[ROM][PORTED][11] Custom Roms for Galaxy A20e (Lineage, Havoc..) - Samsung Galaxy A20 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Ot

------------ Short Background --------------------
There are many custom roms for A20 while no roms for A20e. But two phones are very alike. Both uses Universal7885 SoC as base, have same GPU (Mali-G71) etc etc... And because we have a vendor partition, all the device specific files are in there. So this ROM works like a GSI, but for Samsung phones, for Universal7885 phones, for A20, A20e. Only difference is kernel and dtbo. All ROMs are ported by Gabriel260.
------------------- Working and Not Working----------------------
Same with A20.
WORKS:
RIL (Calls, SMS, Data)
Bluetooth
Wi-Fi
Camera
Video Recording
Video Playback
Audio (Record and Playback)
Sensors
Flashlight
DOESN'T WORK:
VoLTE and bluetooth calls (Blame Samsung for that)

LATER EDIT: please talk with someone with more experience, I am not an expert on
flashing!

Crrrr said:
I was really excited by this, but unfortunately, in my case, after flashing the lineage file with my TWRP (version 3.5.1-9-0) and restarting, it refused to load (just a black screen...). I tried with both enforce and permissive.
Samsung A20e, SMA202F.
I had to return to the custom ROM I was previously using, the GSI image created by AndyYan (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/gsi-11-lineageos-18-x-gsi-all-archs.4205461/
https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/lineage-18.x/).
For some reason, I couldn't load that GSI custom rom as well after flashing, so I reflashed the stock ROM with Odin, then installed TWRP and then the custom rom.
For those interested, with my phone both lineage-18.1-20210411-UNOFFICIAL-treble_arm64_bvS.img.xz and lineage-18.1-20210411-UNOFFICIAL-treble_a64_bvS-vndklite.img.xz worked.
Good luck with your work!

Seriously, I don't get what you mean. The lineage OS boot perfectly with my phone.
Have you tried forcing the phone to reboot? That bug can happen. If you rebooted the phone and blank screen was greeting you. It is most likely to be solved by soft reset

It may be I did something wrong or that I didn't try hard enough, I'm not an expert on flashing, I only flashed my phone like 3-4 times and my Tab3 10 like 2-3 times.
I tried several times restarting, it didn't work. Maybe a step-by-step guide would be useful.
I apologize for not previously being constructive. Your work and that of other developers here on XDA is very important.

The preinstalled home launcher doesn't work on dotos after flashing Niki gapps, I'm using havoc is which works fine

If a new update for Android 11 comes out how am I meant to update the stock rom

How would I change the charge animation on this ROM, like the animation that plays when you plug in the charger

My understanding is that you flash with Odin the stock firmware (BL, AP, CP, CSC), then you flash the TWRP (AP) with Odin, wipe everything, then install the custom ROM.
Before doing this, make a backup of your files.
You can also backup the entire system with TWRP in case something goes wrong with the new firmware. To return to the initial system, after a complete wipe, you flash in TWRP the resulting zip files.
You can also use a backuo app. At the moment, from my own research, the most user friendly app seems to be Migrate, available on Google Store/Aurora Store by BaltiApps. There are tutorials on YouTube on how to do this. My understanding is that in some exceptional cases, you need some maanual tinkering to complete the backup -see tutorials.
Please note that Migrate needs root. There are also other backup apps that do not need root, with different level of efficiency.
I haven't yet used Migrate, will try it after the Android 11 firmware update.
So the idea with Migrate is that you backup your files, apps and phone settings in some zips and after reinstalling the custom rom, at the end you also flash with TWRP the Migrate zips.
The above is solely based on my few months own research and experience, so you should do your own research.

What roms does work perfectly for daily use?

I'd like to double the question from Naksuhd. I'm thinking about buying this phone and would like to know if there are any stable alternative ROMs for everyday use before deciding.

Hi, I wasn't able to find a ROM for myself for this phone.
Personally I use AndyYan's Unoficial LineageOS GSI 18 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/gsi-11-lineageos-18-x-gsi-all-archs.4205461/), but with no Gapps, as I was looking for a de-Googled phone.
Apart from a few bugs, the GSI is updated monthly and is usable on a daily basis.

Can someone try porting AOSP Extended? It seems to be good rom.

Strange that 2 of the ROMs don't work for my phone. I only tried 2 so far. they worked before installing android 12 on it. Lineage OS just shows a black screen even after doing everything suggested. Project Sakura just bootloops and i tried the same things with it as well. Wouldn't be surprised if Android 12 "broke" something. I can flash the stock ROM, root it and install TWRP that way just fine.

I lost 2 days to figure it out and almost gave up. So, if you can't install lineage or any other ROM from the list above, you need to flash stock android 10 from this link:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=8889791610682876823
Then, flash the latest TWRP from the 1st post, and finally, you will be able to flash any of these ROMs. I successfully installed lineage.

anything to look out when flashing the custom ROM in TWRP? do i wipe the storage or not?

I personally wiped everything, Dalvik, Cache, Data, System, even internal memory. I installed it from SD card, plus Nik Gapps, and just rebooted from TWRP to the system. Everything works well.

Now it finally works. Thanks! Too bad the instructions weren't posted and that they are this strange.

Yes, when I tried to install this rom I had Android 11 installed and it did not boot. Haven't tried flashing Android 10 before.

First time installing crDroid to your Moto G5 Plus, or coming from another ROM:
** Make sure you're running a proper working Recovery such as TWRP
1) Copy crDroid zip, gapps zip to your device
2) Boot into Recovery
3) Wipe cache, system, & data (or just cache & system for a dirty flash).
4) Flash ROM
8) Flash gapps
9) Boot up
For root, AFTER you boot into the ROM, you can go back to recovery and install Magisk XX.x (whatever is most recent).
Upgrading from earlier version of crDroid:
The only difference between clean flash as above and upgrading is you just wipe system & cache, leaving data. Everything else is the same. ***Remember to always clean flash before reporting problems. Clean flashing is always the best method of ROM install.

Now we're talking! I'm still on 3.8.8 - excited to make the jump once stable. Keep up the great work.
EDIT: First of all, thanks for porting crDroid PIE V5.0 [Android 9.0] to G5 Plus!
Looks promising.
Install worked without problems, booting up and first conf as well.
What i missed was a setting for seeing mobile network status in the navbar and the cam app crashed.
Another thing i couldnt find was the inbuilt root. As far as i can see the inbuilt root is not working.
And after writing back my backup it tells me that my pin is wrong. why is that?

Camera not working for me either. Also I am having the BT/WiFi conflict issue where WiFi disconnects randomly when my watch is paired up with the phone.
Otherwise great initial release! :good:

Was using previous build for a couple days, everything running very well except safetynet didn't pass in Magisk (but had root & modules worked fine). Yesterday was surprised to get an update notification, downloaded and dirty flashed in TWRP only wiping cache/dalvik at the end before reboot, after reboot all was fine and now Magisk passes safetynet. ROM has most of the crDroid Settings working including built-in Adaway with 15 host sources, it's a nice 9.0 ROM and would recommend to others.

I think this may motivate another "piece of Pie" for me. I have tried several flavors but fall back to the comfort of Oreo due to issues and missing features. I did try the last build of crDroid but was not getting Magisk, at all. I learned, later that a few reboots would have remedied that...
*** I am in ***
Looks very good and stable, thus far. One thing that I thought was there in earlier build (probably wrong) was the grid view of recents. Not a big deal but much preferred over the rotating tiles. Great work!
*** A few more notes ***
BT headset (Skull Candy) not working with phone audio. Media is working fine.
BT phone in MB working
V2T option not available with GBoard
Rebooting to recovery option not working - boots back into system
That build is amazing, runs smooth af.. Use GCam or Moto Cam as alternative of the included one!
Encryption doesn't work cause after the first boot I can't enter the pin code, it's just showing the patern lockscreen.

MoKee Open Source is the biggest non-profit Android Open Source development team in China, with members from all parts of the world. We follow the latest development from Google closely and improve various parts of Android according to the user habits. Being a non-profit organisation, we utilise our spare time and own funds to keep this passion alive. Therefore, the costs for the forum and servers are solely beared by us. In order to provide a good user experience, we only included a few preinstalls in the ROM. Along with the advertisements in the forum; we hardly get enough to pay for the bandwidth. The point is, those are our only source of income, however many developers choose to exclude them when releasing unofficial builds. Unlike CyanogenMod, we did not accept monetary help at the early stages, as in China, most people do not understand the meaning of “making a donation”. They would think of it as buying a service, which is conflicting with our objectives. Anyways, we still made it until today, and even started to provide third party developers a chance to utilise our OTA system. All of these are the fruit of our hard work and passion. We are proud of the happy users, and we are also proud of the support given to MoKee Open Source. Most importantly, we are proud of the improvements we have achieved all these while, and the advancements never stop.
I AM NOT THE DEVELOPER OF THIS ROM AND I ONLY MAKE THIS THREAD FOR XDA COMMUNITY. IN ANY CASE, MOKEE AND GuaiYiHu HAS ALL THE RIGHTS OVER THIS ROM.

This is nice, but I think the flashing method is "copy pasted" from original site, and therefore will not work on this device. But i am not sure.
what i meant that wont work is that this device's normal flashing method requires a lot of reboot to recovery, while the OP's instructions is for A devices only.

Actually 7A is A-only device, working as system-as-root.
The OP's instructions are right, cuz I installed it this way and everything works fine.
Thank you this is a good step forward. I'm going to try this rom later this evening.
Wipe data of format data?
Coming from stock MIUI 11 Android 9 do I have to format the data partition or to wipe it? Usually MIUI to AOSP needs a format.

Alright my bad, but flashing a gsi rom, we need to restart a lot(wipe, reboot to recovery, flash gsi, reboot to recovery, flash zips, reboot to system)
While this rom is installed in a traditional way (wipe and flash just like the old days) if someone can explain why itll be really appreciated.
I am really new to GSI and this phone but i am willing to help testing stuffs for development for this device! only if TWRP restore function works

I used twrp LR team from gsi post and worked with this recovery.if you need root download su add .magisk don't work...
Newest Magisk seems to be working through recovery at least work for me for installing NanoDroid.
There seems to be problem with setting up mobile hotspot. Mobile hotspot cant be seen or accessed with SSID either.
ROM also lacks possibility to have navigation bar binded.
Is it possible to use the SD Card as internal storage with this rom? It's more or less the single reason I'd flash a different rom for.
the batery life it is much smaller than miui's
I flash the rom following the instructions, but my cel doesn't boot, only reboot and boot to twrp, i'm only flashing the system without su, magisk or gapps, but it's the same, what can be wrong?

The same, doesn't boot, it's curious because the GSI roms doesn't work for me too, i don't know why. I'm coming from MIUI 11, but i rollback to 10.2.5 so shouldn't have problem with this, but i have.
I rollback with MiFlash Tool with fastboot rom global
EDIT: I get the GSI Rom working, just format DATA and type YES on TWRP
EDIT2: After make the DATA reset with TWRP i was able to boot with the MoKee Rom :3

EDIT: I get the GSI Rom working, just format DATA and type YES on TWRP
EDIT2: After make the DATA reset with TWRP i was able to boot with the MoKee Rom :3

amost evrything you need
in detail, most stuff works: ril, wifi, gps, video, audio, bt-audio, pip, nfc, drm, fm-radio,
except what's listed in bugs
encryption works, decryption in TWRP also (at least with my TWRP), more details come, be careful and take a full backup before encryptingBugs
sim-pin does not work, so you need a sim with removed pin
mobile data does not work most of the time, sometimes it does
gps works but fix sometimes needs a long time, especially with low signal (indoors)
included screen-recording app does not work on the J5 devices
dual-sim issues (possible workaround in second post)
no Volte!

Instructions
At least MarshMallow bootloader is required or you will not be able to boot the rom !
Latest stock firmware is recommended before installing this rom, even if it might work with older versions !
You have to reboot one time after first boot to make mobile data work.
Use the TWRP from the download-link for your device above (needs to be flashed from existing TWRP, ODIN version might come)
Download the latest build
Put it on your device
Reboot to TWRP
If you want to be sure wipe the device
Flash the latest build
Clean Cache and Dalvik if you want
Reboot and enjoy
Others
Easily rootable with the great Magisk (stable) by @topjohnwu.
I use it as daily driver without major issues, except mobile data (see above).
I use microG as google replacement and for push-services, signature-spoofing is already build into the rom but need to be enabled in "Settings -> Bootleg dumpster -> Miscellaneous" and granted in "Settings -> apps" and/or in microG-Settings.

Howto use dualsim
This works for me on my test j5xnlte:
It doesn't matter which sim is your data-sim.
Before setting your data sim to 3g or 4g (aka LTE):
make sure to set 2g as preferred network on the sim you do not use for data.
The data sim can then be set to whatever you want.
Never ever try to change the sim after you started a call, if you do so you most likely have to restart the device to make things work again.
Before restarting the device you can try to set both sims to 2g and switch the data sims twice (easiest way with the QS-tile)
Reserved
Great work!:good:
Hope you'll continue this project and will make it stable.
Great work
Thank you so much

About LineageOS
LineageOS is a free and open-source operating system for set-top boxes, smartphones and tablet computers, based on the Android mobile platform. It is the successor to the custom ROM CyanogenMod, from which it was forked in December 2016 when Cyanogen Inc. announced it was discontinuing development and shut down the infrastructure behind the project. Since Cyanogen Inc. retained the rights to the Cyanogen name, the project rebranded its fork as LineageOS.
LineageOS was officially launched on December 24, 2016, with the source code available on GitHub. Since that time, LineageOS development builds now cover more than 185 phone models with over 1.9 million active installs, having doubled its user base in the month February–March 2017 And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

Is step #5 really necessary? If in step #1 a fastboot ROM is used it already contains the firmware.
Also what's the status on SeLinux and SafetyNet?
Very nice and good job!

Hello Compass,
Step #5 isn't necessary to do so, but some users ping about the brick they faced while shifting from any other rom so i usually Suggest Users to flash FW too
For now SELinux is permissive & Cts fails by default but can be fixed using mods & hide props.
I hate Android 11/12 but this looks promising.
Also can't we just use Dynamic TWRP? (Yes we can)
Installed it and the issues are:
1)From restoring a backup,it may say it can't contact google servers,in that case re-login and it should be solved.
2)I can't find OEM unlocking in the settings
3)Can't change button shortcuts. They always stay the same
Also DON'T use UnicornHorn Kernel on this ROM due to the Android version, though you'll most likely end up in a soft-brick (Learned that the hard way)
Im so curious about battery life. I've tried couple of A12 rooms for N8P and all of them had the worst battery stats. I would only get 3and half SOT which is so bad.

Hello! How to build this ROM? Is there an instruction?
Hi my wifi sharing connection is connected but cannot access internet
Notifications works, Facebook app too, but Chrome doesn't neither Google Play store
So weird...
Why is "Material You" theming system not working? Is this something about this particular ROM? Or is it an app problem? Or is it just for me?
Can someone help ?
Hello, I've tested the ROM and it looks good 'till now. The only problems I had were:
- first time I've installed it from stock ROM (MIUI 12.5.x) I've soft-bricked it (dunno how) - [after installing the ROM]. I couldn't get to the recovery. I mean, I've got there, but the slider didn't showed up (only the twrp banner), stayed like this for ~1 min and then automatically rebooted and then back again and so on. I've unbricked it by reflashing `boot.img` (I could get into fastboot mode). Still, after reflashing I couldn't get to the recovery (same story but not bootloop).
P.S: I've also tried a dozen other TWRPs, none worked.
I've installed the stock ROM again and reinstalled the custom one (this time the recovery problem is not present, I can access TWRP now).
- It lags a bit sometimes, for instance when you unlock it and move between screens.
- Can't adjust the volume of call when on speaker (it stays the same - loud enough).
I would like to know how to set SELinux to enforcing. `echo 1 > /sys/fs/selinux/enforce` didn't worked out.
Edit: Also, alongside the SELinux notification that pops up when the phone starts, I get another notification from Trust that says that this build was signed with public keys.
Update: I've managed to set SELinux to Enforcing mode by editing this Magisk module, but...
1. The fingerprint sensor didn't worked after that
2. Files app crashed at open
3. Couldn't take screenshots
and probably there were more issues to be discovered.

I wouldn't suggest enabling SELinux on this ROM because it's doesn't work properly. Try using Dynamic TWRP for the recovery and flash a fastboot stock ROM instead of recovery ROM because recovery ones do not contain the proper firmware.
do you have a set of build files for this?
eg: https://github.com/LineageOS/android_device_xiaomi_begonia
where is the gapps file?

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Make sure you have latest bootloader and modem before installing this.
Make sure you are using the latest Twrp build. (the older ones will fail)
Make sure you have flashed the repartition script.
Download the Lineage build, optionally GApps and Magisk.
In Twrp format data. (Menu > Manage Partitions > Data > Format Data)
In Twrp wipe everything except SD and OTG.
Flash LineageOS.

Because t585 does not contain a vendor partition, so this script repartitions the device and makes a partition for the vendor .

Yes, you need it because the ROM has become GSI, you can try Android 12 using lineage 18 vendor .

OK, thanks for the explanations ... I think I'll stay on my old A10 rom instead. I don't want to mess with partitions and stuff.

Can you make this for T580. Tried this partiton script but got /vendor (invalid argument) error
Hi
I have SM T585 U7
And I flashed (lineage16) on it, then I used ( repartition script) and flashed recovery (3.7.0.gtaxllt) and (lineage 18.1) and I did not like it very much, so I deleted it and also deleted (vendor) and flashed (lineage 16) again and restarted it, and it remained standing on the recovery logo and it did not It works until I flashed (cf root t585) via (odin), so it booted, but whenever I re-install any TWRP, it just stays on the logo and does not boot.
I got bored and wanted to restore the original system and downloaded it and put it in the (odin) and the flashing was successful, but the device continues to restart to no avail
I flashed TWRP again and found system (0
system img (3180
I do not know where the problem is, although the ROM is the original ROM, and the flashing is done successfully in Odin, but without a system
And it continues to restart. The Odin files that I used are the official AP.CP.HOMECSC .CSC.BL
I just want to return the original rom
Do you have a solution.
Thanks
I really need some help
I just installed this ROM successfully yesterday and it was working just fine on my sm-t585
But...
For some reason today it decided to brick my touch
Only the hardware buttons are functional and it's 50% charged so it's gonna take a lot of time for me to try to shut it down
So does anyone have any clue why that happened and how to fix it
(Note: the 2 touch buttons next to the home button are touch as well and they are also bricked)
Edit: I remembered that I installed the repartition script twice and now I have 2 vendors can I get rid of one ?! And how
Edit² : I did some troubleshooting and I found out what caused the touch problem...... It was the darn battery saving mode but now am wondering if anybody encountered the same problem
