Looking for a few privacy focused app alternatives to a few app - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know, it's an oxymoron for some of these apps/services, but unfortunately, I need them for business purposes. I am seeing many out-of-date apps and posts about this topic and wondered if anyone has any current suggestions.
I'm using Aurora Store, Aurora Droid, and Hermit. Hermit isn't always a great solution if I need to be in an app multiple times a day and I need to receive notifications. I will continue to use Hermit for apps that I only have to log into periodically, like Banks apps, but the experience isn't always the best if I'm in apps multiple times a day.
- Gmail - Migrated to ProtonMail, but still using FairMail to access Gmail
- Twitter - Hermit is an option, but I wouldn't mind testing some apps.
- Facebook - Currently using Hermit, but I think an app may work better.
- Instagram - Same ^
- What's App - I have it installed on another phone using a VoIP phone number but have WhatsApp Web To Go installed on my Android Phone. If there is another Privacy/Open Source alternative, I would like to try it.
- Telegram - Nekogram X
- Discord - Aliucord (I haven't tried it, but I will)

FB etc, you can't clean up a social and disinformation liability except by not participating or viewing.
You don't play the game, it plays you.

Voice command application roundup

While waiting for the on-board voice command app from Google bundled with Jelly Bean, I thought I'd check out the other apps out there currently in the Play store and here is my totally unscientific report.
I tried to come up with a list of queries that someone would use often, along with some fluff commands just to see what would happen. Your mileage may vary using any of the apps of course.
Assistant turned out to be the winner, followed closely by Jeannie, although it really could have gone either way since Assistant does things Jeannie can't do and Jeannie does things Assistant can't do.
Some other notes not mentioned in the sheet:
* Facebook integration was only partially tested because most of the "successful" results required their own custom FB app to be installed to your FB account. I didn't feel like cluttering up my FB, so I didn't completely follow through.
* I don't use Twitter, so this functionality wasn't tested. Many of the apps do mention Twitter in their respective pages in the store though.
* Some apps work directly with Evernote, some work directly with Tasker. I don't have either of these apps, so testing external app support such as this wasn't done.
I found many voice command apps in the store, but I'm sure I missed some. If so, please be sure to point them out and I'll add them to the list.
As updates to the various apps are released, I will update the report.

CPU Sleeper Quad Core - Since we have Quad Core CPUs, we have a CPU 0 and a CPU1/2/3, core 0,1,2,3 while the screen is off we really only need to have 1 core active "CPU0", this App will make sure CPU 1/2/3 shuts off while the screen is off, then resumes normal usage when the screen comes back on.(You need to pay for this app)
I thought cpu sleeper is not needed for htc one x+ cause the tegra 3 already done that automaticly

My favorite messaging app is "hike".
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bsb.hike&hl=de
I use it instead of WhatsApp, because I feel it secures my data more than WhatsApp.
It isn't very popular atm, but I think it's an real alternative to WhatsApp.

[Q] ToDO App with Sync - Suggestion

I was researching for a good todo/GTD app. After trying a couple, I couldn't find one that would satisfy my needs. Hence, seeing opinion of you folks. Here are some of the features we would require:
1. Free.
2. Support for Projects.
3. Reminder (date/time).
4. Recurring tasks.
5. Sync to some chrome extension or web app that would give a fair view of all the project/tasks and their status along with ability to quickly add projects/tasks.
So far I have DGT GTD seems to be a good app. However, it syncs with Toodledo.com which does not support projects in free mode.

[Q] Can I stop Twitter from doing this?

1st things 1st - My device: Verizon S4 Root/Safestrap/Eclipse/Titanium Pro
Is there a way to not allow this to be done without uninstalling the TweetCaster app? I checked in the app's settings and I don't see any way to stop or not allow updates. I do have Google Play's settings at "Do not auto-update apps" - would this be sufficient? Or may Twitter go behind everyone's back and do this independently through their app and bypass Google Play? I do not want Twitter to be able to identify what apps I have or otherwise have access to my S4 to "target ads" to me.
Please note I Do Not have the Twitter app, I have TweetCaster (if it's different than the Twitter app? I don't know?) I heard facebook was doing this same BS & people deleted the app (I Do Not use FB) and am looking for a way to not allow Twitter to do this (if there is a way to). Thanks (I don't believe the last line below)
>>From Wired.com, Nov 26th<<
Twitter Plans to Peek at Your Apps to Serve You Targeted Ads
Twitter will soon identify the other apps on your phone in an effort to personalize your experience on its service—i.e. serve you targeted ads.
The company discusses the move on its website, and according to the news site Re/code, this sort of tracking will begin with a new version of its iPhone app, set to roll out on Wednesday. A new Android version that works in much the same way will roll out over the next week.
Now a public company, Twitter is exploring many different ways to boost its revenue, and one method is through better targeted ads. The company already has some personal information about those using its service—what they type into their Twitter profiles and the tweets they post—but now, it wants more. “To help build a more personal Twitter experience for you, we are collecting and occasionally updating the list of apps installed on your mobile device so we can deliver tailored content that you might be interested in,” the company says.
In this way, it’s following the lead of Facebook and Google and so many others that seek to target ads. The difference is that Twitter doesn’t have access to nearly as much personal data as Facebook, which inherently encourages users to provide information about themselves, or Google, which operates a wide range of services atop its own mobile OS. So Twitter is reaching out into other parts of the phone, something that is easy to do. The Apple/Google mobile OSes provide ready access to information like this & many apps take advantage of this—some going much further than others.
Twitter says it will point users to its new data policy, via an in-app notification, before it starts collecting any personal information. But the new update is opt-out, which means that in order for the company to stop gathering data on your account, you must explicitly turn this data collection off. But few users are likely to do so.

I think Tweetcaster is a third party application just like Falcon doesn't have anything to do with the default twitter app. .Or you can just see if that option is listed their within the Tweetcaster application to opt out of it.

Alternatives to Google's Services

Recently I've come to realize I use a fair number of Google's services, in addition to Android. I think I need to diversify a bit. If there aren't any decent alternatives, I'll stick with Google for that specific app, but I'd like to explore my options. I'm particularly partial to open source software, and I wouldn't mind a developer/suite that handles a couple of these together. So far I've switched to (but still willing to accept suggestions):
Search - DuckDuckGo
Browser - Mozilla Firefox
Storage - Dropbox, Box
Now, I'm looking for:
Email-
Maps -
Calendar -
Notes -
I'm not interested in switching to any of Microsoft's services, either. Windows is enough for them.
Thank you.
I know what you mean. A bit of variation is a good thing.
Maps: I particularly like Maps.me. For browser-based, try http://www.openstreetmap.org/
Email: A great open source app is K9 Mail.
Notes: I generally take all my notes in DroidEdit(There's a free version too) and ColorNote. If you need more functionality, Evernote is an option.
Calendar: Try Cal.
Thanks. I appreciate it.
For email, I'm also looking for a free, basic service in addition to a client app.
Sorry, it looks like I originally posted this in the wrong sub-forum.
Regarding free email services, what do you have to say about:
Zoho
GMX
Mail.com
Inbox.com
Thanks.
Sorry to keep bringing this up, but how about email from:
Autistici/Inventati
Riseup
e-mail - yandex

Thank you.
