Linage OS for OnePlus N10 - OnePlus Nord N10 5G Questions & Answers

Hello, as we already learned, kernel sources have been released live, is there any information of when LinageOS will support the model?
LinageOS for OnePlus Nord has been released, but not sure if it works for N10 as well.

Nowhere, unfortunately. I was thinking of using the TWRP for OnePlus Nord, but I am not sure how to revert back to stock recovery image in case it does not work. Booting the TWRP image without flashing it did not work. Phone got stuck in Fastboot with the OnePlus logo.

Please move this thread to Q&A!
You should not flash TWRP from another device! If booting it doesn't work - it doesn't work! Nord has another chipset.
I looked into the Nord TWRP and built it for N10 but it didn't work and now i don't have my Workstation available. Anyways, TWRP for Nord has many bugs and it's recommended against even for Nord ROMs.
Don't expect a fully working version anytime soon.
About LineageOS: same procedure, i tried building it but i'm not very experienced and didn't have much time so nothing to release
To reset to stock see the Guides..

As has already been said:
TWRP must already be fully worn for the North N10 5G and functional before seeking to build new customs ROMs (whatever their basis: AOKP, Lineage, ResurectionRemix, OmniROM, etc).
I had personally already built Resurection Remix for my old device which was an LG, but I never did it for a kernel or even a custom recovery.
I think we'll have to wait for more experienced developers to compile a fully functional custom recovery before tackling custom ROMs.

Yeah, looks like we have to wait.
Flashed TWRP, did not work. Then, flashed LinageOS recovery image - did not work as well.
So I reverted back to stock recovery.
My main aim is to use a phone without Google bloat and its services.
As far as I know Linage OS is what I need.
So, fingers crossed that it will be developed for N10 soon.

Don't flash any recovery at all - we don't have a recovery partition on A/B devices. Therefore you either do a fastboot boot or you have to reflash every time the boot partition with the kernel image.
My current setup to mimimalize google is to disable all gapps except for play services and just don't login with your account. Then use F-Droid / Aurora Store.
To replace GMSCore (play services) MicroG is needed and a ROM with signature spoofing support

This is exactly what I did - disabled all gapps and use alternative app stores such as Aurora, Aptoide and APKPure.
I tried disabling the play services (seems to be the last google thing on my phone), but it made me crazy. Andoid kept throwing all those notifications that nothing will work properly if play services are not enabled, which is not true at all. I cannot mute those notifications, so I eventually reenabled play services.
Regarding MicroG and a ROM with signature spoofing support, I will have to read about it, as this is not familiar to me.
I would appreciate it if you share some info/guide on this. Thanks in advance.

Here is a useful read: https://github.com/microg/GmsCore/wiki
Many apps depend on the google messaging service, therefore it's difficult to get rid of play services completely without removing other apps, too. Even privacy-friendly apps like Signal depend on it.

Actually, while gathering information on MicroG, I decided to try this guide: https://www.droidwin.com/lineageos-17-1-oneplus-nord/ and flash OnePlus Nord LinageOS image. It worked and from first glance, it works pretty well.
The only issue is with the status bar. There is a black empty space in the top middle part of the screen, possibly because it is designed for Nord model.
So, coming back to initial statement, we will have to wait for some with experience to adjust the Linage OS image for N10.
Linage OS is the reason to migrate from Huawei to OnePlus and I am eager to use it.

Does anyone know how to edit/remove the blank space in the top middle part of the screen?

In addition, notification icons and time on the top left side could be moved a little bit to the right, as currently they appear at the front camera position:
The last thing I noticed is that lock screen is showing the fingerprint icon, as the image has been adjusted for Nord, which has the fingerprint built in the screen.
Other than that, system has been performing really well. I really like the low battery usage. If someone can help with fixing the above mentioned issues, I believe we can say that we have a working LinageOS image for N10.

Hi, there is a thread for this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-unofficial-lineageos-17-1-oneplus-nord-avicii.4185373/
In addition, I believe this is what you need: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mauronofrio-twrp/files/Avicii/
If you succeed with building a working twrp image for n10, that would be massive!

There are two basic things wrong:
- The first link you sent me is for an installation image for another OnePlus device. So it won't work on the North N10 5G. Moreover, the developer of the ROM in question is a priori part of a team of regular developers, and no way to check if they based themselves on the official sources to adapt, or if they started from 0.
- Your second link goes back to the sourceforge site, to download two twrp images of your choice for an unknown device.
In short, nothing goes.
As we are still at the beginning of the development for the Nord N10 5G, we would need at least developers mastering languages like C or C++ for example, which for the moment is not the case.
And as I'm not sure that Github provides a way to see the forks differences from the initial repository (https://github.com/OnePlusOSS/android_kernel_oneplus_sm6350), there is no way to know if anyone has already started building TWRP for this device.
Anyway, once a first dev has built TWRP, custom ROMs will follow.

I think we misunderstood each other.
I started the thread saying that I will try flashing TWRP image and Linage OS , which are ported for Nord model.
Both of the links are related to Nord images, they are not just random ones, as I am aware that currently there is no image ported for N10 model.
Anyways, as you said, we will have to wait.

Lineage will probably come out a few weeks after the device is released internationally. At the moment it's just out for Europe. The eta for india for example is the 12th Feb 21 (source: https://www.91mobiles.com/oneplus-nord-n10-price-in-india)

VERY IMPORTANT
-Before installing ROM for first time Wipe Data Partition with Stock Recovery.
-If you Update the ROM skip the wipe section in Instructions.
Bugs:
Pie:
- Hotspot broken
- Huawei Camera not Ported yet
Requirement for installing
EMUI 8 has to be flashed anytime before
Unlocked Bootloader
Stock Kernel,Recovery and Ramdisk has to be flashed
Instructions
1. Download ROM
2. Extract the system.img from .xz rom file.
3. Flash the system.img via fastboot (fastboot flash system pathTo/system.img)
4. Flash stock ramdisk.img and kernel.img (Extracted from EMUI ) if you haven't done before
5. Wipe Data in Stock Recovery
6. Reboot (first boot may crash simply reboot the device again)
(Optional)
After first boot you can use this instructions to flash Magsik on your device.
Magisk Guide
Additional notes
- Pie encryption stuff is incompatible with Oreo recoveries, so use recovery with no decryption for now
- If it reboots on the first boot, don't be surprised, it's ok.
- If it's stuck on a bootanimation - make sure that you did wipes properly (properly - means a data wipe in stock recovery)
- It's a pretty early build, so don't expect it to be rock stable. It's good for daily driver as long as you don't mind the minor issues it has now.
- GAPPS are included in every build

Thanks to this Gsi Team ....????
This is sweet music to my eyes I've flashed many different GSI's to the Huawei MediaPad M5 and none of them looked quite right (text fuzzy, not sharp), or something didn't work properly. Going to flash this one later tonight.
Thanks for the work on this, will post the results.
P20 lite supported, but not p20 Pro? Is there a specific reason? I read that other P gsi work on p20 lite, but on my Pro it doesn't even start booting.

Thanks for developing for Kirin devices!
Thank you so much for this!
In the OP, you said that stock recovery, kernel, and ramdisk need to be flashed. If I'm coming from phh's Treble (8.1), do I need to flash the kernel and ramdisk again? I never installed TWRP, Magisk, or anything like that (I basically only touched system).
I've got the Huawei MediaPad M5 8.4" WiFi version, on first boot, the following services keep stopping: Bluetooth, Google, Google Play Services. Rebooted several times to no avail. Skipping everything get's me to the "Just a Sec" screen with the spinner.
This was a full factory image start, followed by the installation instructions. Has anyone else run into this with any device?

If you're absolutely sure you never touched the other partitions, then sure, go ahead and flash the rom only. Dont see why you wouldnt want to do it, it literally takes like 10 seconds to flash both of the files, including typing the commands.

I flashed it successfully on my Honor 7X. For the first boot it reboot automatically, but after that it was fine and I could complete the setup normally.
Everything seems to be working well so far (even MTP). The only bug I found is that the swipe down gesture on the fingerprint sensor does not bring down the notification shade. The rest of the fingerprint gestures work though (swiping for recents, tap to go back, hold to go home).

LineageOS is a free and open-source operating system for smartphones and tablet computers, based on the Android mobile platform.
This is an unofficial build of LineageOS for the Pixel 3 (blueline). I always liked Lineage (and its predecessor CyanogenMOD) as well as the Google line of phones. Unfortunately having a Google Pixel phone isn't certainty for a lot of custom ROMS anymore, so that's why I decided to compile my own version. It's been quite challeging, but I think I finally have a build that is good enough to share.
About
This ROM is built straight from the LineageOS sources found on https://github.com/lineageos. There are only 3 changes in order to get this build:
The device tree is just a single folder with references to the crosshatch (Pixel 3XL) tree that is already there in the sources
The binaries for this ROM come from The Muppets
The ROM is compiled with the nano version from Open Gapps, including the Pixel specific bits for unlimited photo upload for instance
I am not a developer, I only build this ROM and it reflects the the current status. If there are any things missing or not working I suggest to contact the LineageOS team, they are the real geniuses here and deserve all the credits. I will try to keep this ROM updated on a regular basis.
First Installation
Installing the ROM can be a little hard, especially the first install. Upgrades will be relatively easy though. This first setup is only needed when coming from a different ROM then this. I can't support you if you did't follow this first installation. Be warned it will wipe your user data in the process, so make sure you make a backup if needed.
Place the ROM and optionally the TWRP zip, a kernel and root on the phone and reboot to recovery by using the command line (fastboot boot twrp.img) or hold the VOL DOWN key while rebooting the phone.
In order to make the right startbase for the ROM you have to install the latest stock Pixel 3 image from Google found here to BOTH slots. You can use the script in the download folder. Instructions how to use it can be found in the script itself.
Wipe 'data' and 'Dalvik / Art Cache' from TWRP - Wipe - Advanced Wipe or use the slider in TWRP for a factory reset. Optionally you should also delete the Android folder on your internal storage through the TWRP File Manager
Flash the ROM and optionally the TWRP zip, kernel and root and reboot the phone
Upgrades to new version
After the hard initial work to get the ROM installed it's going to be easy for upgrades to new versions.
Download the new ROM on the phone and reboot or fastboot flash to the TWRP recovery
Flash the new ROM and optionally TWRP. If you want to flash another kernel or a root solution you will have to reboot you phone, so it switches slots and let it boot normally. Then go back to recovery and flash in this order: TWRP - kernel - Magisk and reboot
After a monthly update from Google and only when LineageOS also adapted to the latest monthly sources (I will tell you this) you will have to do an extra step:
Download the latest Lineage OS ROM and place it on the internal storage
Download the latest image from the Google Factory Images site, extract the bootloader, radio and vendor images and flash them in the bootloader to BOTH slots. Alternatively (and actually my prefered method) you can use the script provided in the download folder. Instructions are inside the script
From here go to TWRP recovery and flash the previously downloaded new ROM, optionally followed by TWRP.
Optionally, after a reboot you can flash Magisk and/or another kernel.
Not working
Active Edge
Now playing (on the lockscreen, it works while the screen is on, just no history))
Call recording (not enabled in sources for our device)
Accent colours Default, Forest and Cocoa display a blue colour icon theme instead of its own
Call Screen (couldn't test it myself)
The "markup" tool to edit screenshots doesn't work
Downloads
Now finally for the good part, the downloads. In this folder you will always find the latest ROM:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1lx8dlS4ZRVVQYeQS0I7Y_6yJ5SFMg7uR

@jorgen2009 I flashed the rom and it's working great for the most part. The only problem I've noticed is that there is no audio in phone calls. I cannot hear the other person and they cannot hear me either. This is happening regardless of whether VoLTE is enabled. Any ideas? Thanks again for your work on this.
That was happening with other February custom roms. just flashing Google's radio image in fastboot from the February Google's factory image should do the trick.
@beanaman Thanks, this fixed it for me! Flashing just the radio image wasn't enough, though. I also had to flash the vendor image.

Did you just enabled hidesu for Google pay or any special steps you performed ?
Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
Just posted an update of the ROM, built from today's sources. Together with this release I made a Lineage OS ROM for the Pixel 3XL as well. As I don't have this phone myself I'm not sure if it's working. If anyone can confirm this I will make in announcement in the Pixel 3XL forum as well, hopefully stimulating development for our devices.

I'm seeing that in the OP, the instructions don't involve wiping System after making sure you start from Google's factory image as a base. Any reason I shouldn't wipe System? I did, and everything seems to be working okay. Do I lose any features or anything?

System will be completely overwritten by the ROM, so no need to wipe it first. Whether you wipe it or not has no effect on the features whatsoever

Any chance thay you may add proper support so custom kernels can be used together with LineageOS?
Using a kernel like Proton together with LOS is making the phone just randomly freeze once it have fully booted non stop.

So keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to your first users' feedback posts. :good:
Everything is working great, except for the auto brightness , it seems to be too aggressive and constantly keeps changing brightness of screen

Which app is working for FM Radio on this ROM?
So far working good for me!
I haven't done much testing, but the only small bug I noticed is if I'm watching a video on YouTube, press full screen, and then try to rotate the phone to view in landscape fullscreen, it exits fullscreen mode.
Shout out for the good work with this rom!
My experience (no pun intended) so far is surprisingly good. I was expecting at least some bugs that i've always came across with even PE stable builds in my past devices (unreliable proximity sensor during phone calls and BT pairing with iDrive 6 with the MiA1, RN5, MiA2 and RN7), but no. Everything seems to work just fine for my surprise. Thanks a lot!
If i install this on my poco x3 nfc will and if pixel experiance will get an update will i also get the update?

No, at least not for now.
When goes official to your device?
Does google pay work without Magisk? It passes safety nets? I don't need root.
Hello, actually on latest miui rom, followed the steps as told on the given link, on first post, but it's buggy as hell on the setup steps at first launch, dunno if it's only me, but here what I did:
- installed latest orange fox recovery (alpha 6)
- booted on it
- flashed latest miui eu through recovery (12.0.3.0.QJGEUXM)
- reboot to recovery again
- flashed pixel experience rom
- factory format (The format data step is not so clear, I tried only the data partition as well, with or without flashing dalvik)
- reboot to system
When I'm at the system step, the "search for updates" usually makes the phone reboot, it's taking a loooooong time to pass this setup steps.
I finally managed to pass the setup steps, but it took me more than a hour to pass this.
I'm pretty sure it's a pebkac, not the rom at fault or else, so if you have any idea on what was my mistake, I'm taking any advice here
PS: Also tried with twrp, tried to flash mieu eu rom from recovery, and from fastboot, etc...
EDIT: Also, thanks for reading my question and for the work here, I love pixel experience rom, would love to have it on this phone

Thanks for the reply Already tried too :/
EDIT:
Found out the issue, it seems the eu vendors were the culprit, when I flash the eu vendors it's buggy as hell, with the global ones it's ok :/

Pixel Experience 12.0 v400.a released!
Changelog:
Initial build
Sync with phh's AOSP 12.0 v400.a
Notes:
Don't ask for PE+ builds as they will come later in time. In the past, PE team took nearly four months to release the first builds of PE+ after releasing regular PE builds. Based on PE's team predictions, it should arrive in a month or so!
Use the slim variant if you have a small system partition (without Drive, Gmail, Maps, Photos, Recorder, Wallpapers and Google app)
Finally, take in consideration phh's notes that should also apply here:
This is a pre-release. This is not considered daily-drivable, though your mileage may vary.
As you'll notice, there is no A-only variant at the moment. It is still undecided whether A-only variants will later appear.
If you want unshared_blocks/read-write system, use vndklite variants. Non-vndklite devices are capable of running vndklite variants.

stuck at android logo on Pixel XL. Any suggestions?
Hello I'm facing major issue in this GSI. Can't pull status bar quick toggles, developer options disabled showing "developer options not available for this user", gesture navigation buttons not working, recent apps always showing empty. Needed to know if this is known issue. I guess this happening because after fresh installation this didn't show setup wizard similar issue to this article.
it works fine for me, only a few minor graphical glitches. hope the next version will be better
I have tested in my xperia lena 10 III , stability is same as stock rom here + I have certified play stores
good job
This GSI is running fine on my a71 but when I try to get into recovery, it just gets stuck on the logo screen and reboots and boots into twrp again but still stuck on the logo screen. This happens until I hard reset device. After I hard reset I boot fine into the gsi
Is this rom has material you monet themeing
This is outstanding ... Went from stock Android 10 somewhere last week, to your Pixel+ GSI to now a Pixel 12 GSI on my Galaxy Note 9 (Exynos) with what i can see so far is 0 issues (auto brightness excepted ( i need to help fix that with an overlay i suspect )). Great work and many thanks to you and @phhusson for keeping this old fella up to date !! Android has been fun again the past week
Im not seeing the GPU glitches either mentioned on phh's github for Samsung unless the workaround is already applied..
Thanks !!!!

I have not applied any workaround. I just don't see any glitches. I also guess monet theming is in place as its a part of A12.. you can change stuff relating colors in the settings, not paid much attention to that though.

Yeah can someone help with auto brightness on Samsung devices ? Also root a S10 is kind of a pain, even going in recovery take few tries with buttons combinations. Boring stuff
Works well on moto g 5g plus!
Thank you for your work
I think the old version of TWRP published on XDA for nairo does't work on android 12 anymore because it bootloops.
EDIT: Also the aux isn't working, I've tried using the patches in settings for huawei devices and also connecting a usb-c dongle to aux but it's not working either.
I hope there will be a patch together with huawei for motorola phones but i guess they have less development going on.
There might be both overlays for nairo and audio drivers(i think) on the omnirom project.
EDIT2: SOLVED both problems, i created a guide to fix both here
I`m new to GSI, more like used to old school ROM installing and crap. I wonder if after installing this ROM on my treble-compatible device (which has worked perfectly fine for other people on YouTube):
1. Any new updates from this alpha stage will be rolled out automatically over the air or do I have to update manually reflashing, etc? How would that happen?
2. Google`s security updates, like the one released today will be installed over this build or that is part of another process?
Thank you!

1. No GSIs have user-facing OTA yet. Flash manually all the time.
2. As part of flashing/updating the GSI itself.
Hello, i just flashed this gsi (arm64 ab).
But, when booted, it just blank. But it have sounds using power button (Like sound while locking and opening). And i can't mount system in recovery. Using a10 vendor
Is this vendor issue?
where do i grab the pixel experience gsi for flashing to moto g7 power .

Great job!
Once Android 12 Pixel Experience is released is there any chance of the ROM being updated to Android 12?
I will give this a try soon (a few days or maybe a week) and report back if stuff doesn't work.
Edit: Bad wording that made me sound mean.
Edit 2: I will try this ROM starting on Wednesday 12th January 2022, I need to get my driving test and revision over and done with first.

feel free to give some feedback, and report some stuff
does this work for Xeria 1?
can u make one for Xperia 1 j9110 that would be of great help.
Many people like me are waiting for ROM for Xperia 11...
Does google camera work in this rom and can it be updated?
This ROM looks really good and it's nice to see that we have a custom ROM with current patches and passing SafetyNet test! Unfortunately, I really want to have as less Google software on my phone as possible, so Pixel Experience is not my way to go.
Could you also create a different style of Custom ROM like LineageOS, as the existing X5 ROMs did not get any update and their creator is rarely online? That would be an absolute dream, an actively maintained LineageOS with passing SafetyNet test.

Good ROM ! I 've flashed on my device and it works .(Xperia 5 Dual SIM J9210).
But I found some issues.
1.figerprint sometimes don't work until reboot.
2.NO VoLTE in CMCC.

You mean "Bootloader unlock allowed"? That means that it is possible to unlock the bootloader of your device but you still need to unlock. Maybe you want to provide a screenshot?
My device unlocked device is currently running LineageOS, so I unfortunately can't check what is written there as soon as the bootloader is unlocked.
But usually, if you don't unlock your bootloader, it is still locked. You also get a warning every time you start your device that it cannot be checked for corruption. If you don't see that message, you device is locked.

Xperia 5 J8210
Hi there, so as a newbie, I've got myself into a right mess!
I Wanted to enable Ethernet over USB but Android 9 that came with the phone doesn't support. I couldn't immediately see any standard custom roms so I compiled AOSP from scratch following the instructions on developer.sony.com. Flashed the resulting images across and it resulted in the phone not booting. I've managed to install TWRP but I'm unable to install any custom ROMs including PixelOS referenced in this thread. When I go to install in TWRP it always immediately fails with "Error installing zip file '....unofficial.zip'. When I put TWRP into ADB mode and use adb sideload the transfer fails immediately.
This is the same for any zip file I care to install. Any suggestions, I've a feeling something underlying is wrong, not least the opening statement in this thread which says "Make sure you come from Official Android 11.0 from Sony".
Oh boy... help would be most appreciated.
Many thanks.
