Question Issues with touchscreen accuracy? - Google Pixel 6

Since I got my phone, I've noticed I often need to tap multiple times on the screen to "click" on what I want to open/activate. I never experienced something similar in the past with other devices.
At first, I thought it was a matter of screen sensitivity, but now I think it's more about the way the OS is registering taps.
See the following video: https://streamable.com/awblmr
There are two things:
If you click slightly above or on the side of an icon in the launcher, the app won't open. However, if you tap significantly below, it works fine (I prefer the latter behavior personally).
In chrome/bromite, if you swipe at the limit in between the tab icon and the status bar, it will both show tabs and pull the notifications.
Has anyone experienced this very irritating behavior? I mostly notice it when I want to do open apps, use the navigation bar, or type on the keyboard. It seems like it's a software "issue", so hopefully Google improves this.

I, too, am experiencing similar issues. I was chalking it up to the change from OP6t to the P6 until your post.

Good to know I'm not alone in this. I'm about to get a second unit, so I will do similar testing.

You are not alone. Same problem here with two Pixel 6 (mine and my wife's).

Just received my new unit, I have all the same display issues:
It feels cheap, especially in the middle:
https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1453025239537967105
Same rainbow effect when I tilt the phone
Same weird "touchscreen accuracy" as described here

Getting the unregistering taps on app icons. And also some lower app icon taps will open the app drawer. Both intermittently.

I've actually not seen this behavior. I do notice that the text below the icon seems to be part of the actual icon and if you click anywhere near that it will open the app. Other than that not really but I've only had it for a day or so. I have found that keeping my fingers moisturized eliminates errant touches and FP issues. Great for my skin but now I have to carry a little tube of Eucerine around.

I, too, was thinking it was just the slightly different keyboard position I still had to get used to...
I'm consistently having issues opening the emoji keyboard within Signal. I often have to repeatedly press the emoji button for the list to show up...

Same problems, especially on small items (like ships in Starfleet Command)

Definitely having this issue. With or without increased sensitivity. No screen protector.

Definitely experiencing touch accuracy issues in many places (pixel launcher, keyboard, quick settings, individual apps, settings, etc basically everywhere) I'd like to believe (hope) it's totally addressable in a software fix

I'm pretty sure the cause of this issue for me is that the phone is so big and heavy. It's hard for me to accurately touch the screen when my hand is struggling to hold the phone up.
This is part of why I hate the Pixel Launcher's "swipe up to open app drawer" gesture. It results in so many false positives when I'm just trying to click an icon, but the phone slips a bit and it gets registered as a swipe instead.

[Q] Atrix Screen Issue

This isn't a big issue but I'm not sure if it's normal. When I'm scrolling through my home screens certain widgets will start to have a blocky gradient effect and when I stop scrolling they appear fine again(Calendar Widget). Also when I'm scrolling through the settings menu the lines dividing each option will start to fade out and then come back when I stop scrolling up or down. Has anyone experienced this problem and is there a way to fix it ?
What launcher are you using? I know LP+ has a setting for graphic performance while scrolling through home screens.
I'm using Go launcher.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I use ADW EX and don't have this problem.
It doesn't matter what launcher I use, It still has the same problem. Could it be a hardware issue ?
no its like that for me too, and also when i was using my captivate. its normal, i dont think people understand what you're saying.
if you hold a page halfway (dont just flick it, take a finger, press on your screen and slowly move it to the right/left where your testing widget is) you will see your widget have that circular gradient. test it guys.
some widgets dont show it because of the color i believe, try facebook/twitter widgets or extended controls. you'll see what i mean

That's the same issue I have but it has never happened to me on my Ideos , Desire or Galaxy S. Also Last night I was using the screen filter app and this made is much worse. There is also I slight ghosting effect at certain times. I just bought this phone several days ago, should I return it ?
Hold on, so your saying there is no issue when flicking through home screens.? The only issue is when you hold your screen in the transition period between two screens.? I must be misunderstanding, because if my comprehension is correct.. I would file this under non issue and say stop trying to study the transitions between screens.
Its the same issue you're describing. On the home screen if I hold the screen half way between the next screen I can see some widgets have an issue and there also a ghosting effect with icons. This seems to happen alot when I have a black/dark background and is very annoying. The app drawer also has the ghosting but with all the icons and the background is grey. In the settings menu the lines dividing each option fade when I'm scrolling and the text has a flickering effect. This is especially bad and since I use my phone at night before I go to bed and the lights are off it can annoy my eyes quite a bit. It's not me being picky the phone shouldn't do this.

With that explanation I understand there is a real issue here, however I am not experiencing any ghosting affect anywhere with LP+. Even when holding the screen between two screens, it actually looks really good w the flip2 transition affect. not that Im seeing anything really except one of my screens turned sideways.. Can you post a pic? Heres mine:

here is an example. its a very light gradient in the screen shot but the effect is more noticeable on screen. IT IS NORMAL, it happened on my galaxy S captivate too.
also, its certain widgets on certain backgrounds i assume, my twitter widget isnt doing right now, but it did on my captivate with a different background. so who knows. its normal, don't worry that you have a defect.
I'll try and upload some photos when I get home.

[Q] Things that suck about the Galaxy S II - Help me resolve

I love my SGSII, but some things just plain suck though. Does anyone know of solutions to the following:
Bluetooth
Poor A2DP quality (low bitpool)
Gets hot and battery drain after turning the car stereo off.
Often doesn't respond to forward/back controls.
Lockscreen
I'd much rather just have the stock Google lockscreen. Anyone know how to restore this?
Call answer slider
These are ugly and not very smoothly animated. Anyone know a way to replace these with stock or otherwise?
Apps missing from Market on KE7
I've noticed a few of these. It finds Samsung-specific apps instead.
Swipe to dismiss notifications
I guess this is just a useful cyanogen feature that I miss.
No silent state
I want 'ring and vibrate', 'vibrate only' and 'totally silent' ring modes on volume button like Cyanogen, or in the notification drop down. As it is, I only have everything or vibrate only. It's very annoying having to go into the menus or use an ugly widget.
Change what double-tapping the home button does
Currently goes to Vlingo, which is awful. It could do something useful
The UI still has loads of poor design elements left over from the SGS
Most notably, words that don't fit in boxes and fall onto 2 lines as below (regardless of font used)

}
Also, loading bars often overlap other text and elements. It looks sloppy. Why do Samsung think this is an improvement over stock?
The Gallery app has two menus to send things
Ways to share pictures is now split between 'send via' and 'share via'. This is completely unnecessary. Why would Samsung do this? Can I install the stock gallery app?

I use widgetlocker to bypass the stock lockscreen. There is a setting in widgetlocker which allows you to bypass your stock lockscreen so when you "slide to unlock" it goes straight to your homescreen. Plus you can add widgets, etc. which is a very nice feature.
coming from the iPhone (though liking the GS2 very much) I find it annoying how incosistent the UI is.
To share a picture from the browser is a completely different action than sharing something from the gallery...
I've got a higher bitpool lib uploaded... Wanna try it?

Back up the old one, and put in /system/lib/ and see if it helps

Is this the original One from the villain thread? Because that got my sgs2 stuck at the boot screen!
Add to this list the video camera which constantly goes in and out of focus.

wow is that bad, i never knew these types of things existed. i just thought it was identical to AOSP code based ROMs. samsung should really feel silly for UI issues like that. particularly because they are stock elements gone awry allegedly due to samsung's custom skin of the device. they broke stock!
Yes it's very sloppy. All of these were present on the first Galaxy S. Either fix thhem, or put it back to stock!
More issues:
Setting to 'power saver mode' disables sync. Returning to normal mode doesn't re-enable it.
How the feel do I snooze the alarm?
Network data stops working, with the upload arrow stuck on but no download.
You can set the snooze settings under advanced settings when you create or edit an alarm. Tab on snooze and set the snooze timeout and the number of times you are allowed to snooze.

These things "Suck"? Sure, they can be inconvenient, they're minor software bugs I imagine. SGS2 is new. Give it some time

Well, the battery draining in less then half a day is not properly a minor inconvenience, given that it's a mobile device. IMHO.
Even the sound quality over bluetooth is a major letdown for me, to be true. I am coming from an Iphone4 whose BT sound quality was great and I'm pretty disappointed.

i'm just gonna say it - the screen is too close to the buttons

does anyone else have issues with accidentally hitting the bottom buttons on this phone? it happens in a bunch of different apps, but the worst one is this:

my finger tends to hit the playback position bar while i'm attempting to hit the home button, and ends up seeking me to the middle of the track. this is infuriating, especially given that i tend to listen to 1+ hr long mixes.
there's no way to increase the border on the bottom of the screen or anything is there? i could also switch music players, but i'd rather find a workaround that improves the situation with all apps. any ideas?

I have not come across this issue yet. I normally use the music widget which takes up a fraction of the screen. And I tried using the full screen to check out the issue, but my lifeproof nuud case is the reasoning for making it difficult to hit the menu or back button. Because of the case it has kinda trained me to hit a smaller area when going for the buttons (menu, home, or back).

%100 agree with you. It happens to me all the time with different apps. I, personally, start feeling that on screen button better that physical buttons.
<--------------- coming from Nexus phone
I think it's only really noticeable with thicker cases really, when I'm using my Seidio Active case it will nudge my thumb up into the screen every once in a while if I'm not paying attention because of that lip around the phone, whereas if I'm using my Spigen Slim Armor case I don't have that problem because of how ultra thin the lip is. The only thing I can think of that would help you out would be to use a custom rom with the ability to enable on-screen buttons like CM10.2 or something. Of course you'd lose screen real estate that way, but you wouldn't have to use the home button or soft keys anymore to get around. I am also hoping that Samsung will eventually ditch all physical and soft keys entirely and go with all on-screen controls like the Nexus. I'm pretty sure they won't though, they're as stubborn as Apple is.

Tilt sensor is really screwing up

So the phone is randomly rotating 90 degrees for no reason. Some times it cooperates, sometimes it's just spazzing out tilting back and forth rapidly, or refusing to go back to portrait at all. It's all over the place.
I am rooted and running busybox. Is there a module or any kind of app that I can use to assign a quick 90 degree rotate button to? Not an annoying drop down menu or anything that requires multiple presses. I'd love to just use a button in the digital navigation bar that would immediately rotate. I cant find any such function though.

Check out this thread; it may help you. Someone fixed their accelerometer using the app.
Edit: If that doesn't work, I use Xtended NavBar. It adds "pages" to your navigation bar and you can choose which toggles you'd like to have.

Edit: Nope, if anything it's worse now. Just watched it flip 6 times in a row, while holding it perfectly still.
Nope, sorry Xtended NavBar also doesn't work with this ROM it seems. Maybe it doesn't like the type of NavBar the phone uses.

Unfortunately, I can't think of anything else except either doing a factory reset or restoring an older backup from when everything was fine.
I am trying this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.androgames.level&hl=en
And holy hell, at first the bubble was just going in all random directions. Numbers were instantly going from 0 to 25 and such. Just possessed. Calibration and reset did nothing. Then I decided to go to recents, and hit the wipe brush to clear all. Instantly cured the sensor issues. Can a background process somehow be corrupting the sensor? I'm just hoping this is a software issue and not a hardware issue.
Edit: I've also completely uninstalled GravityBox and busybox. Maybe they were an issue. We'll see. If it still happens, I hope I can pinpoint the background app causing the issue by eliminating them one at a time in recent apps.
It turns out that clearing recent apps isn't fixing it after all. I just sat and stared at bubble level while tilting and it literally took 45 full seconds before it suddenly realized it was tilted. Its like the tilt sensor just goes to sleep randomly.
Edit: Ok I'm using this now https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate&hl=en
I set forced landscape and forced portrait modes to two different shortcut actions via the NavBar thanks to GravityBox. It'd be ideal if I could just make only one button that flips between the two modes, but this will do. I also disabled the notification from the rotate app because it was annoying. It seems fine without it.

Help needed, alphabetical apps and alarm question

I have a EE edge and it has no option for alphabetical apps that I can find, it is not in the usual place in the top right does anyone one know an app that can replace this or a way other than changing launcher that this can be achieved please?
Also the alarm clock is terrible as I can't seem to change how many time it allows me to snooze or for how long it will snooze for. My old note 4 would allow 10 snoozes and I could change the interval. Am I being blind or has this been removed? If its removed can someone recommend a decent alternative?
Overall love the phone just irritated by these two stupid omissions which have been standard on every android phone I have had for the last few years
Same here, awesome phone but the app draw thing is mental. Hopefully Samsung fix it. Years back the first versions of touch wiz were also lacking this option, then there was an app which did it for you. I can't remember what it was called, and I've searched and can't find anything. Anyone? I don't want to swap launcher before anyone suggests doing that.

Samsung took their Apple emulation a bit too far now. No way to alphabetize app drawer and if you go in applications you will find settings for stock apps just like with the iPhone. It's like they care more about people jumping ship from the iPhone than they do about loyal customers.
I also can't find a way to hide files in the gallery so if you have a lot of music installed it automatically puts the album art in which is very cluttered. All of these issues are not present on the note 4 running lollipop so would be very interested to hear Samsung's reasons for these annoyances.
Although individually they are all small added together the are really starting to annoy me and may make me consider my purchase which is a shame as the hardware feels amazing and the music is superb. I just hope it is a case of time to sort these things out.
I second the snooze problem and the alphabetical sort issue as well...
i had a software update...but that didn't help in sorting this issue....
