I am crazy go from Mi 10 to Poco X3?! - Xiaomi Mi 10 Questions & Answers

So i have Mi 10 for like 2 months and so far i am so disappointed from it. Mainly from camera which is not as good as i expected (in my opinion Mi 9 which i had before had much better camera and overall results from all 3 sensors) miui 12 is terrible and only good thing i can see on my Mi 10 is battery, 90Hz amoled display and maybe sound. I drop Mi 9 beacuse of super good offer on Mi 10 and i thougth it will be great but its not. Couple days ago i bought for my girlfriend POCO X3 and when i see what that phone can do for fraction of price of my Mi 10. I mean display is not amoled but panel is look so good and 120Hz si awesone, battery life is exellent and camera in my opinion is almost the same as Mi 10 wich for the price of POCO X3 its just hilarious. So i am thinking last couple days to drop Mi 10 and get POCO X3 because its just much better value.. I am crazy?!

No, you not crazy. Im also very disappointed from Mi10.

How i wrote a down on Foto section, the camera setup is trash. The 108mp main camera cant take normal fotos, cos its washing out the background, from 5 meters too. And its ****, if i want, that everything is sharp on the foto. 13mp wide is also bad. 2mp macro ist a joke. Sreen is ok, processor is ok. Im want back my Mi8. It was a super phone. Good Fotos, good size. Fast enough.

Yes exactly!!! Camera is the most disappointment. Sometimes it nail the photo but 80% of time photo looks bad.
Here is good example. I had Mi 9 before Mi 10, photos are super sharp thanks to laser AF and good sensor. Mi 10 just focus on middle a rest of image is just bad.

The Problem is the big hype around bokeh. Now this is the trend. And when the Mi10 have a normal main camera and extra the portrait for bokeh , than i dont care about wide, cos with Gcam i can make from 9 foto very good wide. My opinion is, that 2 good camrea is enough. But now phone manufacturer racing, that who can put more camera tje backside of the phone. I hope, that trend will changes amd coming normalisation in this theme.

I could probably list a dozen things that I think the mi10 does better then the x3, but at the end of the day it's you that has to use the phone, so if you prefer the latter then what does it matter what anyone else thinks or says.?
If you think Miui 12 is terrible though, what are you going to use on the x3.?

You guys are on crack if you think Mi 10 is not good. Like photography part of phone I never comment because I would pay serious money for phone with no cam, or some whatever cam, just give me performance and battery. And this phone does those 2 better than most phones. I don't understand how can you put Poco X3 in same category with Mi 10. Yeah 120 Hz make it feel like Mi 10 but under the hood Mi 10 is beast on it's own and this OLED screen is too notch even tho is 1080p, I compared it head to head with OnePlus 8 Pro and minor differences could be seen.

The camera is excellent, stop saying nonsense and don't be so ignorant

The phone hardware is amazing, what sucks is MIUI! It feels like someone made a custom rom full of bugs and lags, it doesn't feel like a stock rom at all. I had oneplus previously and their OOS is way way better!

MIUI is custom ROM, I am kinda ancient when it comes to XDA and I remember how MIUI started and we all old heads were hyped to see company take over community work and put it into their phones out of box. Now OnePlus latest updates made their phones lookalike Samsung UI, so what you had on your OnePlus is history. And on almost any phone if you like stock android experience so you can tweak and tinker it AOSP ROM was the way or som custom ROM. So the charm of Android phones is all you need to like is hardware and you make your own looks and feels out of vast majority of ROM. I know some phone lack of even Root support or Bootloader is locked forever. But I kinda cringe when I see people on XDA complaining about looks of Phone and it's software when they can tweak it and being on XDA implies you want to tinker. Just have common sense people, don't be lazy and complain.

Not my point at all! I said MIUI doesn't feel like the original rom the phone came with, which means: it has alot of problems, alot of lags, animation stuttering and so on! The hardware might be good but the software totally kills the experience for me. As for tryingcustom roms, I am currently on a custom rom, but those still have some issues. Also when I buy a phone I expect it to work all good out of the box: hardware and software. And for xiaomi this is the first premium flagship I have tried that the hardware feels like a flagship but the phone feels like my old redmi note 5(last non flagship device I had)

i'm with the others who think the mi10 camera is pretty good. what you said about "focus on middle and rest of image is just bad", well that's bokeh. REAL OPTICAL BOKEH, not processed/faked ones: something that's not possible with smaller sensors on phones typically, and approaching what you can get with much larger dedicated cameras. It's not a fault, but an achievement, IMHO.
What might have also impressed you the wrong way is probably the characteristic cold tones of the Samsung sensors compared to the much warmer (lab tested pleasing) tones of the Sony sensors. Though Samsung sensors would typically appear sharper overall even with comparable resolution, never mind between mi9 and 10. Sharpness and resolution should be hands down in mi 10's favor. Getting GCam should help a lot with dynamic range issues in difficult lighting (you seem to have unfavorable/difficult lightings for both of the Mi10 samples compared to the mi9, which were both shot with much better lighting conditions).

Trust me, its not real bokeh. I have couple cameras at home and real optical bokeh looks really different then what Mi 10 does to images.

Cameras suck man, suck big time. My old pixel 2 has a way wayy better camera(which is a 3year old device). And even though I use gcam, sometimes that is not stable, and whats the point of a 700$ phone if alot of stuff is not stable and keeps lagging?

Does all u guys having such issue plz guide me.

A new camera app isn't going to change the results because the problem is partially hardware-related and partially firmware related:
engadget.com said:
The OnePlus X's camera may have the same megapixel count as its more expensive brethren, but the similarities end there. Yes, it's got a 13-megapixel sensor, but it's a smaller sensor than the OnePlus 2's, and so lets in less light. It's also placed behind an f/2.2 lens, which is a third-stop slower than the lens on the 2. The result of these concessions is a much poorer experience.
In good lighting conditions, the X can capture a decent amount of detail, but it's difficult to predict whether you'll get a good photo. There's just no consistency here; in a typical five-minute shooting period, I saw underexposed and overexposed photos, vibrant colors, subdued colors and totally inaccurate colors. The X is quick to focus, though, and shutter lag is minimal.
In low light, things get worse. I took the phone along to an industry event featuring live music, and happily snapped away. During the show the images seemed fine, but I came home to find they were universally bad. There's an over-aggressive anti-noise algorithm that sucks all the detail out of photos, and the daylight exposure and color issues carry over as well.
I'm not sure that all of the OnePlus X's problems are due to the sensor; it's more likely the software. That's not to say that OnePlus can fix everything -- this will never be a great camera -- but white balance and exposure settings seem like something OnePlus could improve through updates. And it really needs updates.

Software updates won't change the fact that it's a small-ish sensor behind mediocre glass. A so-so camera is all this phone has.

Agree - updates won't radically change the quality, but they can improve it.
Also, if camera is that important to people, you'll have to spend at least double than what you are spending for the X.

I don't agree. Xiaomi mi4c got great camera and is just a little more expensive.

yes the whole Xiaomi series including the Mi4, Mi4i and Mi4c have better camera then Opx..
But then if you are buying a oneplus you are surely not doing it for the camera.
I also have a mi4 that has a way better camera. But the MIUI launcher sucks. Also the custom rom scene for MIUI is active but childish.

Xiaomi Mi5 Review

Hi guys, I've had my Mi5 for almost a week and have been using it non-stop as my daily. Here's my full review video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0SQCJNFdtE It covers everything from the build, camera, benchmarks, GPS, charging time and gaming.
Overall it's not a bad phone considering the price and the power Snapdragon 820 you get. A premium build and one of the better 1080p screens I've seen. But it's ultimately let down with a disappointing camera. Doesn't live up to 4 Axis & Xiaomi marketing hype machine. 4k video is full of artifacts and the focus is all over the place at times.
Still gaming it will play everything at 60 fps, super smooth and the battery can give over 7 hours of OST. I do like the size build and feel of it.
Pros:
Very good at benchmarks
Super smooth gaming
Doesn't seem to throttle or get too hot.
Preium build quality
Excellent audio output, both 3.5mm and loudspeaker.
Cheap for a Snapdragon 820 mobile
Great front camera in good light*
One of the better 1080p screens I've seen. Super bright at 565 nits max brightness. (Not quite the claimed 600 nits)
Cons:
GPS performance is quite poor for a flagship. Won't lock on and use GLONASS sats
The camera is disappointing. Not up to flagship spec when recording video
Camera struggles with focus at times and in low light
Front camera drops frames in low light and video is choppy due to this
Very slippery build. I have almost dropped it countless times (Skin or case needed)
Camera samples:
4k Video samples:
Not maasively fussed on camera performance tbh.
Other points are valid. Although not 100% on build quality just yet. The left side of my rear case is ever so slightly raised off the front and it's bothering me.
It's a lonnnnng trip back to China for a replacement!
Here's a clip of the Mi5 running Antutu 6 Vs my Galaxy S7 Edge and Redmi Note 3 Pro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-UhVrlMCDQ
It gets close to 140,000 points which is very decent.
Hey, what kernel version does the mi5 use eg 3.10, 3.16, 3.18?
Thanks
I've been hugely disappointed with the Mi5. I got it the day after release and it just hasn't felt right. I came from a Mi Note, which has probably been the best phone I've ever had. Perfect size in my opinion and everything works perfect.
The Mi5 has a strange size and the even more curved/rounded back just doesn't feel good in the hand. It's far too curved. It should have been more like the Mi Note. I don't feel comfortable holding it without a grippier case.
Despite the Mi Note having a Snapdragon 801, the SD 820, in my opinion doesn't offer a huge difference in speed and normal everyday tasks like browsing, reading news, listening to music and watching videos and the odd game.
The finger print sensor is ok, but I think the round sensor on the Redmi Note 3 is superior. It looks ugly on the Mi5 I think.
The camera is speedy, yes. But so was the Mi Note camera. The quality is not noticeable in my eyes. And the 4 axis OIS is just a big gimmick.
Haven't been this disappointed with a phone since I last used an iPhone haha.
Im always using a silicone case with my phones.. GPS is fast i cant complain here.
The camera is very good in Daylight, bad at dark places.. i tried to adjust with manual settings but so far not really successful.
Samsung and LG has longer experiences in building Cameras or Mobile Phones, so don`t expect too much in Dark places.
But one thing i like, is the price-value in Xiaomi devices which is good.
Xiaomi mi5 is it new make?
Xiaomi has created U.S. wait AN awfully lasting for a successor to the Mi four, and, thankfully, we've got not been saddened. The Mi five offers a chic and applied science unibody style and guarantees high performance, due to its flower 820 processor and Adreno GPU.
Marshmallow, along side Xiaomi’s MIUI interface, ensures a high degree of customization choices. The fingerprint scanner and NFC are each valuable additions, enhancing user expertise.
The device’s processor, battery and camera, on paper, area unit promising, and a radical check within the close to future can ensure the extent of the Mi 5’s talents. I would like to say its looming Android Smartphones in India

The camera on the Mi 5 won't be as good as the S6! (Not saying it is bad on the Mi 5. Just prepare yourself)
Why this: Samsung puts pretty nice cameras in phones and has good software behind it. It's hard to challenge Samsungs position in this matter. (For most brands.)

Yeah I just thought so. But I fortunately don't feel myself beeing a hobby photographer, so it's an issue I can deal with.
Either way Xiaomi will surely release some updates to the Mi5 camera as the OIS has some pretty big bugs.
And because the Mi5 is much cheaper, I can tinker with it. I will most likely try to fit a QI receiver inside on the 1st day (and post the results).

Thanks skoobee. If you can post a couple of low light shots of the two devices, I'll be very grateful.
Apparently gsmarena, unlike every other reviewer, has found a very mature camera performance.
I will try and do that in the next day or two. I have to say I am extremely impressed with the mi5. I was a little worried about signal strength in my house as on the s6 is very very poor and I have to use Wi-Fi calling. With the mi5 I can't use Wi-Fi calling but I don't need to. The signal is about twice that of the s6 but the clarity is so much better is unbelievable (even better than s6 on Wi-Fi calling)

seems good quality video!
I've had no issues at all with 4K video, smooth and jitter free...
And my girlfriend who has been using an S6 for over a year immediately found the Mi 5 camera far superior.
1080p display.... a bit disappointing.,...
I don't see 1080p as a negative. The DPI is 400+, is probably higher than the human eye can see anyway, and higher PPI is sacrificed for better battery life. I find it a bit PPI and mpixel chased a bit strange, especially when our computer monitor 24"+ is typically 1080p. I prefer thing such as quick charge 3.0 and usb c type as the most important things. Coming from HTC - king of bloatware that can't be removed without root, I am looking forward to sleek a Xiaomi

Worth getting over a s8?

So I'm in need of a new phone. Right now I'm using a redmi note 4 with custom roms.
What I'm looking for is a nice camera for the price, good speed for at least 2 years and nice design. Also custom roms
Is this worth getting at 350 euro for the 128gb against a S8 64gb 380 Euro. There's also the s7 edge at 200 euro. The s8 is used and I don't have any guarantee that they have not change somethings (like replacing display etc)

Does it happen offten. I mean comparing it to a s8 camera ( I know s8 has one of the best cameras around) would it be as good as 80% of it?

No not often but it can happen. It's not really a deal breaker but the S8 I would say is the better phone because it's made by a better company, has a better screen (though smaller than the Poco) better 3rd party support. Yes the SOC is older than the SD845 bit all depends on what you want from a phone. I brought the Poco mainly because it has a headphone jack, a card slot and was in the price bracket of what I could afford and didn't want to buy a second hand phone
I replaced my s8 for the poco, the camera is decent if you use Gcam but of course is worse than the s8.
The battery life and the modding possibility are much better but you should decide what are you looking for in a phone before buying it.
The Samsung water resistance, wireless charging, amoled and NFC are hard to turn down, but a new F1 still wins in my book - bigger battery, better SoC, plus it's new
If you're looking for a camera phone, best look elsewhere. Not to say that the camera is bad, but do note this does not have OIS, only EIS. So if you have shaky hands you best use a camera stand or take multiple shots (it's easy to do that just hold the camera button). I have had good shots with this phone and I'm satisfied with it (since I don't care much about cam quality, I'm after the SD845, though the shots i took were ok for my tastes).
As said, if you're gonna use your phone for amateur photog, you need steady hands and possibly a stand, but for the price, the camera is great.
If you badly need an amazing camera, look at the s8 or possibly oneplus, but the Pocophone cam is decent. You can google some shots taken by other users for reference. Here is one I took from my dim room and see if it suits your needs.

I just want to take a few good pictures to show my workflow and be done with it while using a flagship phone performance.

To tell the truth I might take 10-15 pic a year so yeah not much of a camera guy. The reason I ask about the camera is because I'm a programmer and need some pics of my workflow so I though might as well take them with my new phone.
I will go for this only for the reason from where I am people here sell refurbished phones without saying it. A refurbished S8 (it might be) is worthless against a new phone. Also Xiomi is kind of known for custom roms.
ps: to the one saying S8 has better community. From what I could tell on xda the s8 didn't have much compared to xiomi phones ( I compared it to my note 4)
I have s8, s9+ and poco. Poco has the worst screen of all but not by that much comparing to s8, since it can be very bright and its viewing angles are fine. The camera using the gcam is adequate, better that stock s8, worst than s9+, but again it is adequate.
Performance is better on the poco, talking about daily activities at least, is more fluid and fast. Overall quality, is surprisingly adequate on poco, and since we all use case on our phones, more premium devices like the s8/s9 will brag a bit less. Last but not the least, unlocking the bootloader does not void the warranty for the poco, but its a different case for the samsungs.

Since you mention performance, does androud stutter still occurs in flagships like poco f1? Like literally every android I had in hand (not many flagships though) has some kind of lag sometime.
Nope I would sell this for a s8 because it lacks so many features
Bad eis
No ois
No 60 fps in any mode
It's screen doesn't support real hdr its just plastic looking with very innaccurate colors.
The only purpose in upgrading would be the processor.
I think the only differences in this phone is that
The official dev community and the xda community are very active like posts each day.
But if you really want a phone for pubg this phone can handle it at hdr 60 fps 720p mode. It's viewing angles and lighting are about 75% of what you would get with an oled panel.

For me, I haven't experienced any lags. I'm on pie now btw. My only issue is for some reason they removed the system option to hide the notch(not really an issue since I use nacho notch a 3rd party app to remove notch). Everything works fine for me. I can run simultaneous programs with no lags, I can play heavy games with no stutters and the rom community is amazing.
As for your camera usage, it takes clear pictures and is sufficient enough (I use it sparingly since I'm not a picture buff). I use it sometimes for document scanning and it's clear enough to show the letters in the docs. For selfie and family pics, it's nice and adequate, though you shouldn't compare it to phones who specifically target photo buffs since the main point of poco is SD845 and I can say it's fast and smooth. Though as mentioned photog is good and adequate to take clear photos for normal use
Some people say there are issues but I haven't experienced any of them at all. No touch lag, no screen bleed and the Poco team really has good aftersales since they respond and really converse with their consumers (see xiaomi forum app about latest updates with Poco and you will see they do acknowledge most of the issues, unlike some manufacturers). I'd say for the price it is a snatch and I do hope they launch more of these "flagship killers"
Almsot forgot, there is one more thing you should be wary of, the notifications. I think you already know this but notifications do not stay in the status bar, so if I were you, use this mod. It moves the clock up a bit sk that the notifications will stay below it:
https://mi-globe.com/miui-notch-notification-mod/?codename=beryllium
And for more info
https://mi-globe.com/miui-notification-icons-for-notch-phones/
I would always recommend buying anything other than Samsung but as a Poco user my advice is, skip both and buy Oneplus 6, if you can find it somewhere affordable

Mi 9

So the china launch of the Mi 9 is today. Anyone buying it? I most likely will if it's around £450 for 8gb /128gb variant. I want me some Snapdragon 855 goodness.
No 4k60fps and 3300 battery? I will pass for the next phone when maybe they choose to upgrade the baseband to global 4g+
My next phone will be OnePlus or Pixel
Full specs
6.39” FHD+ AMOLED Display
Triple Camera
-48MP primary f/1.75
-12MP telephoto f/2.2
-16MP ultra-wide f/2.2
Front 20MP f/2.0 @Qualcomm Snapdragon 855
6GB RAM
64GB/128GB Storage
In-screen fingerprint sensor
3300mAh Battery
20W wireless charging
I'm so disappointed by the battery size. 3300mah is less than the Mi 8's battery.
Battery is not that important for me. The disappointing thing for me is lack of OIS. No matter how good the sensor is, OIS is a must have in my opinion. Sensor itself is small enough to have lots of struggle capturing enough light in poor light conditions, removing the OIS will only make the situation worse. I hope that they change their plans for Mi Mix 4 camera or whatever gonna be their next flagship.
The lack of OIS will be felt while capturing photos in low light. Its a big drawback for me
No OIS, no IP rating, no stereo speakers, smaller battery...no thanks!
No way. Waterdrop in 2019? No thanks. Small battery? No thanks. Worse camera in my opinion, nothing special in this phone.
Next phone will be One Plus, Im tired of Xiaomi.

I just read the review, it scored good 107 points in DxO mark test, while battery seems to last longer thanks to SD855...

DxO is not the best place to check camera Anyway, even in their test autofocus is worse than Mi 8.
Look at GSMarena comparison tool - its worse than Mi 8. Why? Because it sets high iso and fast shutter comparing to Mi 8. Mi8 shoots in low light with for example 1/15 and ISO 900, but Mi 9 shoots 1/50 and ISO 4200. Its terrible!

"DxO is not the best place?" Then where need check camera?
GSMarena? In my opinion the worst place to check the camera..
Hello.
In gsmarena picture compare tool, view 20 is much better with the same sensor, so it must be software.
Especially in lower light, mi9 is weaker than mi8 and also redmi note 7... Dxo mark score is not logical, maybe there are phones with diferrent software... Despite the score, it does not seem like a great camera, just average, a little bit weaker than mi8. But it has a wide sensor and better hw so, price wise....good enough phone and camera.
Mi 9 gives you sooo much for 500$, but you are looking for some meaningless details in pictures that no one will mention when you post it in FB, Instagaram, Twitter....etc. For sure ~2000$ phone makes much worst pictures for a bucket of money it costs
There is no such offer for hi-end hardware on the market and I`ll take advantage of it when Global version is out.
It has A LOT of things going for it:
https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_9_specs_and_features_officially_revealed-news-35564.php
https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_announces_more_mi_9_features-news-35578.php
But I feel my Mi 8 still has more than enough life left on it to swap it.
The only reason I'd do it is to sell it at a great price and just add some more to get the Mi 9.

Same unless I can get it with those ebay discount codes cheaper. I'll probably go for the S10e.
What was the deal breaker is probably no OIS and low light photos suck.
My next phone will be pixel
After all the crap of waiting 360+ hours to even be able to unlock the bootloader I wont be going Xiaomi again, especially with them now building in Adverts into the base operating system the one thing you want is unlock and a different rom

I think they pledged to make it simpler, imagine with that the Mi 9 Xiaomi has already provided the source code lol.

If you plan to upgarade to MI 9T PRO...

Don't!
I've swapped my mi8 for mi9tpro two weeks ago, and man did I made a mistake:
- mi8 is much comfortable to hold in hand
- mi8 has unmistakable and fast as hell fingerprint reader (fpr), mi9tp has hit/miss and slow fpr.
- face unlock is unusable and slow on mi9tp, on mi 8 works i every light scenario and it is instant.
- battery life is similar on both devices (5-6H SOT)
- gcam works perfectly on mi8, on mi9tp it uses too high iso values and it crashes a lot
- speed is similar on both phones, but eu rom on mi8 is perfect and was much speedier for me then mi9tp
- only thing that i like on mi9tpro is video with ultrawide camera, but man, it is not worth the money.
Anyway sold mi9tpro, a buyer should pick it up this afternoon. Bought mint condition 128GB mi8, and saved 200E
Thanks for your opinions, surely it'll give an idea to users.
I was thinking of doing the same.Selling mi8 and buying mi9t pro or OnePlus 7.I m closer to OnePlus now.Thanks.
Can i ask how much have you bought mi8 128? (Used i believe).

200€ used, mint condition, in Croatia.
My friend has op7p, it is too big and heavy for me, and curved screen is inconvenience.

can completely agree your opinion, i had the same with a MI8 and the MI9, MI8 was a superior phone and as i switched to the mi9 there was a lot i was complaining about, ... especially the missing OIS in camera.
Mi8 with google cam is unbeatable so i can feel with you !
Good, to know that. Now i was think about , that i sell my MI8 256gb and i buy the MI9T PRO 128gb.So, i stay by MI8. Thx
If anyone needs a cheaper phone, or maybe wanting to a buy a phone to give as a gift.
I bought my 15 yr old daughter a Xiaomi A3 and I must say that I am really impressed with its speed, excellent camera, and overall beauty. Plus it comes with Android One, and she loves it. no doubt that it is perfect for a teenager, parent, wife or girlfriend and with its 665 processor its faster than I expected.
Finally the screen resolution may only be 720P. However the Amoled panels makes the lower PPI, hardly noticeable, and the colors are much better when comparing the A3 panel to 1080 LCD panels.
Remember 1 thing mi 9T pro its still new device that need some time to be stable of any rom also how they got same sot? Mi 9 t pro got 4k mah and snap 855 its kinda got reduced consumption of battery so maybe you dint try it much? I can agree about OIS at camera point.

Do you mean the camera on Mi8 is superior to Mi9?
I thought the closed loop motor without OIS is better than open loop motor with OIS

Its a subject matter, but my opinion is the MI8 camera WITH OIS and google Cam is better than Mi9 camera without OIS.
I have a Mi8 (now my girlfriends phone) and had a Mi9 and have done a big comparison between both phones. My conclusion was to sell the Mi9 because the Mi8 does greater Images than the Mi9.
I think we both know how much value we should give to DxOMark ...
Its just a subject feeling for me and my opinion because of my personal comparison.
I've to say i got the Mi9 in the early days and i think xiaomi did a big improvement in topic software on this phone and also a camera improvement but just for me:
When comparing my Huawei P30 Pro images with my girlfriends Mi8 Images, i'm again and again blown away by the colors (gcam) and HDR+ on this phone.
My biggest disadvantage is the lack of a ultra wide angle lens in the Mi8, if it had this, i would sell my p30 pro and buy a Mi8 again
Gcam Apk

Thanks so much for your comments.
I too have been using Mi8 for over a year, and am wondering if should upgrade to Mi9 or 9T Pro.
Now you pointed out there isn't much improvement, I think I'll hold on to it until the next model comes up.
Cheers.

Yes, as i said, i had both phones and just for me the camera of the Mi8 was better. Even the fingerprintscanner on the Mi8 is insane instead of the Mi9's indisplay fingerprint reader.
By the way, my Mi9 unit had a big battery drain issue, this was the main reason beside the camera for sending them back. In fly mode everything was fine, but when enabling data the battery drains extremely fast i couldn't fix this issue.
As a Huawei P30 Pro owner i can say: if you've a Mi8 with google cam and do not need necessarily an ultra wide angle lens, play around with some gcam ports, find the right one and settings for you and you're lucky.
The phone does exiting images even compared with all Flagship smartphones on the market right NOW.
what about Mi9 Pro 5G version ?

I also want to know this! Because well, it's expected for the facial unlock to work worse than in the Mi8 because the Mi8 has a 3d face sensor and infrared light and all those dedicated hardware.. that's why the notch is so wide.
