The unlocked version is bootloader unlockable (it's the one I have). Can't speak strictly about the other ones and not sure if the Verizon one is the Verizon model, which if it is probably can't be unlocked. But others can chime in more about the other two.

The Verizon model has a different antenna setup internally for use with Verizon's 5G service. Guaranteed it won't be unlockable.

Think back to when our Pixel 2 XLs were our daily driver. We never recommended Verizon models simply because they couldn't be unlocked. The same applies here, with the only advantage the Verizon model having is mmWave 5G to go with the Sub-6 5G found in the unlocked.

Yes, I know you can't unlock the bootloaders on the Verizon models. I just wasn't absolutely sure if that particular one in the Google Store was actually a Verizon model, having always bought the unlocked ones.

Thank you all. I'll try with unlocked model.

Do you think it's now possible with dirty pipe in the wild? I read this morning that the exploit can bypass Samsung's something or other and attain root so what about the Verizon models all the way back to the P3 and above? From my limited knowledge of these things it seems at the very least temp root which might allow the OEM switch to be unlocked, flip it and unlock the bootloader. Wouldn't that be a kick in the ass to Verizon / Google.

Not really meant for you specifically. I know there were a few folks on the P5 forum trying their darndest to get temp root to allow the OEM switch to toggle. I just didn't think we needed a new thread for this. I'll try to find the guy trying. It might have been a bounty thread.

This rom has multiwindow.jar and multiwindow.odex files inside /system/framework. If I'm not wrong those files were not present on XXALIE roms, so it could have multiwindow working...
Anyone want to try it and make a port for the SGS3? xD
Anyone with dev chops getting a vzw version and want to take a look into this dump that was graciously provided?!? Don't know if it's useful in its current form but at least it will provide somewhat of a head start. :fingers-crossed:

Considering the fact that the bootloader on the Galaxy S III was cracked and unlocked I'm pretty sure if Verizon forces Samsung to lock the bootloader that the same method can happen and get the bootloader unlocked. Sure it probably took a month or so but the bootloader was still cracked.
Coming from a Rezound which you use a paperclip to short the board to achieve s-off, anything is possible. I am optimistic about the bootloader, and for some reason we don't get it, I will be mystified, and heartbroken. Have faith in XDA. Sorry for posting in the dev section with nothing important, thanks....

Usually I care a great deal about this stuff, but in reality, beyond rooting to remove junk, using any other AOSP rom rather defeats the purpose of all the features that are included, and ONLY included with the TW rom. Split window and the like are all TW only, which means I LOVE paranoid rom, but it is highly unlikely that could be simply ported over with an app.
Other than root to remove bloat, I'm freakin STOKED to be jumping to this phone over my GS3. Booya, can't wait!

I second the Booya!
After bloatware, the sprint versions seem to have around of 9gb ram left (give or take) which is enough for me. VZ may be more or less but if they have full multi-tasking features (which seems to look good) I'll be happy as a clam.

The bootloader wasn't cracked, an unlocked version was leaked. Big difference.
Since this is sporting JB, it should at least have the disable function for the bloatware apps. Out of sight, out of mind

Thanks for your post on this matter. Why would they provide an unlock bootloader tool for the Deluxe model and not the Ultra? That frustrates me just a little, as an owner of this Phablet. I purchased the Asus Utra for it's small tablet qualities and even though I enjoy using it the way it is now, I would like to get more out of it, by rooting it.
Has anyone tried the www.kidapso.com AutoRoot tools to unlock the Ultra Bootloader, as they claim it does?
Thanks again for your post.

This claims to be able to root (without unlocking bootloader) through Super-Root:
http://www.how-to-root.stream/2016/09/asus-zenfone-3-ultra-zu680kl-8130.html
Don't have the device, so can't try.
As far as my outdated knowledge goes, root with locked bootloader is possible, but install custom recovery isn't, but with root you can at least use TB and an adblocker.
Can anyone confirm that this works? Will it stop OTA updates? Would you be able to install Xposed?

Thank you for your post. But as for me, Since you can do more with the bootloader being unlocked, I will be patient awhile longer to see what happens with this issue on the Asus Ultra....
As a side note many of the sites that claim to have unlocked bootloader and/or root for the Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra, you have to jump thru hoops to get to the actual site. For instance the kidapso.com site you have to fill out your information for receiving some product of various types, whether signing up for a gift card or something else. Then you actually have to agree to giving up your privacy by agreeing to allowing multiple vendors contact you by phone(in small print), even if you are on a national registry not to be contacted by sales persons or ads before you are even allowed to the site that supplies the actual info for unlocking the bootloader. So I don't even know if the information is legit, because I'm personally not going to agree to the above. As mentioned, I will be patient awhile longer while waiting for more information on the subject of the unlocked bootloader for the Ultra
Sorry guys I meant to say the base model Zenfone 3 ze520kl, not the deluxe.

Domestic SIM Unlock Sprint Galaxy S8+

I'm wondering if there are any other ways to domestic unlock a Sprint Galaxy S8+ beyond going through Sprint?
I know there are sites like theunlockr but I've looked at like 8 of these type of sites and I believe they are international unlocking or just don't support CDMA unlocking at all.
I'm sure after some time, idone & others will figure out the DSU. Root may be required first, though.

But do these methods domestic unlock so you can use it on AT&T and Sprint? My understanding is that there is international and domestic unlocking and international unlock would make it so you can't use it in the us.

So, the cat's out of the bag. I've personally unlocked 3 s8 and s8+ phones since yesterday.
I can post the links to the files needed, but i don't know if that is allowed or not.
Its pretty easy to do, but you would have issues with battery drain and some instability unless you flash the stock odin files again.
Unlock will persist, however.
how to make the unlock clean
Hello. I've unlocked my S8+ from Sprint. G955U. I am in Europe and Now I can make GSM calls and etc. But The system tries to make settings for Sprint, then it sends me system message as Sprint OMADM "Configuration not completed". It doesn't disturb me but I don't want it be shown. How can I remove it? Can anyone help me?
Or mabe I can flash the phone with other firmware?
What firmare can be used for G955U to make it international, i mean with many languages?

There is only the official unlock method.
Check the CID to see if it can be unlocked.
Code:
fastboot getvar cid
Then check the List of CIDs
I'm in the same boat with the cricket g power 2021
My phone XT2117-1 (Moto G Power 4+64GB) is locked by Verizon provider.
There is no Verizon network in my country.
If I insert a Sim card from a local provider (Tele2-Russia), I see a message: "A locked device. Your device is blocked by your operator. Please insert a valid Sim card."
I turn on my phone and two such screens are available to me:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And such a window for scanning a QR code is also displayed (If I tap the screen many times)
I wanted to unlock the bootloader. But the MOTOROLA support site does not generate an unlock code for my device.
Can you help me unlock my smartphone?
Can I make a crossflash for XT2117-1?
What should I do for this?
Verizon is known to require OEM locked bootloaders. I believe ATT does the same, but not T-Mobile. Was this phone given to you or were you given a buying offer you just couldn't refuse? I ask because considering you're in Russia, I presume based on your local carrier, the unlocked global variant would have been your best if not the only choice.
In terms of flashing, you won't be able to without unlocking the bootloader, but there may be a way to fool the phone recovery program to load up a similar stock rom by replacing some of the images within the official rom file you can download. But I'm doubting this will work at all due to hash signatures and other checks that may fail along the recovery process, which at worst you'll end up bricking your device.

You're right.
This is an Ebay purchase. Since it was purchased through a mail intermediary, it will not be possible to make a refund to the seller.
It turns out that there is no proven way for my smartphone to replace the firmware with an alternative firmware or stock firmware for another operator?
If I wait for a while, will MOTOROLA unlock the bootloader?
Will I be able to install LineageOS on the phone XT 2117-1 in six months or a year?
Unless you or someone in the moto community find an exploit to circumvent locked bootloaders, I very much hate to be the bearer of bad news in saying no you won't be able to install Lineage. Nor do I think Motorola would allow OEM unlocking any time soon.
I have an LG Stylo 2 that ran on Verizon, 5 years later that guy remains locked. Granted it's LG and a device model that didn't get much visibility in the community. Things could look much different for the Moto G Power in a years time. Who knows, mate. But I'd heavily recommend selling or finding a way to trade it for the global variant.
Is there even a Lineage rom available for this phone?

Anyone try any GSI ROMs on the G Power 2021?
It's pretty standard hardware as far as phones go. No weird under display fingerprint reader or anything. Anyone try a GSI ROM? It might "just work" or "almost just work but you need to run a few commands to fix something".

Nope. you can switch between U and U1 firmware but nothing really changes but if you try to flash other model firmware you either get an error or possibly brick the device. Samsung made sure the north American models wouldn't be able to be unlocked to be able to unlock the bootloader ever.
