Unlock graphics settings in Android 10 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have an android 10 GSI budget phone on my hands, previously I used GLTools in android 9 to be able to get high graphics settings on my phone but it's no longer working nor supported.
I was wondering what alternatives do I have so that I can spoof my device as a pixel 3 for example?
The game I'm trying to get to patch is League of Legends: Wild Rift(it's a unity game).
Downgrading to 9 is a no-go for me since I like to have the latest GCam. I have Magisk and can use xposed if really necessary but I'd rather avoid that.

Devs made a new, better version of GLTools that supports android 10 and 11

Yes, it works on Pie too! ™
Requirements
Android 4.0 or higher.
Xposed
A recent version of Google Play Services.
Any ROM (the module hooks into Google Play Services).
You do not have installed and do not want to install Google Play Games.
Description
I don't have Google Play Games installed, and I don't want to install it. Yet more and more games beg for it.
This module makes the begging stop. You won't see a prompt for Google Play Games anymore.
Note that this module has no UI. Just enable and disable it as needed.
Note that if you are an XPrivacyLua user, there is a XPrivacyLua hook named GMS.NoPlayGames that implements the same functionality as this module. You can download the hook directly from XPrivacyLua Pro's hook download pane. If you use the XPrivacyLua hook, do NOT use this module at the same time.
EdXposed users: Note that Google Play Services (com.google.android.gms) must be whitelisted (or not blacklisted) for this module to work. Doing so will enable Xposed for Google Play Services and will prevent passing SafetyNet.
Google Play Services Versions

That's the whole point: you don't.
This module is for people that do not want the Play Games features.
All the games I know of will run happily without Play Games installed. The module just removes the nagging.
I've clarified the description, thanks for the feedback.

Can't it be bypassed ? So we still can log in.
I like this module as indeed some games constantly force you to login but I do play some games which don't nag me to but I play the after login, so can it be possible to make exceptions for some or not possible at all?
@Fif_
awesome mod, works on HTC One M9 (MM)
I was looking for module like this! Thank you!
But.... Do you think you could add possibility to choose wich game can/cannot login g-play?
Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure how to do this.
I currently just block the Install/Upgrade dialog (because I'm tired of being asked to install it when I don't want to).
If you have Google Play Games installed, then it's not being interfered with beyond blocking that dialog. Login into Play Games will still work as usually.
Plus technically, I'm not sure how I could extract the game that invoked Google Play Games from the method I hook into.
Sorry, it doesn't sound like it's going to work, but I'm happy to hear any further input you may have.

You will still be able to login into Google Play Games from your game, if you have Play Games installed.
Only the install/upgrade dialog is suppressed.

I already replied to a very similar question, but for your benefit:
You will still be able to login into Google Play Games from your game, if you have Play Games installed.
Only the install/upgrade dialog is suppressed.
Then my idea isn't important. I'm happy without nag screen + g-play functionality.
*** Edit
Is not working right way
Nag screen don't appear but game autologin to cloud using default account. I thought that it will block login to cloud if i don't want login.
Tested on Xperia Z3 Compact LP 5.1.1 and No Play Games v0.2
Didn't work for me. I have the Google play services version that you said works. Attached is my xposed log.

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you.
Were you logged in for that particular game before you installed and activated No Play Games?
Can you log out from Play Games for that game?
Once logged out, does No Play Games work?
I'm only targeting the "Install Play Games" nag dialog in the module, and did not investigate what would happen in case you had Play Games installed...

From the log files, it looks like you have GMS v8703030.
I've only claimed to support v8703436.
Is there any chance you can upgrade GMS?
If you cannot or don't want to upgrade GMS, I'll need a copy of your PrebuildGmsCore.apk.
It generally sits under /system/priv-app/PrebuiltGmsCore/PrebuiltGmsCore.apk.
Didn't work for me. Nag screen still appears
Tested on: Huawei Y635 with KK 4.4.4, Google Play Services 8.7.03 (2645110-034) and No Play Games v0.3.

Would you mind sending the Xposed log?
I think in my case it's because I have dissabled the resource hooks to work with EMUI.

No, this is not the problem, this module does not use any resource hooks.
You have an older Play Services than what I've test with, from your log you have v 8703034, I only claim to support 8703436 and 8703438.
I have another report of v 8703030 not working (see post #12).
For me to fix that issue, I'd need a copy of your PrebuiltGmsCore.apk.
You should be able to find this file under /system/priv-app/PrebuiltGmsCore/PrebuiltGmsCore.apk.
On a separate note, your Xposed log file contains lots of other errors that are not caused by NoPlayGames.
The AppSettings module seems not to be very happy either...

Please note that all these versions (8703034, 8703436, 8703438 and 8703030) are the same (Google Play services 8.7.03). The diferences between all of these versions are the android version and the screen DPI:
Code:
To figure out the right version of Google Play services for your Android device, download Play Services info or go to Settings -> Apps -> Google Play services, and look at the last 3 numbers in the parentheses. You'll see something like -XYZ where:
* X defines Android version:
0 for Android <5.0
2 for Android 5.0 and 5.1 starting with Play Services v8
4 for Android 5.0 and 5.1 before Play Services v8, Android >= 6.0 after
7 for Android 5.0
8 for Android TV
* Y defines CPU architecture:
1 for armeabi
3 for armeabi-v7a
4 for arm64-v8a
7 for x86
* Z defines DPI:
0 for universal
2 for 160
4 for 240
6 for 320
8 for 480
Notes:
It seems that -7YZ builds became -4YZ with Google Play services v6.5. If you were on -7YZ before, you should now install -4YZ.
It seems that -4YZ builds got split into -2YZ for Lollipop and -4YZ for Marshmallow with Google Play services v8. If you were on -4YZ before, you should now install -2YZ in Lollipop and -4YZ in Marshmallow.
Looks like -8YZ builds are for Android TV.
Examples:
-014 for Android <5.0 armeabi CPU 240 DPI device
-438 for Android 6.0+ armeabi-v7a CPU 480 DPI device
-876 for Android TV x86 CPU 320 DPI device

Thanks, that was helpful.
Unfortunately, the KitKat and earlier versions of GMS (so the -0XX versions of GMS) have a very different way of invoking Play Games.
I found a version 8.7.01-0XX version of GMS of the interwebs, and the way to call Play Games is very different. There is no com.google.android.gms.games package, and I cannot find any trace of it anywhere.
So it sounds like this module is only compatible with LP and MM. KK and earlier users are left out in the cold.
I'll update the module description.
If we want to add KK and earlier compatibility, I may need help understanding how apps are calling this dialog.

Okay but you do realize it's on an unstable dev build on a Chromebook with one of the lowest-end processors in a Chromebook (ARM Rockchip)? Until it gets in the stable build and is also tested on other hardware (like the x86 Pixel), I wouldn't judge it too much.
Also, the privacy issues with ChromiumOS(not just ChromeOS), prevent it from being a real threat.

It's not about the "threat" (let's not be religious here) - it's about the options.
I honestly prefer a google supported OS with google supported hardware instead of a hack like Remix OS.
Chromebooks are amazing tools. I am expecting Android apps on Chromebooks to cause a very deep disruption in the PC market.
note the asus flip is the only chromebook with arm chip in the 3 ones that get the m53 dev update.
so i assume for the moment only the arm code is ready.
from what i know google does not want to use the android x86 open source project to make their x86 compatibility layer unlike remix os
this explain why no other chromebook have the playstore for the moment.
and yes this asus is only to show the extreme lower end part of chromebooks.
wait until the x86 code they are building is coming...
it will be another story.
you want to be scared?
imagine cloudready or just chromium os for pc
with playstore inside
if it comes.

Don't worry, while I am deeply against Google's behaviour in matters such as privacy, I do agree that if someone absolutely wants to use Google, he/she should be able to.
What I was referring to was being locked to sending personal data to Google, some of it unwantedly.
I think that ChromeOS, or at least ChromiumOS, should at least allow you to create a local owner account, with connecting to Google as an option, should you wish to.
Had that been an option, then I would have been of the same opinion as you.
Anyway remix for the moment make a really bad desktop.
Without a way to select sound inputs and outputs most of the time we got no sound or sound in the wrong output...
Also it need to change resolution on the fly like most os does...or just change screen scaling because remix os on some screens is not usable at all...
And what about include a desktop grade browser that support extensions.because remix browser is as useless as edge for the moment.
The things is ,chrome os have all those fixes already inside.

I agree with about half of what you said.
However, changing the DPI on the fly may have to wait until Android N.
And while I don't think that a browser has to have addon support, I do prefer it that way.
By the way, Firefox for Android supports both addons and themes, as well as plugins and addon frameworks (e.g. Greasemonkey), so technically you could put it on RemixOS.
And I thought RemixOS doesn't have it's own browser, rather arriving with the AOSP Browser?
I personally prefer Lightning Browser on Android, it's so light without comprimising on absolute necessaties.
All the rest, you're right, there already tools to those on the fly (with root).

well now it comes with chrome included.about firefox well i never used on android.
but in case of need of flash or silverlight for old sites i dont think it will handle them with addblock in same time.
root and tools in remix is another story, mostly because this is not easy, and most of those tools just not work on remix, for example on remix to be able to patch sound you need to change the kernel...
not stability or update friendly.
and not usable by everyone.
so i think google will go to the right way here.
but remix?
lets just say remix should count the month or year it have left.

You brought some very important points, however I have to say that I disagree with you, since:
1. Jide could always update the kernel to support on the fly audio channel switching.
2. 3rd party developers could do the above.
3. RemixOS is still in beta, and literaly is reinventing the wheel when it comes to Android, so instabilities are to be expected.
About #3, some of what RemixOS is doing is becoming redundant with the native Android APIs in MM and N, so if Jide chooses to yse the native APIs, then RemixOS will become much more stable.
FF can can handle Flash fine with an adblocker (I recommend uBlock Origin), however you need a patched version of Flash for it run at all on Android 4.4 and up.
And by the way, Silverlight is unsupported on both Android and ChromeOS.
Please don't think I'm bashing you, or being zealous.
I'm just trying to answer all the points, and I have a tendency to be formal.
I personally would love to use ChromiumOS, however the mandatory Google owned user policy (the owner account has to be connected to Google), prevents me from doing that.
I need the owner account to be strictly local, plus other reasons which will take several days or weeks to explain.
Thanks for telling me that RemixOS comes with Chrome, by the way.

no it is ok,you made some point but for android n it is wait and see on what will be available in the final version.
remix was good to kick the bee hive i think
it kinda made move the big name os and things are starting to change, but as always in the long run it is another story.
Chrome OS isn't open source and the framework for Android apps on it isn't too; which means only Chromebooks, and always online is part of owning one.
Google is already taking Android down that same path more so on MM and up.
for example with permission controls(enforcement) I would like to use a word processor and one of the permissions is location so i block that but guess what can't use app until i enable location again. have to use google app installer instead of aosp, etc ...
Windows as a service =$hitty Windows (always on even if you use a local account only)
Ubuntu= Unity was ok for 12.04 LTS(went downhill from there)
Android can be viable without Google Apps/services(despite perception) there is Fdroid and XDA labs; Chrome and Chromium can not.

it is true actual chrome os is closed source, but they use a open source base (chromium os)
and distro like cloudready or arnoldthebat are clearly advanced already.
i just hope someone will figure a way to port the android part on those distro.
but stock android N x86 will already be something good.

Using the Enterprise edition allows you more freedom, however, I still can't disable Cortana.
I like Unity 8, however Canonical is right now at crossroads, and they seem to be edging the same path as Google, Microsoft, and others.
By the way, I mainly use Gnome 3.20 as well as Budgie, since I mainly use Antergos (as well as Solus OS).

I know, I was just pointing out that there is an open-source version of Chrome OS.
And thanks, I didn't notice I had made a spelling mistake until I saw it in your quote of my previous post.
It should be "locked", not "locled".
I guess we all reach one point in life sooner or later when we stop being ideologists and start being consumers. I used to care and tinker with all my software and all my devices, tuning and optimizing, caring for a device like it was a pet. I was switching linux distros like clothes, writing my DOS drivers and optimizing memory usage in config.sys - nowadays I don't care. I want Android on my system just to stick to the same UI as my tablet and phone. I want Android for the apps, not for the ideology. I couldn't care less if my user is "owned" by Google - I can handle my own privacy.
Having said that, if Google or Jide will be the first to offer Android on desktop for me - I will use it. If Chromebooks will - I will use them. I am too lazy to think about open source. Just give me something that works and it's fine for me. No matter how much we delude ourselves, RemixOS doesn't work for now. I can't be expected to throw my nVidia card just because nVidia is closed source and gives no **** about the community.

I'm something in the middle, and I hope it will stay like that.
Ideology and practicality/consumerism.
Android and open Source Chromium
I read that GOOGLE will never release Chromium OS with android support. What I am saying is unless someone hacks the Chrome os and pulls the OS apart to get the required files and what not to make a hacked copy of chromium with android it is NEVER going to happen.

A Challenge! Old App Emulation

Hello All,
I am new to the forums and android emulation in general. [Sorry about not being able to post links]
I have been trying to find a way to play the following game for what seems like ages now:
I am Unable to Post Links, But it is in the google play store as (Trap Hunter -Lost Gear- Lite)
Thing is, it's no longer supported supported by modern updates, and I have spoken with the developer and he no longer plans to update it.
I have tried to emulate it using MEmu, Genymotion and Android Studio using Versions as low as Kitkat (4.0) , with the same result of it crashing on startup.
According to the games website: Google Search: "Trap Hunter Lost Gear" It is Spec'd to run on Android OS 2.0.1 'Eclair'.
I have been unable to get an emulator to run this version unfortunately, and was wondering if someone here might be able to see if it works?
Thanks.

Enable unofficial ASHA Hearing Aids support to android 10 devices

Hi,
I'm looking a way to enable AHSA protocol to device that are on official Android 10 with official updates from manufacturer
Last year Google has annouced Android 10 will support Hearing Aids with ASHA Protocol, specification are open, but i think integration to Android 10 phone is not mandatory
I have a Oneplus 5 and recently Android 10 has been released out to this device by OnePlus
Sadly, i can't stream music directly to my hearing aids.
As far i know Pixel 3 and Samsung devices are compatible, i've tested with a Samsung S10e and this is working great.
Google provide a technical specification for ASHA Protocol, i dont know if this for dev or something ? https://source.android.com/devices/bluetooth/asha
So what i've found so far when playing around with my OnePlus 5 :
- I've decompilled the bluetooth apk from my OnePlus 5 phone and there some files related to hearing aids in the bluetooth apk bluetooth.app/sources/com/android/bluetooth/hearingaid
- Found a file text in /System/etc/bluetooth/
in bt_profile.conf at the end of the file
Code:
#Hearing Aid profile and its configurable features
# hearing_aid_support with default value false
[HEARING_AID]
[B]hearing_aid_support = false[/B]
I've rooted my device with Magisk and i've tried to change to "true" and reboot but changes are reverted back maybe because /system is read-only ?
i want to know if someone can dump the file from a pixel 3 or a Samsung S10/S20 device and share here ?
@johnstinks
Only to have mentioned it:
Android's hearing-aid setting is stored in Android's settings.db under System: It's either 0 or 1.
https://android.googlesource.com/pl...e/+/master/core/res/res/values/config.xml#131
Try setting this to true using an overlay?
sorry .., i've no idea how to do, i've never compiled a rom or anthing
my message is a bottle sent to the sea, sharing idea to enable / force the support for hearing aids for phones on Android 10.
I would also be interested in a way to activate this in custom roms. I'm waiting until it's more widely available before I get my next phone
Bumping up this thread. My dad just received his new hearing aid, and initially the audiologist told us direct streaming is only supported on iPhone, but upon closer checking, I found that selected Android phone models are also supported. Sadly, his Huawei P30 Pro is not on the list.
I tried pairing his hearing aids with my sister's Samsung S10 and it worked like a charm, it even has the hearing aid icon beside the bluetooth device. Although the P30 Pro supports Bluetooth 5 and has Android 10, it doesn't recognise the hearing aid.
Hoping that some experts here can share if it's as simple as rooting and enabling the setting, or is there something in the bluetooth APK that needs rework in order for the hearing aid function to work?
Hello,
I need this feature really, too.
Does someone got a way to enable it on a rooted smartphone?
Best regards
bump !
any idea, maybe with magisk module we can enable the feature ?
Best Regards.
Trying to find the solution for my son with his Xiaomi Black Shark 3, anyway so far I didnt find any ASHA solution, so I am going to check Phonak hearing aid which should support BT connection via A2DP and HFP, so it could be temoporary workaround without ASHA support on phone (seems to just on few Samsung and Google models at the moment). Anyway ASHA is final solution of course, all advices would be really appriciated.
On my OnePlus 5 i tried a custom rom called "ArrowOS" this rom does have a experimental flag "settings_bluetooth_hearing_aid" i enabled this flag and i have hearing aids support !
Now i have to found what actually does this flag when i enable it. ( what file is modified)
here some link from the android source code where the flag is found:
if we understand how to enable the feature we can maybe create a magisk module that enable ASHA for any phone on Android 10-11

Hi I just came across this post as I also want to enable ASHA on an 5t. Does it still work for you with ArrowOS?
know how to enable this feature???
I'm adding my name to the list of folks that want to do this as well (I have an Umidigi A9, but it sounds like the same basic issue applies).

This would be really great.
Following. Thix is really interesting
As ASHA is mainly enabled on the software side (given your hardware matches the requirements), does this mean that custom ROMs on Android >= 10 supports hearing aids streaming ?
As soon as I received my Widex Moment headset, I have been using a hearing aid since I was a child, I feel very sad living in a world where technology was for everyone, adding walls for the sake of money, back to top, I also use the Redmi Note 9 Pro which uses Android 10 and BLE but doesn't pair, I tried a lot of things. Why should I have to buy a new phone instead of fixing it, 2 years have passed and they have not fix it or update about this. I have spoken with Widex & Xiaomi support, the 1st one told me that will add more mobile devices to his list, the 2nd one seems not to be so interested since he does not reply to my email. Once again I feel so bad, I hope someone will can give a solution to that.
I will try Service and Feedback from my phone also

Below adb command enabled the hearing aid option in my rooted realme x running on Android 11 device but could not stream audio to hearing.
adb shell settings put global settings_bluetooth_hearing_aid true

In the same boat here, with same phone. I am about to get cochlear implant activated.
The problem with P30Pro afaik is that Huawei have disabled unlocking of our phones meaning we will never get custom roms or install 'hacks' which is pretty ****.
One would think after all these years of ASHA protocol spec being available it would be implemented more, but no. Outside Pixel, Samsung and Apple its pretty dead in the water and I don't know why since it appears to be just editing one or two lines of code to activate it.
At this stage we can only petition to Huawei to enable this feature.
