Enabling fingerprint wakeup - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hello!
I'm using LineageOS 17.1 with my Poco F1. I wanted to ask, if anybody has a way of making possible to wake the phone up using the fingerprint sensor, but without fingerprints defined? This worked without problems with my Redmi Note 4, but not with Poco F1 anymore. I've search a lot for any hints, but without positive results. I want that to save the hardware switch. And I can't use fingerprints because of safety reasons.
PS. My phone is rooted.

Don't you have double tap to wake option in display settings?

Thanks for your reply!
Yes, I have. But I noticed increased battery drain with this option enabled. Currently I'm not sure if this is because of touchscreen battery usage (which have to be always on), accidental wake ups in my pocket or both. So yes, tap to wake option is a kind of solution, but not the perfect one.

Fingerprint Scanner and 053116 update. (Scanning and sleep)

Hello all,
First of all, let me say that I have not used the previous ROM versions, just the latest one (053116)
I'm currently using the Aerom V3
At first, the finger print scanner seems to work perfectly (once you find the knack on how to properly add your fingerprint).
Then I start fiddling with the OS (Root, LSpeed, and Rom Toolbox) to change the processor settings (I prefer full clock + Userspace, less UI jitter) the scanner gets worse and worse with every day.
After a few days, it barely recognises the fingers (unless you deliberately place it on the scanner, while looking at it) and even worse - the phone thinks I'm scanning the finger when I'm not even touching it and locks me out. Other times it fails to register my finger at all (no vibrate, screen off), then, when I press the lock button it suddenly unlocks.
The main question is - is it a deep sleep problem? Is it an oversensitive scanner? Is it my finger residue? (I try to clean the scanner once in a while)
I also tried installing Xposed, which means I have to set the SELinux to Permissive (removing the sleep 60/70/80 line).
Anyway, I can't seem to find where the problems come from. It seems, when the phone is bone stock, the fingerprint scanner works OK most of the time.
Any help is apreciated! Thanks
I've also made a short video to display the problem.
Sorry about the mumbly voice - big room, crappy mic.

I've this error too, mainly the part of "the phone thinks I'm scanning the finger when I'm not even touching it and locks me out."
This is so annoying that i disable the FP, and this was one of the motives that i bought this phone :/
As you, this start after I root my phone with TWRP 3.0.2.1, but I just add the multiple window in the build.prop, I'm thinking on remove the root and see if this error stops.

I've recently dirty-flashed Aerom on top. Didn't lose any settings, but the fingerprint scanner has improved greatly.
Also, Lux Lite was definitely interfering with the scanner and wake-scan. So I got rid of that.

I dirty-flash the Eragon v2.8, and the FP already increased, and it's rooted. So I think the problem is related with the stock ROM

I have Aerom V5 on my phone, I am not rooted and I have the same problem. For now I have disabled the FP sensor and my battery life increased by 5 hours! I will try Eragon Mod as I prefer my phone rooted and xposed installed. I hope the new ROM won't have this FP issue.
I had several ROMs tested and conclusion is: Activated FP sensor takes about 1,5-2,5% battery per h (normally 0,2-0,5% in a good ROM without FP) in newer ROMs (Kernel > 31.05). For older Kernels it is even worse.
Unfortunately this takes us to the point that using the FP sensor will drain about 20-25% battery over night and nearly 60% in 24h :/ (to be fair: this seems to be a common problem with other devices having an always-on FP too, or to compare: even a Samsung S7 Edge needs two steps to unlock via FP) as i am a fan of using the FP sensor this really is sth. i struggle with. Best way would be to have option to disable "always-on" feature for FP-sensor, so it can be used "old" way: hit button to wake and then unlock via FP. At least it would be also sth. that i would appreciate to have quick widget to enable / disable FP or have it disabled with airplane mode to avoid the battery drain overnight.
Let me know your thoughts...

Everything would be better than disabling the FP completely. The FP scanner was one of the reasons i purchased this phone in first place....
I hope that the newly released kernel can be modified by ROM developers so that the FP scanner is usable.

I totally agree to that and same for me... if this sensor is there, i would really like to use it. In special as it is really good working (besides battery drain). I now ordered another (cheap) always-on FP sensor phone from redmi to compare the behaviour. For me a phone that is completely not used should not have battery drain >0,5% per hour.
I am also looking forward if the kernel source release will help for that issue... but if its hardware related i see no chance at all

Please share your experiences as soon as compared the two phones. I'm curious about it.
So I have flashed my phone with Eragon V3 a few days ago and I have to say I am really happy
Fingerprint reader works very good now (no scans if no finger is on the sensor and very good scan-unlock ratio)
Batterylife is even better as in Aerom V5 (10 hours over night just 4% battery needed with wifi enabled)
with regular use I get one and a half days (music, web browsing, streaming, fp enabled)
Overall performance is very smooth
Xposed and root work very well

Double tap to wake

Does Mate 10 has the double tap to wake feature?
No and i haven't found a non-root solution for it either.
Wow that's such a shame... The mix and matching of features across these Huawei devices is becoming really frustrating. There's no reason why only the Chinese version of the Mate 9 had this feature.
I don't think you really need a double tap to wake. A simple touch of the fingerprint sensor wakes the phone quickly.
Exactly, that fingerprint scanner is ridiculously fast!

For the 10 Pro, that functionality is useful. It's just weird some of the choices made for an otherwise great phone. It's unfortunate.

Copyright issues with LG. But there are 3rd party apps for Samsung that put an icon on Always on display and you just double tap on that icon to wake. I guess its not different to Samsung having a home key always turned on even when screen off. So Huawei should as well implement something similar to have icon on the Always on display and click or hold or whatever is best gesture on that to turn on the screen.
End of the day its still a two step process in the least over the single step process of front fingerprint sensor. The small bezels means no way a front fingerprint could fit there and so there needs to be a long term solution. LG type reliable face unlock feature would help in many scenarios as well and its comparatively easier to partially lift and look at the phone from a desk then double tap and scribble the password.
There is also Huawei's strong security measures to overcome. My current Huawei does not allow using anything other than a pin password for unlock when you have the fingerprint activated. So thats four extra screen taps compared to the Pattern type password (which cannot be used when fingerprint activated).

What app that works with fingerprint without pin
Enviado desde mi ALP-L09 mediante Tapatalk
my ex oneplus 3t has this feature. how only lg has it?
Surely it's obvious this would be useful when the phone is laying on a desk/table (on its back) when the fingerprint sensor is not accessible? Double-tap to wake would be awesome on this device. Just got it, and it's my only (at this stage) gripe.
Same here
I hope some update fix this

Mate 10 Pro Double tap to wake

Hi Everyone,
Why Huawei didn't activate this function to their high end phone. THIS IS VERY USEFUL.
Anyone, manage to activate this on their rooted mate 10 pro?

Some weeks ago someone hinted at some code in the firmware which was supposed to handle double tap to wake. But there's no confirmation anywhere that Huawei will ever enable or further develop that code, just assumptions.
in Mate 8 forum there is a thread about enabling double tap to wake through some modifications on build prop.
That requires Root but I have no idea if that procedure could be implemented on mate 10

hello to all.... is possible that even in march update official, for huawei mate pro, is not present double tap to wake? other alternatives drain many battery... i hope a solution in last 4 monthes in this post
my solution
Hello,
As a former LG G2 user I've quickly begun to miss the double tap to wake/sleep | knockon/off function with my Huawei Mate 10 Pro. So after lots of investigations and app trials here's my solution which seems to perform pretty well in my opinion.
After trying many apps I've encountered the so called 'Always on AMOLED | Edge lighting'.
Here's my setup on the mate 10 pro (emui 8.0.0, android 8.0.0, build 8.0.0.157 C432) first:
1) Disable smart cover
2) Disable pick to wake
3) Disable pulse light (it won't work and we'll use app's notification handling which is great in my opinion)
4) Disable always on display information
5) After installing the app (VERY IMPORTANT!):
- Go to ignore battery optimisation in android's settings and add this app to the Allowed list
- Go to battery / launch - then Manage manually the amoled app:
* set to on - auto launch
* set to on - secondary launch
* set to on - run in background
To quickly find the upper settings use the search bar in the settings menu.
Then in the app (v. 2.1.7 tested):
1) I've made a fully black background instead of a clock - upto your flavor
2) Enable the POCKET MODE! This actually saves battery a lot since if proximity sensor is covered the screen is completely shut down. When you sleep/want to save battery place the phone with face down - sounds as no problem to me..
3) Brightness is set to 10 or so - again upto you, the less the better for the battery
For double tap to lock I use a widget placed all over the screens where there are no icons - sounds annoying but once settled it works flawlessly. Here's the widget I use - DTS widget Skynet Software.
To be honest I've found it from this forum.
Share your experience as I might have missed something.
P.S Somehow the power button won't lock the screen now but I don't use it at all anyway, so no problem to me..
P.S.2 I would have bought another LG phone if only they have kept the IR Blaster but that's another story..

Same, I only like double-tap to wake on my phones without fingerprint sensors. On my mate 10 and Xiaomis, whether front or back, I am prone to using the fingerprint sensors, and they bypass the lock screen too.
Of course, it's a nice feature to have that doesn't drain battery, all my phones, except Huawei, have dt2w.

Problem!!!! Proximity sensor is always on!!

The proximity sensor produces infrared light even when the screen is turned off. I have also tried turning off options like Pocket Mode, Adaptive Brightness and more. Notably, the light is not visible to the naked eyes. You need to use a camera in order to see the light glowing. Also, this is draining my battery quite faster. Please fix the issue ASAP as I am worried right now.
Same issue here
I also tested it using another mobile's camera. I was also able to reproduce the same problem. I think it is also leading to quick battery drain.
On what rom?
Miui stable with custom kernel has that problem. Pixel experience with same custom kernel does not.

How do you know that it is draining your battery?
Did you use BetterBatteryStats or what is the base for comparison?
I have 128Gb version (global) without this issue. Infra is on when display is on and is off when display is off. Bought in Czech Republic.
Correct me if i am wrong, but proximity sensor should be in on state when you are in a call, in order to turn the display off when the phone is close to ear, or when an app is requesting its measurements to proceed to a specified action. Have it in operating state when the screen is off, or when it is not called to do something is bad behaviour and it consumes energy no matter how much it is.
I'm on MIUI Pie Stable 10.1.3.0 with Stock Kernel.
Apart from call purpose, it is used in Pocket mode, Adaptive brightness(for its proper working), etc.
Edit:
I found a solution to this, Go to Settings>Battery>Scenes and turn off Non-interactive mode.
I turned off that option, I will further update if it increases or decreases my SOT.

Why not to calibrate the poximity sensor by setting, about phone and taping the kernel version, it will turned on engineering mode, choose poximity sensor and test it. Good luck.

Same problem on my poco in latest stable 10.1.3.0. So far I have not found a solution. The suggestions made above don't work.
Lets hope the next build will revert it.
Solved: auto brightness off
Switch off auto brightness and the IR will stop

Question [Question] are navigation bar actions gone (long press, double tap...) on OnePlus Nord 2?

Hi guys,
On my old OnePlus X and OnePlus 6T thanks to Oxygen OS I could set actions depending on the presses on the navigation bar (for example: long press the home button to lock the screen) in the settings but I can't seem to find this option on the settings app of my OnePlus Nord 2.
Is it hidden somewhere?
If it's not possible anymore out of the box, are there any apps, adb commands or accessibility hacks to lock the screen when I long press the home button?
I really miss this feature, I was able to lock the screen without touching the power button from anywhere (while being in an app, while texting, etc.).
Thanks!

No that's not it.
There was a setting on previous OnePlus phones that simply locked the screen (as pressing the power button would do) by long pressing the home button (the round one in the middle).
I can't seem to find this setting on my Nord 2 even though it is present on my OnePlus X, 6T and even on my friends 8T...
The Oxygen OS version running on the Nord 2 is completely different from all the other OnePlus phones, which sucks...
This is probably why:

I use on Nord 2 , Double Tap to Sleep and Double Tap to Wake . DTS from Microsoft Launcher and DTW from own system . Both are working flawless .

Yes I also do that but this isn't exactly what I want since you have to return to the homescreen and only then you can double tap to lock. I want to be able to lock my device while in an app and without touching the power button.
No those actions are sadly missing , the OS in the Nord2 is missing a lot of OxygenOS previous features because it's now merged with ColorOS and they decided to not include a lot of usefull features from both OS and that's very stupid IMO .

Yeah that's what I figured, that sucks
Just returned the phone because of that (and other reasons too for example slight black crush on low brightness and very bad battery drain especially on standby/when I sleep)...
I have a Nord CE and even though it lags sometimes in the UI it's overall way nicer (screen and battery life are fantastic). I just miss the alert slider on the CE and the vibration motor sucks but it's not a big deal to me.
I think the black crush in low brightness is a common issue with a lot of OLED panels , my previous oled phones had exactly the same behaviour .
As for the standby drain it must be an app you have, during the night I get 0.5~0.7% per hour on my nord 2 , and I easily get 2 days with a single charge and moderate usage.
But the fake OxygenOS with so many useful features missing is clearly very annoying for me, if the Android 12 update don't bring anything new I think i'll switch for a Pixel 6

Yeah the battery life would probably have settled after 2-3 more days of use but the fake feeling OS really put me off.
The black crush issue is indeed plaguing OLED displays it seems, I tried the 7T, 8, 8T and Nord 2 in the span of a year and sent every single one back after a few days because of it and stayed with my 6T which had a perfect screen.
I recently bought the Nord CE to give it at try and the screen is also perfect, so now that I've finally won the OLED lottery I'm keeping it despite it lagging sometimes compared to my 6T.
I feel like the black crush issues are worse on high refresh screens: the 8T screen (120Hz) had the worst black crush and all of the 90Hz had it too but less pronounced (except for my Nord CE). I rarely see black crush on older 60Hz devices (My 6T, my girlfriends Oppo Reno 2, older Samsung phones, etc.).
I miss this feature too. Could you please share it with me if you find a solution?

Depending on which Android version you are: when rooted (Magisk) activate LSPosed and then GravityBox (R). This has all the options you need! DO. NOT. PUT. YOUR. CLOCK. IN. THE. MIDDLE!!! This will bootloop your device! All other GravityBox features seem to work.
On A12 there is no official GravityBox but in LSPosed you'll find an unoffical version for Android S. Not a lot works but buttoncontrol does!

Any solution you know for A13? I have a OP9P with A11 but decided to update OS and I miss this feature a lot, both long pressing home button to open notification bar and double press home button to lock screen. Don‘t know why they took out these features, they were really useful. (Im rooted but I didnt found GB for A13 or any other magisk module solution yet)
Unfortunately this was all I have. My OP9 is running A12 with /e/OS
Does anybody know whether LineageOS 20 has this long press mapping feature? I'm getting really annoyed with this and the fingerprint brightness bug in OOS12 on my OP7T. About ready to jump ship.
