They are visible on white background mostly. Is this an issue or is it normal with amoleds?
Its most noticable on low brightess in a dark room, but is visible (barely) on max brightness.
Any ideas? Normal amoled things or a real issuem

You mean those tiny black lines? Never seen that but let's say not every display is equal, especially those average quality like ours. They have more or less imperfections and usually it might be hard to send it for warranty I think...

This is so frustrating I had this on my previous mobile but not on my 11 lite 5G. Check out the link below and follow those steps, see if you can fix it.

If some strange horizontal or vertical lines appeared on your phone screen, remove the case, then take out the battery and SIM card.

it seems to be a display issue

Hi Guys - great phone which I've had a week or so now. Upgraded from the first Galaxy S.
Now I must admit to having very good eyesight (sometimes wish I couldn't see finer details!) and..
On white / grey images (download the various screen test apps to have a look for yourself)
The screen, when on a low brightness, is "muddy" and demonstrates a few vertical darker lines on the screen with mine showing quite a prominent one in the bottom right heading up about half way up the screen.
This is mostly visible when the brightness is at a minimum (regardless of auto or the powersaving options)
When the brightness is turned up it is barely visible, if at all... looks fantastic..
But.. at this point I preferred the screen on the Galaxy S which, when dimmed was more vibrant and didn't have this "problem"
Hands up who can see what I see? Any darker lines visible on your white / grey backgrounds? a side effect of this new subpixel arrangement? totally normal? some pixels not as bright in a row hence darker lines?
What do you guys think?

Yeah, mine set to minimum brightness and has some line artifacts like when LCD supplied with low voltage. (low brightness setting)
Easily noticeable when displaying grey colors.
I'm also using Screen Filter app, setting brightness even lower, some black points around 0.3cm is exposed at night.
Not sure those points are affected by anti-scratch film though.

I can confirm that I see the same "line banding" effect when using the device with low brightness. Like others have mentioned I also use the free Screen Filter app to get even lower brightness levels especially when reading stuff in bed in the near dark.
I would think this is a side issue with having the Super AMOLED Plus type screen but I guess only a Samsung tech can confirm.

Wondering those spots are caused by screen protector or defective screen or limitation of current AMOLED's.
You can see there is some current leak.(It should be bezel-like black if it is ideally off)

Also yes, pure black for SAMOLED still produces SOME light, but it's almost indistinguishable to the human eye.
Take a picture of a dark grey image on low brightness and it should show the bands the best...

That spot off the phone is on the wall not defective cam. As you can see photos are taken at different angle. And it is visible in naked eye.
Yeah I like its screen very much. That black issues are no problem in real use.

I just got my i9100, but when I adjust the screen brightness to 0-20%,
the white color will become yellow tint obviously.

Mine is whites are pure white at any angle even at the lowest brightness.
Can anybody else see the yellow tint, if they can it must be a faulty display or maybe you need a firmware upgrade, I dont know.

It could be a defective screen. There are some settings that effect the color temperature of the screen. Play with those to see if it helps.
Under Settings>Display>Background Effect, see what's checked and play with the different choices to see if it helps.
Under Settings>Display, see if Auto adjust screen power is checked. Toggle it back and forth and see what that does.
If it still yellow, exchange the phone. If anything, whites tend to run toward a blueish not yellow tint.

I think s/he's saying its the entire screen. That's been reported a few times. Sadly, there seems to be big variations in the color temperatures of the screen from phone to phone.

yes, that is the entire screen, not just part / a section of it.....
the color tone become quite yellow for the whole screen when the brightness is set to 0-20%, but when I set it to >20% brightness, seems there is no such problem.
I think the quality of Samsung screen is very various ....>.<

You should know that it may even be worse...
Do you have the possibility to get another phone for comparison?
I'm returning a SG2 because of it's low brightness and slightly over the top blue hue from viewing angles.
I compared it to my SG2 and it's solid whites from all viewing angles and twice the brightness of the faulty one on the lowest brightness setting.
Checked the settings, made no difference. Compare to a number of SG2, and then you'll know if your phone has a problem with its display.
I received my X F5121 two days ago, and as soon as I turned it on, I could notice a white horizontal spot a bit up from the centre of the display. You can notice it more when on a white blank page and with brightness a bit up.
I also found (more on white pages) that pushing the back cover of the phone would affect the screen with distorted colors and looks like (in my opinion) the glass is not properly installed on the device.
Am I the only one with this problems?

Is it like a white patch whether its a white screen, or a light color like beige background, like something is being pushed against a lcd screen, or a light bleed.
I had something like that, not sure if it was when I purchased the phone, but I only noticed it after a few months of using it, I took it a xperia service center and had the whole screen, including the phones outer frame body changed, not sure if the center was too lazy to change just the screen, but im happy with it now.
You should get sony to sort it out, or if you still have a return period for exchange/refund.
Anyone else having this issue? When I switch to the dark mode it's obvious the black level from one corner to the other is not the same.
A black saturation test clearly shows the bottom row visible when the device is rotated one way and then not visible the other way.
Anyone else getting this? I'm going to ask for a replacement.

Damn, that's almost exactly the same.
I just got a full refund for mine as the shop I bought it from had no stock for a replacement. Another one on the way from another retailer, hoping the display is in better shape.
The quality control on these appears to be a bit crap.
OneUI uses dark grey on the Tab S and Note10... There are many, if not infinite variations of grey that approach black. I do art, so it's easy to notice that #000000 was substituted.
SD_black is black, OneUI simply has a dark mode. Also black cannot be uneven on OLED, because black refers to an off state.

You're just splitting hairs.
Black can appear uneven on defective OLED displays. If you use a black saturation or black clipping test you can clearly see with the tablet or phone rotated one way that the bottom row is barely visible (which is normal), but rotate it another way and suddenly they're all clearly visible, they're only visible because that part of display is defective.
I have OneUI on my phone as well, there is no visible banding and black/gray levels (whatever you want to call them) are uniform. If you're seeing any variation then you got a bad display and you should get it replaced.

Display tester, first match on the play store. Find the black saturation test

Replacement arrived today and it's even worse than the first one, instead of one corner it's right down the centre of the display.
Also found an easier way to highlight the issue, using the image tester select the burn in test and move all the sliders to the left, this should give you black. Then slowly move the green slider over, you'll notice some parts of the display become green when the rest remains black, at least up-to a certain point. Took the image below in good lighting.
The Amoled lottery. I had to go through many returns before I got a Tab S3 that didn't have unacceptable display uniformity and things don't seem to have improved a lot since then.
I guess that it's cheaper for Samsung to deal with the returns of customers who notice and care about this than simply having better quality control in the first place. Reviewers of course get cherry-picked samples so the quality of the display can be praised to high heaven.
Really makes me think twice about even considering upgrading though...

Is your display like that for every image with that gray scale? Or is it just elements of the UI settings, dialer, contacts etc when you have dark mode enabled?

I'm doing this through Amazon,
I did call Samsung support hoping to speak with someone and they basically just said take it to a Samsung store, I'd rather not waste time with that, they'll just pretend they've never seen the issue before and send me back to retalier for a replacement.

you can even see it on on xda black theme.
But since this is a common issue maybe manufacturing level, I rather leave it like this, because I do not want to end up with an even worse one.

hours ago i found that when a blank tab is opened in samsung internet (i am using dark mode in system as well as the samsung browser) i could see the uneven black on the screen. i tried to rotate it but still the uneven black was there on the left and right hand sides in landscape mode, and on the top and bottom after i rotated it. so it should not be the ui or one ui problem
i remembered i have read this post so i revisit it and found many of you have the same problem. when i bought this tablet i have check via *#0*# to see how the black was and it's perfect. i also checked with *#0*# before replying to this post and the black was perfect too!
i am too wondering what could be the problem. i think it could be the dark mode which does not use true black (pixel off) in fact

Yeah, It's not the dark mode, this issue effects everything.
If it was just One UI I could ignore it, but sadly it's not. Essentially you have different parts of the display clipping at different black levels, even the sections that are relatively good still look patchy.
Samsung screwed us all but it's OK because it's not a popular product so nobody cares, prime example of how useless reviewers are as well because none of them picked up on it, cherry picked parts from Samsung probably.

tbh, i cant live with it IF it affects my daily usage... but so far, it's acceptable
i will try to fix that once i rooted this tablet, just a matter of time

I havent seen a thread related to display issues. In 2 german Forums I found threads about various issues. From Color fade, to overall greenish tint or flickering screens.
Sadly I am very picky with display stuff and my Display isnt perfect either. I mostly use relatively low brigthness settings (around 30-40%) and on dark mode especially the settings menu has a color fade from dark grey to dark blue. This cant be seen on any other color.
Its easy to see in a dark room, the brighter the room the lesser you will notice.
To easier check: use telegram, with its blueish theme its definitely way stronger fading there...
For a phone thats 649€ in germany thats unacceptable for me. My P5 has a slight warmish but perfectly even colored display and thats what I expect from a P6.
What about you? Can anyone check their display if thats a common issue?

Even when booting when everything is white, I always have multiple changes between white and blue in the display.
I'm at work, I try to take a picture when I get home.

My first OLED screen had been with the Galaxy Note 1 and I hated it for its issues. Always bought devices with LCD screens afterwards.
The Pixel 6 is my first OLED phone since and it is having pretty much the same issues my Note had 10 years ago
Great phone so far (Android is still a bit buggy), but the display is quite a disappointment for me personally, at least for brightness levels below ~50%...
Is it just me or are most of these issues regarding the display coming from Germany? Please can people state what country the device was purchased from if they have this issue

I just finished chatting with Google's support.
They are going to replace the phone, but I'm still waiting for their email with instructions.
But first they walked me through some superficial settings (disabling Dark Mode and some accessibility stuff, like Color Inversion...) and then tried to talk it off as a normal property of OLED displays, which I didn't accept to this extent. But hey, that's probably just Google's policy.
Let's see if this was just bad luck in the OLED lottery.
For me its too difficult to take a picture with dark screen. The color change is slightly less than the picture from @man1acc
But i have problems with white color, it is light grey and i have green stripes on white, this is also very very difficult to make a picture.
Here you can see it a bit, but in real life it is much stronger

I have some rainbow effect which is mostly noticeable on white backgrounds. Hard to capture but found it is quite noticeable with an external light source. In this case my monitor. Anyone else have this or more importantly for a RMA, don't have it?
Pixel 6 when on a black background the right side of the display has a green tint shadow effect kinda worrying as it's not present on the left side and seems to only appear on darker backgrounds like when pull notification tab down or in a app (like xda) with black background very noticeable , or is this just standard now for Oled displays it's not the first phone I've noticed this over the years just curious if any pixel 6 owners see similar or should I get it exchange ? Added pic not sure if shows that well though

Not normal. Each pixel is controlled individually.
It maybe hardware or firmware.
Sounds like the display control matrix wasn't designed properly or is defective.
Your screenshot isn't showing it so neither should the display!

Unfortunately not true. If it's an issue with the display, a screenshot should never show it. But it can be visible when a picture of it is taken.
My Pixel 6 (right) was bought first day from the Google Store. I'm in the USA. It has a very strong dirty red tint at the bottom and a garish green at the top. Easily visible at 60-70% brightness and lower. Here it is compared to my Pixel 4a (left), shot on my 3a. Haven't had uniformity issues this bad since my OG Pixel (which got replaced).
Waited to chat with a support rep for an hour, chatted for another hour, and have an RMA device ordered and on the way.

That was a joke id never cross to the dark side lol and tint only seems visible when in certain dark mode apps and not actually navigating around the phone xda app is worse lol so don't think hardware issue tbh
