Question set different notification sound for Gmail - Samsung Galaxy A52 5G

i am trying to set a separate notification sound for incoming email in Gmail for ny A52 5G.
in the Apps setting, i select Gmail, then Notifications and then Mail.
when the window opens, it shows underneath Sound the system default. uf u tap on that, it loads the Ringtones for Phone app. if I download a sound file, it will not let me set it for only Gmail.
i have also tried to download a sound file from Zedge, but can not assign it to the Gmail app.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Google has removed this feature from their Gmail App. Those bastards

So, I have MiXplorer and when I hit "Sound" it asks to complete either using SecSoundPicker or MiXplorer.
I then navigate through MiXplorer to the folder my ringtone is located and select it.
It should work then.
Good luck!

found the solution!
Iuninstalled the Ringtones for Phone app and tried it again. This time, The option to use Sound Picker spp was displayed. chose that app and selected a sound file. worked perfectly.
I was unaware that I could uninstall the Ringtones for Phone app.
Thanks to everyone who responded.

[Q] Turn off Notifications?

Newbie here, I searched but sorry if this has come up before.
The 3d is my first Android phone - came from Palm Pre minus hell.
How on Earth do you turn off the sound and LED notification of every email / SMS / etc?
I've got the notifications turned off in the Mail app for each of my two accounts, but still get the BLLLIP every frickin' couple minutes.
Thanks!

use volume-down until it's on vibrate
you configure notifications from a given app from the app itself. so when you're in the main scene of an app, hit the menu key & look for Settings>Notifications.

Thanks, but I've already done that. Still get the notifications.
Calendar
I've also noticed that you can't turn on notifications but have vibrate off for the calendar events. I think this is a sense 3.0 thing, as you could do it on the EVO 4G and could do it in some custom sense 2.1 ROMs I ran. Kingdom ROM (sense 3.0) had the same issue. Wish they'd put that back in.
If you're using Gmail under settings there is an option that will only notify you once for unread emails. Once you check your mail and get new messages it'll notify once again for the next new message until you check it.
As for SMS the default app either notifies you on each app or none at all. I checked Go SMS Pro but they don't have an option that only notifies you once like Gmail does.
Edit: I had the Pre minus too, and in Android the main thing is that you use the menu button pretty much the same way in the Pre you hit the upper left corner to get the programs menu.
Thanks
Well, I'm either dumber than usual, or something is wrong.
On the page in Mail settings under "Notifications", "Email Notifications" is un-checked and set to "Off". Still get the frickin' bleep an flashing green LED on every single email.
Not sure what else I can do.
Do you have a gmail or other account. If it's a gmail account when you setup your phone by default your gmail is in the gmail app. If you setup your gmail account in the email app remove it from there and only deal with it in one place which the gmail app is the best place for it.

Aha! I was using an app labeled "Mail" which was on the first page of the home screen (or whatever the proper term is), NOT the "Gmail" app . The Gmail app also has Notification settings. How confusing.
That took care of it. Thanks a bunch!

Notification sounds question

Is there a manual method to change notification sounds? Like a prop edit, or other change? I want to set individual sounds (email, sms, alarm, etc...), but the Sense 3.0 version I'm using only has a single setting for all notification sounds.

most apps with a notification feature will let you set a unique notification sound within their settings menu (I know Gmail, stock SMS, Facebook, G+ and at least my alarm program do this)
Yeah, I got sms and alarms figured, but there's no way to set an email notification sound.

which email app are you using? it's possible with the gmail app, it's just kind of hidden
go to settings --> account settings --> (select the account you want to change, if you only have one account it will be the only one listed) --> labels to notify (at the bottom of the list) --> (select the label you want to set a notification sound for)
I have one personal and two work accounts synced to my phone, with different labels synced for each account, and different notification sounds for each label. honestly...it's maybe more confusing than useful at times ("was that the ringer for my personal priority inbox or my secondary work account's receipts label?") but it's possible.
then again it might not work that way for other email apps, I wouldn't know!
Thanks for that, but I use the stock email app, as I have both a gmail and Comcast account, and I don't want to have to open two different apps to read email.

aha - in that case, I have no idea.
I suppose you could forward your Comcast emails to your Gmail account if you're really desperate for different sounds, but that might be more of a pain than it's worth too.

Regarding Sync with Google Account stuff

I got a Galaxy S3 (International Edition) just yesterday
I enabled it to pull stuff from my google accounts, but then when I'm going to open the contacts, I see a bunch of my gmail contacts
How can I remove those from the phone? Selecting to display 'only contacts with phones' seems to fix it, but the email contacts are still available to be seen if one goes to settings and sets to display all contacts again
The same happens with the gallery application, it has like one album for each image I've ever published in Google+, I can set it to display only images from the phone, but then this is not a permanent setting, everytime I exit the Gallery app and re-enter it, it will display all the images from G+ (and I've heard that it will scan the microSD at launch for images, so it will become a clutter of every possible image it can find in the SD)
I have now disabled the sync of google contacts / g+ stuff to the phone, from settings -> accounts and sync -> uncheck sync google photos/google+/picasa web albums/contacts, so it doesn't pull down new stuff anymore, but the old stuff is still there
Is there any way to remove that?
Is there a good gallery app that will not scan the whole SD for media, nor will pull stuff from picasa/google+?
Thanks!
quick pic is the gallery app for you, you can select which folders to see, or just long press a folder and hit exclude

Now just delete local files and you should be fine.
If you have a lot of them I would suggest to use File Browser such as ASTRO.

Facebook app missing Media and Contacts

Hi,
installed the Facebook app on my brand new Pixel 3, and want to mute the in-app sounds. I'm looking for an option in the app's Settings menu, but can't find anything.
Then I'm looking online for some support, and find out that this can be set up in the Settings menu, under Media and Contacts. Unfortunately, this option is not available in my app. Tried cleaning cache etc, reinstalling the app - still no change.
Anyone have the same problem? Is it Pixel/Pie-related? Or just something related to my FB account? Please help, it's very annoying to not be able to disable this app's sounds.
I've also reported the problem within the FB app, but there is no response/feedback.
I'm not on the Pixel 3 but I did notice this issue on my S9+ after I had to reinstall the app. The "Media and Contacts" settings menu where that was located is completely gone. I'm guessing maybe it was a mistake in the last update that rolled out? Regardless, it is VERY annoying that I can't turn off the app sounds. I have no idea why they are even turned on by default anyway.

Facebook Specific Notification Sounds

I just got my V60, having migrated from a V40. I used LG Switch to copy my files and settings over and by and large it worked well.
I had a number of apps that no longer had specific notification sounds on the V60. All used the "default" sound. Those apps are Ebay, Facebook, FB Messenger, and Snapchat. I was able to get the app specific sounds to work on Messenger, Ebay, and Snapchat by uninstalling and reinstalling.
Facebook however won't play the Facebook ding, it still uses the default sound. I have tried changing the sound settings under Settings menu, but I can't select the Facebook ding, only the sounds preinstalled on the phone, or the "default" sound. Now, if I go to the Facebook app and go under push notification settings, I can select the ding sound and all is well, however the system notification settings trumps the app notification settings.
I cannot uninstall Facebook, as I have an ATT V60, and Facebook is part of the system bloatware. I can only disable it. I have disabled, reenabled, reupdated, and have had no change. What am I doing wrong? What is the correct solution?
