You need a unlocked bootloader or it goes into crash dump

Long story short.
Unlocked bootloader.
A flag enabled through adb.
Another flag enabled to force the GSI to persist through reboots.

Correction, you only need to add lines through adb if your bootloader isn't already unlocked.

What line do we need to type?

Can't get Bootloader Unlock permission!!!

Hello everyone,
I applied for permission to unlock my RN3(kenzo) bootloader around 3 weeks back, and still haven't got any message from Xiaomi. I tried going on without it, but the MiFlash unlock tool can't verify my device (after 50% progress it displays this message). Now I can't even seem to apply again for this permission. This is what happens :
I click the 'Unlock Now' button on this page:
http://en.miui.com/unlock/
And instead of applying for unlock permission page it takes me to this page :
http://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html
Where I can only download the MiFlash tool.
I have been trying this for days now but it can't seem to work.
Utterly frustrated, I have came to seek help on this forum. Hope you guys can help me get over this hurdle.
Regards.

Yeah it is. I previously used a MOTO X 2014 (MOTO G 2013 before that) and unlocking bootloader was a breeze there. Took a maximum of 5 mins, and I thought it'd be same for this device. But, oh boy!!! Xiaomi really test your patience.
Anyways thanks a lot for this. Will give it a go too.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/method-miui-8-unlock-bootloader-twrp-t3529458
easiest, fastest and safest method (works for kenzo/kate):
prerequisite:
MIUI 8 Global Developer ROM 6.9.29
ZCX TWRP
Mi Flash 6.8.30
1) Download 6.9.29 fastboot MIUI ROM
2) Extract and replace recovery.img (in images folder) with ZCX TWRP.
3) Flash using Mi Flash (in EDL mode)
4) After finished flashing process unplug and press [volume up]+[power] until Mi logo shows up then release buttons and it boots to TWRP
5) Backup, reboot to system and accept that TWRP disable/overwrite standard recovery
6) Boot to MIUI. (important step)
7) Finished!!
Now you have access to TWRP and can flash custom roms and kernels with locked bootloader.
No need to unlock bootloader anymore!

Maybe this will help you. I was having a lot of trouble too unlocking the bootloader as mi flas tool would never go past 50%. What I did was :
1) Apllied for unlock permission (that you've already done).
2) Downloaded mi flash tool and tried unlocking with it(that failed obviously)
3) Logged into Mi Cloud at i.mi.com
4) Checked connected devices, there were two there. You gotta Delete the one that's not Redmi Note 3, and make sure redmi note 3 is online.
5) Now you go to Settings>Additional Settings >Developer Options >Mi unlock status, and bind the account there for unlocking.
6) Goto i.mi.com and click on someting like 'Find my phone'. It'll be there.
7) Now if it can find your phone and tell its location, then you're good to go. (This step is important I guess)
8) Go ahead and try unlocking your phone with Mi flashtool.
I hope this works for you(worked for me though).
If you can't unlock via this method there are a few unofficial unlocking methods or you could contact Xiaomi and they will correct your data on their server side and you should be good to go.

Well you're right doing it. All this bootloader unlock charade is getting ridiculous now. I mean Xiaomi should learn from Motorola, their phones too come with locked bootloaders and unlocking them is a breeze(unless you use a carrier branded one).
Maybe it was just a good day for me that my BL got unlocked
Same here unlock always redirect to download page mi unlock tools or what ever ****!? Cant apply permission... Try another account, not help.

How I rooted my Huawei P10 late 2018 (cost €4)

Here's just a quick guide of how I just successfully rooted my P10 (from android nougat)
Use this file (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1c1iQBvvP7zTUiKz5PZmlJUH5DKBxxC3L)
It has everything you need inside in one package. (I havent anything to do with the development of any of the tools, this is just my compilement of them)
1. BACK UP
Back up everything you can on you phone to your pc
2.Drivers
Easiest was is to install Huawei's HuSuite otherwise do a manual driver install
3.Get bootloader unlock code
This will cost 4eur but is now the only way to get the code since Huawei stopped providing the codes. I can verify DC unlocker are legit, their tools are scary powerful and well worth the cost. Follow the below tutorial for this.
https://www.dc-unlocker.com/how-to-read-huawei-bootloader-unlock-code
4.Unlock the bootloader
On the phone enable developer mode (look this up its easy) and enable usb debugging and oem unlock. Then plug the phone into your pc and run cmd.exe inside the set folder. Enter the command without quotes "adb reboot bootloader". This will restart the phone in bootloader mode. Next enter the command "fastboot oem unlock CODE" with your code that you got from dc unlocker. This will restart the phone from factory so you will need to do a quick set up and enable developer settings and usb debigging again.
5. Installing custom recovery
Enter the bootloader mode again with "adb reboot bootloader". Then from the bootloader mode enter the command "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-vtr.img" this will install twrp recovery.
6. Installing Magisk root
Copy the zip file Magisk-v17.1.zip onto an sd card and insert into the phone.
Restart the phone into system again and use "adb reboot recovery". This will start the phone into twrp recovery mode. From here go to install, navigate to the zip and install it.
7.Finishing
Then boot the phone and Magisk manager should be installed on your now rooted phone for managing you super user and root.
Any questions or help needed message me, or my email is in my set folder.
@Jyndon use MEGA or zip files and attach it to the thread. People won't download from this, since they need premium feature to download folder.
Yeah bro I need it plz

I think we are out of luck I was just asked for 30 euros to get the bootloader unlocked as I am also on 8.0
On DC-Unlocker page it says:
Huawei P10 VTR-xxx upgraded to Android 8x not supported
Huawei P10 plus VKY-xxx upgraded to Android 8x not supported
Not sure if downgrading and then unlocking would make sense...

it's possible downgrading to previous version or to Nougat without unlocking bootloader first? Pheraps you mean forcing update via microsd slot?

Here is what I know so far:
1. You do not necessary to be on Nougat to unlock the bootloader, you should be able to unlock it if your firmware is before June patch
2. If you are on firmware after June patch, you would first need to rollback/downgrade to pre June firmware by finding previous firmware
3. Rolling back from after June patch to previous firmware might brick your phone
Currently, I did not find a way to unlock the bootloader on C654B327 as I cannot find any pre June firmware for my branding (C654) and rebranding to some other (C432) cannot be done without unlocked bootloader. And so far I did not hear of anyone downgrading and unlocking from C654B327 so I am a bit afraid I could brick my phone.
Guess I will wait and see if there are any good news in the future...

I was on nougat when I wrote this guide. Maybe try rolling back to android 7.0 to get the bootloader code then upgrade again after. To do this I'm assuming you might be able to use some dload method perhaps.

True, if he hasn't latest security patch installed. With patch from Dec 2018 it seems that Huawei introduced something new so you can't roll back even with dload method

In that case you could always send an email to DC to see if they are working to update it to work for 8.0. They seem pretty helpful and responsive from when I've contacted them before so I'm sure they might be able to offer some information.

hi,
I tought so but I did downgrading with HiSuite and then locked all requirements for DC Unlocker and I've got my bootloader unlock code now to do anything !!!!
It took a while and lot of nerves but at the end you should do step by step all points which was mentioned in the begining of this thread.
in case of dc-unlocker problems try to use other usb port (other than usually you use for connecting the phone to computer)

This video don´t show how to lock bootloader so the essential part is missed, maybe the guy is talking about but most of users won´t understand what he says and is not reflected on the options that he is using.
If you want to lock bootloader using MiFlashTool then at time to flash a stock rom you have to check on "Clean All and Lock" option down at the right in the tool.
Locking bootloader can´t never brick device by itself, the problem is that some users tried to do it using a custom rom, a custom recovery, rooted or with a cross-firmware that was not released originally in the device and happened that after device was locked again then refuses to boot to android system so bootloader detects that some partition/s was/were altered.
If you only unlocked bootloader and you are using all stock and non rooted you can relock it without need of use mi flash but using only the typical fastboot command
Code:
fastboot oem lock
then check if it was correct with
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
BUT never try to lock it of this way if some non-stock file was flashed and currently using on your device be custom rom, custom recovery, root, logo, custom kernel, etc.

you cant lock bootloader if you firmware was originally chinese and you have changed to global..
if your firmware was global and you unlocked , yes you can lock it again using flashtool and oficial GLOBAL fastboot rom, developer or stable..:good:
Hello, I've been trying to unlock my Mi8 Lite for a while (bootloader) but it is always stuck at 50% on MiUnlock, I've tried multiple drivers and disabling driver signature in Windows 10. It never gets beyond that point and always shows a '-1' error. Did anyone encounter this or better yet solved it? I've searched many times on Google and Youtube but with no success.
I had requested an unlock from Xiaomi and disabled all my other devices from my account.
Any help would be appreciated as this has become unnecessarily complicated, Thanks!

Yes, I had the same issue and got it solved by using Mi Unlock on another PC. My main PC is using AMD Ryzen 2700 CPU, my laptop Intel Core i7-4712HQ. Wasted like 2 hours on my PC, while it worked first try on my laptop. Please note, the software told me to now wait 360 hours - it didn't unlock right away (this looks like expected behavior).

Please read:
GSIs status + boot dump
Hello, Here is the status as of few days ago. So most of Phh-based GSI should have the same status, just pick whichever you want. What works: - Backlight control works (requires "Force alternative backlight scale" in Treble Settings => Misc) -...

Hello, I used it but it does not work on my nord 2.
FAILED (remote: 'Unrecognized command flashing unlock')
fastboot: error: Command failed
fastboot version eac51f2bb6a8-android
I installed the correct driver for mediatek oneplus bootloader. The OEM unlock in the settings is enabled and I have no pin or password.

Maybe will help if write about your ROM version, your OS version and your fastboot executable versión.
I faced sometimes problems with usb3 port, too. Used other with usb2.
Sure, last adb and fastboot 1.4. oos 12.1 dn2103_11_c.10
Also my computer does not have 2.0 ports it has 4 usb 3.2 and 1 thunderbolt 4

OOS 12.1 dn2103_11_c.10 lacks fastbootd as per all post I read, neither BROM mode to use mtk client.
So once on this version you cannot do nothing with your phone. Just stock.
You can downgrade to A11 or A12_C01, unlock and then update. I didn't myself. Stuck with A11 for now.
Please check the forum post here and will find how to downgrade and the problems with the C10 update.
adb and fastboot 1.4 is not the problem, but I updated my installation with latest executables from Google platform tools to stay up to date.
The USB 3.0 support seems that is not problem anymore. Was few years ago.
Hope helped. Luck.

Question [DN2103] OxygenOS 12 Open Beta 2 - Wanting A Custom ROM. No way to go back to Android11?

I flashed OxygenOS 12 Open Beta 1 and updated to 2 when it released. I'm desperate for a custom ROM so I tried going to fastboot mode. Instantly going back to OxygenOS.
I tried the rollback package but it wouldnt work. I tried mtkclient on Windows 11. Detecting but taking too much to connect. It says waiting for some VCOM thing.
ok, as long as I can understand tou should try to go on fastboot by using the tool with cmd (I don't know if it has compatibility issues with windows11).
other than that in a week the phone will arrive at my place and the first thing I will do is unlock bootloader and probably flash AncientOS because of OOS12's lack of problems.

The problem is that if I do 'adb reboot sideload' it gives me a fastboot_unlock_check fail or somethingand then reboots

adb sideload isn't that reccomended if you have to flash stock, you should do 'adb reboot fastboot' or 'adb reboot bootloader' and then follow this thread to flash the version you prefer:
Oneplus Nord 2 Oxygen 11.3 DN2103 EEA ROM
Flash at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage or data loss to the device during this process! Downloads: The Fastboot restoration file can be downloaded in here: DN2103_11_A.07 DN2103_11_A.10 *deleted DN2103_11_A.11 *deleted...

I'm suspecting Windows 11 is interfering with UsbDK? It didnt exist when the last usbdk update released

but it's strange, if you unlocked already the bootloader, "oppo's roms" shouldn't block you to flash anything else, the bootloader relock could be a thing (you should tell me if when you reboot your phone it gives you a 3/5 seconds splash that tells you the bootloader is unlocked) if not you should try to do again the same steps you did to unlock bootloader as ex novo

You don't know fastbootmode is broken on oos 12 so you can't go back to oos 11
Till OnePlus gives us downgrade package or update with fastbootmode fixed.
So stop l discussions about that has no clue

Here's a question for ya. Why the **** did you install the INDIAN ONLY beta on your EU device? It clearly tells you that you'll **** up your phone if you do it and won't be able to roll back. And here you are complaining that you can't roll back. You should have waited for the EU beta or stable which ISN'T AVAILABLE YET.

What do you have to be rude for? Android 11 wasn't working good for me and I thought it will work better. + that fastboot is disabled for everyone and if I manage to go back then I can share everything because I'm not the only one.
