3.0.8AH7 TCL 10 Pro OTA, 1.2GB - TCL 10 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Just started getting prompt yesterday. Indicates that is major software update.
I cannot seem to be able to get matlog the READ_LOGS permission that it needs
as user 2000 or process doesn't have permission to do so when using adb shell.
I was trying to get to the url location of the update, download keeps failing due
to "couldn't connect to server" at around 80%.
edit: The 3 dots on 2nd image are from "show touches" when taking screen shot.
Not sure why they were captured in second, but not in first. Hasn't happened before.

[Q]Update button does nothing?

So I went into my setting to see if the update happened to be out but when I clicked the "check for update" button it didn't even have a pop up to let me check or even tell me that my device is up to date. Any thoughts on why this is?
Make sure .....
A) you setup a Samsung acct on your settings, accounts and sync
B) connected to a wifi with full open internet. My work wifi sometimes rejects email and some work protocols.
C) reboot your tab just incase a task killer or something killed a dependant process for the update or the OS is being querky.
I tried update and got nothing. Doubt anything will be on until at least midnight pacific ... but who knows where the US servers are for the Wifi tabs.

All that is set up correctly it's like the service isn't running or something. When I click check for updates it acts as though I never clicked it no pop up or anything.
Something to try, no guarantee: go to the app info for the app "Google Play services", go into Storage and clear the cache....do a restart of the device and try again. If it works I cannot tell you why (and I have asked Android support for that type of help...no really good answer).

[Q] Constant e-mail error message

I'm running CM7, and any time I have either Wi-Fi or Mobile Data on, I get an error message when I wake the phone. A small text box appears on on lower portion of the screen and says 'email', and is then followed by a message that 'Email not sent error. Trying again'. I cannot determine which process is executing this action. The OS is stable, the battery life has not changed, and other than being in the way of what I am doing when waking the phone, it doesn't appear to have otherwise affected my device. Any clues as to what it could be or how I could fix it?

[Q] Huge (2-120 minutes) lags with play store install uninstall, sms, root

Brand new Note 4 SM-N910C. Rooted in a first day and worked excellent for several weeks.
I recently start experiencing strange lags in lots of different places in android. Eventually I start thinking that they are related.
1. First of all SMS coming 5...50 minutes late, sometimes 2 hours late... If I put SIM in another phone, they arrives instantly. I cannot login to systems with sms passwords (online banking), because they are already expired when arrive.
2. If I click Uninstall in play store, it in 100% cases stuck in uninstalling... it is labeled as uninstalling and remains in this state for the 5...30 minutes. Then when I click Install again (does not matter what kind or what size of application or what connection I have) It usually stuck in the middle of downloading even if it is 150KB app. After 5...30 minutes it jumps to 'Installing' step and stuck here for another 5...30 minutes...
3. Most apps that want root access usually don't get it instantly, it also took some significant time... I usually even don't catch a moment when SuperSu finally asks me about permission and obligated to grant it manually in SuperSu...
4. There are a lot of other different minor lags that I usually never experienced...
This is obvious some software issue and I'm pretty sure that hard reset / restoring factory image can help, but this is too easy and didn't reveal the real cause of problem... I want to know how to deal with it in the future.
And finally, I just noticed in logcat this lines:
SecureStorage SPID (0x0000006B) wrong ready flag
SecureStorage SPID (0x00000000) could not connect to secure storage daemon
SecureStorage SPID (0x00000000) internal error
It is really hard to say what I did to achieve that, may be there is some update rolled... But first symptoms appeared 2 week ago and I really don't remember what I did.

NO CAMERA IS FOUND, and FLASHING via DROIDBOOT Questions, ASUS K01A, ME170CX

K01A, aka ASUS MeMO Pad ME170CX
Prod date 2014-10 IIRC.
Hello all.
I've been all over the net, and no-one it seems know what causes a "NO CAMERA IS FOUND" error message on Android devices.
I have 2 ME170CX's with a production date of 2014-10 IIRC about 30-days old running 4.4.2, firmware Version WW_V11.2.3.27 in which one of them all the sudden the camera app crashes 100% of the time, then gives a "No camera is found" error message.
*Pretty sure the camera worked after updating to 4.4.2, ASUS firmware Version WW_V11.2.3.27 but I have several devices so I can't confirm 100%
When I click the camera icon:
Cam app comes up, the "Still" pic capture icon lights up for (3) seconds.
During this time there is no live image, and icons appear "greyed out" /are non-functional.
At the end of the (3) seconds, the "Still pic"capture icon remains lit, and the "Video" capture icon lights up as well.
Both the "Still and the Video" icons remaining lit up for (1) second.
(4 seconds total)
At 4 seconds camera app crashes, you are dumped back to the desktop and you get a "NO CAMERA IS FOUND" error message.
Rebooting the device has NO affect, DITTO on doing a wipe, factory reset from within the OS, OR doing a wipe, running a "Recovery" from the device itself (Not connected to a PC) using DROIDBOOT.
Beyond a hardware issue no-one knows what causes this beyond (1) poster that mentioned he thought problem first occurred after hitting the "Home" button right after hitting the cam icon and the thought is the app gets confused by this and the app/firmware for the camera gets corrupted.
Figured I'd re-flash with same Version WW_V11.2.3.27, if that doesn't work try Version WW_V11.2.3.28 before RMA'ing it back to ASUS.
*NOTE: I have been unsuccessful in trying to flash either of the above firmwares to the K01A, aka ME170CX using just the ME170CX itself. (No PC connected.)
Is the trick to flash the firmware file(s) listed on ASUS to do so connected to a PC? ASUS site cryptically mentions SOP (Manual) Method and when I Google SOP I find a couple of PDF's that state when you insert a properly prepared SD card you should get a "prompt", a "pop-up" on the taskbar saying a update is ready to be installed.
The only notification I'm getting is "SD is being prepared" IIRC, and in the drop down window I only see a option to unmount the mounted SD card.
Can anyone offer some into on the No camera is found Error message?, and or point to any kind of decent guides with explain how to use DROIDBOOT?

Galaxy Tab E SM-T560NU, Android 5.1.1, can't disable guest, 3 dots missing

Have a customer with a Samsung Galaxy Tab E SM-T560NU. It's running Android 5.1.1. My customer wants parental control filters put on because he can't stop himself from watching porn on it (planning on using Norton Family). Problem is, Android 5+ have this stupid guest account that lets anyone get on and use the device, bypassing any filtering or parental controls.
All the guides have told me to go to Settings, Users, then press the 3 dots in the top right to disable guest account creation at the lock screen. Even Norton's instructions say to do this. But this tablet doesn't have 3 dots. It doesn't have a menu button. I tried holding down the program switch button, and it wants to do split screen apps.
I got desperate, so I rooted the phone. Tried a half dozen SQLite editors, followed the instructions at reddit. com/r/Android/comments/323l36/android_5x_how_to_disable_guest_additional_user/ (skipping steps 2 through 4), and it just won't save the change of guest_user_enabled to 0. I also installed ADB, ran ADB Shell on the PC, enabled USB debugging, approved the ADB connection, and ran "settings put global guest_user_enabled 0" to no effect. Running "settings get global guest_user_enabled" shows the value as 0 instead of 1, but reaccessing the SQLite DB shows it's still 1, and I can still get into the guest account from the lock screen after deleting the guest account. I also tried "settings put global guest_user_enabled 0" after running su to no avail. And I did restart the tablet after running the command. Once I did get behavior as expected, clicking on the person icon in the top right brought up the contact card instead of the menu to switch users, but after I went into settings and clicked on guest, it undid it.
So. Long story short, tl;dr, is there any way to disable the guest account?
