Screen mirroring with dex pad and a21s? - Samsung Galaxy A21s Questions & Answers

I own the Samsung dex pad and it works perfectly fine with my galaxy s9. But i can't use it on my a21s, because Samsung is a bit of an asshole and they simply disable some features on their cheaper phones (at least thats my theory). Does anyone know a bypass that lets me allow screen mirroring over USB-C? Thanks

IMO this is a bit useless, it's part of the promo bonus here in Indonesia..
It only allows charging in portrait position, and some (if not most) application don't support portrait position..
Also if MHL to HDMI cable allows you to HDMI output directly from the tab, what's the point of docking this?

Old Galaxy S2 as a miracast receiver possible?

Hello community
I'm searching for a solution to use my old galaxy s2 as a miracast receiver. My screen is broken but the touch works fine and the glas itself is not cracked, it's the amoled display itself. So my screen is not working but I can use it with an Mhl adapter. I can display the screen of my s2 via HDMI.
My new phone is a Moto X which does not support Mhl, the only way to stream my Moto x screen is via miracast. I don't have an smart tv or an miracast dongle but i have an i9100 with Mhl support So how I can turn my galaxy s2 into an miracast receiver?
Miracast for Samsung Galaxy S2X (SGH-T989)
Has anyone been able to get Miracast to work for the Samsung Galaxy S2X (the SGH-T989)?
I have this phone, and would love to find a rom that will allow the Miracast to work with it.

S9 not working with 3rd party dex station

I got a cheap ebay dex station and it works perfectly with s8 but doesn't work with s9. I know S9 is compatible with the old version of the original samsung dex station. So is there anything I can do to make this work on s9. I have the link below of the dex station.
https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/HDMI-Dex-...835486?hash=item440fdbbe5e:g:QNAAAOSwL81aO19I
Could anyone help me to get this work with S9 please.
does anyone have any idea
me too not working but i use custom rom , which rom you are using official ?
Yeah, buy an official Dex Station
I solved it. It was my case. So the case was thin but it seems like the phone didn't go in completely. Once I took out the case the dex worked in s9 and turned into mousepad

S9+ DeX mode with generic adapter

Hi All
Has anybody managed to get DeX to kick in when connected to an non genuine adapter? Got a £18 generic USB.c to HDMI and power and although the display shows a mirror of my phone screen and the phone charges ok, Dex refuses to kick in. I don't see a way to manually start it. Tried connecting all in different order, tried usb keyboard and all other suggestions I found while researching my issue, but nothing works.
Weird thing is that my mate's Note9 works ok with the same adapter...
Suggestions welcome.
Thanks
When I was on CR15 Pie it would kick on when I plugged my generic hdmi-c adaptor. It worked but had colored lines randomly across the screen probably due to CR15 being a leaked beta version, but DEX kicked on automatically on my S9+ (G965U)
Now that I'm back on Oreo its back to only mirroring the screen as normal.
I am waiting for a more interesting answer from other friends

The Note 9 doesn't need a Dex device for Dex mode to work. It works with anything, even just a USB-C > HDMI cable.
But the S9/S9+ DOES need a Dex device for Dex mode to work.
There are some 3rd party devices that manage to get it working. Usually these are devices that say they are specifically for Nintendo Switch. They'll sometimes also list Dex too.

You can't just use any random USB-C to HDMI adapter.

DEX mode on external 4k monitor cannot change resolution to above FHD?

Hi everyone,
I intended to use my SM-T865 for presentation and conference call with screensharing and it's been great so far. Only one thing that bugs me is that when I share using DEX, I cannot change the resolution to above FHD which causes the participants cannot read the text from my shared screen.
Anyone been experiencing this?
FYI I'm using Belkin hub and hooked to a 4k Samsung TV, so I doubt the source and hub having any issues, cause i used it with my macbook it works well.
Is it DEX does not seem to support this feature although in the resolution dex you can see the other options from FHD to 4k, or is it just me?
Here is an interesting explanation about DeX, from Samsung: https://insights.samsung.com/2020/08/05/the-beginners-guide-to-samsung-dex-5/
From how I understand it, one of the problems could be the adapter/HDMI cable you are using which might not support high resolutions.
Did you try using DeX for PC, as an alternative? It is not working for me (with Note 8, Note 10+ or Tab S6) but who knows?
Unfortunately, I can't test you scenario because my TV is only FHD.
Increasing font size on your tablet does not have any effect on DeX mode?

? indeed I also read around where hub might cause the problem. I tried dex for Mac but didn't work. I'll try another cable then. Best bet already.
I have also tried this dongle from ages ago from my note 9, still not able to move above FHD
If your dongle is from ages ago, probably it won't support higer resolutions then FHD. Try to find a newer one with 4k specs.

I've tried 3rd party DeX cables and thr official Samsung DeX Pad on a couple 4K TV with my Note 10+ and my Tab S6. I've never been able to set DeX above FHD. Very annoying to have a phone, DeX Pad, and TV that all supposedly support 4K, but not be able to use it.

I just tried it with my sm-t865 and its the same here.
Got a 4k monitor with a hdmi 2.0 and hdcp 2.2 port and I used a ugreens hdmi to usb-c cable that also supports hdcp 2.2 and [email protected]
Edit: my samsung s10 also only goes upto fhd.
Also i found this thread. I guess it really depends on your setup. Some luck is involved.

Here are my findings using a UGreen USB-C to HDMI adapter 4K/60Hz and a UGreen HDMI 2.0 Cable 4K/60Hz to connect to a WQHD (2560x1440) pc display:

I guess its related to the monitor/tv and if it supports the wqhd resolution. If the 4k tv only has an fhd and 4k setting it probably wont support the wqhd resolution.

That's what i think too, that there are certain resolutions supported only on pc displays and not on tv sets, unfortunately.

I know this is an older thread, but it's coming up in search results. DEX will currently only go to a maximum resolution of 2560x1440, and only if you are using "approved" Samsung DEX hardware or cables. Otherwise it will be limited to 1920x1080.
To override this behavior when using a third-party 4K UHD cable, get the "GoodLock" app from the Samsung Galaxy App Store. Open the app and install the multitasking extension. It contains a DEX section which will allow you to override this limitation, among other useful tweaks.
FYI - wireless DEX is also limited to FHD, unless you are streaming to a Samsung 4K TV over the 5GHz band, then it will go up to 2560x1440.
DEX will never fully utilize 4K UHD 3840x2160 in its current state due to some standards-compliance mumbo-jumbo. I don't understand this, because I can plug the same cable into my laptop and get 4K--it's just a different device. Enabling "Experimental Desktop Mode" through Developer Options on the phone will also output 4K, but launchers don't support it well (yet).
hi all. tell me please - how can I unlock 120 hz mode in Samsung dex? I know that it used to be, then after the update it became 60, but perhaps some information remained in the old kernels. maybe you need a custom kernel...
hello , i've notice something weird as I was giving up trying to get my s10 above WHQH resolution, with good lock
i just tested dex on a s21 plus , installed good lock , and with this phone i can get dex to UHD (4k) with the same hdmi cable + usb c hub i use with my s10 ... so now at least i know it's not about my setup.. but wondering if there is a difference between dex devices , as some could not be able to display 4K ?
