Question Find N root - Oppo Find N

Given the pain of trying to make this phone somewhat functional and something that resembles the level of customisation that I am used to I am thinking I might attempt to root my device. I am pretty sure by doing so I can get Android Auto working, utilise a better launcher along with change my default sms / dialler and then hopefully also shut down a lot of the other limiting Oppo Security functions.
I am just wondering whether anybody has installed a custom recovery and rooted their Find N yet?
The only functionality I am worried about breaking would be my mobile payments / banking apps, but I am 99% sure there are ways to avoid this..
Any help / advice is greatly appreciated!

Interested to see how you get on with this

The main issue I see is that Google Pay would likely stop working on a rooted device; and whilst I can deal with Android Auto not working (though a deal breaker for some), and I'm pretty happy with the default launcher and default dialer/sms apps, etc.; not having Google Pay working would be a deal breaker for me.

Before doing the root, we need to have the boot.img file so it can be patched. The issue I encounter is that I didn't find it anywhere. Has anyone managed to find the official Find N firmware yet?

Ok and its an old version but i Saw those links onnanother websites (kiné ofnarabic one) but cant found anymore

I tried with the Oplus Upgrade Tool but i cant find downgrade option or link

That's a shame. Not sure how to get an invite...

I purchased an invitation code and got access to the site, however the file is actually for an OPPO A93, haha. Hopefully they respond to my post with an accurate link

Thanks konkoro! I actually managed to get a copy of this last night. Also, was it you who just responded via email to my request to ask for it to be uploaded? If so I really appreciate your efforts in organising that..
I have managed to extract the boot.img from this firmware (along with a previous version), although I am still trying to confirm that they are actually for the Find N (peum00). Details within the firmware suggest that it might not be (although I realistically do not know what I am looking at / for..) Also, my phone doesn't recognise this firmware when I attempt to locally upload it for a software update, but I understand that could be because I could be already on a later release of it. However, both of the firmware files names don't appear to match in any way (or even seem similar) to what the device says it has installed
Are you able to confirm with certainty that this is in fact firmware for the Oppo Find N - peum00?
Thanks again!

No, I found it by chance and just informed.
I'm not sure whether it's a real.

Yeah I can see that.. My confusion is due to a couple of things, but as I was discussing with you the other day - I just want to be 100% certain
Realistically the dates of the firmware look right (mentioned within the name), the firmware also references the Qualcomm SM8350 processor which is reassuring. However it does also mention Samsung a lot.. (Quite possibly referring to other hardware within the phone though). Also as mentioned above, my phone doesn't recognise it, but that is probably due to other reasons.
Realistically until someone figures out how to unlock the bootloader the firmware isn't much use yet anyway.. However once this can be done, it will be critical that it is the correct firmware so the right boot.img can be patched / flashed to prevent bricking the device.

Yes it’s 100% for PEUM00.
Regard SM8350.. are you trying with firehose..? Oppo has used sign firehose so you can’t use with other model firehose and it’s also have to be same hash.

Awesome
Yeah I have looked, but I cannot find a signed SM8350 / PEUM00 / Oppo firehose file anywhere. I think this is where the root process is likely to stall for a while (if not forever )

Unfortunately there's a bit more to it than that. That setting is pretty much irrelevant these days, as Oppo / Qualcomm have disabled the ability to be able to unlock the bootloader in the traditional fashion.
Here is a great article on the situation we are faced with: https://lineageos.org/engineering/Qualcomm-Firmware/

Damn, I read the article and in fact, it is almost impossible to unlock the bootloader.
But I was reading the step-by-step "How to Install Magisk on your Android Phone" document (maybe a "little" outdated) on https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-magisk/ and that left me thinking: what if we decompress the OFP firmware file, patch the boot.img file using Masgisk app, create again the OFP firmware and flash it again the OFP using the Realme Flash Tool?
Do you think this is doable?
I was able to decompress the OFP file and patch the boot.img file, but I didn't search how to compress again the files into OFP format.

X10 Rooting General Inquiries and FAQ; Civilian/Non-Dev Discussion Thread

After being part of the problem in cluttering up the Rooting threads, I figured that many people don't know where to ask questions.
GENERAL INFO:
Please direct all information-related inquiries to this thread for discussion.
The purpose of the current development thread is for developers to share information, the rest of us can discuss here.
For those that are unaware, "Rooting essentially gives you total control over the OS. You can add/remove programs/files from the device that are locked, flash custom roms, recovery images, themes, backup installed apps and lots of other things.
**EDIT**
Apologies on not updating the thread, as stated earlier...if anyone wants to edit this top post, just send me a PM and i'll amalgamate and post up.
FAQ:
What is ROOT?:
Rooting essentially gives you total control over the OS. You can add/remove programs/files from the device that are locked, flash custom roms, recovery images, themes, backup installed apps and lots of other things. (As Stated Above)
How do we get ROOT for the X10?:
There are alot of developers working on cracking the X10; Sony put a lot of work into locking the X10 down.
There are many ways to root your X10 now, and including several one-touch apps that will root for you.
Does ROOTING unlock my X10?:
No it does not.
I have an X10a (or X10i), can I use the X10i (X10a) method to ROOT?
Short Answer is no; the files are different. Don't be so lazy and follow instructions.
The ROOT didn't work, what can I do?
Here's the thing, if it's bricked/non-working...search the forums, chances are there's someone out there that has done what you've done and the issue may already be solved. ONLY POST A NEW TOPIC IF THERE IS ZERO INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR SITUATION.
When looking for info; here is a good place to start:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711969
Can I put newer versions of Android on my X10 after ROOT?
You sure can, but unless you know how to cook the rom yourself...you'll just have to wait like the rest of us. Keep your eyes peeled and wait for the good stuff to start popping up.
Thnx for the summary very much appreciated
Thanks for the update. Definitely making progress.
Flashing via SETool does require additional software and file.

Good job to the developers here at XDA... Now I'm crossing my fingers for a 2.1 Custom Rom with all the moxier stuff taken out as well as Timescape..
what and all can we expect from rooting ... pros and cons...
heard nexus got multi touch after rooting ...
is our x10 hardware capable of multitouch ?
anyway in general what can we expect ... features... you know while they are at work , we can dream of great stuffs to hit x10 ....
X10 cannot do multitouch, the hardware is incapable.
The main advantage root should give us is to be able to load custom ROMs onto the device, to get Android 2.1 now and 2.2 when it comes out.

even without true multitasking i would expect at least pinch to zoom. i have a feeling phone suffers from the same problem as nexus one, g1 and the sapphire. it can not distinguish the two sets of coordinates. it might associate thumb1's x to thumb2's y and visa versa. this does not allow it true multitouch but pinch to zoom would work since the motion is away from each other.

Hey,
Got a couple of questions I'm hoping one of you can help with.
Got an X10 obviously and access to EMMAIII. What I can do is flash the X10 with a very early release of firmware which has root access.
My question really is are there any custom ROMs available?

The only one is the one jerpelea made, which is still based on the stock 1.6 rom, but is rooted and has some apps removed. It's on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681886
When everyone has root access, developers will probably start trying to create a 2.1 or 2.2 rom if we have to wait untill after froyo is released. We could do this by looking at nexus one roms, and taking drivers from it - although the camera is different etc.
I've stickied this thread. Hopefully it will help users see it to stop cluttering of this forum

You can't.
SEUS will flash only signed files.
Latest info: Unsigned flash in X10 protected by rsa 2048 algo.
Jerpelea seems to be lying about root.

If you have the Original Product Code yes .
You can flash relevant stock rom or branded rom .
2-in the dev section there is a thread about all roms and kernels and it has some CsCs . does these ones need any specific things to work properly (like specific fimrware, kernel....etc)
You flash a full firmware to either match your existing or a later one for an upgrade .
You pick CSC to match area of phone use .

Original product code on the box under the battery .
Rooting opens up the OS to give more user rights means user can backup full rom and use programs that require root . But until you need root dont bother as it invalidates warranty though root can be removed .

Simple Answer: The first rule of rooting: if you have to ask why you should do it, don't do it.
Complex Answer: As JJEgan stated, it gives you more freedom to do what you want to do. For example manipulating system files (for themeing, firewalls, adblocking, etc), flashing custom roms and more. But with this freedom comes great responsibility. Since you can do anything, you can do anything wrong thus damaging your phone or bricking it (making it unusable). And by that we arrive again at the first rule of rooting...
On a side note: please don't take this the wrong way but you shouldn't hijack a thread that has nothing to do with your question. Search the forums if it has been asked already and then post in the appropriate thread or open a new one.

[Q] Advice on Atrix 4G Root/Unlock/ROM

I know there are a thousand threads on Rooting/Unlocking and Custom ROM's for the Atrix, because I've spent the last 3 days reading every one I could find. However, most of them appear to be very dated and often conflicting. As I'm coming to the game a little late I was hoping for some assistance on how to proceed.
Here's what I have;
AT&T Motorola Atrix 4G (I bought this new under contract, kept it for 2 years, upgraded to another phone and this one has been a paperweight for the past 18 months) AT&T will give me an unlock code if I ask, but I'm a little confused by the conflicting reports on whether to do it this way or not.
It's an MB860
FW Version 4.5.141
OS Version 2.3.6
Baseband N_01.77.37P
Webtop WT-1.2.0-110_OLY-6
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9
Build 4.5.141
I'd like to Unlock it so I can run a Foreign SIM card, I'd like to Root it so I can add non-approved apps, and I'd like to play with some ROM's, Redpill has some very good user reviews so I'm thinking of giving it a try but I'm not stuck on it.
Obviously don't want to brick the phone, so any advice would be appreciated, the more detailed the better
I have Windows 8.1, Mac OS X, and Windows XP-SP3 computers to work with.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
While certain threads are (or might seem) outdated and/or conflicting, there are also other threads that serve as a kind of index of the most current methods and procedures. That should help you get around. Plus there are threads and guides written especially for noobs...
Yes, the code from AT&T is the safest and simplest way to do SIM unlock. Only important point here is that the device must be running the official Moto/AT&T firmware at the time of unlock. I'm not sure what kind of "conflicting information" you came across, to my knowledge nobody who's used the code as described never had any problems.
As for rooting, regardless of the variant or firmware version of your device, the preinstall method is the one to use. By far the most universal, plus personally and generally I dislike any "automatic", "one-click" or similar methods - for me at least they are usually more trouble than they're worth.
As for playing with ROMs, you first need to unlock your BL, then install a custom recovery, and then you have a shot at ROMs. So quite a wide topic with plenty enough threads created on the subject, so no point in repeating what's already said countless times. By the time you're done with other things mentioned (SIM unlock, rooting) you should be able to find your way around.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've requested an unlock code from AT&T, should be good to go in 48 hours.
In the mean time, is it important that I have it unlocked before I root, or will it matter?
Update
I realize this may seem to be off-topic but I'm not asking for assistance with this newest update, I'm only using the experience to help clarify my concerns about the Atrix.
Waiting for my requisite 24 hours before unlocking the SIM on my Moto Atrix. While I'm waiting i decided to gain a little experience by rooting a Galaxy S5570 and installing a custom Rom.
Like the Atrix there are dozens if not hundreds of threads, videos, tutorials etc for how to accomplish this. I found the most recent one I could that seemed to be a complete tutorial and it was dated from January of this year (much newer than any threads I've found on the Atrix BTW)
Rooting went fine. Confirmed with a Root Test app.
Loaded a CWM 6.0.4.5 recovery package as instructed and ended up bricking the phone. By all accounts this tutorial was for the exact model of phone with the exact same FW and Android version.
This is no big loss as it was a cheap phone that I wasn't using anyway, but it certainly opened my eyes to the risks involved in attempting this procedure on the more costly Atrix.
I'd really appreciate if anyone could point me in the direction of a current procedure for Rooting, Unlocking the Bootloader and installing a custom ROM on the Atrix with the specs from my Original Post. If any of you have the same phone and had success following a particular procedure I would greatly appreciate some links.
I know how forums work, and I know there are always the guys that reply RTFM to every noobs questions, as someone with technical skills in other areas I can generally tell the difference between someone who just doesn't want to bother doing the Due Diligence and someone who is struggling to sort through the myriad solutions to find the one that's right. I really don't want to brick this phone so any pointed advice would be greatly appreciated.

Meanwhile you have ROMs all over the place here in the Atrix 4G section of xda that you are not going to go download, rather you are going to request a ROM for the phone instead. Head over to the development section and download a ROM instead of requesting the necessary resources that are already available to you.

Google play services not working, can't find a ROM [Huawei Enjoy 5s (TAG-AL00)]

I bought a phone in mainland China (Huawei Enjoy 5s, TAG-AL00). I found out the hard way that they actually set the phone up so google won't work on it. First thing I did was try the APK download, this doesn't work however, it seems that I need a new ROM to get get rid of the Chinese stuff they put on it.
I searched around online, I found essentially no information to help me. The best I've found is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/huawei-enjoy-5-tit-al00-install-google-t3274461
However as you can see the model number is slightly different and the TAG-AL00 has come up a couple of times in this the above thread but there haven't been any answers as to whether or not the ROM will work on the TAG-AL00 model. The TIT-AL00 is called Enjoy 5, so the model name is similar, I am sceptical however as the model number is different. Also the GR3 models have the model number TAG-something (no something = AL00 though).
I have asked anyone who has the TAG-AL00 if they managed to get it working, no replies however.
Similarly for this thread which is specific to the model I have, no solutions however.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/huawei-enjoy-5s-tag-al00-install-google-t3360697
I have no idea if the TIT-AL00 ROM would work on the TAG model. I am willing to give it a go and see, since there seems to be few other options. What sort of consequences would I expect if it is not compatible? Would it be possible for me to do this and recover the phone if things went badly?
I've found only this ROM download, however since this appears to be the official ROM and to my knowledge the TAG-AL00 model only seems to be available in China, the ROM may well still block google anyway.

Would creating my own custom ROM be a viable option, or maybe my only option? I've had a look at this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801690
I'm a N00B when it comes to this, I've never rooted an android device before. The closest i've come to something related was flashing Raspian to and SD card when setting up a RaspberryPi. Creating a custom ROM is definitely something I'd want to get into though, so maybe this would be a better option anyway?
Given the lack of responses surrounding the TAG-AL00 model, I'm not expecting any solutions. But perhaps someone could maybe point me in the best direction, or give some general advice (for a N00B who has never rooted an android) on what I could do to get google services working on this device.

4G+ (Carrier Aggregation) files?

Hello! I saw for many times one post explaining how to unlock 4G+ on mido (check link: http://en.miui.com/thread-692389-1-1.html). But someone didn't respect developer's work and he closed the project. Now I want to apply it on my mido, but I can't download the files because he closed the project (and I can't have them on Wayback machine, because MIUI Forum requires sign in to download files and with Wayback Machine I'm not able to sign in. The question is: Does anyone still have the files? Thank you!
PS: I want Carrier Aggregation for B3+B7 (European user here )

It didnt work, was showing LTE+ but it was not aggregating in reality.
I think i exhausted the methods for unlocking bands, and it shows their unlocked but the phone doesnt connect on the new bands.
So i was browsing his thread and downloaded one of his qcn, saved to my computer from back in the day. I cant post it now but ill look later. The thing is that so many people said it didn't work, he closed the thread. In my tests band unlocking doesnt work. Even if someone can post all four version of his qcn, none probably let the phone connect and use the unlocked bands.
So just to go full circle here, im saying that unlocking bands and the dude's Carrier Aggregation doesn't work.

Oh really? If you see the photos there is the indication of 2 carriers. There is also another way (https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/how-to/experimental-enabling-2xca-support-t3759933) but it isn't working because there isn't aggregation. But I can be wrong, idk...
