[GUIDE] Switch software region to Upgrade to ColorOS 11 and enable Dual Sim. - OPPO Find X2 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

I want to write this here so it's all in one place and not scattered around different threads. Apologies for the bad formatting in some parts as this is on of my first contribution. Most of this is copied from this thread: I am adding onto this based on my experience and a twitter thread that I can't seem to find anymore. All you need is a Windows computer, ADB, and a super shady program (I've tested it and there don't seem to be any viruses in it). Let's get started.
DISCLAIMER: Use this at your own discretion. So far, when it works, it doesn't wipe any personal data and nearly no issues are caused. Still, I am not responsible for bricked devices, broken warranties or lost data.
If you haven't already, enable Developer Options and USB Debugging.
Next, download the Oppo_Free_Unlock_v1.0.zip file from the attachments and extract it somewhere.
Before you run anything, though, there's a little preparation that needs to be done.
Open Device Manager and expand the Network Adapters category.
Find your Ethernet adapter and double click it to open its properties.
Go to the Advanced tab and find the Network Address option in the Property pane.
Under the Value pane, select the radio button next to the text box and paste in the following: 704D7B61ABCD.
If you don't have an Ethernet adapter, try to find another network adapter here that has the Network Address property. It may help to install VirtualBox, since it will add fake Ethernet adapters.
Close the properties window and close Device Manager.
Go to where you extracted the unlock tools. Open Sec5.exe.
Make sure your device is in MTP mode, and then press the Unlock button.
After about a second, a string of numbers and letters should show up in the left pane. A few seconds later, "OK" should start flashing in the right pane. If it says "device not found" or something similar, make sure MTP Mode is activated. Press "Stop unlocking" and close the window.
Open the phone app on your device and dial *#3954391#. Then dial *#391#. A screen should come up with a whole bunch of regions listed. Choose this one: "Singapore Ex". Note: This Version has Theme Store, but no Ringtone Maker. Feel free to try other versions. EDIT: DO NOT CHANGE TO A REGION WITH CARRIER, ESPECIALLY THAILAND AS YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO CHANGE BACK! AT LEAST WHILE ON ANDROID 10. STICK WITH THOSE THAT END IN EX. Once you have done this, it appears that you can always bring up the region menu when dialing the numbers..
Your phone should now reboot. Once it's rebooted, your region will have changed.
Every time you changed region and want to change it again you need to use the software. You can get a code that you can use every time to change the region instead of using this software every time. (Update- one person report that this code(token) wont work for every time as his STAMP code changed.)
For this you need to: Open the dialer app , dial *#9434# ,press authtokendecrypt. You will see a IMEI and STAMP. Open the Sec5.exe and write the IMEI and STAMP shown on your phone in the blank space of the IMEI and STAMP in the software and press Generate a token, you will see a string of numbers and letters, write it on the token blank text box and click authtokendecrypt. Now you will see every text written in green. Now you can follow the steps in the guide but skip the steps that have to do with sec5. The Token that the software gave you is the same code that you need to enter in the *#9434# every time you want to change region so you do not need to use the software ever again.
UPDATE: Currently, it doesn't seem to work anymore for some people. Try installing Loopback network driver ( How to install Loopback) and uninstalling or disabling all other network drivers. If you are afraid of doing this with your own device you can use a Virtual Machine, too. I tried it this way.. Rest of the process is the same, just change the network address in Device Manager the same way as before.
Now that you are on the Pakistan Version, you can also run the device in dual sim mode, which was disabled in EU Mode. Some users have ordered Dual-Sim-trays on AliExpress and are now able to use it in this way. Also this might open up the path to unlock the bootloader, since that is limited to chinese devices only. I have not tried this out yet, though.
In theory, changing your region like this should work on any OPPO device running at least Android Pie (9). It may even work on earlier versions.
NOTE: This will not work for Chinese variants. These codes are filtered and will only work for international variants.

This really has worked so well at removing the carrier's brand and installing Android 11, also with changing region you get access to the theme store and other oppo services and apps, had to install Pakistan A.45 and set to Singapore ex to get Android 11

Why is the Download file named CPH2023PU which is the codename for the non pro version. Does it not matter?

It's fine. All the firmware download seem to be named that.

Worked like a charm...

Thanks for the guide. Im not sure if I want to go through this just to avoid waiting a few weeks, although I guess dual sim option may not be available in the EU version of the Android 11 update?
Btw, any chance to get a link to buy the dual tray? Or is it a secret? Maybe by MP instead? Thanks in advance

Well done on putting a guide together. The other thread was getting quite messy
Just some additional info.....
It's not the Pakistan ROM that enables dual SIM, it's changing the region to Singapore EX. I believe dual SIM variants are only sold in Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.
DO NOT CHANGE TO A REGION WITH CARRIER, ESPECIALLY THAILAND AS YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO CHANGE BACK! AT LEAST WHILE ON ANDROID 10. I DID THIS AND WAS STUCK IN THAILAND REGION UNTIL I GOT THE COLOROS11 UPDATE. STICK WITH THOSE THAT END IN EX.
Also, while it does enable dual SIM and appears to work perfectly on the phone I'm using right now, you should be aware that there is still only 1 IMEI number (a dual SIM phone normally has 2 IMEIs).
SO BEWARE - I've read that in some countries they will blacklist and IMEI if it detects 2 numbers registered to it at the same time (as it's normally a cloned phone). Mine is ok here in the UK after running 2 SIMs for a few days but could potentially cause an issue later on.
Saying that, as it's actually 2 SIMs on the same hardware it will hopefully be ok. I'm wondering if Oppo will pick this up and block the hack in a future update
I've ordered 5 black and 5 gold SIM trays from here, they're on their way to me now.
https://www.sunsky-online.com/product/default!view.do?subject.itemNo=SP7322B
They were only 64p each and £4 postage, so thought I'd get 10 and put on eBay for anyone else wiling to try. Not looking to make a profit, happy to just cover the cost.

From what I understand you only need two IMEIs if it has two transceivers. The find X2 pro has dual standby SIM so both sims use the same transceiver meaning only one SIM can make or receive calls at a time

That's interesting, thanks for the info. I've had dual SIM phones for that last few years and they always come with separate IMEI's (dual standby or not), but it's working fine with just one so can't complain

WARNING: this won't wipe your personal data, but for me it caused some issues- however others have reported no issues. After I wiped all my data, my issues were gone also. So just be aware that things can go wrong, and you might loose data or even brick your device.

After this, if you have to load this version on your device. In order to do this, download the file and store it on your device. It's not really a hassle. Just follow the instructions and it'll only take you about 5 mins. I done my phone and my misses phone within 10 mins. Now we're both rocking Android 11/ColourOS 11. Dual SIM is enabled on my UK variant. But I darent try using 2 SIMs just in case it gets blacklisted because they're both the same IMEI.

Is android 11 worth the upgrade may be a better question? I have uk variant but unsure if changing it to Singapore version just for android 11 is worth it. I won't be needing or using 2 sims so it's just about the software experience

[Update 6] Today plugin for dual sim holders

Here it is a Today Screen plugin that allows the display of the IMSI code (or a custom label for it) of the current active Sim. Works for all dual Sim solutions allowing to always know which is the SIM in use.
From my personal experience I prefer the use of simple power on-off solutions because they consume the same amount of energy of a normal SIM. The digital solutions provide a nice STK application but the resource consumption is not acceptable (especially for HTC Hermes). This plugin solve the main problem of the simple power on off Dual Sim holders: knowing which is the active Sim.
Configure your custom labels in the Today option dialog for the specific item (Dual SIM Today).
Update:
Added menu to switch with a single click between the sim (works only for power on off adapter)
Added the operator name associated to the SIM
Some bugs fixed
Update 1:
Added configuration parameter to:
Activate the display of operator name
Define the Sim switch mode: traditionally with a menu or directly with a tap & hold on the today screen (with the stylus or the scroll wheel)
Some bugs fixed
Update 2:
Added an option to disable the switch functionality
Added the capabilty to open the option dialog directly from the today screen
Update 3:
Direct access to the menu with the action button (or scroll wheel) without menu gesture
Fixed bug in the highlight of the plugin
Update 4:
Fixed bugs in the management of option dialog
Update 5:
Show the last switch time
Update 6:
Fixed operator name redraw
@forum users; help me in setting the priority of the enancements; currently they:
. support for Stk adapter
. support for dialin adapter
. check sim (periodically verify that the right sim is active)
. automatic switch based on specific rules
...
If the tool is useful for you feel free to donate something
.

This is sweet! Thanks. Now just need to find a dual sim adapter that is compatible with 3G.
Plugin is brilliant. Ideal for me would be to include it in plugin existing for the Today. I do not understand of programming but I have found this in wiki:
Show Network Operator Name in today screen
Restoring Today Item: WiFi, BT and Phone Connection Status:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items]Create "Wireless" use Key
"Flags"=dword:00000000
"Options"=dword:00000000
"DLL"="netui.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000004
Enable clicking on the today plugin above to open Comm Manager
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\WrlsMgr]Create String Value "Redirect"
"Redirect"= "\Windows\CommManager.exe"
Pardon by my English. I am Spanish. Thanks.

JPW, I have your same configuration in term of base software (except for Hermes, mine is an Hermes 200) and it works. Did you tried the plugin immediatly after the reset?
In order to understand what happened can you write details of the problem? when does the hermes hang? during installation, configuration, etc? What other software do you have?
Thanks and sorry for the problem.
Is it specific to Hermes somehow, or should it work on any WM5 device?
Can it be used with multi-SIM SIM cards (like 16-in-one), or it is somehow intended only for (some?) dual-SIM adapters?

It is not related to Hermes. It uses standard Windows Mobile APIs. I tested it on Hermes and WM6 (Black 2.0 and 2.5) but it should work on every devices with WM 2003 and up.
The basic plugin should also works for every multi sim card. The functionality to switch the active card is currently working only for power "on off" dual sim card (I'm developing a version that works also for digital dual sim holder).

Hello, Pelargonium
I enclose a photo to you with which I consider that he would be ideal. To integrate the DualSIm Plugin in the Wireless Plugin, since space is saved.
I have a SIMORE GOLD that works perfectly with the TYTN, although the change I have it to do with menu of own dualsim. The one of plugin does not work to me. I hope to help but that to bother, and again, pardon by my english.

Hi, I think you're product is great, just what I've been looking for BUT... I'm afraid to say it doesn't quite work. I have an early dual sim adaptor (cut) that requires the phone to be turned off/on to switch. I'm running it on a Orange M600 (prophet) with Jesterz 2.20 rom. Your switcher switches the phone off OK and then back on... BUT it doesn't register on the network.. just gives me a "!" next to the little signal icon. It displays the right number for the sim and all just doesn't fully re-establish the signal. I have also loaded a WM5 version of WIVIT sim switcher (from this group) but as it doesn't allow me to define my own number it's no good. However, when I have WIVIT loaded and on screen, YOUR product works fine.
I would rather just use your product. Any clues on how I might be able to fix this?
Thanks
Dave.

@qdavhen, I tested the plugin only on Hermes with different WM6 Rom, because I don't have other devices. let me test it on the WM5 sdk emulator and I'll give you a feedback.
Thanks Pelargonium,
I've found that after running your program if I go into phone options and select "Find Network" then the phone starts again. I've been doing some digging around and *think* it might have something to do with needing to wait longer between switching off and then back on again... hope this helps.

Fixed and updated the first post. I've also added the name of the current operator. Please try it and give me a feedback.
Thanks
Pelargonium.
Pelargonium,
Works a treat! Thanks! A couple of small changes that would make this perfect... you have added the operator (eg. O2-UK - 123456789) I would suggest removing the minus sign AFTER the operator and just leave a space. Also rather than tapping and holding and then selecting "switch sim" is it possible to have it switch sim automatically when tapping and holding? These are just small things. Otherwise it is fantastic! Dave.

[Q] Dialer issue - phone reboots when making calls

Bought the Atrix last week and unlocked it with the help from the webshop as I'm in Belgium, no problem connecting to Mobistar wich is my provider and data connections works great. But I'm having real problems making phonecalls and recieving calls; the phone reboots or the dialer hangs and it looks like a call is going on when it's not, phone still works but flashing green in the notification area and it's impossible to hang up, need to reboot. This happens like 80% of the times I try to make a call. After a reboot it works fine to call and hang-up one or two times then it crashes again.
Also noted that my Dialer often runs twice in the Running Apps manager - is that normal??
Anyone having the same issues or know what to do, reinstall the Dialer app --> if so how? Is it a hardware or software problem??
A little more info: when I recieved the device it was in a sealed Atrix box but the phone was used and already had an active Blur account so I had to do a hard reset to be able to use it... --> was it returned 'cause of faulty dialer or radio... then resold to me... not nice if so...?
Tried to install dialer one app but it seems only to skin the original dialer...
It's a greate device and works great othervice but in the end it's still a phone... which should be able to make calls...
Help
Ive got an unlocked Atrix too and now in Germany, I have the same problem. Motorola should definitely look into this.
Here's a quick fix for it thou, (not permanent)....
1. type *#*#4636#*#* on the dialer
2. Chose Phone Information
3. Set preferred network to GSM only
Viola...its fixed
problem with this fix is that you wont be able to use your 3G network but the dialer should be working.
Thanks Nazrin (for both replies) !!
It sure did the trick, though no data access is not acceptable on a phone like this!!!
So this meens that all unlocked Atrix's in european GSM networks have the same problems? Haven't seen any others reporting this and there are quite a few in use I've noted in other forums.
Was thinking of trying to have mine replaced (which probably won't be easy and take long time...) but that won't change anything then??
We have to wait for the european version of Atrix rom I suppose??
Any others with the same problem??
No problems buddy, glad it worked..and i have to agree with you..this bug is unacceptable...it seems the phone just ***** up everytime it calls on utms (3g)...im sure there is more people with this problem...
Sent from my Supercharged MOTO ATX
I have the same problem
Hi guys, I have the same exact issue (I'm also in Belgium, on Mobistar). I'm somewhat glad to hear this is a generic issue, and not an issue with my specific phone. At least I can be fairly certain replacing it won't solve this issue then.
I made another post here before I came across this one, has a bit more info: we are seeing modem panics when using 3G + outbound call. I've also contacted Motorola support to no avail:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028771
You can also read there that I tried another operator, and it did not crash with that one (although 3G did disconnect).
Hopefully Motorola/Qualcomm will start to notice the bug when they release the phone globally, and release a fix.
Either that, or we all have phones from the same bad batch
This bug is really bad for users in europe....cant call on utms...
I really hope motorola takes this seriously cos if there's no fix via software updates then its moto gone for me
Guys, you are all on unlocked att atrix right? I do believe it is a simmiliar software glitch/bug/lock that you have porblems using it on non att networks as the problem with the wifi that it stops working for some of us (check the thread about it for more info). As all suggests there it is a config file problem, unfortunately i or anyone else doesnt know yet which one....
Yeah maybe..but funny thing is wifi is working without a glitch...will have to read that forum later...
Workaround options
So, since it seems we're not gonna get this fixed until there is a new radio/modem firmware available for flashing (and even then..), I've been looking for a workaround.
Found two potential applications that could do what we need: disable data completely when making an outgoing call, or switch to 2G:
- Sanity
- Superpower
I've tested the first (Sanity), and it does not work (fully). It does seem to disable data, but the bands aren't switched so our problem remains. I've contacted the developer here: http://tagliamonte.net/forum/thread-10.html. He seems to be very responsive, so given enough interest, I think he would add the functionality we require.
The second app I only came across today, and have not tried yet. It does not have a function to specifically switch bands when making an outgoing call, but it has a trigger for "Foreground application", so if we make that the dialer/contacts... Question remains if it will be able to do the switch.
Hopefully one of these will lead to a decent workaround for all of us!
Well done unknown...i will try these apps... but the real fix should be from moto...im always reading the net for anything that can solve this issue
reboots on incoming and outgoing calls
Same in Russia on Megafon network, I had to enter 4636 menu and use it as "GSM only". Even this does not fully solve problems, e.g. call forwarding does not show the new destination number while it does actually make the phone divert calls correctly.
My hope is that UK release will trigger new software version which will address this issue. ANYONE has news on this?
FIXED!
YAY! I just fixed this issue
What you need to do: flash the radio from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052914
You have to use RSD-lite, since sbf_flash will not work. Flash the 1.87 baseband and enjoy working HSPA (including unlocked upload speeds ^^)
Now I can finally appreciate this phone fully
Enjoy guys!

Worked for me as well..brilliant!!!! its working here in germany.....but I wonder the telstra radio will work in my home country with frequencies of 900/2100
Motorola Atrix restart when placing a call
I just got the same exact Dialer problem now, but the flash radio file is gone* in the pointed post, and I don't know exactly how to flash the radio.
Someone can help me? I need the radio file and step by step instruction to how to flash it.
BTW my Atrix 4G works perfect for a year till this Dialer problem started past week.
I also use my phone as a full Linux computer when docked, and it works very fine.
Thanks
* The file was on megaupload, that was closed
No answer
Why I never got an answer of any post I did?
There is something wrong?

[Sorry for problem in speaking]
i had that problem too , im using CM13 with Marshmallow Version of android
So . the easy way is :
***** search "Default" in settings. then choose " System dialer" as Default ! just it ****
but if there is no search bar in your setting . try this patch:
Android 6 : Setting/Apps then click the setting icon on top(may be diffrent in your case) , then Click on "default ...." then choose " System dialer" as Default! :fingers-crossed:
but in some cases that it didnt work . they have to reinstall gapps .
Or in official Roms , reset will be usefull
any quastions?

[Q] Use Android Device without entering SIM pin at boot

If I take the SIM out, the device will boot and give me access to contents, (obviously, phone is off).
BUT if SIM is in, I cannot get past the pin input screen, and this is exactly what I want to do.
I want to be able to give the device to my son to i.e. read a pdf, but I do not want him to be making / answering calls on my SIM.
Sure, I can take it out, but do not want to if I do not have to. (I might lose it too!)
In other words, if no pin is entered, one must be able to use all but the phone on the device.
After all, the lock is for the SIM, not the device!

Is your device rooted? Not 100% sure if this will work but it's worth a try, I would recommend opening your build.prop and looking for the line that reads:
Code:
keyguard.no_require_sim=false
And changing that to:
Code:
keyguard.no_require_sim=true
Another option would be to use a parental controls app such as Smart AppLock to password protect the phone app, messaging, etc. preventing your son from having acess to these in the event that he navigates away from the pdf he was reading.

I can disable SIM pin request by going into settings BUT that is not the issue. If I do that, then the phone will be available.
I want the device to boot with the phone unavailable since no pin is entered.
REMEMBER WE ARE TALKING ABOUT SIM LOCK PIN, NOT SCREEN LOCK PIN.

There is another problem with this solution:
I have TWIN SIMS (2 sims with the same number); however, only one is allowed access to network. If the devices that the sims are installed are both on, then none of the sims is allowed access to network. (The idea being, if you have 2 phones, you do not swap sim all the time).
So it is important that that sim is not activated by entering its pin.
In other words, we want device to go on in "airplane" mode.

If your device is not rooted then unfortunately my first suggestion will not work (Because editing system files such as the build.prop file requires root access), but to answer your question the build.prop file is a file that contains a list of default Android environmental properties and system properties that define a variety of aspects about a device. The edit I suggested refers to SIM lock and SIM status not screen pin lock. Another possible solution besides the parental controls app would be before you give your son the phone is toggle airplane mode and disable all connectivity.
SOLVED!
At the sim pin request screen, press and hold power button, enable "Airplane mode"
DONE.
I think shimp208 desrves a thx for his help...

Android for Work built-in support? (an app exists to see this)

Can someone assist me in seeing if this phone has built in support for Work Profiles (required for Android for Work using Google's MDM)? Google has an app that will tell you if the phone supports Work Profiles. Trying to find a device that is dual sim, with LTE ability with either sim (obviously only one at a time), that also has support for Android for Work. The Zenfone 2 supports it, but only has LTE ability on one sim. The Zenfone 2 Laser has LTE on both sims, but doesn't support Work Profiles. I've discovered the P8 Lite does support it via the Marshmallow beta, but I'd rather get this device.
Google's app in the Play Store to use to test is: Test DPC. You would only need to proceed through the setup to where you either get a message saying the phone doesn't support work profiles, or stop at the place where the next step is "Encrypt." If you get to the latter place, the phone supports Work Profiles -- at this point you can just cancel out and no setup or changes will take place.
If you aren't familiar with Android for work: http://arstechnica.com/information-t...es-to-android/
Appreciate any help.

Thanks so much for checking that on your phones. One more question -- if you have experience using dual sim on this phone, what is the behavior of when an MMS is send to the sim that is not set for LTE? Is it the normal behavior of getting an sms notification with download button (then pressing download, which makes to phone switch to the other sim)? If it works something like this, that will be all the info I need to make the decision to buy the Honor 5x
Again, appreciate you using your time to assist me.

Honor 5X supports dual standby, so you can receive calls and texts on both numbers.
The Dual SIM Management settings let you pick the primary card for 4G/3G, default mobile data, default calls/messages for 3rd party apps, and call forwarding settings.
Thanks. I've not used a Dual Standby devices before (or DSDA device for that matter). If an MMS (something that requires data) comes in on the line that I don't have data enabled for, does a notification still come through to let me know a MMS is waiting"? My understanding is that this is how it works on a DSDA device (Zenfone 2 Laser, for example), but want to make sure DSDS works similarly (apart from not being able to take calls on both sims at the same time).

I rooted my poco to follow this xda guide and im 99% done. Please send help ><

Hello fellow poco lovers. I used Mint mobile in the US which uses T-mobile's towers. I'm able to makes calls and send/receive texts, but the mobile network sucks. The poco only has 1 wireless band to work in the US with mint so while I'm driving around delivering pizzas I lose internet a lot and sometimes very difficult to get reconnected. I've found a few temporary fixes but those temporary fixes have become more more less reliable.
I found this guide to add wireless bands to any phone with a Qualcomm chip on xda and it inspired me to root my phone. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-add-all-gsm-and-lte-bands-to-your-phone.2886059/
After about 2 weeks of unlocking bootloader>flashing twrp>flashing magisk>flashing a custom rom>getting the right gapps> soft bricking my phone flashing gapps>reflashed custom rom from sd card>reflashed gapps from sd card>reflashed magisk from sd card>flashed kernel from SD card(yes all in that order)
So in that guide I posted above it mentions a hidden USB settings menu by dialing *#0808#. (I know the guide uses a code for a Samsung phone but Xiaomi's code is the same)
When I type this in the dialer I get a message saying "USSD code running..." then a message that says "connection problem or invalid MMI code"
I even downloaded 4 different hidden menu apps and found the USB settings but I get errors trying to load it as well.
I have LineageOS 19.1 and NGK.
I guess my question is, are the dial codes/hidden menu apps not working because I soft bricked my phone at one point, or am I missing something?
After finding as much info as I can, I guess phones lose access to dial codes and hidden menus when on custom roms and kernels. It looks like some phones have a solution but I couldn't find anything for Xiaomi/Poco f1.
I'm gonna try a few more things and will update this post when I get more info.
Thank you for your time
