How To Guide Force full screen on all aps and force rotation to landscape - Oppo Find N

Forcing full screen:
Navigate to Main Screen > Display size under settings and set each app to Full Screen
Force Rotation:
Install the app called Rotation | Orientation Manager by Pranav Pandey from the play store
Set it to Full Sensor OVERRIDE SYSTEM and give it any permissions it asks for.
Set it to Start on boot within its settings.
I expected to, but did not have to, set it to run in the background or tell it to auto boot within battery optimization. It has been working for over a week now.
I turned off notifications so it runs silently.

Thanks for this, its a very useful app! However, I just realised I don't really need it!
When I first setup the Find N, I set every app to Full Screen (as you do), thinking why wouldn't you want as much screen as possible for every app? Some of those apps will only display in portrait, hence the problem that when they start up on the folding screen, they automatically rotate 90 degress, and therefore you have to turn the device to portrait to use the app.
But I just realised that almost all the apps I have (like 99.9%) that will only display in portrait, do not need the extra width of the folding screen, and in fact end up stretched width wise. As such, if you just put those apps back to a 4:3 ratio rather than full screen (which still uses most of the screen), then they display on the folding screen in landscape (though with grey bars down each side). Another benefit is that they also don't look stretched anymore.

Great alternative, thanks.

No worries. Having just been through all my portrait apps and done this, I've also noticed that almost none of them benefit from the extra width even when they have it as they haven't been written to take advantage of it, so are either streched or have loads of space either side. Most are also the types of apps I don't care about using all the screen for, such as banking, parking, or food delivery, etc. All the apps that really benefit from spreading out such as messaging, media, video, and productivity apps, etc., already work in landscape and don't rotate.

I like to use side-by-side when unfolded, so this isn't an issue for me. Would be nice to easily swap out apps when I'm in SBS tho, currently I have to change one to floating, close it, then do the 2-finger ale again...

There is another one called Rotation mentioned above; however, other than I rarely need it anymore, it is not folding phone aware, and therefore you can't have different settings for the outer screen versus the inner screen, so if you force landscape on the inner screen then it will do the same on the outer screen.
Does this app allow you to set different preferences for the outer screen vs the inner screen?

You can swap out apps in SBS if you put them on the pop out sidebar; then you can drag the icon to replace the app in which ever of the side you want.

Ah great, thanks for the info!

I love the forced rotation setting. Is there any way to have the settings attached to the system drop-down settings? For example, if I turn auto-rotate on the phone, it automatically turns on 'Forced Auto Rotate' from the app? Not sure if that's a possibility.

Since the last system update, the app no longer works properly for me. Does anyone else have this problem?

No problem there with ROTATION app

Opera Mobile Question

I like to change the screen density to 187 on my nook. When I do this it causes opera mobile to be distorted with the menu bars being way larger than they need to be. Is there a way in opera:config to make it go back to the format when the density is set to 161.

The HUGE new GUI from them will be the same regardless of density. I've run things at the default 161 and 187, and it's the same. I just hide the navigation bar (under settings) so it's not in the way so much.
Thanks for the info and the 187 density suggestion.

For some reason couldn't get the built in screen shot in cm7 to work. Here is a photo though.

One might be able to write a custom CSS file to accomplish this.
Have you posted this on one of the Opera forums?
Hmmmmm...I just verified that I'm on the latest version of Opera Mobile in the market (11.1) and mine doesn't look like that. I still have the menu bar on the top, not the bottom. I do see new options such as User Agent Tablet vs. Desktop, so it's definitely a more recent version than the one I'd been using, but it doesn't match the screens here or on the market page. I guess it's worth pointing out that I'm using 170 dpi, so perhaps it determines its layout based on density...tablet vs. phone or something? Any other ideas?
EDIT: Yeah, looking at their Web site, Opera for Tablets still has the bar on top:
http://www.opera.com/mobile/features/tablets/
Since it's presenting me with a user agent setting for "Tablet", I'm going to assume it's optimizing the experience for an Android tablet (which is what I'd want!).
I can confirm it changes when you change the LCD density. When I update cm7 and it has the 161 density it doesn't look like the picture I posted.
Hm. Must be cached somehow? Mine looks the same at 161 as it does at 187.
That could be. I always clear at minimum dalvik cache if not cache in general when updating. Does yours look like the picture?
For Opera Mobile 11.1, the "tablet" setting dumps you to mobile sites. If you want the desktop web page, set it to desktop.
Unfortunately for me, when its set to desktop, OM 11.1 - loads desktop pages super slow, renders it wrong and had problems reloading/refreshing the page.
Use Yahoo.com in desktop setting as an example, you'll see on that page as well as others the header of the page is rendered wrong and often duplicated. This forces me to use the "tablet" but I get redirected to only the mobile site.
11.1 seems to have broken speed, load, refresh. Loading hangs at about 90% complete on most pages.
Anyone found a solution for that? I have the same problem with my Galaxy Tab 7'. I did several tests, and I noticed that for DPI under 174, tablet "mode" is enabled. When I had my Galaxy tab at its original 240, tablet mode was also enabled. But I want to keep it 200, and there's no way for Opera not to think my device is a smartphone.
I've found that this setting shoud be possible to customize within "opera:config" page. That should be the "Left-handed UI" (possibly because in tablet layout, the Opera button stays on the left). But changing that has no effect in my case.
My temporary solution has been to uninstall Opera 11.1 and reinstall the buggy 11.0. That one, at least, doesn't take half my screen with opera interface.
I'm still looking for solutions to this. If you find a solution, please post here =)

I not only tried, but it's my default browser! =)
but when things get heavy, with long searches, many tabs opened and heavy websites, no one beats Opera...
I found what helped was turning off Opera Turbo. But its not the browser hanging, its the ad-server that's serving the ads which may be slow to render a non-desktop browser sized ad. But that is only a guess.

[APP] [SHARE] JB Aspect free cropping

I found it on SII forum.I tested it on CM and stock.
Here is Original Link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2222518
This is an small app that lets you crop an image freely when trying to set the wallpaper or lock screen background.
In the Jelly Bean stock and stock-based ROMs, is not possible to properly set the home and lock screen wallpapers, due to a nice new feature of keeping the crop box aspect fixed to a square, but the area to be cropped is a smaller rectangle.
When trying to set the lock screen wallpaper with a portrait image, the always squared crop box touches the lateral borders of the image, forcing you to select a much smaller area -possibly scaling the picture-, and thus leaving us in a less than optimal situation, unhappy with our powerful pocket computer that could do much better with such a trivial task.
This lazily done app comes as an option when you try to set a wallpaper, and just calls the stock Gallery app with a crop action without the aspectX and aspectY parameters that lock the aspect of the crop box.
Note: This app needs the stock Gallery or Note 2 Gallery.
UPDATE:
2013/16/22 [v1.51]
- Fixed character encoding error in image paths.
- Other minor fixes.
2013/06/09 [v1.5]
- Prevents hiding part of wallpaper behind status bar.
- Lock screen wallpaper can be cropped to any size.
- Can work with AOSP's Gallery.
- Launcher icon with settings for some of the above features.
- Fixed screen rotation bugs.
If wallpaper scrolling is enabled, it's better to select an squared area or wider, or else you will see black bars to the sides or a scaled image. This version lets you choose what happens in that case.
2013/05/06
- Works with Quickpic.
- Better lockscreen wallpaper size (checks status bar height).
- Home screen wallpaper maximum width is 960; minimum is 800.
- Checks if lockscreen wallpaper is writable. If not, S2 Gallery handles it.
2013/05/05
- Handles all lock screen wallpaper process. Works on Note 2 Gallery.
MAY NEED ROOT. This works by saving the image directly to the Gallery data folder.
- Lock screen crop box is fixed to match the screen.
- No lateral black bars in home screen.
- Signed. You must uninstall the previous version before trying to install this one.
- Kick ass icon.
2013/04/23
- Processes and sets Home wallpaper to prevent zooming.
- Checks whether the Gallery activity exists.

Tilt sensor is really screwing up

So the phone is randomly rotating 90 degrees for no reason. Some times it cooperates, sometimes it's just spazzing out tilting back and forth rapidly, or refusing to go back to portrait at all. It's all over the place.
I am rooted and running busybox. Is there a module or any kind of app that I can use to assign a quick 90 degree rotate button to? Not an annoying drop down menu or anything that requires multiple presses. I'd love to just use a button in the digital navigation bar that would immediately rotate. I cant find any such function though.

Edit: If that doesn't work, I use Xtended NavBar. It adds "pages" to your navigation bar and you can choose which toggles you'd like to have.

I grabbed the app and did the re-calibrate option. We'll see how it goes.
Edit: Nope, if anything it's worse now. Just watched it flip 6 times in a row, while holding it perfectly still.
Nope, sorry Xtended NavBar also doesn't work with this ROM it seems. Maybe it doesn't like the type of NavBar the phone uses.

Unfortunately, I can't think of anything else except either doing a factory reset or restoring an older backup from when everything was fine.
I am trying this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.androgames.level&hl=en
And holy hell, at first the bubble was just going in all random directions. Numbers were instantly going from 0 to 25 and such. Just possessed. Calibration and reset did nothing. Then I decided to go to recents, and hit the wipe brush to clear all. Instantly cured the sensor issues. Can a background process somehow be corrupting the sensor? I'm just hoping this is a software issue and not a hardware issue.
Edit: I've also completely uninstalled GravityBox and busybox. Maybe they were an issue. We'll see. If it still happens, I hope I can pinpoint the background app causing the issue by eliminating them one at a time in recent apps.
It turns out that clearing recent apps isn't fixing it after all. I just sat and stared at bubble level while tilting and it literally took 45 full seconds before it suddenly realized it was tilted. Its like the tilt sensor just goes to sleep randomly.
Edit: Ok I'm using this now https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate&hl=en
I set forced landscape and forced portrait modes to two different shortcut actions via the NavBar thanks to GravityBox. It'd be ideal if I could just make only one button that flips between the two modes, but this will do. I also disabled the notification from the rotate app because it was annoying. It seems fine without it.

For me this did not actually change the orientation but instead made a Portrait App full width (and vertically scrollable)... but when it goes into full screen mode after you open a specific Magazine I just got a black screen (it one of the Cooking Magazines - in this case Donna Hay, I think Jamie Oliver's app is the same platform).
My Wife wants to use the View in the Kitchen to check mags etc, but if we are stuck without either:
- Allowing Screen Rotation for Portrait Apps and/or
- Allowing Full Width (and vertically scrollable) for Portrait Apps
....you end up with a very had to read Vertical App with Wide Black Bars in the middle of the Landscape screen
I've also tried a bunch of the Rotation Apps which just don't work.

Don't bother. It does not work to force a rotation change.

i'm not on a custom rom, it's the original that's rooted.
@ Altuve
By no means am i an expert on android so i will not give advice on how to to install Xposed, There's tons of info on google to do it.
jmone mention that the orientation didn't change, he/she may be right as i said i'm no expert.
before the tablet was rooted i used netguard to block all connections and BK disabler to disable all the bloatware ...... BK disabler always open in portrait mode but now it's rooted it opens in landscape with the module, its not perfect but it works for me.
post a few apps that open portrait mode and ill see if they work with the module. I don't come here often so be patient.
Hey Kafinal, can you post a screen shot of your Galaxy View in portrait mode on a internet browser, such as Chrome or Firefox?
Thanks for your time.
Hello, did anybody manage to make the rotation work? I have only managed to root the device (original Samsung image 5.1), changed /system/build.prop rotation prop from ro.sf.hwrotation=180 to ro.sf.hwrotation=90, most apps seems to work well in portrait mode (full screen), but I have to use OTG mouse to control it as touch input works like it is still in landscape mode. I'm searching for any information if there is other way to rotate the screen or if there is any way to change touch input settings so it will revert axis to work properly.

Not sure what to say here... I followed my instructions and was able to position it just fine.
One thing I can say is if you message the Dev, he's very responsive (he's even here on XDA (https://forum.xda-developers.com/m/jagan2.1884109/)) so you can message him and see if there is something he can help with.
I'll keep poking around and see if there was anything else I can think of that I did. I'll uninstall and reinstall to see if that can replicate what you are seeing and what I did to fix it.
Found the issue, my screen resolution is set to FHD+ and not WQHD+
If I change it to WQHD+ it's fine. I'll inform the dev.
Cheers.
