Need to factory reset my Redmi Note 5 but TWRP recovery prevents me. - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

I've had my Redmi Note 5 in storage for a couple of years and want to resurrect it with factory reset original settings; in essence, a clean wipe/restore to when I first got the phone. TWRP is apparently installed and when I try to factory reset from within MIUI and the phone itself I get bounced to TWRP recovery. It's been a few years since I installed TWRP recovery and rooted my phone so I've forgotten a lot. I just want a simple factory reset of MIUI and my phone with all previous apps I've installed gone and data wiped and have the the ability to do OTA updates so I can update to the latest stable MIUI. What's the simplest way to do this?

Redmi note 3(SD) TWRP recovery

How to get ota update after installing TWRP recovery on my Redmi note 3(SD)? Help please.
First time I was received an incremental update, it always failed, rebooted phone and received a second full rom update. Then I copied it to external sd card, booted into twrp, done a nandroid backup fellowed by flashing rom , superSU and exposed in one single flashed, wiped cache and dalvik cache then rebooted phone with success.

In earlier versions of stock miui Roms(dev or stable) it was posible to get ota updates if you installed custom recovery and also installed su(rooted your rnm3). But now new ota's includes codes for checking for integeity of portions whether it is tempered with or not so now it is not possible until any sr developers find s a solution. For every new update you have to install full rom package each time.

TWRP encryption issue. Please help me to save phone data.

I wanted to do an update from xiaomi.eu MIUI 9.5.X ROM to MIUI 10 on my wife's Mi Note 3. Unfortunately, I run into encryption troubles. Here are the steps I did:
1. Booted to preinstalled TWRP (I think it was 3.0.2) and did a full backup. Unfortunatelly I only saved to internal phone storage :crying:
2. Wiped Dalvik+Cache
3. Tried to install MIUI 10 Stable but got some errors in TWRP (remember it saying Error 7). Tried to wipe System as well but didn't help.
4. I updated TWRP to 3.1.1. and then managed to successfully install MIUI 10 version. First boot went OK.
Because I wiped System in TWRP I lost all app settings. My idea was to proceed with a restore from a full 9.5.X backup and then repeat the update to MIUI 10 without wiping in order to keep all applications etc.
5. So I booted again to TWRP 3.1.1 and did a restore from a backup.
After the reboot following message appeared: ''Encryption was interrupted and can't complete. As a result, the data on your phone is no longer accessible. To resume using your phone you need to perform a factory reset....''. In TWRP I can't access any files on internal storage - it shows 0 MB.
Can you please explain to me why this happened? Is it somehow related to TWRP update after performing a backup? I know that the solution is to format data in TWRP but I would like to avoid it. Is there any way of saving phone's data?? Does it make sense to try flashing MIUI 10 ROM via USB-OTG?
Any help would be highly appreciated. We really don't want to lose photos of our little baby from last holidays.
Thank you.

Yotaphone 3 Factory Encrypted

I have got myself a Yotaphone 3 Chinese/English 128GB version but it came encrypted and a factory reset does not clear the encryption.
Because of this I have had no success in installing TWRP to root the device so I can fix some of the niggley problems such as installed apps not notifying until manually started.
Does anyone know if the phone can be rooted or flashed while encrypted?

MTK phone refuses to wipe/format/flash anything or even be bricked.

Its my daughters bog standard, cheap chinese MTK6580 phone (uhappy up580 if it matters)
It came with stock 5.0 a few years back so I flashed TWRP, rooted it, ported a CRdroid 5.1 rom for it and was working fine. Yesterday on boot every app refused to start, or stopped, or froze including stock launcher and settings so I couldnt do anything at all. Booted to TWRP and wiped cache and dalvik but although TWRP said completed, it hadnt.
So decided to wipe EVERYTHING including data and again TWRP said it had but upon reboot the faulty rom was still there, not working.
Tried to flash a backup that ended in tar error, fixed that and it flashed the backup fine, rebooted but it hadnt.
Tried to TWRP flash a new rom, said it had but it hadnt,
Used SPFlash tools to flash the stock 5.0 rom, THAT said it completed after the usual time and procedure, rebooted but it hadnt
Used SPFlash tools to completely format and wipe the phone which also said it had completed but it hadnt.
I CANNOT wipe this phone using any method I know of! or install or flash anything! Just this same custom rom that was fine for years and just went wrong. Does ANYONE know how I can somehow wipe this phone or flash a new rom? Tried flashing a TWRP with SP tools AND a TWRP .img and they all said completed but obviously, nothing did.... I've accidently bricked phones easier than I can deliberately wipe this one
Any help greatly appreciated.

Cant recover my TWRP backups

I am having an issue with TWRP TWRP 3.3.1-18 at the moment and wonder what I am doing wrong. I backed up my Oneplus 6 in February then the phone offered my a system updat at the weekend which I accepted. I later went to use Titanium backup then realised I had lost roots rights due to the update so I reflashed (TWRP if I remember) and Magisk, however the phone got stuck in the bootloop where 2 white dots were spinning around a red circle. After searching and trying one thing after another I resolved it by using the msm download tool. So thats the first issue and i dont know what caused it. Onto the TWRP issue. After the phone was recovered and all the updates to Android 10 was accepted and bootloader unlocked, TWRP and Magisk 20.5 flashed, I restored my February backup which is possibly Android 9. When I rebooted I was then in a fastboot loop. I again restored using the MSM tool and tried again, the same happened. The next time I first backed up the new Android 10 system after the update then tried to restore the February backup one last time (cleared the dalvik and factory reset) but had the same issue so after restoring one more time I instead tried to restore the new nandroid backup and have the same issues. Can anyone suggest why this is happening with my TWRP backups?
