Question Question about XQ-BC72 model - Sony Xperia 1 III

Hello everyone, I bought the 1 III XQ-BC72 (Chinese Firmware) model couple of weeks ago which in the beginning didn't put too much thoughts into the disadvantages of having the Chinese firmware, I removed most of the bloatware manually using ADB and I have been using the device ever since it's working with no issue except for Google services specially Google Play Services which come preinstalled. these issues as follow

The backup functionality is completely broken and it doesn't sync with my Google account also the OK Google in the voice match settings is not available.
My Google Play System update is also stuck on the August update even though I'm on the latest Firmware
and the last this is the Google Play Services which breaks anytime I try to update it, once I update it the Wear OS app stop working and stuck on the splash screen and so is the Sony Headset app (The backup and location functions).
My question is that anyone using the QX-BC72 having the same issues and is there is a way to convert the Chinese firmware to the international one without losing the OTA functionality?

you can try all other firmwares without any problem & install updates manually if ota updates doesn't work

Btw OTA is really the ruin of any moder smartphone.
Trash everyware chunk of old system. Better do a clean installation everytime.
Lot of problem on iphone, samsung, sony and any other device, like battery drain are pretty much always caused by Ota updates.

Does the Google Play Services works, what I mean by that is that you can download it and update directly from the Play Store and does the backup and hey google voice matching in the assistant works after that in the RU ROM?

Try Hong Kong version FW that one has Google service fully functional.

[Q] Android Market icon not there ? help

I need some urgent help .. I bought Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100( with gingerbread) 5 days ago in china .. as i live in china .. unfortunately , i found that there is no Android market icon , and therefore i cannot access market.android.com .. i googled and found there is no way that you can get it installed unless you go to the manufacturer , which i did , only to be disappointed... ( forget help, the customer care people , dont even understand the problem .. ) ... so i downloaded the android market .apk file 3.0.26 from a different source to my computer and then to the device and installed it .. since i am new user , i am not permitter to post outside link but the source is adroid devices dot com (with no spaces)
but now when i open the application it asks the device needs to be registered and would you want to register it .. i click yes and thats when it "exits" the application .. i am not able to do anything with this app ..
I am wondering if anyone can help me here ..
thanks

Its "Play Shop" now no google market....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23468017&postcount=18043
Yes.. It is.. First some reason Google renamed the Android Market, but Google play.. But everything is saved from when it was Android market. All you need is your Google email and password.

Market has been Updated
The android market has been Updated to google play store. There should now be an icon called Play store on your device.
And if you use "Go Launcher Ex (deutsch)" there is a new update, that will fix the missing (new) icon of the market.
I had some trouble too, but now everything is fine.
BUT now i got this annoying freeze problem again in the market
Here is what i found out about installing Android Market (or Google Play, Changed name but it is the same thing) on my Galaxy S2 i9100G.
I've been searching all around the web to try to fix it.
It is still not working for me, but i got a little bit farther though.
I actually found the hint on a Kindle thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351283
So what i did and what you can try is:
1) Install GoogleServicesFramework.apk
This seems to be the issue, as when you install it you can see the permissions Google requires, and pretty much says the can access ALL the data in your phone. (It would explain the censorship)
2) Install Android Market with any .apk you can find (google play apk also works)
3) Launch Android Market (or google play, anyway you get the update first time after you loggin)
Logging with only my wifi connection in some how didn't work, i had to turn on the APN to get sign in.
I HOW NOW ACCESS TO ANDROID MARKET !!! ON A CHINESE ROM !!!
But not so fast. I have access to the market, but i get an error when downloading an app (error 101). So it is still not working, but getting closer. I sent an e-mail to google to see if they can fix this (seems my account and my device are still not linked). Waiting for the reply...
Cheers

Everything works fine, Camera., Apps, Android os is 5.0.2 kernel 3.10.49, everything is smooth, but there is anoying message "You have crash artifacts to upload" all the time!? If I cant flash normal rom, is there any method to kill that message? Thanks..

I believe that sticker talks for itself and my advice would be not to be so open about this transaction.
In any case unless you have an EMMA account with relevant privileges you can't do much.
If you are lucky enough and Sony enables OTA updates for customer acceptance firmware applicable to the variant you have then at least you might get a firmware update in the future. But if you have as you say the crash handling app installed then probably you have an quite old FW which might not get any OTA.
Is there any way to instal new firmware without OTA? I think for z4 actual android official version is 5.11? If i kill process com.sonymobile.crashmonitor.system and com.sonymobile.crashmonitor.ui anoying message "You have crash artifacts to upload" is gone. Z4 is alredy long time on the market, so stickers now dont have much point anymore?

The last part is something you need to discuss with Sony but I don't believe a prototype unit on the loose is something they don't take seriously.
If I were you I'd ask the seller to take it back and refund you because as I wrote the only option for updates you have is either EMMA access with the proper permissions to download customer acceptance firmwares, someone with such access to give you the firmware or sony to enable OTA for customer acceptance firmware. The latter happens some times.
With the current firmware you have you can of course kill as you said some processes to get rid of the crash monitor app and notifications but there are still other debug bits enabled. If the firmware has root access enabled - there are such debug firmwares and you can check that from adb shell with su - you can clean it up a bit more.
That is all I can provide as info.
Solution is very simple. I download latest firmware 28.0.A.8.260 with XperiFirm and flash with flashtool and everything works perfect! No anoying messages anymore, nothing..

Prototypes have a different bootloader so you can't flash retail firmware on it and vice versa.
Up to Z3 tablet this was valid also for tablets, if they changed that in Z4 then you are lucky.

Suspicious app update in MIUI 11.0.8 stock ROM

Hello everyone,
Got a notification for an app update with Chinese characters. The description doesn't give out much info. It doesn't give me an option to uninstall. All i can do is Update the app. I am not able to search for this app on the google play store.
If i had my apps on auto-update, probably would have missed this.

Thanks in advance.
It's a system app update for Xiaomi MI Key (Mikey).. Google it for more info.

Tried to find Mi key app on play store. could not find it. Though googling it gave an interesting info about how helpful it is. Anyways the screenshot which i tried to attach, had an icon the same as Mi Mover and the same description. On the web version of playstore i could find this in English.
But what was confusing when I received the notification was, the app name and the description was completely in Chinese and I didnt have any other option to select the permissions or uninstall. (But guess that goes for all the apps in-built with MIUI)

Mi mover. Not suspicious. It's on the playstore
I guess every chinese app is suspicious.
Poco have many suspicious system apps. Many are not removeable even by root access. I am thinking of installing a custom Rom to get rid of These apps. Some are even more suspicious than normal bloatware. Guys u should also look into a way to get rid of them ASAP.
<UPDATE> Tried everything to remove pesky little apps of miui But no luck even with root access
Apps Used titanium backup , es filr explorer ,twrp, system apps remover etc etc
No luck Kindly help me out

According to the translation of the screenshot you have attached; it's a Mi Key system app update.
And for the icon I think miui developers was too lazy -as always- to find new one.
Moreover, most of miui system apps are not on Google play for ex. ( themes, scanner, screen recorder,... etc.), that's why they have their own system updater in the phone settings and that's the only way to update these system apps.
Anyway, it's a system app update.. So, no need to worry.
Cheers

A new update for P40 lite is on the way

Huawei P40 Lite, update version 10.1.0.226, has started to be distributed for European (C432) devices.
Update content; Latest latest security patch (June)

How Does Huawei Update System Work?
It reaches only one percent of active devices in the first 24 to 48 hours after an update is released. This is to enable Huawei to monitor and check device errors initially. Planned updates are done within one to two weeks. And it may take up to 8 weeks, so even if it is announced that the update will be distributed / started to be distributed, you may not see your device yet, this is completely normal!

Hi.
I have P40 Lite (10.1.0.206) got Google apps working, and turned of auto updates.
Is there anybody out there that has been updating while Google apps is installed?
Dont want to mess it up when everything is working fine.
Its a nice phone when Google Apps is present.
Pretty useless at least for me without it.
Cant use Chromecast, access my contacts etc.

Been using P40 Lite with gapps installed. Installing every update that comes to it aswell. No problems so far :good:

I actually upgrated to 10.1.0.226 BEFORE installing Google Apps.
Then I did a factory reset of the phone.
Then I've just managed to install Google Apps following the latest method described here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fTIZFehwlw
It now asks me to do a minor "system parameter update": can this break the google apps or is it safe to do it?
Tx a lot again!

Do not flash tmobile rim, you will brick your phone.
First, I succeeded in upgrading lga001lg andaroid11 overseas. However, it is not yet clear under what conditions it will be updated.
Please just refer to it.
After applying for Google play service bata, I tried to update it using Japanese vpn.
If not, try installing a program like an ad guard (free version), install the ad guard, complete the setup, and try to update it by running Japanese vpn. Then, the adguard vpn will be turned off and the Japanese vpn will be executed.
If not, please install Google Carrier and try the same way as above.
If it is updated to vpn, it will proceed very slowly. By chance, I updated it to Android 11 this way. I still have to try many things because I'm the only one who succeeded.
I hope you succeed. If you succeed, I would appreciate it if you could reply how you succeeded.
