General System update to 61.0.A.14.3 - Sony Xperia 1 III

Updated this morning (in UK) to 61.0.A.14.3 from 61.0.A.11.92
287.4 MB
Usual 3 stage installation procedure, with long uninformative wait for Stage 3 to complete.
Installed and running with no issues. No evident changelog and I haven't yet spotted any changes.
EDIT It has the September security update, which is good.

And probably nothing else.
Just copy paste of code from google.
Did you spot any difference for fingerprint scanner? It was working much better before .92

I found fingerprint continued to work fine with .92 and seems exactly the same with this latest update.

I updated to 14.3 today and scanner seems to work a bit better than .92

Updated this morning and everything appears to be working the same as before. Before .92 I think the FP scanner was a little too sensitive and works better since .92. As for this latest .3 update it might be a little better than it was with .92 without being too sensitive. So to me it appears as if Sony is really trying to get things right for this their latest flagship. Kudos to them!

Ditto here. 1080p option gone.
What a ****in joke this update was. The only thing that changed was they took away that 1080p option when we all have a 1080p phone.

Get fingerprint working on US version?

Apologies in advance for noobish questions...
I bought an unlocked Z5C (US version) at Best Buy a few weeks ago, and have been happy with the phone, even though the fingerprint sensor has been disabled for the US.
I had been hoping for the possibility that when 6.0 was released for the phone, because of the new framework having more fingerprint-related libraries baked in, that the sensor would be enabled. No such luck.
So, my question is, how easy/difficult would it be to somehow enable the fingerprint sensor on the US version of the Z5 Compact?
I've never really gotten too deep into rooting, building, etc., but I am a software developer, so I'd be comfortable with development tools, build environments, modules, etc., but I just don't know where to start with something so specific, having never done it for this platform before.
I'd have to think that there would be some way to do a custom build, either importing fingerprint libraries into a US build, or importing US radio libraries into an international build that has the sensor enabled, or some combination like that?
I'm really just looking for someone to hopefully point me in a direction to try to do this. If there's already a solution, even better, but I'm not holding my breath for that one.
Thanks in advance for any info!

Im not positive but I thought both versions have different hardware. If so then the us would not have it?

My understanding was that the hardware is still present in the US version, but it was disabled for legal reasons. Could be wrong though.

Quick update...
I finally got a chance to mess with this over the weekend. There is not yet a Custom UK E5823 release for MM, so I tried copying the files from another MM non-us release, and it didn't appear to work. However, I did go and revert back to Lollipop with the latest available UK release, and can at least confirm that the fingerprint hardware is indeed present, as the fingerprint manager then showed up, and the sensor worked. I went back to the latest E5803 Custom US Marshmallow, and will wait until MM is available for UK, and try to copy those files and rebuild again then.
Interesting... that is good to know. It seems that we could buy the US version to get the warranty, then just flash an international firmware to unlock all the functionality. And hopefully down the road, do the mash-up firmware for the best of both worlds!
I'm just surprised they disabled the sensor in the US, especially with the sensor still present in the phone!
Another update...
I tried copying the files from a few other MM builds and repackaging, but none allowed the fingerprint sensor to work on my phone.
However, since people in some other threads had been talking about the Nordic Combined version of firmware, I figured I'd give that a shot without any modifications. And... everything works!
So just to reiterate, I have a US version of the Z5 Compact (E5803, purchased at Best Buy), and updated with the Nordic Combined firmware (1298-7782, Customized NOBA, 32.1.A.1.163/R9C) with no modifications, and everything works perfectly on my phone (registered on T-Mobile), including the fingerprint scanner.
The phone now reports itself as E5823 instead of E5803, but I can live with that!
Fantastic work!

I don't have a US model but an international model, running on Nordic using att and have no issues other than signal bars displaying less signal than i have. I'll show no bars at the same db rating my other phone shows 2 bars. No big deal phone still works fine.

Yeah, I noticed the signal meter reading lower than it should on the Nordic firmware on US T-Mobile. Getting 20Mbps on 4G with no bars is fine with me.
Amazing news for US version owners

You don't have volte though right?
---------- Post added at 11:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:20 AM ----------
Sony phones have always reported lower signal than actually present. No idea why
Possible to revert back?
This is great news. Is it possible to revert back to make it report as the right model for warranty purposes?
Of corse, just flash back US firmaware and it'll be ok.
just flashed "customized uk" version and got my US z5c fingerprint reader up and running. wonder what, if any, issues might arise from running a firmware for a different model, e5823 vs. e5803.
this thing is nice, but man , it does get pretty hot in the back top center. yowza.

Z3v GPS

Has anyone else noticed frequent GPS issues with the new 5.1.1 update? My D6708 either sees GPS satellites and can't triangulate, or it can't see any. I've reset the agps settings and tried all of the GPS fix apps on the play store, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions?
Yes, have noticed it since the update, both of our phones do it, only thing we have done to get it to work is restart the phone, will work for a while then stop again.

I've noticed it happen even after I restart the phone several times. I just downgraded back to kitkat, so hopefully that fixes the problem until Sony or the community releases a patch.

I don't think reverting back to KitKat will be with the trouble. 5.1.1 is the possibly the latest and only thing the Z3v will ever get.

Yeah don't see MM coming or any other patches from VZW or Sony.
I am just killing time with this phone (Z3v) until all the accessories get here so I can start using my BB Priv.
I also noticed this recently. It was the first time I had really used GPS since the latest update. I thought it might be related to having to reattach the back cover due to separation but now it appears it's a more general issue.

I reverted back to kitkat, and I'm still having issues with the GPS. I'm pretty sure that the problem is hardware related, so I'm going to have to just wait until my Verizon contract is up. I've read a few articles online with the GPS issues of the Z3 models in general. I'm thinking that it might have just been one of the areas they cut corners on. If anyone has a fix in mind, I'm open to try anything at this point.

EMUI 9 update

any reasons to update? I had a hell of a time unlocking the bootloader and rooting it. I would imagine it would be difficult to update.
I love the table as is...but of course wondering if i would like it even better on EMUI 9.
I like the update so far except for one thing I've noticed which is actually the reason I came to the message board. Ever since I updated I can't connect to any 5ghz WiFi networks.im hoping its a bug fixed in the next security patch. I read about the same thing happening to other Huawei phonesmbut it doesn't fixed. Other than that I noticed that apps load faster and the battery seems a bit better but that's about it. Anything you want me to check for you?

thanks i get crazy battery life right now, i can let its sit for days and it will lose under .2% per hour. probably not worth the trouble. the 5ghz works right now on 8. I actually dont mind emui, its a nice change from my other tablets running lineage or touchwiz

yes, but i had to first downgrade the firmware and then pay for the unlock code from funky huawei, i rooted with magisk. its a pita.
I currently have 4 other tablets, all samsung right now. They were all easier to root, but i love the hardware and 16:9 screens on this tablet.

So you used the Magisk protocol where you need to boot to recovery instead of booting to system whenever you reboot...... or turn the tablet on..... to have it rooted on EMUI 9?

Same problem here. I have the 8" LTE model, unrooted and with locked bootloader. I was with stock EMUI 8 but I just updated to the official firmware sht-al09 9.0.1.161(c636e2r1p2) via eRecovery and now WiFi 5ghz does not work.
Also the dark mode from Android Pie is not available.
Another reason not to update is the bright background notifications bar. I cannot stand it and it seems not configurable. Instaling a dark theme does not help, it remains white.

yeah same here can link to 5 ghz network fine. Im on the wifi only version if that makes a difference. Unfortunately not rooted or unlocked. My biggest regret buying this tablet. But only because I like playing.

Sounds like it might be a bug then? I can't imagine Huawei intentialy disabling support for 5ghz. I'll wait for the May security patch to see if it gets fixed.
