just read this in http://androidandme.com/2009/11/news/google-releases-source-code-for-android-2-0/ that source code for eclair got released. so is it possible now to use hero kernel with this source code and built a rom of eclair for hero?
I have a HTC One X, and I'd like to build a custom ROM for it.
But I'm not sure how different are the kernel source code from CyanogenMod and the kernel source code provided by HTC? For example, are there some CyanogenMod specific kernel modules?
I couldn't find much information on Google, and I think running a diff might be too much work to do.

What is kernel source code exactly?? Also for roms like cyanogenmod why is kernel source code required since we have the original rom of micromax? Also isnt there a way to reverse engineer the kernel source code?

My device is M8tl and I want to build an ElementalX kernel.... However, I am not familiar with it .I searched rhe forum but I cannot find a tourial like this....I have downloaded My device's kernel source from HTCDEV.com and ElementalX kernel source from GitHub... Can anyone tell me what to do next?Waiting for reply...
