Can We Restore Google Backup In crDroid Rom with NikGapps Core ? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

After Flashing Rom, On first boot There was no option shown for Copy Data.. There was only an option related to crDroid cloud. After Rom boot there was also no option device set-up just like miui rom or aosp rom. Now everything working perfect and smooth in this ROM. But Now I need to my all messages which I had taken backup on my google drive.
Please help if any working method is exist to resolve my problem.

I think you installed the basic version of nikGapps. Try with a larger one, like the omni, in order to have Google/Pixel Setup Wizard.
This way the setup should ask you to restore a google backup.

I faced the same problems when flashing NikGapps myself. Although there is a download page listing all that goes into a package, there is hardly enough description. I'm sharing the solution I found here.
I tried installing the omni and the full version of NikGapps. Both packages included the 'Google setup wizard' but the wizard only gets triggered into action when it either recognizes a new account being added or at first boot after a factory reset. I didn't take any chances and factory reset the phone since it had nothing on it yet.
Other apps that I wish I had installed before were Android Auto, Google assistant and their dependencies. You can't flash them later (they give an error) and they don't work properly if they're installed from the play store.

Re-rooting?

I have a Note 2 (obviously), and I have rooted my phone the first day I got it and have never updated the phone since I purchased it. So, I am still on 4.1.2. My phone has been super laggy and I want to take the oppurtunity the when I reset my phone that I can take advatages of the new features that mobile phones have by upgrading all the way to 5.1.x.
So, I downloaded CM 12.1 by wilson3q with 5.1 system. I first tried the 5.0 version since the 5.1 looked too new, and did not have time to deal with the bugs. When I flashed the 5.0 version, I got errors of not being able to flash gapps for 5.0 and that I lost my root. I tried downloading the new TWRP to see if I can get a newer version that would work better, but no luck. I got an error saying that I lost my root privileges and did I want TWRP to fix it. I slid yes to fix, but no luck.
The same problem occurred when I tried with 5.1.
So, I ended up restoring my nandroid backup and I am back on 4.1.2 again with root working again.
I am thinking that I am probably supposed to 'step up' the updates, but not sure. Does anyone have a solution or a link to the solution that they can help with?
PS: I did not like the camera that came with the new mod. I do like the stock one. Are there flashes of cameras that I can use as well when I do end up upgrading?
Thank you in advance!!!

Try Phiz recovery, I've never had trouble with "[I605][CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch". If I recall we had to start using that one when kit-kat was released (i reserve the right to recall poorly)
I have a link to download mirror here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60899023&postcount=146
from your new recovery, you should be able to install CM12.1 and 5.1 gaaps recommended in the Wilson3Q i605 thread. from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-2-verizon/development/rom-unofficial-build-i605-t3069506
FWIW, I am on the 20150803 build and still using the GApps Minimal Edition 2015-04-04 for Android 5.1 (91 MB) from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/gapps-google-apps-minimal-edition-t2943330
with no issues to report.
You may also need to track down updated radios (to flash from CWM). I think you can find a link to the updated ND7 Modem/Baseband here:

PS you may want to flash superSU from recovery... get the zip from chainfire's xda thread here:

(I've been dirty flashing for so long I dont' remember if the rom came with SuperSU or superuser... as such I can't recall if I had to flash this zip or not, but I probably did if I had issues with root)
Note you may also need to enable root from the settings menu after enabling developer mode.
there should be a "root access" option (or somehting like that there)
PPS are you also remembering to wipe data & clear cache/dalvik?
I have found zoot's mega wipe useful...

I assume that you are giving steps in order, BUT I feel that I should flash the radio to 4.4.2 first, in which the link was broken. I have spent a couple hours trying to find another link, but I am afraid that I may be using an incorrect one. Do you have a good link for that, please?
Also, I have ready the newest Samsung 3.10 Odin downloaded and installed, as well as the USB driver installed and downloaded the ADB fastboot. If I remember correctly, I am supposed to move this onto C: and run it to access the device (Note 2). It has been since Android first came out since I have used the ADB though. So, I apologize for the ignorance. So, do I just make sure the adb is in the same directory and run Odin or did I not need ADB and just run Odin?
I also assume that I run the Philz touch after I have gotten to 4.4.2 rooted first. Am I correct by assuming that?

Yes, I have done a cache/dalvik wipe a few times (because I have tried reflashing to get it to work with no luck).
I have downloaded the .zip version of superSU as well, and gapps minimal 5.1 with wilson3q's 5.1 ROM. So, I am almost ready to go with the exception of the correct radio upgrade file.
Thank you so much for your help!!! Much appreciated!
PS Will my old WifiTether apk files still work with 5.1 or do I need to get a new one?
Thanks Again!

Just flash philz from twrp. Reboot recovery wipe/reset... then flash new ROM gaaps... Wipe/reset... Then reboot.
I can post the radio zip to my site later tonight. I believe you can flash that last, or later (from philz cwm, after getting on cm12.1)
Same as superSU. Check out ROM first. It comes with root that can be enabled in developer options. you can always reboot to recovery later and flash the zip.
PS. WiFi tether built into ROM "hotspot" (no VZW subscription required)
Pps try this for the nd7 radios

Sorry to bother you, but I still am getting errors with Failed root access for Titanium Backup Pro. I also cannot find Developer Options in the settings menu.
I have tried flashing the radio before and after wiping and installing the ROM then gapps then superSU. I get into superSU and it asks me for root access and I grant it, but Titanium Backup Pro still says that it has no root access.
Any ideas? Thank YOU!!

with SuperSU installed, you may need to just need to update binaries. open SuperSU and it should prompt you if necessary. the "normal" option should work (no need to flash from recovery)
for TiBu...
--within SuperSU settings you may need to disable (uncheck) "mount name separation".
--You may also have to enable unknown sources (under settings, security).
-- there might be something to enable for USB debugging as well (TIBU should prompt for it)
FWIW, you can restore user apps/data... but I would not attempt to restore any system data. Personally, I have found it best to get to know a fresh ROM for a while before trying to restore crap from an older ROM . there might be value in re-configuring apps manually and/or restoring them one at a time (after making sure the ROM is working properly) i.e. you won't need any of those aforementioned WiFi tether apps since it is built into the ROM now.
Instructions on enabling developer options in CM ROM, from here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_developer_options
1- In the Settings app, select About Phone (or About Tablet).
2- Scroll down, and tap the Build number entry seven times. On the seventh tap, you will be notified that "You are now a developer."
3- Return back to the main Settings menu. Developer options and Performance entries should now be visible.

(that is likely how to enable superuser that is "baked" into the rom, given you already installed SuperSU it may only complicate matters)
You may be rooted and just having TiBu issues. If all else fails you can check with an app. A long time ago, I've used "Simple Root Checker" by SimoneDev to check root/busybox. It is still in the play store.
Good Luck!

Thank you! It ended up being my version of Titanium Backup. I downloaded a new version and it is good. As far as restoring is concerned, I do not even want the apps themselves restored from there, because there may be a new version and would like a fresh install of those apps. I just want my data restored. For example, I have a surveillance software that I would just like to restore the entries (IP's usernames and passwords). I would like my email settings to be there, so that I do not have to re setup my 7 email addresses. My Text/SMS messages and my alarms. So, I am not trying to do a full restore.
On another note, I am trying to get my calendars back into my phone with no luck. I cannot install google calendar and get my google calendars to populate into my task widget, and the ROM is not letting me set up my POP email addresses. Also, I see no ringtones, so I have no ringers to ring my phone nor tones for my alarm clock. I flashed gapps for 5.1 and I see nothing extra from the ROM. I thought gapps was google apps. Am I trying to do stuff differently than you? There seems to be a few problems in that manner that I am trying to work with.
I am thinking of downgrading to 5.0. Maybe the 5.1 is too new?
Again, THANK YOU for your help!

I wouldn't downgrade, nobody is actively working on 5.0.2 anymore.... that thread is basically dead. Also, it is likely less "stable"/mature than what you have installed now (that is currently being maintained). i.e. you have the ROM that I would stick with.
like I said I wouldn't restore any thing into system (apps or data)... you can do whatever you please. (but it could be causing you more issues than just biting the bullet & configuring manually) i.e. restoring accounts might result in unanticipated issues, you came from a much older version of android.
all I had to do was install google calendar from play store and then the CM12 calendar stuff all worked (I might have had to restart and/or install the google calendar prior to setting up primary gmail). you might need to remove all your accounts and load them again (a factory reset might be faster though.)
also you might have to update google services and the play store before certain things "play nice".
I know you don't want to hear this but...
from here on out i'll likely point to all your issues being based on restoring system data. (based on my limited knowledge and personal experience). FWIW, I'd try to reconfigure/setup everything manually and you will likely have much better results.

I figured that, and feared that and the same time. So, what am I flashing onto the phone with gapps then? Also, one of the reasons I was wanting to go back was because there are a few apps that are not 'compatible' with this system. Meanwhile, I am going to wipe and reset again, and do what you suggested and just reconfigure.
Thanks again!

GAaps are the google apps... good read:
http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Google_Apps
(hopefully I am not out of line for posting a link to that wiki)
many ROMS like CM don't' include gaaps due to licencing/legal issues. which is why the AOSP roms devs often have you flash the GAAPS package separately (also you can pick your package for your fact pattern... full gaaps/minimal gaaps/etc.).
Also the gaaps zip files you flash from recovery install the files into system. a lot of folks like the minimal editions of GAaps because it doesn't force all the apps into system. instead it just gets you up and running with the play store and a few essentials... that lets the user install all the other google apps as user apps, from the play store.
basically taking the "debloat" mentality as far as you can... keep stuff out of system and let the user decide what to install.

CyanogenMod 13 Nightlies are now available for the Nexus 10

Hey all,
As I don't develop CyanogenMod or work for their team, I didn't think it'd be right to make a post in the Development sub-forum. Anyway, I came across a post over on Android Police stating that CM 13 Nightlies are now availble for 'manta'. I've downloaded the latest Nightlie and flashed it on my Nexus 10 along with the lastest Gapps, and everything works great. You can find the Nightlies here. All credit goes to the CyanogenMod team for keeping our Nexus 10 alive!
In my case the gapps are too big (even micro and nano) while pico gets successfully flashed but then Google Play Services crash all the time.
Did you flash the very first nightly from Jan 9?
I have the same issues: nano gapps too large for system, can't install this way... any solutions?
Edit: pico gapps work, no issues so far
I can't even install the pico gapps. Which package did you use OP?
Edit: Tried again with a full wipe and it worked using the pico-apps. Have had no crashes of any Google services so far. I used the latest CM nightly to flash.

I used the newer one both times. Only difference was full wipe.
I'm having zero luck on getting Google Play Services installed. Tried the nano, now the Pico. Same as above users, the install will go just fine but will give me crashes every second on screen.
I read here and there that this crash on CM13 (other devices) can also be caused by a) Privacy Guard settings for Google Play services, or b) allowing Google Play Services to access "Phone" and "Contacts" or something to that effect.
Still playing around trying to get this to install.......
Edit: Did a full wipe of everything, including System/Data, and it all works now. I'm all setup! I'm getting an error on Google "Now on Tap", saying "The app has stopped" everytime I try to use it. I remember seeing the fix somewhere about something in Accessibility settings. But I'm having no luck remembering what it was or finding the fix again.
DTB
Google play services were not working for me at first either. I decided to try and sideload the latest Google Play Services apk to see if would fix the problem. Thankfully, it did fix it. You can find the apk file here.
Install Opengapps nano or pico http://opengapps.org/ and full wipe before install.
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/127116/
Anyone tried enabling f2fs?
Good news, finally got "Now on Tap" working.
I went to settings. I searched for "Assist", and selected "Assist and Voice Input".
(I honestly can't find in the settings where it is, I can only find it by searching within settings.)
The "Assist App" was set to "Google App". I selected "None", then went back and set it to "Google App" again...and all was good!
So, looks like I am finally up and running. Another note; the Marshmallow apps restore didn't seem to restore for me. I even used my phone to setup my account, all was linked fine. It got my identity and set it, but did not restore any apps. Not a huge deal.

1GB RAM
I succesfully installed CM13 with Opengapps pico and its running very smooth so far. But in settings it's showing me that I only have 1GB of RAM instead of 2GB. Did anyone else notice this?
Edit: 1,1GB to be exact. Very strange.
Edit 2: I read in another thread that about 900MB is reserved for the GPU so that's probably why it is showing just 1,1GB for the system.
Hei, ref doing a full wipe, is that before doing the pico gapps install, and exactly what is meant by full wipe? Thanks

Yes before installing Pico. I did a wipe after too, just to be sure. A full wipe means cache and system/data. If you have TWRP a normal wipe includes all of this.

Does CM13 support loop device?
I need to run linux chroot (via linux deploy); that requires that the ROM supports loop device. Request to those who have successfully install CM13 on N10: Could you install the free app "loop device checker" and check to see if loop device is supported?
THANKS!
ps. This app is free and useful but it has annoying loud music; mute the speaker first
After installing CM13, my Nexus10's rotation doesn't work.
When I used stock lollipop, rotation worked perfectly.
Even if I update to the newest version, it's the same here. (cm-13.0-20160129-NIGHTLY-manta)
Does anyone have the same problem?

[GUIDE] install OpenGapps on Stock ROM (Chinese version, VIE-AL10C)

I have recently acquired a P9 Plus (Chinese Version) and one of the issues with all of the Android phones sold in China is that they don't have Google services (Google in banned in China because of its refusal to comply with the Chinese internet regulations). There are ways you can install bits and pieces from the Huawei app store but it would be difficult to get all of the Google services together. There are ways already posted on XDA where you can install contact sync and app store one by one, but to me downloading through apkmirror (or any other site) could be a risk since those are uploaded by anonymous users and unless you can decompile the code and try to understand what's in those, it would be difficult to know if the apk is or is not doing something that are not designed for.
This guide assumes that you have unlocked bootloader and installed TWRP on it. Also I am not sure if you need to root the phone (which is pretty much for free once you had TWRP installed) but I had my phone rooted by the time I installed OpenGapps, obviously during this process you would have got the ADB drivers installed.
This process will wipe all user data, so please make sure you do a backup on your phone first.
First step is to download the installer zip to PC (or to SD card, I didn't have a spare SD card so I just download directly to PC), go to http://opengapps.org/, choose ARM64 (I know it is not actually ARM processor but somehow this package works, may be ARM and Kirin have compatible instruction set? That will sure make custom ROM development a lot easier!), 6.0 for OS version and choose the package you would like to have. I used nano but I am sure for other packages would work too.
Now go to TWRP on your phone. If you have downloaded the installer on your SD card you can just do Install -> select the zip and flash. I downloaded to my PC so I have to use the Sideload route, basically go to Advanced -> ADB sideload and simply do adb sideload FILE_NAME.zip (replace FILE_NAME with the actual OpenGapps package name you have downloaded). After that I originally tried to wipe caches and simply reboot but that didn't work for me.
So here is the trick, you will need to wipe Data and Internal Storage as well. I know, this sounds crazy but this is how it worked for me. If you managed to get other combinations to work feel free to suggest here as well.
What I did was I went to Wipe -> Advanced Wipe wiped Cache/Dalvik Cache, Internal Storage and Data (i.e., check everything except System and Micro SDCard) and then did a wipe.
After that, Reboot -> System.
Now once you are done with the set up, you will be greeted with an "uglier" version of the original UI (no fancy gold color!), but guess what, you should be able to see Google Play Store and you should be able to add Google accounts in Settings -> accounts.
For some reason I noticed if you try to add Google accounts you seem to be able to add one only (may be I overlooked something) so what I did was I went to the GMail app then go to Settings -> Add Account and that allows me to add the other Google accounts. Once you add a Google account on the GMail app it should be visible in other Google apps (App Store/Movies/Games, for instance) as well.
Any questions/better ideas feel free to post them below.

I don't think locking does (at least with my experience in using the dload method), however if you want to unlock again later on it will wipe the phone. I'd recommend you to backup the phone before performing any of these actions though.

why is the dload not working in some instances? like on AL10, I cannot perform the dload update method, i have the latest update of emui 5.0 thats why i wanna re-lock then downgrade using hi-suit, then flash twrp and flash the updated version. it sucks,
but maybe you can help me on how to do the dload update.

Live without Gapp - FDroid, Yalp, microG at a LOS15.1

A word ahead, I am far away from beeing an expert. I read and tested a lot, but can't answer all your question.
Instead this thread is intended to share experiences as I spend quit some days to become my phone as free from Google.
I did this on a Galaxy A3 (2017) with LOS.
First of course is not to install Gapps. We can replace many of its functionality. First of all we need a store to download apps. I highly recommend FDroid as a first choise. You can download the app at their website.
With this you get a variety of apps for almost all, but not all problems. Nevertheless I recommend to take your time and check what is offered there, even if you used other apps before.
If you don't find an equivalent, you might want access the google playstore. In FDroid there are two apps available for this purpose. With both you can anonymously access all (not payed) apps on Playstore. You can of course login with your google accound, but ... ok, that's not so anonymous anymore
What else do we miss without Gapps. There is a way of receiving push notifications, that is often handled via GCM (google cloud messanging).
First of all we need to enable spoofing. This was quite a challange, as usual tools (tingle, ...) work with non-odexed ROMS, while that for A3 is an odexed ROM.
Finally I found a zip here, that works for me:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77456471&postcount=3775
Download that zip, goto TWRP.
Before installing it you have to do two steps.
Mount /system
Create a link (with advanced/terminal): ln -s /system/vendor /vendor
Otherwise install of this zip will fails. Be patient, it takes around 5..10min to pass.
Now we can work with microG, that will replace some google-APIs.
Add the repo "microg.org/fdroid/repo"
Then install micoG core, fakestore and proxy.
To get unifiedNLP running (this is for location services) the microG core must be a system app.
So do a reboot in the TWRP. Mount system first.
Than copy with integrated filemanager the folder com.google.android.gms-xxxx
from /data/app/
to
/system/priv-app
and reboot.
You will find in your app-overview the microG app - please open and let selftest run.
Enable permissions there and also disable battery optimisation
unifiedNlp should be registered. Next is to enable them.
Download from FDroid these two apps:
Local GSM Location (with this you can download a database of cell towers and their location, giving you a chance to get a rough estaimatin where you are, without waste of energy for GPS)
and
NominatimNlpBackend (to get your position as street/city/country instead of coordinates).
Very important:
Apps that require this gapps need to be installed after microG. Otherwise they will not work properly.
I guess that are usually apps that needs location.
Feedback for microG installation
I´ve tested your microG installation these days. Worked like a charm ! Thanks for your post.
The Nanodroid patcher referred in your link was gone, so i used http://downloads.nanolx.org/NanoDroid/Stable/NanoDroid-patcher-18.1.20180909.zip.
I had the same problems with Yalp downloads you´ve described earlier, after reboot it worked.
GCM works, but just not with Threema ;-( But it´s a known problem.
Getting NLP to work was a little bit of hassle, but I found many articles about it. Was not sure which of the backends to use, there are many.
What is interesting - I didn´t use encryption and patched the ashyx_no_encryption patch right after flashing LOS and I didn´t use SU or Magisk right now. Result: absolutely no boot loops and no reboot after power off !
From which stock variant you came ?
@cyberbix:
The patcher for spoofing was quite beta at that time. Did you have to do any preparations to let it run? I remember in TWRP I had to mount /system and create that /vendor-link. Is it still required? I reported my issued there but I am not sure he cooked it with these patches finally.
The Yalp issue is completely independent on microG. It seems that there is a bug in the Downloader of LOS15.1. There are others suffered from this issue, not just the A320FL. The workaround to use internal download works.
Can you give more details about the NLP-hassle? That might help others to not go that painful way. Imho all is fine if you copy (or move) the folder I described above and reboot.
About the backends ... I think there is no alternative for Nominatim, which works only online. For the cell bases location I prefer a offline solution, I found that "Local GSM Location". The microG-Packages usually contain the mozilla-online backend.
BTW: Did you use one of the zip-packages to install microGSMcore, fakestore, GsfProxy ... or manually via FDroid as I did?
I had latest Oreo 8.0 installed before. But I am not sure whether or not I updated the bootloader too with Odin.
@starbright_
Did you have to do any preparations to let it run?
Yes. I did exactly the same as you did in TWRP.
Can you give more details about the NLP-hassle?
I wasn´t sure if its needed at all and even if microG went green, the backends seemed not wo work at all.
BTW: Did you use one of the zip-packages to install microGSMcore, fakestore, GsfProxy ... or manually via FDroid as I did?
I did it in the same way as you. Flashed the patcher, installed the rest from FDroid. That´s it.
Moreover: i didn´t install Magisk or any other root and I didn´t use Xposed. I used the push notification tester to test GCM. Everything was fine.
I can check if installing an su package or Magisk will lead into the same problems.
Installed Magisk on top of your microG setup. Everything works, see McFys thread. I guess you just didn´t read what TB tells about SU.

My experience below:
-LOS by McFy with Magisk+Xposed+nanodroid
- installed only. MicroG package +all backends+yalp
- the self check is good except the last box which is noto green
-yalp works fine, i like it, but in the end i had to use my goggole account instread of the experimental 'internal account' and this because of gmaps
-gmaps works fine BUT it doesn't find the current gps position unless i restart it (long press on back arrow). This is odd because other map-apps (openstreet, tomtom..) work! Also, when i need to use the google account to save some locations or simply the offline maps, it does work only for the first time, later it doesn't recognize my (already set) googke account
-i don't know if it's related to microg but camera doesnt find the gps, while opencamera yes, fotej camera neither
-again, i don't know if it's related to microg but each time i add the google account i loose my contact list
-apps that need to talk with playstore doesn't work at all, I wanted to use Europe3D by geoflier and it didn't load properly until i installed also the playstore
- the same for those apps that need to purchase some addons
-BUT worst, above all (crying) is that the speechTotext is not wotking and it's a feature I really miss!
I don't know if a proper patched rom would work better, I always hope that mcFy finds some time to release the rom already patched.
Anyhow next days I will try to reinstall the stock rom to see if these behavioours happen also there.
I did another installation again. More details next.
But finally I gave up. I couldn't solve two issues
- neither telegram nor whatsapp works after a few minutes (doesn't wake up at incoming calls)
- heavy instabilities with LOS15.1/Magisk/Xposed/microG
I didn't find which component is responsible for that, but I remember that I didn't always get SU with Magisk. After a reboot it works again.
Even such components as DuckDuckbrowser crashed.
I couldn't recover my apps backup by TB from my previous S5mini on A3 with TB and Magisk (Parser error).
I need a rest from all this stuff.

So what is the sequence? This:
"-LOS by McFy with Magisk+Xposed+nanodroid
- installed only. MicroG package +all backends+yalp
- the self check is good except the last box which is noto green"
And it is stable for you? Never get problems with not granted root?
What is last box: cell based location? Same for me... But I am not sure what exactly means this.
I installed localGSMbackend which created an offline database with celltowers. This works fine in energy saving mode I get a rough position without any waste of energy or privacy (as offline).
Altogether I did at least 20 complete wipes and started from scratch.
At the first I started early with root (either Magisk or LOS-addsu).
Than there are two options to get a spoofed ROM.
Either via Xposed/Fakestore module or via nanodroid patcher.
Both works in general.
Than installed microG (different ways - manually, nanodroid, unofficial installer, that are the 3 options I know).
But it always become instable. Apps don't get root anymore or does FC ....
So I did it another way around.
I first installed all required via FDroid (without any root, Xposed ...). That seems to me rather stable. The good thing: this are around 80% or apps I need. Than I did a backup, so that I don't have to starts from scratch, which is painful as hell with around 40 .. 60 apps.
My last attempt was after that install Magisk, Xposed, Fakestore. Spoofingchecker was red, but a microG gets green.
I installed it with nanodroid (created first with setup wizard a file, so that only microG and mapsapiv1) gets installed.
This was first time my apps work fine with maps. Other attempts to manually install the maps framework/lib wasn't succesful (why ever).
Problems started when installing TB. First it doesn't get root permission. After a restart it works, but I get parsing errors. If I understand FAQ this is due to different busyboxes ?!? Ok, the backups I created at another device with LOS14.1 and addsu.
But this was not the only issue. Browser crashed and I never get neither Telegram nor Whatsapp to get wake up after a few minutes of deep sleep (they arn't get registered at microG too, so this might be another issue).
@pink0:
Did I understand it right, you use GMaps?
@cyberbix:
My problems with whatsapp and telegram (not registering in GCM) - did you found a way, maybe with an older version of whatsapp?
Does your system keeps stable after all?
To be honest, that Magisk and Xposed seems to add to much intrusive stuff that might fail altogether. But even with the manual way it wasn't perfect. Maybe after a rest and with the next version from McFy I try this again. Good luck I didn't sell my old S5min til now.

it's here i writed down because my personal memory buffer, at my age, is really small
yes gmaps is working quite good except the behavour I wrote, but enabling developer options I can easily kill the program to get the new/current position (also I noriced tgat because of this gps problem ir cannot calculate any route while navigating)
I also dislike the idea of using xposed bexause I never needed it but now it's different
about telegram/whatsup i'm not using such softwae so I can't say what's wrong

Yes, but I didn´t flash Xposed, just Magisk.
Ok.That spoofing can happen via Xposed Module or nanodroid patcher. For non-odexed ROMs are more options (tingle,...) but not for ours.
So after all I am now happy with my current installation:
- install TWRP via ODIN
- Wipe in TWRP (system, data, cache, dalvik)
- install Lineage via TWRP
- boot into system
- install FDroid
install and setup most of needed apps - there is a good selection of apps in FDroid now
- Create Backup (via TWRP)
- Install Magisk (viaTWRP) and Magisk Manager in LOS
- Setup adaware and afwall (both from FDroid as they need root)
- Installing microG (via TWRP) with packets from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-nanomod-5-0-20170405-microg-t3584928
( use patcher for spoofing the ROM, setup to create a control file and than a minimal setup with microG, maps-api, FakeStore).
- install Yalp from FDroid and via Yalp the missing apps that are not available via FDroid.
I found that Telegram (and Whatsapp not 100% sure yet) push-notification work. I disabled battery optimization for both.

thanks for your post!
- did you run the nanodroid patcher itself or you deodexed tje rom by hand?
- do you notice any difference between a magisk-through instlation of nanodroid and a direct one?

I am not sure, but the LOS15.1 for A3 2017 (by @McFy from 08/21) ROM is in a state you need the patcher. Other methods (as tingle - what I used before with other mobiles) don't work.
Not sure what is odexed and deodexed. The only other method works for spoofing is Xposed framework. There is a module that fakes this. But until now I did't see a need for Xposed and I don't want to increase complexity. (From that point of view I rather should go for addsu instead of Magisk)
I did first a Magisk installation, as root is more important and you have later the chance to chose between microG and Gapps. (Did it step by step with backups not to start again from scratch).
But I didn't use Magisk for installation, but TWRP. How does it works? I am a Magisk newbee.
An update of LOS15 requires to redo it. I also updated microG in this sequence. Just as a short summery:
- boot into TWRP
- wipes system/cache/dalvik
- installed new LOS
- installed Magisk
- reboot into system (just for curiosity, probably not required) and back to TWRP
- let run uninstaller of microG (I used the zips from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-nanomod-5-0-20170405-microg-t3584928)
- install (run) the patcher (be patients, that takes long time, maybe 15min)
- install (run) setup wizard (selected only few things, as maps-api, can remember exactly)
- install the real package (install what has been selected in setup).
check this out https://hackernoon.com/e-first-beta-soon-to-be-released-82d7ec950dd
basically, this is a LOS-based rom including microG, aiming at avoiding google applications/usage.

Nominatim backend
Has anyone using microG got the NominatimGeocoderBackend to work ? On the LOS15 or on LOS16 builds of McFy ? With Nanodroid or with microG core setup ?
The Self-Check in the microG Settings app on the LOS16-microG-build-20190412 with Nanodroid 20190310 from McFY fails the self-test "UnifiedNlp do not have Location to test Geocoder"
The NominatimGeocoderBackend is installed, activated and configured for OSM.
No big deal, everything else works fine.

My selfcheck gives just 2 unchecked points:
Playstore signature (I installed Fakestore+Yalp and Fdroid)
Radiocell based location (altough Nominatem is setup).
"Playstore signature" I could manage after apply permission spoofing to Fake Store (system app).
But, I don't get any app registered, although I have enabled Google registration and GCM.
I even deinstalled ebay and installed it again - no effect. ?!? What can I do?
I remember @cyberbix mentioned the Push notification tester:

Thank you very much for posting this. I'll definitely be checking it out. Your Proton kernel is quite good already. Interested to see how the ROM functions too.
Really appreciate you building and sharing this for us!
I saw in the P5 thread that it may be possible to get call screening to work if the dialer gets systemized. It's a feature that has really come in handy for me so just want to confirm it will get call screening working.
To confirm, I just need to put GoogleDialer.apk into product/priv-app?
Alternatively, could I just use something like Titanium backup to make it a system app?
TIA

microG is supported on the non-gapps build, not included. The gapps build includes full gapps.
Thank you for awesome rom, big plus for microg support. Will flash as soon as my Bramble arrives.
did flash all. now google logo, then a fire with beaker on screen.
edit: nevermind...guess that was the loading screen. took a few minutes. didn't seem like a "loading screen"
I am new to ADB AS my old phone used TWRP. Do I need to unlock the bootloader? Is it recommented to Start Form stock ROM, because I am currently on LineageOS? It is MicroG ready, does it mean that install MicroG via F-Droid, or do I install it like it is drscribed there at the Installation instructions?

It is MicroG ready, does it mean that install MicroG via F-Droid, or do I install it like it is drscribed there at the Installation instructions?

You do need to unlock the bootloader. Switching from LineageOS should work, but you will need to wipe data as always.
microG should be installed from F-Droid after installing the ROM.

Thank you very much. I flashed it and it rebooted directly to the OS. Afterwards I installed your Kernel. The OS feels fast, but in comparison to Lineage for the same Phone, it feels slower. If you swipe for the action center, it is very slow and laggy. If you swipe for task manager and swipe through the recent apps, it lags. Are there any similar experiences?

The lag in those specific locations is caused by the frosted glass blur effect. Disable it in developer options if you want to trade it off for performance instead. The blur performance problems should be addressed in future versions.

Thank you for your reply. I am looking forward to a new release. For now I stick to LOS. Could you tell me the procedure for updating your ROM? Is it possible to dirty flash the update, so I don't need to backup my data externally?

To confirm, I just need to put GoogleDialer.apk into product/priv-app?
Alternatively, could I just use something like Titanium backup to make it a system app?

Check out the magisk module systemizer, it's pretty good. I think you're right about all that.

I tried to use Magisk Systemizer and Titanium Backup to move this into a system app, but there's not enough free space in what I'm assuming is the system partition (Titanium Backup just labels it the "System ROM").
I tried to uninstall some of the system apps using Titanium Backup and SD Maid Pro but both failed to be able to remove any "expendable" system apps.

Yes, you can dirty flash updates to my ROM. Clean flashes are only necessary when switching from another ROM.

With dynamic partitions, the system partition is perfectly sized to hold exactly the amount of data the ROM has in it, so there will always be no free space. You need to use Magisk to systemize apps.

Dynamically sized partitions explains the "no free space" (and it makes total sense to layout the system partition this way). I was trying to use Magisk Systemize, took me revisiting it to realize that I didn't have Busybox installed. Installing the Magisk BusyBox module enabled me to Systemize the Phone app. Many thanks!
