Gps on latest vegan rom

I have put the latest vegan rom (I think its 5.1) and I'm not sure if its accesing the gps in the unit, it worked when I had cm 7 but now it doesn't, is there a fix for it?
Also, does tikl require an actual phone radio to work? When I open it pops up if unsupported country code
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
There is no GPS in the Gtab. Some ROMs will get a location from your wifi node, but many do not. You can use a bluetooth GPS and the Blue GPS APP. Search there are several threads.
Oh ok that makes sense, what exactly does the g sensor do?
g sensor is an accelerometer used to sense angular movement of tablet
I seem to be getting some gps from cyanmod 7 just in case you want to try it, just make sure you wipe data/reset, then wipe cache and load the rom then the gapps at the same time one after another then let the rom load, seems to work for me.

You are getting WiFi location services in CM7, not GPS signal.

No, tetherGPS works on Vegan 5.1 as I use it frequently. In that case it's not the ROM that is giving you GPS it's tetherGPS (which doesn't need bluetooth connectivity for GPS anyway).
CM7 offers WiFi location services so you get a similar to GPS feature though not nearly as accurate and not always available (depending on the WiFi network you are attaching too).
Well for some reason I have to connect both wifi and bluetooth to my iphone while using cyanmod 7 to get real time gps. I tried tetherGPS on Vegan 5.1 and it never worked? How did you get it to work specifically? Please explain your process because just downloading the app on Vegan is not only what it takes as it never worked for me? Thank you!

Motorola Droid. Droid is runing TetherGPS in server mode and Gtablet (VEGAn 5.1.1) was running TetherGPS in client mode.
Phone and Tablet were on same WiFi network (or Tablet was tethered to Phone if no WiFi network available).
Darn it, is there a gps service apk similar for the iphone that you know of?

[Q] Hotspot

Hi there! I have a tablet with a 3g dongle and i want to turn it into a hotspot for my phone. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a built in hotspot function. Are there any apps that can turn it into a mobile hotspot?

Adding WiFi to the LG G Watch

Is there any way to equip the LG G Watch with WiFi, like the Samsung Gear Live. I have read that the G Watch lacks WiFi because it does not have a WiFi antenna. Can a WiFi antenna be added to the watch? Or, what about connecting the G Watch to a WiFi chip via Bluetooth? Would any of these work? Thanks!
i dont think so, wifi has to be built in on the rom, a simple bluetooth wifi wont work, but modifying hardware may work but its more difficult.

@Jaocagomez Thanks for your help. How would I add WiFi into the rom programmatically? Also, what would the hardware modifications be like? Also, couldn't I create an app/client that uses a WiFi chip attached by bluetooth to update notifications? Thanks!
You would need to add the drivers built specifically for the Android kernel. The ROM would need to be built with WiFi support enabled in Android (which currently I believe is impossible as you cannot procure the source code to Android Wear atm). A Bluetooth WiFi adapter would not work because Android wouldn't know how to deal with it at all, The reason that the GWR was able to enable WiFi was because support was already built into Android as it was part of their hardware base. It was simply missing the drivers for the kernel.

Also the Wear app on the phone wouldn't allow the watch to use WiFi, as the model doesn't have it as a standard.

It probably would actually, I've been given the option to use Cloud Sync my gWatch connected.

I saw it there also, but someone said it just broke the connection with the watch and required to do a Factory reset. Read it sometime last year, when WiFi for Wear rolled out.
The watch contains no WiFi radio so obviously it cannot use wifi. The only wireless technology it uses is Bluetooth 4.1 LE.

[App][4.0+][NoRoot] ReverseTethering NoRoot

Hi,
I was constantly annoyed by the poor wifi signal when I had my devices connected to the computer, so I wondered why I could not use my computer's Internet connection on the Android devices when they were already connected via a USB cable. Extensive Google searches only showed solutions that would not work at all or required the Android device to be rooted. That's when I decided to develop my own solution:
ReverseTethering NoRoot allows you to share your computer's Internet connection with your Android device via a USB cable.
Use Android apps that require Internet in places where you don't have or are not allowed to have a wireless Internet connection!
Your Android device's Internet connection is slow and unstable? You've your Android device already connected to your computer for charging, file syncing or app debugging? Why not use your computer's fast, stable Internet connection on your Android device?.
Features:
Use your computer's Internet connection on your Android device
Works with Mac, Windows and Linux
Works on all Android versions starting from 4.0
NO root needed
Easy set-up, no messing around with tons of command lines
The only way to have wired Internet on devices that do not support Ethernet
There is also a pro version with these additional features:
Connections longer than 10 minutes per 30 minutes
Get rid of the ads

PRO Version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floriandraschbacher.reversetethering.pro
Please keep in mind that this is the very first version of the application. There will be issues. Please report them below and I'll give my best to fix them as soon as possible. The app was tested on Android 4.1, 4.2 and 6.0, but it should work on all devices running Android versions 4.0 and above.:fingers-crossed:
Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions! Any feedback is highly appreciated !
I just released version 1.0.1 with these changes:
Improved speed on older devices
Bug fixes
Great
looks cool , gonna check it

Hi,
Thanks for your feedback
As I've mentioned in the app description, some apps do not recognize ReverseTethering's connection because they only look for a Wifi or 3G connection. This is not an issue of ReverseTethering, but of those third-party apps. If you want to use ReverseTethering with such a third-party app, please contact the respective author of the third-party app.
As a side note: This incompatibility of some third-party app is nothing specific to ReverseTethering NoRoot, but applies to all reverse tethering solutions.
Thanks for the app.I will give it a try and send you my feedback.

Hi!
Is the server program running? Does it say it detected the device?
This app works fine on Android ICS. I am able to access full internet. I managed to download apps from google play . There is an Xposed module (HackserviceConnectivity) which fools the apps that they are connected to wifi or mobile network. Device needs to be rooted though. But I cant tether the tethered internet. I need to tether he tethered internet via WiFi tether but it is not working. unable to access the internet. Any idea?
please give me a link to download reverse tethering server application,as the program needs this running in windows.

On my Galaxy Note 8 (JB 4.1) and Galaxy S4 (JB 4.3), sharing the reverse tethered connection via wifi tethering worked. Please note I switched the device to offline mode, then connected reverse tethering, then started wifi tethering. For starting wifi tethering, I used my app FastFileTransfer (link in my signature), because the System UI does not allow enabling wifi tethering when in offline mode. Being in offline mode might have been essential, so just try if it helps.

The windows program is available here: http://fdmobileinventions.blogspot.com/p/reversetethering-server.html. Let me know if you need further help setting it up.
OP, add a copy of the free app at the end of the thread. People would find that interesting. Good job!

Where is network restrictions? (Treat wifi as mobile data)

Just got my poco F1 and i love it! But one question.. On my old nexus 5 with android 7.1, i could enter network restrictions and set a wifi as "metered connection" to treat it as a mobile data. Is it possible to do this on poco? Since i share wifi from another phone i don't want it to eat up the data because it thinks it is on a unlimited wifi network.. My poco is using Android 9 with MIUI 10.
Cheers!
Idk about miui, I'm on lineage os. But check by going to WiFi, click the gear next to WiFi you're connected to, click advanced and you'll see a "metered" option which you can change as you want.

Thanks for the tip! But sadly there is no "advanced settings". Only "additional settings" but that doesn't have it either.
