Question Missing or hidden features? - Google Pixel 6

I got my Pixel 6 Pro yesterday and opened it up today and a few things initially that are driving me crazy. I cant change the app drawer to 4x5 or 5x5 or the home screen. I found how but the options are not there. Also, how do I get rid of the massive clock on the lock screen to show a normal clock?

Hi @GrandMstrBud
You can change to 5x5 home app grid by
long pressing the screen,
select 'Wallpaper and Style',
scroll down and select App Grid - to select your choice
Just to confirm I have the Pixel 6 (non pro)

I found out how that option is just not there. I went to my classic Nova launcher for this

Sorry - that is weird...I just assumed 6 and 6 Pro would have the same basic features...

If you transferred your stuff from another phone it may have bugged out and need to clear cache/data to fix the problem.

The only fix for this for now is to have a persistent notification running. That will reduce the clock size and move the clock to the upper left corner. I use Today Weather for that. The Persistent Notifications app works too.
Hopefully Google will add the option to resize the lockscreen clock in a future update. I hate it too.

Apparently there are some new Tasker projects that tackle this "issue". You can read more about it here: https://www.xda-developers.com/tasker-can-help-you-change-the-size-of-android-12s-aod-clock/

Myself and my uncle had the same issues with our P6P. The option to change the grid didnt show up. We discovered that for some reason Nova launcher was messing with this option. Deleting Nova from the phone and rebooting and this option should appear. Not sure why this is happening with Nova installed.

Strange, I do have the option. It's not just that you didn't scroll down?

When I got the Pixel 6, that option wasn't there either. I checked again the next day and only then did I find it. I think I started the device once in between.
Edit:
As mentioned before: I had Nova installed on an other device, which was transferred to Pixel 6. Maybe I fixed it with deleting Nova.
Maybe I got it after the november update was installed.

I don't have/cannot find the NFC quick settings switch....

Changing Lock screen shortcuts

I must be missing because I can't find where the option is to change them. Looked in personalize/lock screen
Sent from my EVO LTE
I think the stock sense lockscreen is trash. Check out widgetlocker on the google store. I had this installed on the old evo, and reinstalled on here. I have ~15 shortcuts on my lock screen. Most of the apps I use all the time.

I'm fine using the stock one just want to put the camera app on it, but can't find where I would change that.

This is a big maybe since I only played with it for about 2 minutes before getting widget locker installed. I believe the lock screen icons mimic the same icons present at the dock when not locked. So if you add a camera down there, it should show up in the lock screen too.

I think it automatically puts whatever apps are in the dock of the default sense launcher on the lockscreen. I am using GoLauncher, but I changed the apps in the default launcher and they now show up on the lock screen.

Thanks That was it. I don't like that, it should have an option to put what you want even if its different than the dock.

I was just having this same problem and found this thread in my search. All my shortcuts were right except for one and I could not for the life of me figure out why. No matter what I changed it would not change. Soon as I read this post I switched back to the default launcher, changed that dock shortcut, changed back to ADW launcher and Bam! Problem solved! Thanks!

So, by this reasoning...you could go to the stock launcher, put 4 things in the dock...change back to ADW and change the dock and keep the lockscreen icons?
EDIT: Yup...sweet.

Yes AS LONG AS you don't kill off Sense launcher because upon reboot since the stock launcher doesn't run, the lockscreen cannot read the icons. So you can but you'd be wasting resources by having two launchers run at the same time.

Help: NOVA launcher vertical bar on home screen

Hello,
I am using NOVA launcher on my Galaxy S-5. I have just two home screens set in the app. I see this vertical bar with 4 sections on far right when I am on the 2nd page of the home screen. I see the same bar on left hand side of the screen when I am on the 1st page of home screen.Any ideas how can I remove this?
Thanks in advance...
Not sure that's a Nova thing... Been using Nova for a couple years and have never seen it do that with any amount of screens. I've played with about every setting under the hood and can't think of one that would do that. It's not the wallpaper or a app sidebar launcher?
Thanks for your reply!
Actually, I figured it out. As soon as I changed the wallpaper to something else from the NOVA setttings, it disappeared! So I am guessing its some kind of themed wallpaper that comes with Nova launcher which tells you when you are at first or last page of the home screen.

[Q] CM12 change launcher

I'm currently on the latest nightly for cm12 (18th Feb) and I can't seem to find a setting to change the default launcher and I'm just stuck with trebuchet. On my nexus 5 there is a home setting under personalisation. Am I missing something or has this functionality not been implemented on the nexus 9 yet?

Hi, qwerty2626...
It shouldn't be too difficult to change the default launcher.... All you have to do is clear the default setting.
Go to SETTINGS>>APPS>>
** scroll horizontally to the ALL TAB
** scroll down to locate the TREBUCHET launcher
** tap on it to ENTER
** tap on the CLEAR DEFAULTS button
Press the HOME button, and you should be presented with a list of all your installed launchers.
Select the one you want to make the new default.
See attached screenshots, for an example of clearing Nova Launcher as the default launcher.
---
Or alternatively, install Default App Manager Lite, from Google PlayStore...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appiator.defaultappmanager
This app lists all of your app default settings, and provides an easy way of changing them.
Hope this helps.

Since when is Trebuncha(sp?) back? I litterly just left cm12 on the nexus 6 to try another rom and the only launcher that was installed on there before I put on nova as just the native launcher that motorola use. Its just called launcher.

Hi, the_rooter...
I have no idea if Trebuchet is back or not... I'm not running CM12... I was just giving some general guidance to the OP on how the default launcher can be changed. And since the OP mentioned Trebuchet, I just assumed it was still part of CM.

I dont think it is. Thats one of the main reasons I only test cm12 to see if they bring it back. Trebuchet has so many great features and now they use the launcher apk and its empty. Like we stated nothing that a custom launcher can do but still. Its sad to see that Trebuchet is not around.
Edit: Below is the article to state that it was in fact removed from cm12.

I've tried to do this and when I go into the app details there are no defaults on the launcher or at least None that can be cleared, even the app you posted can't do it either. I guess cyanogenmod did this on purpose for whatever reason so I guess I'll just have to wait and see if they implement a way to change it. As for trebuchet taking another look I don't think it is, just assumed it was after using cyanogenmod for so long!

How to hide apps?

Hi, i am aware that hidden applications menu gone with Emui 8.
When you are using home screen with app drawer option, is there a way to hide apps or even lock app drawer with fingerprint?
Use this app. It allows you to enable the hidden app menu gesture again.

Yes. That screenshot was from my phone. Hidden app gesture works fine on my Mate 10. I installed the app from the app store so try that and not the pc tool.
Ok, thank you very much @tboy2000, i will try with app from play store then.
One more quick question pls; hidden application menu can be used with homescreen drawer style also or only available with standart (all icons on homescreen) style?

It works with my all icons homescreen. I haven't tried it with drawer style. That's for you to try.

I've tried both, and hiding apps only seems to work on the standard home screen. I can't figure out how to hide (if it even is possible) in the drawer style...
Double post
I am totally with you, i am coming from 3 years old phone and i was able to do it easily.
At least, i wish i had an option to lock app drawer with fingerprint etc...
I dont think it differs anything but using Mate 10 or Pro? @jk1992

I have the Mate 10 Pro
Use Nova Launcher (I use Prime version...worth every small penny) and you can hide apps in drawer.
This worked for me after a few tries (did enable option in tweaker tool, but may not be needed) :

Wallpaper scrolling

Hi It's officially a week that I've had my Oneplus 7T Pro. So far loving it, had some hiccups rooting and found out there's no working Twrp for us yet but was able to Root through Magisk.
Ok down to the matter does anybody no how to disable the wallpaper scrolling ? I really find it annoying and all my other phones in settings you're able to do it so far no luck with the OnePlus unless I'm blind. I've read that in order to do that you need to use another launcher like Nova.
I did, it worked but I liked to have that function on OnePlus Launcher cause to transition from app drawer to notification I can just swipe up and down, on Nova I have to from the very top for notification and for app drawer I have to swipe from the arrow. Anybody else experiencing this? Any help would be appreciated thanks. Never Settle Peace.

There's no option to disable wallpaper scrolling on stock launcher. But you can add gestures in Nova to support swipe down for notification panel and swipe up for app drawer

For the Wallpaper scrolling thing, if you select an image the correct dimensions for just one screen, I think it stays where it is. Only when you have wider images does it paginate I think.
