Accessories A list of compatible phone holsters - Sony Xperia 1 III

Due to unusual size of the phone, I would like to build up a list of compatible holsters and pouches, of what is available on the market.
Please share links and pros and cons as well, if there is any personal experience.

Why no Google / Android ISO standard?

Does any one know, why after all these years & devices, Google android and the manufacturers of these devices cannot come up with an accessory standard for these phones?
I know 99% use micro usb...but...they are placed in different spots on each phone, thus eliminating the possibility to create universal accessories made for ANDROID...like apple has...you know... thousands of products from simple alarm clocks to home theater/car receivers, all compatible with their whole line...
Why not create a standard with android and profit from the sales of these things?
Droid phones clearly outsell Iproducts, but only due to the fact that there are 100's of them in different variations...so why not keep those choices while somewhat universalizing them...?
I have no interest in buying an Ianything, they are not made for people like me that love to tweak/customize, try different things with their device... I would, however like to be able to go to frys and pick up a $30 alarm clock / desktop cradle etc.. I can dock/charge my phone in... then NOT having to buy them again once I updgrade / change phones...
Any thoughts?
Perhaps this XKCD comic strip would help explain why there is no standard.
(The mouseover-text is the funniest part.)

[Q] iphone 6 or blackberry passport

I'm faithful android user. No idea of changing from android, as a primary phone.
Currently using Blackberry Bold 9790 for office use ( not heavy on office email). would like to replace it with iphone 6 or bb passport ( or future bb phones as per MWC 2015).
Which one should i get. Based on some sites they recommend passport rather than iphone ; but my friends pushing me for iphone. My criteria:
1) I prefer to do a bit of customisation on the device i own; hardly stick with 100% factory settings (i.e themes, icon pack, interface etc) .
2) good user experience
3) fair app supports.
pls help....
Both devices are terrible with customizaions, except if you were to jailbreak the iPhone you could customise it a bit more.
The user experience on the iPhone is as expected,( locked down version of android but no where near as good ) but for something different the passport is the best as it is a square phone and may take a bit of getting used to.
App supports- the iPhone has the advantage of amount of apps over bb but alot of these will cost money and more than on the play store. But now bb has Amazon app store support so there will now be free app of the day and these apps are also on android but there are not as many as there are on the play store.
The iPhone is more of a status riser as most people think of apple as high quality goods makers and alot of people have them because their friends have them and they do not want to feel left out or different whereas BlackBerry are now falling out of the market so I would go for one of those if you want to be different or follow the android motto: “Be together, not the same”.
So I would pick the passport just to be different and stand out from the crowd.
The passport is awesome. Being able to get Amazon store apps and Android apps on it is a major bonus. The build quality is really solid and the keyboard is my favorite for a qwerty keyboard mobile device so far.
That being said, the iPhone has the status that comes with Apple devices and has a great camera. The user experience is also a lot better.
As an avid Android user, I would pick the Passport over the iPhone due to the huge amount of apps available for it if you use something like snap apk downloader.
thanks guys... keep your suggestions & justification pouring...:good:
anymore feedback?

4-port gamepad adapter - able to use controllers from many (many) different systems!

Thought I would bring this up here, given how many of us like to game with emulators on our Shield Tablets.
It is currently on Kickstarter, but the thing about this one is that the actual product already exists and works - the guy has been making similar adapters for years with very good feedback. The funding is needed to rationalise the production costs by being able to order a large enough run on parts.
Anyone interested in a product like this please back this one and share it widely to social media, this missed funding on one round already given it's relatively niche appeal.

Maybe it wasn't noticed by advertising it in an Android tablet section of a modding site... :/

Need Android Accessory Design Schematics

I am a product designer looking to develop new phone case accessories for the Android market. I have been working as part of a small startup for a few months. We have mostly been concentrating on Apple products thus far; mainly because of their popularity and availability of online design guides (schematic drawings provided by Apple).
We are looking to develop more Android phones because we've had a lot of requests to expand our line. My issues is that I cannot find any reliable and accurate schematics or 3D CAD for ANY Android phones that are currently available. :-/
Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to find measurements, drawings, accurate CAD (not for rendering only) models? Where do companies get their information from? Is it worth giving Samsung a phone call or email?
Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Google free One Plus X advice please.

Hi All,
I just picked up one of these phones for 80 gbp.
Reason for buying is I wanted a well built phone with no FP reader that I could basically make it secure but also had some community love. I was also thinking of 1+1's but dont know whether there is much support for that handset and getting hod of them. there seems to be quite a few X's circulation on Ebay where I got mine from.
I would like opinions please on ROMs that could create a secure platform base for me to build on.
I have looked at Lineage OS having used that before on a Pixel 2 but I have also had a look at /e/ as it seems to give a decent base.
My thoughts where to bundle it up with secure apps 'out of the box' so to speak and create a backup I could reflash to multiple X devices ( if thats possible?)
I have client who works in security and wants these phones for their guards but not accessing google services et al while on shift.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks
Gurkha
