The EMUI has evolved for several years and is getting stronger and more user-friendly day-by-day. For heavy smartphone users like me, I know basically every small feature of the system, however, I found some of them particularly useful. Today I’m going to share with you some of the less-noticeable features which help me every day.
The most easy-to-use to-do list
How many of you keep the habit of listing to-dos? For procrastinators like myself, I found it difficult to get things done if I’m without a TDL (“to-do list”). And here is when the to-do of the EMUI Notes app got discovered by me!
I know some of you might wonder, there are tons of TDL apps on the market, why should I use a stock app? I’ll tell you why: easy to use and simple to maintain! You just go to your Notes app, or add a To-dos widget on your screen, and you’re good to go!
The To-dos is very straightforward yet useful enough: just add your to-do and set a timer or a location (or not), and mark the importance (if needed), and it’s done! It’s so fulfilling to cross items off, and feel the happiness of getting things done!
Multi-screen collaboration
When you talk about EMUI’s amazing features, the one feature that cannot be missed is Multi-screen collaboration.
When I’m at work, or when I have a low battery, I don’t want to raise my phone too constantly in case my thoughts are interrupted. Therefore I will enable the [Huawei Share] on my phone, and put it close to my Huawei laptop. And bang! My phone screen will appear on my laptop, and I don’t need to stare at the small phone screen anymore! I can look for files, reply to my messages, and even answer my calls on the PC!
A super cool and super-easy way to manage files
This one is not that different from the second feature. It’s actually included in the "Multi-screen collaboration" feature, but it’s so convenient and useful that I have shared with everyone who uses a Huawei phone and a Huawei laptop: File cooperation!
Just go to your phone storage and find any files which you want to view or edit. You can click it directly and start editing it on your laptop; or, you can just drag it out to a PC folder!
And, don’t worry about the screen-on time will drain out your battery. Once you start operating the phone on your laptop, your phone screen will automatically go dark, saving battery for you!
Ring-tone maker
I don’t know about you guys, but I am a person who simply hates the ringtones which come with the system. No offense to the ringtones and to those who use them, it’s just a habit of me.
If you happen to be one of my kind, you will be truly grateful for this feature: ring-tone maker!
Just download the music you like, and play it with the Huawei Music app, where you can find a small bell icon. Tap on the bell icon, and you are free to define your own ringtone!
I know some other music apps might also support this feature, but those apps sometimes cannot set 2 different ringtones for the 2 SIM cards I have. So in the end, it’s the Huawei Music app’s ring-tone maker that wins my heart!
These are the 4 small lesser-known tricks that I found truly useful for my daily life. If you haven’t tried them out, try it now! I'm also trying all the new features on my recently purchased Mate 40 Pro! If you want to know about EMUI tricks on the new flagship, leave a comment and let me know! See you next time!

[APP][FREE][4.0+] LT Profiles Free

Hi All,
I'd like to announce my app, LT Profiles Free, that was released on Google Play yesterday. It is a (yet another) app for setup up profiles that allow for automating of actions & functionality on your phone. I have compiled a basic FAQ below to give some background on the app. Hopefully some of you give it a try and like it. Feel free to ask any questions here or email me at the dev email link on Google Play.

Q&A with myself:
====
Q: LT Profiles, eh? So what does it do?
LT Profiles allows you to setup profiles to automate actions on your phone based on specific triggers. There are a options for turning settings on and off (Switches), volumes (Sliders), starting applications (Apps), sending multiple SMS (SMS), and for controlling other profiles (Profiles). The standard trigger options are available: On-Click, Time, Day, Calendar, Event, Location and certain combinations with a time constraint. The user can set a trigger to start (turn on) profiles and stop (flip state) profiles. It also includes a nice widget that will give you direct access to all your profiles in one view, rather than just a single shortcut on your home-screen. There are some nice settings, such as being notified by dictation when a profile starts or stops or setting default actions for profiles to use rather than flipping state back.
Q: Wow, yet another profile/automation/Tasker type app. Booooooooring!
A: Yes, there does seem to be a plethora of such apps on the market. However, I am also attempting to target a specific market, that being the regular commuter. Setting up a profile in LT Profiles gives you the ability to specify a trigger that starts and stops the selected actions. For example, Bluetooth would be turned on when the start trigger activates (you get in the car). However, on the stop trigger (you arrive at work), Bluetooth will be turned off automatically, all setup in the one profile.
Q: Yes, that seems pretty useful and well-thought out. But we can already do that with other apps, can't we?
A: Probably, but I'm not sure if they are as straight-forward and clear to use, but that is down to personal opinion. I think the majority of the functionality and the layout of the options should make it easy for new users to pick up and get going. I have some more commuter-specific ideas too, and they will arrive as I find some spare time to work on them.
Q: So if it is so good, why sell so cheap?
A: Note that I never set out to compete against mainstays such as Tasker; I am aiming for a completely different price-point: FREE to really, really cheap. I would take more from people downloading and using the app, than making money from it although the extra money would be nice! The level of finish of certain components of my app may not be to the same level as others, but for FREE I don't think you could ask for more.
Q: But ads? Why o' why!?
A: I actually don't mind the ads! I have integrated AdMob and AdBuddiz and both seem to blend well with the app. I am particularly impressed with AdBuddiz. Whether I make any money from them is to be seen, but hey I've got to at least try!
Q: So how is the user base looking?
A: Amazing! There is me and a few others who I don't know using it, but it is being used. Result! In the end, I love it and I use it everyday during my own commutes. This is probably the strongest thing going for the app. If there is something I think is missing, I will stick it in ASAP as I'll want to use it myself. Likewise, if I find any bugs, I'll fix them quick as I am routinely using the app for my own purposes.
Q: So finally, can you give us some background on the app development?
A: Essentially, this has been a hobby for me that I started working on middle of last year in my spare time (odd nights and weekends), which to be fair I don't have much of. It has been my first major dive into Android development and I've really enjoyed it. I've found working on an app such as LT Profiles that aims to interact with lots of Android lib components is a really good way to get an understanding of how the eco-system works and what it contains. I can now start to think of my bigger projects and plan them out. Whether I can find the time to execute them is another thing though.
Thanks for your time! :-0)

[APP] The most accurate fitness tracking app for Android Wear!

We are Ken and Houtan, two developers building a personal trainer AI for wearables. Over the past year we've built out tech that can automatically recognize a user's exercises, like bench presses and squats, if they are wearing an Android Wear smart watch. We are launching the beta program for our app, YouMove, and are inviting members of the XDA community to join. We would love your comments and feedback on what we've done and would be thrilled to hear your suggestions on what we should do next!
Apply for the Beta!
We recently added the ability for the app to learn new user exercises, which we are really excited about!
Other features we are currently testing:
- Automatic, passive recognition of weight training, calisthenics and cardio exercises
- Tracking of exercises, reps, sets, resting times, calorie counts, and intensity
- Detailed display of a user's workout in a timeline on watch and phone
We know the XDA community can provide some great feedback on what we've made so far. Thanks everyone!

This looks really cool! I've been tracking my workouts using Google Sheets for a while now, but if this works, I could totally see it replacing that. I'll let you know more of my thoughts after I sign up for the beta and try it out a bit, but I was just wondering if there is a way to see your progress by exercise type in some place on the app. I've always roughly guessed how I've improved over time at, say, bench press, and I know that I can do it now if I really wanted to, but it'd be really cool to have it readily available on the app.
Looks interesting, may take it for a spin!
Where is the link for download? Also:
1. Will you be having only dark color for the app?
2. Does it support Android Wear independently without the need of the phone?
2.1. Does it support the internal GPS of Sony Smartwatch, for instance?

Current it is a closed beta, so once you apply we will send an email with a link.
1. We are switching to a lighter color UI on the phone. Sticking to a dark color on watch to conserve battery life.
2. Yes, it works on the watch independently of the phone.
3. At this point it doesn't support GPS. Right now we are primarily focused on weight training and calisthenics. But when we do hit cardio, we'll make sure to use GPS on the watch.
I'm interested in trying this out. How's progress on the app?
Link not working
I would love to participate but the link is not working
I would like to apply for the beta but the link is not working.
I mostly go sporting/gym 3 times a week.
Can i get a beta because i was searching for this kinda app ?
Thanks !

Denna
We are happy to introduce you our to-do list application Denna. Denna is a fully featured and productive to-do list for Windows 10 devices.
We live in a time where speed is everything, and with all that hassle, you can easily forget to get things done. That is when a planning tool such as Denna can come in handy, preventing you from ever missing any important appointments or other tasks.
Customize your plans from the very beginning
As soon as you open the application tool you are prompted with the option of inserting your private credentials, which fortunately does not require any third-party authentification.
The profile itself comes in handy as all tasks, both present or future, are attributed to it. Through the profile, you can see your progress and whether you've managed to become more organized or not.
An application with a minimalist interface
Since the purpose of the application is to help you save time, it doesn't bother distracting you with dazzling colors and confusing menus or buttons.
The whole black theme is a nice addition as it is also easy on the eyes while still being visible even in low light conditions (as we all know, most of our planning takes place during the evening or at night)
Watch as you become more and more organized
Denna keeps records of how much of your plans you've managed to accomplish, in the form of pie charts.
You add the task, Denna reminds you to do it, if you complete it, you just check the appropriate bracket. If you've missed out on a task, the application will remember and add it to your history.
This is an excellent feedback system as it subconsciously pushes you to continuously improve yourself and make you more organized.
More so, plans that have been postponed are stored in a separate area where they will remain visible so that they will never be lost to oblivion.
A simple but effective time management app
Given how time is a precious commodity which can never be recovered, taking care of how we spend it is the best thing we can do. Denna proves itself to be a simple yet efficient application that will always keep track of what you do, and reminds you of the things you haven't done yet.
Guess what? Denna is an opensource FREEWARE!

Because of the sync feature.
This app will sync your to-dos over your devices. You can add something on your PC and get it on your mobile in the fastest way.
I would try it if sign/synch isn't obligatory, but feature.

Breaking Barriers of Online Shopping with HUAWEI MeeTime Calling

"See this coat? ""Which one?
"But look at those negative reviews." "Let me see... Where is it?"
"Wait, don't buy it now! Get the coupon first!" "I can't see it. Where do I get it?"
"The red one's better." "Which red one? Red 2901? Red 2902? Rose 5411? Or..."
Sound familiar? This is what happens every time my girlfriend asks me to help her choose clothes online. I get nervous because I just can't keep up with her! Her eyes hit 200 rpm as she collects every last bit of information about each dress, and her keyword capture rate is probably about 93.6%: she's become a shopping bot.
As a mere mortal, there's no way I'm going to be able to keep up with her. She even has a lot of other crazy ideas about how to optimize our shopping experience:
She wants to voice chat because I type too slowly.
She doesn't want to hold her phone to her ear the whole time.
She wants to be able to share her phone screen in real-time.
She wants to be able to doodle and make annotations on the screen, so I don't overlook the important stuff…

Part of me wants to say “forget it, you can go shopping, but leave me out of it…”
But… part of me is curious, too. What if there was some kind of technology which could do all of this? I could finally keep up with her!
So I did some research, and… Yes, it is possible! As long as you're both using Huawei phones.
In some shopping apps on a Huawei phone, you'll see a small button on the product page.
With this button, you can activate a HUAWEI MeeTime call. Touch it, and a list appears showing all the contacts you can connect with.
Select a contact (for example, your girlfriend), and a message will appear, asking if you want to share your screen. The other party will also see a similar message on their phone.
Once you're connected, a floating status bar will appear on the screen. Your contact will be able to see your screen, or you can ask them to share their screen.
Now, if you're like me and you always get confused about the colors and versions your girlfriend is talking about, you can stop worrying! Just touch the brush button on the status bar, and the screen magically transforms into a drawing board, so you can leave annotations and doodles, and no-one will miss any vital information!
This feature is really cool, and can help solve a lot of problems when you're shopping online – it's not just for shopping! So if you have a Huawei phone, it's worth giving it a go!
Also, as this is a system-level feature, it's smoother than most third-party apps with similar functions. And it's more secure and reliable too!
Huawei calls this capability HUAWEI CaaS Kit. It realizes system-level audio and video calling among Huawei phones, apps, and partner devices. So, if you're thinking "I wish this function could be used in situations other than shopping", it definitely can! CaaS Kit Lite is now open to developers, so any app which have audio and video calls can integrate CaaS Kit Lite and make system-level calls. If you're interested, you can find more on the Huawei Developer website:
https://developer.huawei.com/consumer/en/caas-kit
Okay, that's all I have time for. My girlfriend wants to share screens again…

Discover a More Convenient Way to Live and Work with EMUI 11

With the release of EMUI 11, Multi-screen Collaboration has received a comprehensive upgrade, with many fascinating new features. Of these, the most exciting is perhaps the ability to open multiple windows on a single computer screen. This new future has been made possible by a further upgrade to the distributed capability, which is a feature of HUAWEI Mate 40 series devices running EMUI 11. It breaks down hardware boundaries between individual physical devices and creates new device forms using software. By imbuing technology with intelligence in this way, it provides a convenient smart life experience for users.

Multi-screen Collaboration now enables you to open up to three windows on the computer at the same time. Imagine that you're taking an online course. With Multi-Screen Collaboration, you can open three windows at the same time: one to view the course itself, one to make notes on Notepad, and one to chat to your classmates. It's no wonder that this feature has remained consistently popular since it was first released!
A super assistant for work
Multi-screen Collaboration really comes into its own when it's time to get some work done. You no longer need to keep switching between separate apps to perform different tasks. Instead, you can open three windows at the same time, and drag and drop files between them. Three windows means triple the efficiency!
Shopping has never been easier
In the past, shopping online meant endlessly switching between different apps to compare prices and reviews. It was exhausting to be confronted with all this information. Now though, thanks to Multi-screen Collaboration, you can now open several shopping apps on the computer at the same time, and compare information easily.
A more flexible video experience
If you get a call while you're watching a video, you generally need to exit the video, open WhatsApp, and reply to the message. This can be really annoying when you're in the middle of a video. Now, with Multi-screen Collaboration, you can watch videos and chat to your friends at the same time.
Try Multi-screen Collaboration now, and discover a smarter way to live and work.
