Now supported with AR Core - Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Guides, News, & Discussion

I updated months ago to its latest android version and yesterday I did a factory reset. Then I decided to install Special Delivery which is an AR game and was NOT compatible before and I was shocked that it asked for a new update, then a welcome screen, then the tutorial and it REALLY works. I havent tested it out with another AR app, I just thought maybe no one havent noticed this yet or perhaps I'm the only one left behind of the news. Also can you recommend an AR app or game?
I guess I wont be rooting my phone now

[Q] Please don't shout i am already fragile ;)

First off, Hi, yes i am a N00B... i hear your groans already :good:
So i finally took the plunge to move to android after many years on Blackberry and have to say for the most part i am glad i did. I am currently running a Samsung Galaxy SIII;
Model GT-I9300
Android 4.1.2
Baseband Version I9300DXELK1
Kernel 3.0.31-836582
[email protected] #1
Build Number
Android revolution HD21.1 by mike1986
I am on the Isle of Man Network (Cable & Wireless Guernsey / Sure Mobile (Jersey) (according to Play))
Whilst i am a techie and have worked in IT for over 10 years i am still finding my way with Android so please bare with me! (I wouldn't for a second fathom that i know enough about development so thought i'd come talk to you guys.. as. well. you develop the stuff i'm having issues with!)
My mate rooted and uploaded a customer ROM for me when i got it and pretty much left me to my own devices, whilst i have only had a play round for a few weeks and downloaded some apps there is a few things that are annoying me (and yes i have searched around these forums, googled the hell outta it and unfortunately the things i have tried hasn't worked for me. So...
the crux of the matter is, there are 2 apps i am trying to get working on my phone but unfortunately there are a number of issues.
Sky Go: initially not showing up in the play store (rectified by the use of PhoneControl and Market Enabler)
When attempting to download i get "This item is not available in your country"
Whilst googling i noticed i was not the only one experiencing this issue and with some help from other frustrated users attempted to spoof the phone into thinking its on a different network codes via MarketEnabler. No dice. (although i can now at least see the 2 apps im trying to d/l. I know it works locally as i use it on my ipad (sorry to swear!)
HSBC Fast Balance: Same issues as above, research unfruitful. I had this app previously on my blackberry (shocker i know) so i know it is available in my region.
I have tried multiple things to try and fool the device into thinking it is somewhere else, i have tried changing my default country in multiple areas thinking this is the problem. No dice
So my guess is that the ROM my mate downloaded was developed in a different country and as such hard coded somewhere into the version, but im just guessing.
Any help/advice you may be able to offer would be most appreciated

Same with Sky Go
There's nothing wrong with the custom ROM your friend installed, but you might be better off going back to the latest stock ROM (XXEMB) for the UK - if you want the phone to work exactly as Samsung intended it to. Android is a wonderfully open ended OS but can be a bit too open ended sometimes.
You can download stock ROMS from links in the general forum and follow (closely) the instructions to flash it via Odin on your PC - or get your friend to put back how he found it.

How to (try to) force an update AT LEAST to 4.4W.2?

Bought yesterday an LG G Watch (on sale at € 108 shipped, on the Italian Play Store, can't really say no at that price).
I had previously had this same smartwatch for a week but returned it because Android Wear was still too "immature"... At the time it was at the 4.4W.1 release. Lots of improvements and bug fixes came with the 4.4W.2 and still lots more are coming with the "Lollipop" release just going out now and which solves more "practical" issues I had with how Android Wear worked (e.g. you can now finally turn off the tilt motion to wake it up).
The problem I am now having is that the G Watch was updated to the 4.4W.1 version as soon as I paired it to my Note 3 and after a day and no matter what I tried, I am still on 4.4W.1!
Now, I can wait a week or 2 for the 5.0.1 version but I would like to get at least to the 4.4W.2 version in the meantime, since the 4.4W.1 has the problems (the bugs and the lack of features) which made me return the G Watch the first time...
After trying to restore the G watch and pair it again with the smartphone (a tedious process since you have to re-set everything up...) I am still unable to update and I now also have problems with Google Keep on the watch (it says unable to connect) and with another app (an internet browser). Never mind for the browser, but Keep is one of the killer applications for a smartwatch, for me.
BTW, the Android Wear companion app is the 1.0.5 version (got updated yesterday few hours after downloading it and setting up the watch the first time, and before trying to reset everything up).
So, any ideas about what to try..?
TIA
I'm in the same situation.
I just received it today and it's on 4.4W.
It downloaded an update (don't know which one), but when it propose me to update I click on the checkmark and it remain on the question if I want to update and nothing is happening.
My actual Android Wear app is 1.0.4.1611133
Do I need to update to 1.0.5?
Will it try to upgrade from 4.4W directly to 5.0.1 (I don't think so...)
What can I do?
Thanks
Woody
PS: It started again to download and now let me click on the checkmark to update.
Now I'm on 4.4W1.
In Settings I click on Software update and started again to download something (it will take a lot of time looking to the graphics).
It will be 4.4W2 or 5.01 ???

After the umpteenth reset (of both the G Watch and the Android Wear app) and re-pairing, I have finally managed to trigger an update.. Don't know which one yet since it's still donwloading.
Anyway, AFAIK to be able to get the 5.0.1 update you have to have the updated Android Wear app first but don't worry, it will update shortly via the Play Store as it did for me after a few hours. The problems were always about the G Watch only.
Ok thanks. What I am experiencing is frequently disconnection between Android Wear and the smartwatch. Even one every two minutes. What could be the reason?

It could really be many things (also on the phone side)... Try resettting the whatch maybe.. Fow what it's worth, I was not experiencing it and bear also in mind that Wear updates have always improved upon the BT connection so updating may very well fix your issues.
ANYWAY, DOWNLOAD IS FINISHED AND IT'S 5.0.1, so problem solved for me!
I'm glad for you, so the update was from 4.4w1 to 5.0.1?
With Android wear already at 1.0.5 or previous version?

Like I said, the Android Wear app got the 1.0.5 update a few hours after installing it on my Note 3 and AFAIK you must have the 1.0.5 version to get the 5.0.1 update on the watch (you should still be able to receive the 4.4W.2 update though).
Haven't you finished downloading and installing the update you were getting? It should be the 4.4W.2 update.
It's really really slow, it's going on from at least 45mins now. So if I "force" 1.0.5 downloading it and stopping the actual download on the smartwatch (that probably is 4.4w2) I should get directly 5.0.1...

Unless the download has stopped, I really wouldn't do that if I were you...
You are already experiencing problems with the watch (BT connection, download speed etc), problems which may make the next update troublesome and which would likely be fixed by the update you are already downloading..
Based on the time passed, it will take around four hours to download. Is it possible? I'm on an 8MB ADSL. Is it the BT so slow?
Done. I stopped the download, make a fabric reset, upgraded the Android wear to 1.0.5, restarted the download and after 3hrs it was updated to 5.0.1. Wonderful...
I have 1.0.5 of Android Wear, but I'm stuck on 4.4W.1 on the Sony Smartwatch 3 that I bought from Verizon this morning. Being new to Android Wear, it took me hours today to figure out why I couldn't do any of the cool things that the watch reviewers could do. I wasted so much time trying to get Google Play Music to work. Only to realize later that it's because I don't have that functionality yet. That functionality is why I bought the watch! It's what Sony and Google is selling!
If it doesn't come in a day or two, I'll have to return it. I don't trust Verizon to ever rollout an update. I know it should be a stock watch and have nothing to do with Verizon.... But I don't trust them to not have snuck in somehow and altered the watch so that they can control the updates.

Has nothing to do with Verizon... Android wear is purely controlled by Google/android...It is NOT a phone or tablet therefore a carrier cannot affect updates just be patient it's coming bro
Yes, I incorrectly disparaged Verizon, so I have to circle back and make the correction. It's a stock device and they have not customized the software like I had assumed. They tried to be helpful before passing me off to Sony this morning. On Sony's end, I had to download a Windows (also available for Mac) app called Sony PC Companion, and it forced an updated for my watch. So I'm up to 4.4W.2 and I have the features I want.

[SOLVED] - Keyboard hides chat window in Game of War

Okay, yes. I'm a GOW junkie (I don't spend..............anymore ) but after the MM upgrade, I find that in the chat window, the keyboard obscures the chat input so I cannot see what I'm typing. I've tried the stock LG G3 keyboard, Swiftkey (my default keyboard I use), Flesky and Google keyboard. All of them experience the same issue. The only way to circumvent this issue is to use Swiftkey and undock the keyboard so it's above the chat window.
I've tested another game called Mobile Strike which uses the GOW engine and it does NOT experience the same issue. Only GOW.
I have a Nexus 7 (2012) and I recently flashed a MM ROM (from a Google developer) and it does NOT have the issue, so it appears to be something with the G3 MM upgrade. Before the upgrade, when I was on stock LP, the keyboard issue didn't exist, so it has to be the G3 MM upgrade.
My upgrade was done via an official OTA that I received over the network (I didn't side load it or retrieve it from the forums or a download site), so it's what I received from VZW. I've done a factory reset and that hasn't fixed the issue either.
I'm not about to downgrade back to LP as I like the MM upgrade, and with the Swiftkey, I have a way to get around the "bug", but I wasn't sure if others running official MM on the G3 are seeing the same issue? I've emailed MachineZone (the game devs) and they were of little to no help. Not sure if I should contact someone from LG or VZW on this.
Thanks!
Okay, update on this.
It appears the issue has to do with the game from Google Play. When I installed it from Amazon, the issue goes away.
Hmmm....
Are both the same version # of the game? Just curious since I've found in the past that on Amazon they often stop updating their apps at some point, but I haven't used their app store in a good long while so... ?

No, they are different versions. They were both updated in March, but the Google Play version was updated around March 17th, and the Amazon version was updated around March 22nd.
MZ did acknowledge that there were issues with the LG phones not working correctly after the MM update regarding the keyboard and they were looking into it.
So, in the meantime, I've switch to the Amazon version for now on the G3 and all my keyboards work. That is, until they break the Amazon version.

Keys
Is there anyway of downloading through Amazon onto a Samsung tab a 6
Not sure about the Samsung Tab. You have to get the Amazon App from their web site and download it there. You also have to make sure you enable in system settings the security setting that allows installing APKS from unknown sources since the Amazon Underground App is not on Google Play.
Also, an update on my issue. After several updates, the issue with my keyboard in the Google Play version has persisted. However, a few months ago, I started going through all the settings and saw one setting which was turned on:
Battery->Battery Saver->Game Optimizer
When I turned this off, the issue with the chat window being hidden disappears. Not sure why this doesn't affect the Amazon version. Just another example of MZ and their abhorrent lack of QA when releasing updates.
GoW buggy keyboard.....

Hi, I to have been having issues with my GoW in game keyboard, I'm going to start from now and work my way back, currently I have a xaomi redmi 2, and they roll out with KK.......
I got pretty frustrated with the GoW keyboard issue and went as far as to install a emulated MM rom but I still have the same issue, so I am convinced that the problem lies with MZ, their developers need to check their shight, I been playing GoW for the best part of 2 and a half years and in the earlier days the keyboard issues didn't exist, previously I first had my GoW account on my Samsung S4 for roughly a year and then I had it on my LG G4.....
Yeah I am still pretty frustrated about not being able to communicate within GoW if you find a workaround for this lemme know.

If you read my response just before your post, you'll see how I fixed it.
Basically, turn off Game Optimizer in the G3. That will fix the keyboard issue.
I'm no longer on the G3 and I quit GoW months ago. MZ got WAY to greedy with the updates and within a few weeks, my trap account was invalid and the only way to get it back to where it was would have been to spend tons of money. No thank you.

Reviews for 32.2.A.4.3

Hey guys,
what's your experience with the new 32.2.A.4.3 firmware?
I have been waiting for some reviews on it as well. But it seems a very limited number of people have got it and they've neither installed it yet nor they are around here to tell us What I am expecting on this update includes 1- November security patches, 2-Updated camera UI (with manual controls as in XZ and X Compact), 2-A newer version of Xperia Home. (at least some of them, if not all)
The only thing I know is that 32.2.A.4.3 was an open source archive from sony. No idea what that Norwegian company did with it, but I have no plans to test it out.
Main reason I don't believe this is real firmware update: version going from 32.2.A.0.305 to 32.A.4.3 doesn't make any sense.
I am no expert but from what I see, all the listed firmware on developer.sonymobile.com eventually ended up being commercially released. I guess we'll have to wait for a couple of days and see whether it's going to be live in any other regions or not...
Well Telenor Mobil NO has gotten it.
Check https://xpericheck.com/device/E5823 for that...
Doing a diff between 32.2.A.0.305 and 32.A.4.3 open source archives shows just a few tiny changes. The ROM itself may have more changes, though.
Mines just updated, NOBA
I got the update today about half an hour ago. August security patch and about 90mb. Can't see any differences.
Me too. I updated. I don't see anything new. Camera app, launcher, settings, nothing. Just the August 1 security patch.
Updated and for me it screwed up my phone. Home and Menu buttons stopped working, but gave tactile feedback when I pressed them anyway. Back button worked though. But kind of rendered the phone unusable.
Also the top pulldown menu did not work anymore.
Needed to do a system restore to get it working again (joy...)
Don't do 32.2.A.4.3
Upgraded to :silly:
Phone is really slow after upgrade, most apps lagging and sometimes crashing.
Instagram is a nightmare after this upgrade..
Using screenshoot function takes 15-30 sec before picture captured.
Doing re-install in a couple of days.
DO NOT UPGRADE
There's a new release on developer.sonymobile.com: 32.2.A.5.11
Maybe is a fix of the problems in this version. So if you have 32.2.A.4.3 maybe you should wait for this update.

Question Any information about Android 13

We got the information by early November, but still nothing happened. Anyone with some information when this is gonna be released?
There was new update for japanese version 2 days ago...not sure if its patch or new version https://xpericheck.com/SOG09/24936126
I ve got US 62 model and the only thing i ve got so far is security update.
Hope they fix wifi because its awfull at least on mine.
nope not even a new security patch
that's Sony guy's
I have the Xperia 5 IV XQ-CQ72 and i got update notification but still on Android 12. no 13 yet.
I have Xperia 5 IV XQ-CQ72 too. No 13 either, but I just bought the phone (Black Friday acquisition). I'm new to Sony family, previously I had a few Vivo phones. So far I'm impressed. It's amazing how Japanese squeeze such a lot of electronics into a small phone, even a 5Ah battery, and everything works flawlessly.
I'm glad that I don't experience two issues usually mentioned in phone reviews - overheating and unreliable fingerprint.
I don't have a chance to really test the camera, though. But on the first sight it looks more promising than I expected. After all, I came from Vivo.

The phone is great, except it kills apps from background too fast. That's a software issue thankfully and can be resolved with a software update.

I've been chatting with Sony support about this and providing whatever videos they ask for as evidence. Hopefully they address the problem since I've given them logcat dumps demonstrating the issue.
I just got info from Sony support today that one of the issues I've reported should be fixed in the Android 13 release due by the end of next week (Dec 23). I'm in the US with the 62 model.
I just flashed the 64.1.A.0.857 via newflasher ...
Downloaded the firmware via XperiFirm.
Device: XQ-CQ54
Merry Christmas everyone ...
I just dirty flashed 64.1.A.0.857 on a rooted XQ-CQ72. No issues so far

For that matter - since Sony openly lets us unlock the bootloader, OFW updates are a full-go for us and won't impede rooting ability, right?

1.- Only for international devices. Sony doesn't allow bootloader unlock for US devices.
2.- As far I know, modified devices (unlocked bootloader) lose OTA. I had to manually update using Xperiafirm and newflasher

By the way, I'm infinitely glad I picked one up in Japan over the US because this scrutiny is ridiculous! That said, I'm not rooted just yet and I'd have to prep a full file (mostly in-phone backup of pics) backup first, so I'm not rooted yet and seems like jumping to 13 first makes the most sense.
That said, I seriously gotta tip my hat to Sony for just allowing us to do entirely as we please with their phones while literally every other brand is cockblocking our freedom. Over the years, I missed having a task killer soooo much to save random background apps slowly tugging at the battery and then all the magisk plugins like ad blockers.
