Tempered Glass & Film Screen Protectors - Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Accessories

Since there are no threads here regarding screen protectors I thought I would start and share my thoughts on one I'm using. Share your experiences and links
******* tpu film
I bought the one from *******, to much of my surprise it actually is quite good.
Installation was easy with an included guide/holder. The film has 2 parts that lets you apply the top half first then the bottom.
It's super thin, like what you'd see from the factory. The TPU film is also really smooth.

Not sure why it's putting *** in place of the brand name, lol

Even if it puts *** the link actually works lol

I can see that few people suggest this screen protector for other devices too. Can someone share their user experience for this particular brand. Thanks!

Screen protectors. The big shootout.

I've been looking at some reviews including a very lengthy one from a couple of years back on Youtube where he tried about NINE different brands (Including anti-glare or crystal from the same manufacturers) and he tried pretty much most of the known brands including Zagg. He did miss out Martin Fields and a few others though.
I've seen the XO skins are pretty easy to apply wet. Much easier than the Zagg.
XO aplication.

Brief thumbs up from someone.

Large shooutout of various screen protectors. But it's a couple of years old and for a tablet PC rather than pads.
http://www.youtube.com/user/tonkabui#p/u/0/9XdVHL1M7vM
I am going to continue looking. But if anyone finds the perfect screen protector let me know. That XO looks easy to apply. But I want anti-glare and anti-reflectin as well as anti-smudge and 0 bubbles (in other words eacy to apply). Protection from scratches is actually pretty low down my list of wants.
If anyone can post their experiences (good or bad) of various screen protectors please do so here. I noticed there is a reasonably priced TF1010 anti-glare protector made by Posr.us and has two five star reviews on Amazon. Also someone called MFX is making one as well as Martin Fields and SGP Steinheil.
Thanks I needed one still and this looked decent and easy to apply (I prefer the wet application) I bought it and used coupon code "retailmenotxo" for 15% off ... it covered more than the shipping so that was cool.
I put on Skinomi on my beloved transformer. yeah it's a wet app, and I'm not yet skilled in it's application yet, but certainly feel much safer with it on than not - even despite the alleged "scratch resisteance of Gorilla Glass"
well my screen has a scratch only had it a week

Well, scratch resistant =/= scratch proof, so all those people who say Gorilla Glass is the reason why you shouldn't need a screen protector are fooling themselves. I personally have a clearfreak protector on my transformer. It definitely makes me feel more at ease when I use it.
I bought two of the (as far as I can tell) unbranded screen protectors from ElectronicCrap.com. Other than the non-existent directions, I'm quite happy. Not terrible with the fingerprints, reduces the glare, feels and appears quite durable. Price seems a tad steep (given that you can get whole packages of universal ones for like $10) but these fit perfectly edge-to-edge with the cutout for both the light sensor and the camera. It didn't come with directions of any kind but it's a screen protector - it isn't rocket science. I'd say overall it's a keeper.
I picked up a dcmugen antiglare from ebay and I love it. Damp or dry install, the type with the two peel off layers, and repositionable to boot. It ships from Asia, and mine came with a slight crease causing bubbles that cant be flattened. I've requested a replacement, waiting to see if they follow through. So much easy to use indoor and out, and far fewer fingerprints to clean off.

Got a zagg at bestbuy today because I was bored more or less. Installation went well even though the thing stuck to itself. But a few hours later and I'm bubble and wrinkle free nd protected. Now to decide if I want a spg crytal or not....

I bought one as well, but it looked like crap on mine. Hen again im terrible at applying these things. I usually let Verizon put screen protectors on my phone.
Has anyone tried the skin protector from PhantomSkinz? I have their carbon fiber back skin and it looks great and is durable

My experience with Zagg has been mixed with all my devices but their customer support is good. If you get a bad protector(line down middle, or little imperfections) they will send you another.
The XO skin looked very promising, and for $10 cheaper I thought I would give it a shot. Just placed an order for the XO skin.
Use discount code retailmenotxo for $3 off(free shipping pretty much)
Pulled the trigger on an XO
after watching all the youtube reviews, i decided that the XO looked best.
ordered one this morning.
just a thanks to all the folks responsible for putting the links and testing together in one place for time-challenged guys like me.
btw, i think the transformer is one of the smartest purchases i've made in the last few years. i'm thoroughly enjoying it.
marvin
Following up on my earlier post. Installed the XO skin in my university's clean room(0 dust, yes I wore the cleanroom suit) and it has streaks. The protector quality is very good but once you put it on there are visible streaks all over. I kept the applicator wet so there would not be "burn marks" as specified by the instructions.
Going to ask for a refund... maybe I'll give Zagg another try. My first ZuneHD protector was wonderful but the 2nd one I got had a big line down it(bad QC).
The perfect screen protector
I always have problems applying the screen protectors to any of my devices, so I did some research and decided to go with one made by a company called Aurum. The deciding factor was that it had a large cut out for my camera so its easier to apply. Overall, I am very happy. I got the two pack in case I messed up the first one.
http://www.amazon.com/Asus-Eee-Pad-...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1308242480&sr=1-4
I dont think I will ever buy the wet applicator types again, the dry is just simpler and gives me choices in whether I want a clear or the anti-glare. Hope this helps
Here is the link to the anti-glare offered by Aurum in case anyone is interested: http://www.amazon.com/Transformer-M...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1311083745&sr=1-1
I usually get Bodyguardz for all my gadgets (mostly phones). It just feels better than Zagg's invisible shield and other screen protectors.
Anyone tried using Bodyguardz? I'm thinking about getting either the full body protector or just the screen protector. Hmmm this is tough.
Following up... after 24 hours drying/curing it looks much more acceptable. The funny part is there is a tiny black spec under the protector. I don't know how it got there since I was in a cleanroom!
Found this one in Amazon, similar to the Aurum with anti-glare.
Anyone has used this ? Is this any good ?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0056K5D0G/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=A1NOY9EOR8TXD6
Hmmm... I have previously considered to buy it too, but I've seen the Gorilla Glas Test with the Transformer in a YouTube video... you dont need a screen protector
I just got a screen protector from Photodon. Their MXA film is great. It was a bit of work to put it on with no dust and correctly aligned. But once it's on it looks pretty good. It's got a glossy finish, so it looks just like the original screen. You can hardly tell that there is a screen protector on the transformer. It is pricey at almost $20.00 each, ut the screen is still sharp and crystal clear with none of the haze that a lot of cheap screen protectors have.
xxx.photodon.com/p/MXA-5445-01.html
I used to have Bodyguards for my HTC Touch Pro and it peeled after three months both times that I used them. Now I use Phantom Skinz and I get no orange peel effect and I've had one on my HTC Evo 4G for almost 1 1/2 years with no peeling and no orange peel effect. Smooth as glass and you can't even tell it's on there.
Now I have Phantom Skinz screen protector on my TF and Phantom Skinz Chromatics white carbon skin for the back side. Very nice to say the least.
I would highly recommend a screen protector for the TF because although it has Cornings Gorilla glass, it sux for finger prints and fingerprints are easier to wipe off of a sceen protector than the Gorilla glass.
im using the steinheil Ultra Crystal. also use it on my phone.

Anyone using Protectors and Skins by GadgetShieldz

Hi Guys,
Since there is no good tempered glass or screen protector available for the S7(not edge), Spigen has one but that's way too expensive and I wasn't able to find an authentic one in the market. Has anyone tried protectors and skins by GadgetShieldz? Here's the link-
http://www.gadgetshieldz.com/samsung-galaxy-s7-screen-protectors-covers-cases.html
The plus is that if the product is as good as they are describing then it covers the sides too. The con is that there is no actual proof or hands on video regarding the same+it is still expensive atleast for me but there's no other alternative.
Thanks
I just ordered the matte and the ultra clear screen protectors. I didn't buy the body because I have a Rhinoshield bumper and back protector. I'll post a review once they arrive.
Good product the body shield is
Have been using the Gadgetshielz full body protector for 6 months now. It is quite good and the cuts are precise. Quite a lot of work, applying them is. Be patient after applying, in a week or so, the bubbles and wobbles will sort themselves out. Was hard to believe when I completed installation and saw what a mess it was.
That doesn't look like tempered glass. I will NEVER go back to the flimsy protectors. Too many issues with bubbles, etc. But, I have yet to find a tempered glass that full covers the edges. It's more of an issue when things are right at the edges (such as text) that makes it difficult to read, but I'll take that as it's rare knowing that I have a tempered glass protector on that does a better job of absorbing the shock of a drop.
Using their screen protector, with my rhinoshield bumper case and no bubble. Wanted glass first but all those that I bought, the case lifted them or they had the big halo, lifting all around cause the curve screen.

Thanks mate. I bought two and will report when it arrives
So, here's why review-
Finally ordered them. It was my first time that I was installing any sort of protector and I was super nervous. The protector kept coming off. I had to wet it with the solutions many times. I drove out the bubbles as many as I could but the end result was way too foggy and messy. But after 48 hours everything was gone, except few dust and fingerprints particles which are my fault BTW there's a huge particle of dust on the back button. Can I lift it up just a tad to remove it? I still have the solution, I am planning to wet it to reapply. Will it work?
Also can anyone suggest a good cover for S7? My current one is a chinese one, but I think it will remove the side protectors if I take the phone out few times because with the side protectors the sides bulge out a bit. @r3xx3r @ere1nion
Any way to get the same cover in India?

I searched for a month, ordered like 10 different tempered glasses from various websites but they all sucked. GS's protector is not a glass but it is the best alternative to a glass.
An out of context question, what are these four stripes/white lines located on the top and bottom side of the phone for? Just along the charger and speaker in the photos below-

Those plastic lines are antenna separators. The frame of the phone is used for different antennas, so they must be separated.

An update, I used my phone with the Samsung Gear VR yesterday and when I removed it the protector from the upper side of the phone, where the front camera is got removed I tried to paste the same but it is full of bubbles now . Is anyone else using GS's protector with VR?

Correct it is not. I use the Otterbox Commuter and Otterbox Defender so this is not an issue for me particularly. I had a partial screen protector on already so no shift in change for me there either. I just received mine in the mail today. The back application was by far harder than the front. I didn't get it perfect. It's the material used on the back. I will not be testing this screen protector but I feel confident with it on. Hopefully it will never need to prove itself.
So, my protector is screwed thanks to Gear VR, it kept on removing the upper part of the protector every time I put the phone in the Gear VR or took it out. Has anyone tried the so called buff guard(a type of tempered glass) which covers the whole screen even the edges? Is there any alternative for the GadgetShieldz protector?
My wife just upgraded to an S7 (tried the Moto Z and it was too big, bulky and heavy for her). She wanted a tempered glass screen protector, but not like the one I have (which doesn't cover the entire screen due to the curved edges of the S7).
After much research, I found the amFilm glass protector was one that was listed in many top-10 lists as being excellent. This covers the entire glass but gives room on the edges for cases. My wife has a Speck Candyshell case for her phone and the screen protector works fine with it. My only issue with it is that on the top and bottom (which is fully protected), it's colored. So you have to choose the correct color based on your phone (black or gold). I don't understand why it has to be colored. Why not make it all clear so you can see the actual color of the phone? But it DOES cover the entire screen unlike the earlier brands that came out. And it was very easy to apply and there are no bubbles at all. Touch response is excellent from what I could tell. I tested it and couldn't find any "soft" or "blind" spots that didn't react and I just lightly touched, so it was pretty good. I'll wait and see how it goes with my wife after she's had it for awhile. It also comes with a lifetime warranty for the purchased product. That means, and they state this in the documentation that comes with the protector, that the warranty does NOT apply to a warranty replacement item. So that means, if you've swapped out your initial purchase with a warranty item, you'll have to purchase a brand new screen protector to get a lifetime warranty again. That is pretty standard across most things like this, so I have no complaints.
Here is the gold colored one that I ordered and installed since she has a gold S7:

Thanks for such a detailed review. There are many protector glasses of that sort available in India, all of them are manufactured in china, but not the brand which you have mentioned. The reviews of the chinese one's is pathetic. So, I didn't go for them. Can you please check and confirm whether the phone fits fine in Gear Vr with the protector that you have installed or not?
This one, though its for the Edge model, looks tempting but I will wait for an early bird's review before ordering the one for the non-Edge version which should be available by tomorrow-

Official Samsung S8+ Screen Protector Review

Well I have been struggling to find a decent screen protector untill now.
Online there were alot of terrible reviews on most protectors due to the protectors not sticking. They lift after a few days, reduce the touch sensitivity. The good ones have a sort of dot matrix you can see when the screen is tilted certain ways. So I thought I'd order the genuine Samsung ones I thought hey who better than the manufacture.
I wasn't holding up much hope but I was pleasantly surprised. It isn't a glass protector and it isn't quite the film protectors. It's a little thicker the clarity is crystal clear and the feel is nice. It works with certain cases but not huge bulky ones. I tend to use a case for work and I have a skin on the rear of the phone to stop scratches and a screen protector on the front. Touch wood I haven't broken a phone yet. I want it looking nice and shiny after a year so not to bothered hiding it with a skin.
I will update this review in 7 days after using it in my day to day life. The protector has adhesive all over and is easy to fit as the outer protector has two alignment tabs to hold and a white line the matches perfectly to the bottom and top edges of where the screen starts so you can align perfectly.
I purchased mine in the UK for £14.99 you get 2 in the packaging which is pretty substanical so they shouldn't loss there shape when posting either.
Feel free to ask any questions
Happy reading and happy purchasing.
If you have this protector please write how your experience with it has been so far.
Just ordered these too as I found a very faint scratch on my screen.
Let me know how you get on mate.

Please keep us posted on this thanks.
5 days later so far so good the screen protector also works with a tech 21 clear impact case! It hasn't lifted as of yet. Tiny bit of dust being collected by the very edges ever so slight other than that it's perfect.
I'm also wondering how it's doing. Does the protector cover right up to the edge where it meets with the medal? How's it feel...like olephobic coating and feeling smooth...not rubbery.
It is holding up perfect for my usage one issue which I caused I nicked the bottom of the protector which has caused it to tear ever so slightly my fault for taking it out of a case. It feels perfect for me you can tell it isn't the glass but it isn't a bad feel.
The dust collecting on the edges is seriously getting on my nerves. The ocd in me wants to rip the protector off and the other part of me can't stand the small faint marks I have on the screen.
Thank you thumbs up

Make sure u trim the corners a little first before applying or it'll lift at some point on the corners I'd ur not perfectly straight with ur application. I took about 1-2mm off mine by following the contours of the corners. It's perfect now.
Despite Spigen advertising to apply it with the case on and that its "case friendly"... Its not perfect. By trimming it slightly before application you'll avoid it lifting.

Agree I had mine since day one and it's perfect with every single case. And I test a few glass screen protectors without luck. As much as I like glass this oficial screen protector seems like a protector made by spigen because of his quality.
Anyone uses a bumper/case compatible with this screen protection ?

Good Screen Protectors?

It is simply amazing how trashy most of the oneplus 5 screen protectors are. Just ordered idlehands tempered screen protector (goo.gl/i9x6xS) and it didn't fit as it claimed to (even the preview pictures show this!). The blacklines on the protector are spaced enough and go cover up part of the display! Most others are apparently trashy and low rated.... Anyone have luck? Having removed my factory screen protector, my screen is now vulnerable!

The lines fully enter the onto display, which immediately makes my display area a few (about 4-5 from my own judgement) millimeters smaller. This is unacceptable imo.

You should see the first glass protector I got, it wasn't even close with how much screen was lost.
But from what I've heard, even the official OnePlus glass protector covers the screen on the edges, doesn't it?

Any non glass/film that you recommend?

The lines fully enter the onto display, which immediately makes my display area a few (about 4-5 from my own judgement) millimeters smaller. This is unacceptable imo.

Assuming your referring to the Orzly tgsp, I'm surprised with your comment that it covers part of display screen. In the review video from the post in this XDA section, the review shows the Orzly installed and the bootloader screen displayed. The bootloader's left side text gives zero room for a screen protector to overlap and the video, to my mind, shows zero overlap of the text. Are you positive you applied it as well as the reviewer?
I've order the Orzly and am waiting for it to arrive so hopefully I'll get the same results as the reviewer and a couple of the installers who had zero rainbow effect. If it doesn't work out I'll be going back to a film screen protector as I've used on my devices for many, many years. The Orzly is my first tempered glass protector.
I'd like to echo the calls above: any good experiences with any plastic SPs?
I was happy with the preapplied SP, but I was putting some stuff (nice beermats I was nicking from a pub!) in my pocket and I managed to lift it on the bottom right, and it got covered in pocket crud straightaway. So I replaced it with the official OP TGSP, which I'm sort of 80% happy with. I have two (v small) bits on the right edge where it won't stick to the screen, and the borders covering the display bother me, particularly when I can't see the scrollbar to show me where I am in a page. Fond memories of my Nexus 5 and its perfectly flat display, I only ever needed one TGSP and it fit like a dream!
So what I'm looking for is ideally a) a TGSP with no border, as close to edge-to-edge coverage as possible without unstuck bits at the edges, and full screen adhesive so no rainbow effect. Failing that, option b) a plastic SP with coverage as good as the original preapplied one. Any tips? Preferably ones available from Amazon UK.
Many thanks in advance.
For me plastic SP are way better in looks.
Also never took the original one from OP devices.
But what's the plastic SP offers to OP5?

Not completely sure about the Orzly, but the screen protector I got is very similiar. Do tell me if the black edges (lines) go onto the display or not. I have provided a link to the amazon store for it (do note I cannot post links due to this account being new)

The official? Wow, looks like I basically just got a cheaper version of it.

Yeah, I got it direct from OP as part of a bundle when I got my 5. I already knew it covered part of the display though, it says so clearly on the product page on their website. The one advantage it has over third party ones is that it's fully adhesive, so no rainbow/dot effects.

Here is a link to the Orzly tgsp on YouTube. Starting at the 4:27 mark he boots into the Bootlader screen and checks for screen protector display overlap.
I'll surely post my impressions once I get the Orzly tgsp myself but the video would probably give you all the info you need. Also here's the Orzly's amazon link and the XDA thread for this product. There is differing opinions but on the whole it seems like the only reasonable tempered glass option for the OP5.
I'm willing to try Nillkin's one ... I saw there is already a review of it in this forum, but I think i'm still gonna try it as it has no black border ( hate that ).
But still, from all reviews so far, Orzly SP looks like the best SP currently
I've always had great results with Skinomi, both their TechGlass and TechSkin. They currently don't offer the TechGlass for the OnePlus 5, but I just finished applying their MatteSkin protector and it installed perfectly . If they ever do release the TechGlass for the 5, I'll be picking one up.
Edit: I emailed Skinomi Customer Support about a TG protector and received this reply.
"Hello,
Thank you for your interest in our products.

The Nilkon one sucks.
I received it yesterday, 1 side does not stick whatever you try, glass does not cover the entire screen so you get an horrible rainbow effect since the screen protector edge ends still on the display..

seems to be the only one that is good so far... even with its flaws (oil/rainbow stain, fingertips on the glass, ...)
Just on balance: Phone manufacturers (lots of them) have gone with this 2.5D curvature and obviously it's a tough thing to make the perfect fitting cover out of glass, so none of them are going to be perfect. What's the obsession anyway? It's just a protective cover. I've had the Orzley for a few weeks and it works great. Since mostly people with bad experiences are posting in forums (go on and check out any thread and see how many threads are saying "this works fine!"), you can't tell much from this thread except to only stack up bad experiences. It sure doesn't attract dust or prints.
Here's my experience: I applied it using the "steamed up bathroom to settle dust" technique, it took maybe 45 seconds to apply, went on perfectly. It is designed not to overlap any case, and only to "meet" the visible part of the screen. Yes it's close, but not as bad as the OP one. I've never heard a tap from the glass protector. I've never seen a color or rainbow on it, nor any dust underneath. The edges are sticky after 2 weeks. If you think about it, no adhesive that is removable is ever going to be able to hold down a piece of cut tempered glass in a way that doesn't create at least a bubble somewhere, not that it's a big deal. I don't think I've thought about the screen protector once until I read this thread after I applied it.
For some of us, the Orzly works fine. I'm going to take a wild swing and guess that I'm not the only person that this SP works for. I've used it with two cases and it works perfectly with both of them. One is a bumper like case from OP https://oneplus.net/oneplus-5-silicone-protective-case, and the other was one I got for nothing with the OP (A folio case?) . I'm fairly sure the Orzly will work with any case because it doesn't extend over the edges.
If you are one to believe every bad review will be your experience then just stay with the factory applied plastic. It works fine but you'll likely have to clean it pretty often since the fingerprint attraction is high. Other than that, it's fine. It might not help you if you drop it as well.
Iqshield. Good coverage, smooth feeling. I like their products

Confused about which screen protector to use

So I just upgraded from a almost 3 year old nexus lg 5 to samsung s8.
Of course this means I also have to get a new screen protector. The one I used on my old phone was a very thin one, think it's 0,1mm and you barely notice it's there, and I mean this literally it's hard to tell it has a screen protector.
The screen protector on my samsung s8 is one I got from the store when I bought the s8. It's 0,4mm thick and has a white'ish tint to it, like, you can see it's there, it's not exactly low profile. On top of that the edges are made in such a way that dirt sort of gets in under it. Seriously a horrible screen protector.
So I wanted to know if anyone on here knows of a thin, film screen protector that's good?
The ones I've been looking at so far are the Samsungs official screen protectors.
Had also looked like spigan neo flex, but they seem to be getting bad reviews.

I live in Europe, so the selection might be a tad smaller, but my main concern is which ones are good. I was hoping for some word of mouth recommendations here from people who might have used some of the products they recommend.

If you have nothing good to say, please don't answer. It's a waste of space for good answers from others.

I am using Spigen's Neo Flex right now and it isn't so good. Yes, there are no marks of my fingers, but when i put it inside a spigen tough armour case the edges of the screen protector lifted from the screen. I had to trimm it and now it is collecting dust on the sides between the screen and the case.
Before this i had samsung's original screen protector and it work really good, and i think it would have been case friendly, but the problem is that it always had dirt and my finger's mark on the screen.
So i would recommend you pick another one from those two, or if you decide to buy the spigen's neo flex make sure it is the case friendly one and not the full coverage because that is the one i have and have big issues with the sides.
The ones i read that have some good reviews (you should definetly look a bit more in case you want it, just to make sure) are the "Invisible Defender by Ringke" and "Armorsuit MilitaryShield".
In case you still want the spigen's one i have to tell you that it has some strange marks in the screen, that make it look funny and lower a bit the quality of the screen. But if that doesn't bother, it isn't a really bad option if you aren't going to use a case and buy the full cover one.

I offered a suggestion. Some people don't think about that. They all have reviews including customer pictures. It wasn't negative in any way.
