Question What method - Moto G Power (2021)

Can someone please point me to the current or most stable/safest method to root/rom this device if possible..is over locking possible? I'm getting confused which method if any to use some say twrp is unusable but I see rom threads so it must be possible..please excuse my noobery..I've rooted and toned plenty of devices but it seems it was much easier back then. Thank you so much. I plan to use the device as an emulation station to play NES, SNES, SEGA, PSX1, PSP, are all working decent so is Dolphin with GameCube games but I want to try and overclock and see if I squeeze more performance to emulate WII and PS2 better then what I'm currently getting.

Webtop Questions

Some ROM's don't come with Webtop so I need to install it in order to get the Webtop HDMI hack to work, that I know, but does the HDMI mirroring work without having Webtop installed at all? Like do I just connect my phone to my TV and it automatically mirrors it? Also, am I able to have the Webtop HDMI hack and HDMI mirroring both on my phone, i.e. they don't conflict with one another? Finally, does HDMI mirroring allow me to play emulators like N64oid and Fpse without lagging like the Webtop HDMI hack does? If anyone can answer even one of these questions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That doesn't help. Just like your post in my other thread so maybe common sense should be your friend.

Wow you're dumb. Never do I ask how to uninstall Webtop. Please stop replying to my threads to keep yourself from further embarrassment.
webtop over hdmi. and why i feel dumb and embarassed? you're asking questions that are a few clicks away and digressing over the fact you didn't do your homework. hello search bar.

I'm talking about the HACK in my other post, not Webtop all together. See you posted again and embarrassed yourself again.
Im not talking about uninstalling webtop.

Then why don't you make yourself useful and show me these links to these threads instead of sitting all high and mighty a top your search engine throne?
No thrones here. Just search bars. Hdmi mirroring is no go in landscape. Emulators work. So does lag. If you want to play a fast paced game mario or racing you're probably not going to do so well. If you like rpgs or slower paced game you're good to go.

Thank you very much. That's much more helpful. And yes I'm more into RPG's.
I'm playing ff5 on snes emulator. It's slightly choppy. It's good to go though. I hope chrono trigger works well since it's more on the action side of things. Super punch out is unplayable. I haven't tried super mario world. Mario kart i want to try again, but i think it's not going to play so well. I couldn't drive worth a damn and mario kart isn't that hard or fast paced.

Are you playing those games through HDMI mirroring? Just wanna make sure.
no. webtop over hdmi and lapdock. i haven't tried hdmi mirroring. don't even know if it works on my phone. i just found out i limited my webtop settings because i had phoneportal froze. oh yeah. if i remember correctly, when you do webtop over hdmi on hdtv, try lower resolutions if allowed. i just thought of that and wonder if that might help performance. i believe most emulators should display 480i since that was native resolution for most games. psx games i believe are that way with exception of a few.

I'll try and lower the resolution, but I'm gonna try HDMI mirroring. I recently read that it lets you play at full speed, but I've yet to test it out.
hdmi mirroring should allow better framerates most games. i wouldn't expect miracles though. i don't even know if the emulators are using the gpu. and remember it's just mobile processors. emulators are a little more taxing than mobile processors in laptops.

PSX4Droid

Anyone able to get PSX4Droid to work on your NC with CM7?
You're better off with FPSE, much better emulator with a lot more updates.
Thanks. I was trying psx4droid because it was free. But $$ isn't hard to swallow if the games I want to play work properly.
I can guarantee that both versions of PsxDroid V1-V2 both work on the .29 kernel. I can guarantee the same thing for FPSE on .29.
Whether or not they work on .32, I'm not 100% sure. Normally I would just say that they should, but considering the recent incompatabilities with certain emulators, I wouldn't want to give you false information.
Im interested in doing this! but, Do i need BIOS or can i load straight eboots with or without the keys.bin. I have about 30 games i made from scratch (iso) to psx format eboots.(for psp) wondering if those work.
I'd have to check, but pretty sure you need the ISO's and Bios for both emulators. What's more, PSX4droid is ridiculously picky and needs very "clean roms." So certain games even when ripped from the original disc may not work.
Oh wow, Thats lame. Iso's are usually huge. Eboots are the compressed version. Have to grab that psp program for converting Isos to Eboots. Let me know if you have anything hosted. I'll try a few rips first.
Yeah, I know what Eboots are, lol. I've been actively playing JRpgs on my PSP lately. The nook does a good job of playing PSX Games, but it's far less portable when you have to consider a stand and a controller to make it okay for gameplay.
Granted, the On Screen Buttons work, but they work to the extent that all the other emulators work, just well enough...

Best Emulation apps

What apps does everyone here think are the best for the Prime? Since this is going to have enough juice for gaming, I want to try some of my old faves. I have not used any in Android before, any useful tips would be much appreciated. Thanks
I recently installed (on TF101) Emulator ROMs with a large portfolio of ROMs to download and SNesoid - both work great. (Emulator ROMs allows downloading ROMs for SNesoid)
I also had aDosBox (or sth similar) once for DOS games.
There is also an Amiga emulator but it was subpar from what I remember, and I don't know the exact name.
SNesoid is great for SNES games and allows saving game (made playing Lost Vikings and Lost Vikings II so much less frustrating ). It works great with keyboard but you need to setup the keys first.
Gameboid, and n64oid and nesoid all work great.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
Edit: they aren't in the market though, so get them from SlideME or Google them
snesoid is hands down the best !
i like scummvm, get to play old adventure games like day of the tentacle, sam and max, etc.
GemRB! = Planescape Torment (best rpg game ever!) and rest blackisile games like BG 1&2 or IWD 1&2.

Any PS2/PS2 emulators?
Sadly the prime doesn't have the hardware to support this. However, there is a Ps1 emulator available.

the prime has enough juice/power to easily do PS2 games. there just isn't a PS2 emulator available yet because this the first time a device been released that could push those specs or more. Shadowgun tegra3 version easily has better graphics than any ps2 game ever released. Prime power is in-between an Xbox(more powerful than a ps2) and a ps3(not quite there yet but close. prime produces some amazing videos to almost rival it). I would love to see a ps2 or Xbox emulator pop up for Tegra3 devices/Prime.
even the dual core tegra2 has games that rival ps2 or look better. Tegra3 is a whole lot more powerful than tegra2. CPU wise and Gpu wise. don't underestimate the prime and tegra3. some game developers already said it'll be very easy to port PC games to tegra3 without any loss on graphics quality or speed. some games already on tegra3 use exact same visuals as PC counterpart. developer said this makes it easy for them to make games for more than one platform in parallel. not having to worry about dumbing down anything.

just finished playing Bloody Roar 2 on my Prime with FPse emulator . works great.
Einhander is a classic n plays really good also. about to download Marvel vs. Capcom and play that ;-)
FPse by far the best PlayStation emulator hands down. plays just as if I'm really playing on PlayStation. tinkering around with system and video settings in game will help game look and play even better. still messing around seeing what does what.

happy new year! they all run n look great on Prime. yeah those psx roms are huge..lol won't take too many to fill up prime memory if you get carried away..lol
Do you use a BT remote like the wii remote with your emulators? Is an additional program like wiimote needed for a wii controller to work? Asus information about the prime makes it sound like no other software is needed to get a wii, ps3, or xbox remote to work. It is all built in.

But to emulate a device you need a lot, a lot of CPU power, more than the original device had. I doubt Tegra3 is enough for this task. I hope I'm wrong.

I also use the ..oid emulators. They play great, but I can't seem to get the Wii remote to work correctly on the prime. The button mapping doesn't register to the game, instead, it registers the button push to Google search, or to the file explorer where the game is stored.Weird.
I've downloaded bluezime, wiimote and Wii controller from the market with the same result.
Anyone else have this issue?
GenPlusDroid works great for SEGA games! If you uncheck "Maintain Aspect Ratio" it will go fullscreen. I ordered the Joystick-it joystick for my Prime too, should be good.

Even my PC has problems with PS2 emulation and it is considered an enthusiast computer.
Core i7 920 OC'd to 3.6GHz from 2.66GHz
18GB of DDR3-1600 CAS-9 RAM
Two GeForce GTX 460s 1GB in SLI
Three 500GB WD 7,200 RPM HDDs in RAID-0
Even with that I have problems with PS2 emulation.
About PS2 Emulation
As a general rule of thumb you need 4x the speed of the hardware you are trying to emulate.
I read about emulator for very old, very slow game console that was slow on 3Ghz processor because it was very precisely emulating everything. For most things you don't need that precission but sometimes games don't work on amulators because of that.

[Q]Optimal settings for FPSE (Playstation Emulator)?

Hey guys, this is probably a noob question but it's been a long week.
I've got fpse on my phone and I want to play playstation games with it. However, the game keeps hopping between 40fps and 20fps. I know that's nonsense because I could get it steady at 60fps on both my old galaxy tab 10.1 and my epic touch.
So, my question is, what are the optimal settings that I need to enable/disable in order to get 60fps. I know the processor can handle it, lesser processors already have.
Thanks

Change frameskip to auto. But my suggestion is get a ps1. I've grown to loathe emulation, especially on phones. Touch controls suck and I know about using a ps3 controller.
It still sucks and looks weird playing games that won't work right because its emulated and on a tiny screen. Yes you can use the media link or mhl, but if your going through all that trouble why not get the console and hook it up. The cost of all that jazz is more expensive than the actual system plus games anyway.
Sent from my Genesis that does what Nintendon't

Hahaha thank you for your response. The frameskip did most of the work...changing my governor to something other than "conservative" did the rest.
Happily, I actually already have a MHL cable (I use my phone to watch live hockey games...when there isn't a lockout) and a PS3 controller, so I actually do use it as a console. My gf has a PS1 and has a few fun games for it, but I just enough the experience. I do have to play on mute, because sound never seems to work right.

A Weird and Specific Question/Problem

I bought the Motorola Razr just for using with Wi-fi. I wanted something compact and portable but also powerful that I could use to snap photos, listen to music, watch videos, and last but not least, use the Robert Broglia emulators to play games on a TV with my friend when I visit him.
The problem is that the Robert Broglia emulators (MD.emu, Snes9X ex, etc.) all seem to have a jitter problem (most noticeable on fast moving games) on this device which I have never seen on any other device I have had. And yes, I am aware there are other emulators available, but Gensoid has really bad audio and I have never found any emulators that run as nice as the Broglia ones. So switching emulators is not a good option for me, or at least one that I am not willing to entertain.
I contacted Robert and he tried some things but basically the conclusion was that the combination of the stock OS and his emulators was creating a timing problem that caused the jitter. I did try a custom rom and MD.emu ran with the normal smoothness that I had come to expect, but of course the rom I tried did not support HDMI.
So basically I am just reaching out to see if anyone has any ideas on what I can do about this. I want to be able to use the Broglia emulators and still have HDMI output. There may very well be no solution to this, but I thought it couldn't hurt to try.
Thanks.
Here's the funny outcome, I bought one of those JXD S5110 devices, the emulators run great on that. Goes to show you that more power in a device doesn't mean better performance if software is conflicting.
