Phone rooted but can't edit or overwrite system files - Realme 6 Questions & Answers

Hey i just rooted my phone. And I wanted to replace system files. I downloaded ES File Explorer, gave it the Root access and tried to edit a system file. But it won't allow me to. I even tried to modify read/write permissions but that was also denied. Tell what to do ?

If you are in stock Realmeme UI, then yes, you can't!

I heard somewhere that I could install custom rom which could allow me to edit those files. Is that true ?

Yes, with custom ROMs, almost system is rw, so you can make changes. But my suggestion is that you should know exactly what r u doing with it, since making changes on system is not a safe thing when u not sure.

Hi is this true? there is no way?
I got same problem: can root by Magisk & installed TWRP on stock firmware but I cant edit/overwrite system files
So is there any way?

you need to extract system.img file
long process
i think you should apply whole backup
system.img extracted,, whats next ?
making full backup restore will again take phone FW back to JB,, so i guess saving it as last resort.

MOD - Enable Call Recording on S5 Lollipop ( only S5 International)

Hello guys, this morning I changed the file contents in /Root/System/Csc/Others.xml and added the ability to enable CallRecording in Rom Stock Android 5.0.
Need to have a Stock Rom with Root, a File Manager go to System / CSC and rename the file in Others.xml Others.xml.old, then copy the file attached here and change permissions in RW-RR, restart. On restart you will magically enabled CallRecording.
It works perfectly!
I am not responsible for any changes that you will make in your device.
See you soon ..... Appearance some developer to update Xposed framework compatible with Lollipop .... Thanks
And how does this feature works? I mean there will be a new button or so in the caller?
Thanks!

MOD - Enabling Call Recording on Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500
I tried the same thing with my Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 on Stock ROM 5.0.1 with firmware [I9500XXUHOA7_I9500SERHOA7_SER]
I used the following method
1. Browsed to root/System/CSC and copied the others.xml file to my PC
2. Modified the file with <CscFeature_VoiceCall_ConfigRecording>RecordingAllowed</CscFeature_VoiceCall_ConfigRecording>
3. Saved the file and copied it back to the root/System/CSC folder using ES Root Explorer.
4. Restarted and voila...
Hope it works for you all. I have attached the file for your reference. Extract the file using WinRAR.
NOTE:
1. You must take a backup of Others.xml if any thing goes wrong.
2. I am not responsible for any changes that you will make in your device.

Yes indeed. However, in order to access the file(others.xml) ROOT access is required. So the phone must be ROOTed.
In order to gain something(CALL RECORDING) we have to sacrifice phone warranty. But dont worry. If you get into warranty issues then prior to claiming your warranty, you can used ODIN to restore to stock firmware.

Gr8. But would be nice if you share as to how and using what you implemented the non-tripping method.
If you can share the steps, then I would gladly include your steps and modify the others.xml accordingly.

I don't know if you understanded me, I meant a ROOT method without tripping Knox, I don't know a way of applying this mod without root... But anyway, to root without tripping knox:
Well for KitKat the easiest method is to downgrade to an old 4.4.2 firmware and root with towelroot which doesn't trips knox, then if you want to stay in KK, you can flash a newer version of it through Mobile Odin Pro, using the "keep root" option, which also won't trip knox...
And if you want to install stock lollipop rooted without tripping knox you have to flash @_alexndr Lollipop DevBase from a rooted KitKat rom with Mobile Odin Pro too...
Obviously you can't flash any custom recoveries on it because this will definitely trip knox.
I'll leave links regarding this procedures...

Hello guys just a tip ... If for some reason the above mod is not working (like me) then you should do the above procedure but use the feature.xml file and it will definitely work!!!

[Q] Roms structure

Hello!
Can someone explain to me what differences are between these roms? (see attachements):
I have MT6755 device and it's stock ROM has inside a boot.img, system.new.dat, system.patch, META-INF, etc..
And then I found a device which ROM has inside just boot.img, META-INF and system folder.
What's the difference?
If I want to port a custom rom, does my device need to have in a custom rom these files(system.new.dat, system.patch...) too, or can I use a "structure" of the ROM zip with just boot.img and system?
As far as i know You just need only System, boot.img and meta-inf also data if you wish to add an app as user

So if I want to port a ROM from device that has (system.new.dat, etc..), I need only to extract system.new.dat to get system folder and just use it?

[Testers] Moto Display "breathing"

Hello,
I'm coming from moto z threads and I'm trying to find a solution as regards as the MotoDisplay breathing issue (display fades in and out so you 're always in the know) . I changed the script of our common Moto_Display_06.071.4_.apk update in order to enable the option of breathing mode. So, I need some root testers to install the link's .apk. At the below link you will find my modded .apk file.
