Question Has anyone in the u.s. gotten the December update ota - Google Pixel 6

Just curious cause I have been checking everyday to no avail

Not sure I just flashed factory images to get mine, did you check with Joe yet?

Not here in California

Are you rooted or stock.
Rooted = no ota.
You can download the ota or full factory image from Google.

I understand you could download the OTA. I just find it odd that it hasn't seemed to be pushed to anyone in the United States

I do not know what to tell you, thousands of people here in the US have received the update notification. And installed the update without an issue.
You need to be more clear on your question.
What is your current version?
Are you rooted or have been root before?
Is your settings turned on for an update?

I've been clear, has anyone actually received the update ota? I have yet to see anyone reply yes. Me, and 5 other coworkers haven't received it, and I don't believe google actually pushed it in the us. Sorry you seem to be confused by the question ,but it was really quite simple

Not just US. Check the Poll here: https://9to5google.com/2021/12/20/does-your-pixel-6-have-the-december-2021-update-yet-poll/
I finally gave up waiting and sideloaded the OTA.

Here is a thread already on this subject.
Did anyone get the December update yet?
Hey all, Loads of rumours that the December update will be released to Pixel 6 users today but did anyone actually get it yet? I really need this damn finger print reader to work better than it does!!! Ta

After waiting until the 21th I have downloaded the factory OTA image multiple times, but the file hash doe not match the file hash on the download site.

I don't get why these threads aren't closed and redirected. And they should make a separate section for root users. How many threads are there.. if I'm rooted will I get the OTA, magisk fails, how do I unroot, all within an update thread that had nothing to do with root. And multiple threads exactly the same questions. Someone needs to get a handle on this forum. A section all things root here. Not a dev section but for users. Tidy this place up a bit.

Unlocked purchased from Google on AT&T. No OTA yet

MOD ACTION:
Thread closed as a similar thread already exists HERE.

I have done root, clock mod, AP mod, and changed the boot animation. The reason I was asking is I was just curious so I would know if I will get the OTA updates.

What you asked previously was "STOCK" firmware. If you haven't flashed a ROM then you're on "STOCK" firmware but you did modify some parts of it with MobileAP so I don't know how that would play about.
Simple Solution.. its on the stickied post
IF I ROOT, WILL I GET OTA UPDATES?
Yes. Rooting will not prevent this, unless you flash a custom ROM that will block receiving the OTA update. If you do receive and download the OTA update, you will lose root. Typically within hours of the OTA becoming available, thanks to some fine XDA folks you can get the update WITH root. You would simply need to download and flash the update like a normal ROM.

Even if you dont get OTA, you wouldn't want it anyway because OTA gives the update to people in GROUPS and not every single person gets the update at the same time. So you can get yours two weeks after the first batch got the update. When a OTA is released, somebody will post the link for rooted and non-rooted users to manually push the update. So there isn't a need for OTA. Just look around the forum for it when its actually out.

Yeah it just seemed weird asking if you have stock or not. It honestly doesn't really matter because in the end, you're still going to get the update even if it isn't OTA.. you'll just end up manually pushing it which is better than OTAing.

That's because for them its a chore but to justify it they get paid. Here, we do it because its something we actually ENJOY doing (well.. not all of us like to help people) and we're more enthusiastic.
I never deal with customer support unless its something out of my hands.
When you flash simple mods like MobileAP or a new Battery icon, will it pose problems when you update, say to Froyo in the future?

I can see how he can get confused. I was a little when I 1st started paying attention to the whole Android scene.
Stock could mean a few different things to different people.
1. Stock = NOTHING CHANGED period at all. not even mods.
2. Stock = Rom that shipped with the phone with a few mods
3. Stock = A flashed "true stock" rom
4. Stock = an Google Android STOCK rom aka AOSP
I still go by the saying that their is no stupid questions just stupid answers.
another thing, thanks for at least posting this in the correct forum haha. A lot of the other members get really PEEVED when they see postings in the wrong area.

I wouldn't think that it would cause any issues updating to 2.2 with mods like the battery icon. I'm unsure of the MobileAP though cause 2.2 has it built in. I would prob remove that to be safe before you update. I'm still learning too so lets wait till a more seasoned member could give ya a better answer.

2.1 has it built in too.. its just the U.S. versions of the Galaxy S has it removed because of the carrier.
Just think of "STOCK ROM" as the default ROM without any modifications. That's the best explanation of it.

Did everybody get the notification about the update?

I was just wondering if everybody got the "update" notification? I got my 3D and have yet to receive any update message....not that I would take but I'm just saying.
I went into setting and checked for update and nothing comes up. I'm on software version 1.11.651.3....

Thanks..I was just checking because some people said that they accepted an update. But I'm definitely not accepting it until the devs say it's all good
well either way you look at it they will probably push the update friday anyways, and without root to begin with we have no clue if that update gave access to the bootloader or not.
i updated and it seems i don't see any difference
whats the update supposed to do?
An article I read said it was a fix for a FC in the calendar but it is a sizable file too so...
Hopefully it opens the bootloader.
Install or Not
ok...so my ???? is should I update it or not?
Thanks

The only update I accepted was something that came up when I tried to play green hornet. Was 4 things that downloaded and in downloads folder said one file and was around 23 mb .
I updated to 1.13.651.7, but now it won't find any of the other updates/fixes that it's supposed to be finding...

A question about the recent OTA and root.

Hi,
Just got my phone a couple days ago and immediately rooted it using some of the great tutorials I found on this site.
My question is, I have been getting a notice to update to the latest OTA. Will this affect my root?
I believe it might disable root but you can always root after the OTA update.
was there a 2nd OTA update sent out, other than the one on Aug. 24th? if so i wasn't aware of this.

Go for it. I flashed back to MR3 today and then took the OTA update. I then rooted without any problems.

official t mobile ice cream sandwich update wednesday

t mobile says the update will be here for the springboard this wednesday be on the lookout for it
And it looks like they plan to give us jellybean at some future date.
"Improved Memory Allocation – critical update to allow device to receive future OS updates"

So how do us "flashers" get the update since they are no longer considered spring boards?

Someone with a stock Springboard has to catch the OTA update URL in order to let us analyze what's in the zip. Depending on which files are full images and which are patch files, that will determine what needs to be done in order to flash a Springboard from the MediaPad ICS firmware.
If it's like other OTA zips for this unit, it will contain a full set of radio files but some of the system files might be present as patches. If someone can post the URL to that zip I will try flashing just the radio part to see if that stabilizes the radio on my tab.
If we're lucky, the ICS upgrade will be such a radical overhaul that it will include full images of everything we need in the zip.
Hey guess...brand new springboard owner here!!! mines is as stock as it can be....what can i do to help?

Stay on alert for upcoming announcements as to whether the update has been rescheduled. If you receive an update notification, post in this thread with the details and don't accept the upgrade until you've found the URL (with our help if necessary).

Hey Everyone!
Although delayed for further testing, ICS is still in the works to be released for the SpringBoard. A release date is not available at this time; any updates will be posted in the support comunity.

Hey guys, I recently won a T-Mobile SpringBoard, and I quiet like it. When I got the device I went to System - About Tablet - System Updates (Google), and it said there was an update. So I made it download the update and install it. But it was just a newer version of Honeycomb. For a little over a week now I've been trying to get the Ice Cream Sandwich update but the thing just says the tablet is up to date.
Is T-mobile doing a slow roll out of the update or something? I'm not a T-mobile customer, but I don't think that matters since it did do one over the air update already.
Any clue what's the deal?
Thanks!

Download alogcat and filter for the text: http://
It should show up somewhere in the log once you have received the update notification. Please post a screenshot of the notification too.
Just for comparison this is the URL of the update from "older Honeycomb" to "newer Honeycomb":
http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/huawei_springboard_mediapad/009e6fd7c5ce.update.zip
I would assume this URL would take a similar form.
springboard ota link

yeah I got the same problem, downloaded file but no idea how to open it
- on your external Storage create a folder 'dload' put the downloaded file in this folder and rename the file to 'update.zip'
- power off (completely!) your device, press 'Vol+', hold it, and press power
- hold 'Vol+' until the green Android appears. It should start updating

New to the springboard and glad to have come across a site that has some information on it. I have been waiting for the update for a couple days now, I also downloaded the update zip that was posted a few posts up. When you say "external" storage, are you referring to an SD card? And I am assuming this can be done on a factory springboard? I would rather do this than wait for the OTA to hit my device. Thanks for your help, this is an awesome forum.

[Q] Any updates with rooting ND7?

Just looking to root the most current OTA, my search so far makes me believe its not possible. Is this true or am I missing something?
Thnak you!
I'm wondering the same thing. I recently had to get a replacement phone and unfortunately it's running stock 4.4.2. First time I've ever had a phone with a bootloader that couldn't be unlocked. I would like to at least have my phone rooted. Anyone out there willing to share a root solution with us?

Yeah it really sucks. I need root to fully make use of my chromecast. A bunch of devices received screen mirroring but not the note 2. Such a sinple thing but so difficult to root. Hope we can get root soon. Thank you to anyone who is still working on this.
