Viewpad 7 Gingerbread (Vanilla AOSP)
I'm currently working on a Vanilla AOSP Gingerbread firmware for the Viewsonic Viewpad 7 (and equivalent devices), and hope to release an alpha for testing soon. The purpose is to have a slim and fast firmware as close to the AOSP code as possible.
Highlights:
- Making the maximum possible internal storage available.
- Bottom line performance enhancements.
- Multiple language support.
Notes:
- Gingerbread v 2.3.4
- Firmware should work with compatible devices such as: Cherry Mobile Superion, Commtiva Linx N700, Olivepad VT-100, Spice MI700, and Camangi FM600....but I do not have these devices, so I cannot verify. As always make a backup before installing any custom firmwares.

Looking forward to it!
Well to be honest gingerbread runs terrible on this device at the moment, and I have several force close conditions to deal with in addition to getting all the main features working properly. I am using my original Moto Droid that I have a vanilla GB loaded on (1Ghz) as a performance comparison since the hardware is fairly close in regards to benchmarks.
I'm going to keep pushing towards a relatively stable beta release for people to test, but I think this will end up being a long term project since I only get a little time on weekends to work on it. I'm not certain whether this device will be capable of running Honeycomb in the future, so this is our best bet for now. I'm not planning on upgrading to a new tablet anytime soon, so I can assure you I want GB working as much as the next guy.
good job! ^^
can give me kernel source too?^^
hi lakehousetech, how's the progress ??

Wow, Gingerbread ROM is coming... Looking forward to it. BTW, good job getting ROMs on the device.
I am very glad that you did not quit work on porting gingerbread. Good luck. We are waiting for your beta.
Any updates yet? I'm willing to help test it, too.
Nice work man! My device is ready for testing!

Hey lakehousetech,
Is there any things we can help in the technical side? As I'm the owner of the Viewpad7 and really wanted to eat the gingerbread with the viewpad7

I'm hoping to release the update.zip next week (before memorial day weekend). It would be a huge help if some folks would install it temporarily and give me some feedback. Unfortunately for this release you'll most likely have to do a complete wipe before installing. I'm going to test on my Viewpad first, and will confirm before release. Thanks for being so patient.
Very willing to do any tests!
Send me the link, and I will flash away!

Ready for trying it also....

I know marshmallow just arrived, but I have a question about N.

Hey guys. I'm coming from a Nexus 6p. I wanted a small phone and this looks like it. I know the z5c won't be getting n for a while officially, but based on your guys experience, will there be a decent stock ROM available around the time of Android N's release? Was this the case when Google released marshmallow?
Thanks guys.
HTC is usually one of the first to announce support of the latest Android release once a new one is formally available. They strive for 90 days historically, but delays come in for carrier based versions of their phones.
Sony seems to typically fall into a 4-6 month window after major Android versions are released, so early spring 2017 is when I'd guess N will show up on our Z5C's.

android 7.1 coming in October

https://goo.gl/c5s322
"Android 7.1 Nougat will be available by the end of this month in the form of a developer preview according to the official Android blog."
I know a lot of ppl were pissed about pixel phones only getting 7.1 but from this article says we will have a dev preview in October thankfully ????
It's a dev preview though. Not beta or final. Still sucks

Better than not at all
Not doing a dev preview on my main phone. My battery life is bad enough as it is on nougat
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
N dev preview 3/4/5 were totally good for daily usage, 7.1 will probably be very close to 7.0 so I'm almost sure 7.1 dev preview will be usable for daily usage too. Maybe the issue related to battery life will finally be solved too
Is it even a developer preview really when it's already out on the Pixel line up? If anything this seems like it could more like get a bunch of people to test out the new version to find bug fixes for device they are using. Probably why the Nexus 6 got N about a month and half later(unless they are doing releases based on aged and next year 6P and 5X will be last in line to get version updates.
Final release is in December. Don't fret y'all.
We still don't get the Pixel Features...
Source ist the Verge, can't Post URLs...
There's already a thread about 7.1.

Project Treble

Well I would like to know since we have Project Treble Does somebody already tried to load a aosp Rom to s9 or s9+ ? That would be good since Samsung sucks on updates and heavy skin.
I think it is not possible.... The only thing possible was to strip Samsung Experience away and have AOSP that way.....
So will just have to wait on the first Devs....

Can you review the Pie Update?

So I haven't gotten the OTA yet and even if I did I don't think I will update yet, from my ROG 2 pie experience I don't think there is much to look forward to. So if anyone of you could make a comparison that would be greatly appreciated. By the way regarding gesture navigation is it different from before or is it still the same, because Pie gesture navigation on the ROG 2 is totally different from the one on the original Rog Oreo rom which to be frank I like more.
Thanks
Good day, it's a bummer that our thread community isn't active as it should be although our phone is really underrated and deserves more attention.
Anyway coming back to the topic, I gave the new update a try and to my surprise it's well worth going through the process. Also thanks to ASUS for providing us with the Pie to Oreo stock reverback rom in case you want to revert back which is already on ASUS's rom download page.
So in a nutshell I would give the update a solid 8.5 to 9 out of 10.
I uploaded a video of the gesture navigation
in case anyone is interested which is not bad but I still prefer the old Oreo gesture navigation which is more visually pleasing. Overall I would say the Pie rom on the ROG phone is way better than the one on the ROG 2 and it's worth the wait. I hope this device will enjoy Android 10 in the future.
P. S You will not lose any data if you upgrade, simply download the rom to your device and restart the device to get the notification to update.
Good luck!
