they might charge like 40 bucks.
Only one I have found is the one razer sells for 39.99
Sent from my Phone using Tapatalk
Yeah I was looking for Ravpower/Anker/Aukey ones however they dont have anything QC4+ yet. Not that i bought the power bank for the phone as ive yet to go low enough on the battery during a working day where i have had to plug the phone in for a charge. 45mins or podcast/music 30mins lunch of netflix and 45mins at the end of the day for podcasts/music and sending the odd email or message during the day battery hasnt took a hit for needing anything to carry around.
Question
I would need a 2nd charger to keep in my bag and it raises the question of does QC4+ require a certain USB cable or will any longer USBC work fine as i was going to use the supplied one for out and about as its 1m and buy a larger Nation Union one like 10m for my room but didnt want to stress a cable or blow the phone or charger.
I found this link however most brands have only QC3 - https://www.ravpower.com/qc.html
00178273 Hama "Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ 4+" Charger, maybe this one is Q.C. 4 charger but for selected country
As far as I know Razer Phone 2 is the only phone that ships with a QC 4.0 charger and it probably is the only one available right now. It is available for $24.99 in the US at Razer.
Found one at Amazon.com for $15.99. Though, it isn't of any reputed brand, the reviews are good. Also it ships to India for around $29.
I could find a QC 4.0 car charger on AliExpress with both USB A and C ports. Not sure how genuine their claim is. Price $7.33.
Apart from that there are makers of QC 4.0 chargers but they don't specify how to buy them.
1. Portway Technologies
2. Everwin
Note: I have noticed that these chargers require a USB Type C to Type C cable.

Question What charger?

So we have the official 30W charger for £25 at Google store, which I believe most people will be going for.
The pixel 6 requires PD 3.0 with PPS for full 30W fast charging. Since chargers will no longer be available in future phones and to avoid buying chargers again in the future when charging speeds increase I thought it might be best to go for a higher charging capacity USB-C PD PSS charger.
Fortunately Spigen have a 45 Watts PD 3.0 PPS charger on amazon with charging cable included.
Spigen ArcStation Pro USB C 45W Charger GaN PD 3.0 Fast Wall Charger for Galaxy S21 Ultra Plus S20 Note 20 Z Fold Flip 4 3 iPad Macbook Air (Cable included/USB-C PD PPS Charging): Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

This should save folks from buying a charger in the future when charging speeds get increased once again.
The good thing is that this one is currently having a 25% off promotion until the end of this month, so turns out cheaper than the official Google fast charger!

No its not. It will charge at normal speeds only. For example if you use a oneplus dash charger it won't charge your pixel at 30W.
A handshake for fast charging is made between your phone software and the charger and therefore they both need to adhere to a contract between the two. This is where we need standards so that chargers become compatible across all manufacturers.
Samsung has already moved to PD PPS standards.
Google is trying to push all manufacturers to use PD 3.0 PPS standard so that all become compatible.
Also note that the higher capacity charger you purchase the more future proof you are. For example even with a 45w charger you can't charge your pixel 6 more than 30w as that is what your phone software will allow. But at the same time it means you can use the same charger to fast charge one of your latest Samsung devices at full 45w potential via USB C PD PPS (and potentially future Pixels that allow even faster charging).
I have been looking at this one that looks to be compatible. It doesn't have the future proof of the 45w above as it is 30w - but it is relatively cheap.

Even if you plug your 18W charger into your phone it will say charging rapidly. It doesn't mean its charging at the full 30W capacity!

That should do as it has the PD 3.0 standard with PPS. A word of note that you will see 30W chargers just with PD 3.0 but no PPS. These will charge slower than those with PPS but should still be more rapid than the previous gen 18W fast charger.

Just ordered the Spigen 25% discount £22 bargain thanks for heads up
I have had my eye on that spigen charger for a while now. I am actually a big fan of spigen. I have had every pixel and I have used a spigen case for each one.
I actually don't like using those high amp chargers. I only use them when i am in a pinch like i forgot to charge my phone and i gotta go. I use a chargie with a 1amp usb port on my power strip. And i only charge to 80 percent. Again if i am in a pinch or if i know i will be gone from a charger for more than 10 hours i will charge to 100 but that rarely happens. My pixel 4xl used to last all day plus and I had it for 2 years and when i traded it in the battery was still at 98 percent health.
I have a question though since we are talking about chargers. I have a lenovo chromebook that uses a 45w usb c charger. can i use that on my pixel 6? I have the base model 6 not the pro. Or will that damage it? I would assume that it would be ok but just want a second opinion.

If i ordered today i would be paying around £6 less for two!
This charger oozes quality. It is slightly smaller than the pixel 5 18w charger, comes with a higher quality braided cable, in all much better value than the Google 30w charger.
Indicates it's charging rapidly so hopefully getting full 30w
If you're not testing your charger with a usb C meter of some sort, you're almost certainly not getting 30W.
These pixels appear to have an apple style restriction on chargers. Something many people are missing is that not all PPS chargers are created equally. Google specifies 21v whereas most of the pps chargers on the market top out at 11v.
I've tried 3 different 65W 11v PPS chargers and they all top out at 18-20W.
I then specifically bought a 21v capable charger and still it tops out at 18-20W.
I'm extremely disappointed Google decided to take this anti consumer approach. The chargers I have tried are by all means technologically superior to Google's charger in every way and yet this arbitrary restriction means I'm forced to buy Google's if I want 30W charging.
I can include links/photos/videos if anyone is curious.

^ Taken from the amazon page for the Spigen charger.
No support for 21V so no 30W fast charging. Even if it did support 21V, I doubt it would go over 18-20W, based on my findings.
Of course it's ridiculous because even with "only" 20V, the charger can push 2.25A which is more than enough for 30W charging. I don't understand the point of PPS if the voltage/current combinations are not dynamic. The implementation of PPS so far seems to make a mockery of the intended purpose of the standard.

Seems to work well so long as you use a QC 3.0 adaptor in the car to power it. Then it charges at around 2A. Works through the case I have and doesn't require a 'magsafe ring/adaptor' stuck to the case to make it stick. The motorized clamp is cool, though the novelty will no doubt wear off soon enough.
I noticed most suggested QC 3 charger so I bought one plug in for my car and replaced my cigarette lighter in the truck with a dedicated USB. What a difference charging. Now I just need to settle on a wireless mount.
Yes, annoying to have to buy a QC3.0 plug when the world is moving to PD
The Pixel 6 uses PPS for the fastest speeds (which is a subset of PD 3.0). So while QS will still charge your phone faster than a standard charger, it is not the standard needed for the fastest charging on this phone.
Anyone looking to purchase a new wired charger for the Pixel 6 series should look for one that has "PPS support" and at least 30 watts of charging power. If you are looking for wireless charging, look for a Qi charger with at least 23 watts of charging power. Anything else is going to provide slower charging speeds.
Edit - I should note that apparently not all PPS chargers are working at max charging speed on the P6 either (even those with 30w or more of power). To be 100% sure your charger will be at max speed, you probably want to buy the Google brand one. Of course this is exactly why Google has made the charger an issue in the first place - to sell their version.
Anyone try these with wired Android Auto? Wondering if that works.

Not a fan of fast charging myself - just reliable (wireless) charging But certainly I would only recommend a QC 3.0 device to enable a Qi charger to charge reliably where PD was not an option for it. The Qi charger I referenced does work using a conventional 2.4A 5V car adaptor, but the battery % stays the same (it doesn't go up or discharge) so it's only offsetting the discharge rate of the phone.

Yes, annoying to have to buy a QC3.0 plug when the world is moving to PD

Fortunately I was sure to buy chargers that had 1 PD and 1 standard to keep options open.
I use a Course Mount which is car specific.

Not even the Google 30w charger puts out the full 30w. There's an article on Android authority.

That's a nice little unit. I do like vehicle specific designs.
I got a magsafe compatible wireless charger with a QC 3.0 adapter.
On first test with an approx 30 min drive and gps I lost 2% battery and phone was hot.
Second test with gps and approx same drive i gained 2% battery and phone was warm.
Last try and with screen off/no gps, I gained 20% battery and phone felt normal.
I was wondering if a wireless charger with a fan would work better but for now will just plug in if i want to use gps.

Question 40W Charger not working

I have two Huawei 40W chargers and both of them won't charge my Pixel. You plug it in and it actually discharges the battery, on both of them. It charges fine on two 18W chargers I've got, but it takes forever.
Has anyone else got this problem?
The Pixel 6 needs a charger with PPS and 21V.
Can this work?

I think this one does not have PPS.

no. this have DC 3.3-11V/3A.
you need a charger with 3,3V-21V. Samsung have a charger with 21V ( Ep-TA845 )
But not all PPS is the same. There are many chargers with PPS that have a maximum of 11V or 16V.
so which charger do we need lol
Samsung or from Google. No one else can.
I ordered this one (but on Amazon Germany).
It has 65W, PD 3.0 and PPS with 21V so it SHOULD work ... guess I'll find out later this week
Is the OnePlus 65W warp charger good for the full 30W?

I can't speak from experience, but my immediate answer has to be no. OnePlus uses a proprietary technology. You generally cannot use their cables OR chargers for anything other than OnePlus products.
I am personally coming from the OnePlus 6T which used a dash charger. Not the warp charger, but basically the same tech. And I tried that charger on the phone and it DID NOT even register that it was charging more than basic USB 2.0 trickle charging.
The 65W one is supposedly PPS and PD compliant.

don't you have your phone in hand? you just unlocked it. try to charge it lol. what do accubattery/AMPERE report for volts/amps? just do the math and you will see what wattage you are using.
but again, i am pretty certain the oneplus tech is just different and totally incompatible.
Ampere is kinda funky when measuring fast charging since the voltage readings aren't correct. But I'll keep testing.
Might only be getting 18W.
Edit: Warp Charger 65T is missing PPS 21V⎓1.5A but it should be able to do PD 9V⎓3A or PPS 3.3-16V⎓3A. Guess it's not good enough. This is incredibly annoying because OnePlus and others have followed the standard but if PPS branding isn't enough, that's horrible.
I ordered this 67W charger from Xiaomi. £18 delivered.
In case it helps:
My P6 is charging fine Rapidly with the USB-C port on a Tronsmart U5P (60w multiport charger) - maybe not at max speed, but the screen shows 'Charging Rapidly' - normal speed on the other ports.
It also charges at normal speed using a Q34U2Q CHOETECH USB C PD charger.
Update: I also tested with a Tronsmart W2PTU with USB-C port and that also shows 'Charging Rapidly'..

Ordered the Spigen as well. Quality charger and cable.
charging rapidly could mean 18w. that's what mine was on several 61 and 65watt chargers.
that's half the speed. do yourselves a favor and test a few chargers before you accept what rapid charging really is.

Question 15watt Wireless Charging ?

They offer high quality chargers as well add on that that for now only Spigen this model and samsung original chargers support "15w" other brands even if they support 15W but not compitable with S23 ultra , they top up at 10W only
I have stand Samsung charger from my s10+ and issue is that camera lenses are to low and i can't put on it in vertical position as the phone is not aligned to the charger, i need to charge in landscape.... Just a note...

I just got this on Amazon for about $50. It was 60 and 20% off, plus tax, versus $90 before tax and shipping at Spigen's site. So, almost half off.

I have these and they are dissapointing. The problem with wireless charging is a lot of the efficiency gets lost to heat due to the distance from the coils and the phone, material in between, etc. The phone heats up and then the charging speed gets throttled. Its not worth it. I have the google pixel stands which run fans on everything and its slower, but the charge rate is steady and gets the job done as fast as this exact model. For 80 dollars, (60 for one) it should be cooling the phone, and also come with a gd charging adapter. Just a huge rip off.
