Question Will there be a aosp custom rom for the realme gt 2 pro? - Realme GT 2 Pro

Just thinking about buying the gt2 pro but currently using the F3 with a huge development support. Will be there in the future, this phone had a custom aosp roms?

google experience is working

This is also a huge question for me. I'm stuck on a S21+ now which, being a Samsung, obviously has no development. I want a phone that will actually have some custom ROMs like the OnePlus 10 Pro probably will. However, the GT2 Pro is just a cheaper OP10P with a much prettier design so yeah.. I hope and pray the GT2 Pro gets custom ROM's and some dedicated devs.

You'd better forget that. It's Realme, not Oneplus. I'm interested in this phone too but this company is not doing right. And as Realme, OnePlus and Oppo are all the same, I fear the worst for the future.

You can't unlock bootloader, only chinese version

Any company, even RealMe can be persuaded by public opinion if there is enough.

Bootloader is unlockable for all versions now. I think it's just a matter of time until we get an AOSP rom.

I need to pay about 700 bucks for that device now, from 619€ and 639€ with watch and tablet. Strange but now I will wait for next gen

9 months later and still no custom roms?

Now that the device is about 350€ we might get some love... Also bootloader can be opened...
ColorOS is not bad at all but lacks A LOT of optimization and bug fixes...

Newbie Planning To Get Moto Z

Hi guys, I am planning to get Moto Z and price is 200$ about. Do you think it is worth getting it now? I don't want to spend much money since it's a secondary device for me.
Also, I noticed it has many variants. Which variant is good for custom ROM, Unlock BL and Root support?
So far, I came across XT1650-05, XT1650-01, XT1650-03 etc

It`s the same phone. Difference is the software update channel. 05 - China, 03 - EU and USA. Maybe some little changes in frequency, but HW the same.
Just try some google, man.
Also moto z in 2018? In the end of its lifecycle? Meh.

Same camera as that Nexus 6 of yours there.
New or used? If it's used you might wanna get a battery replacement for it, the Nougat 7.0 update kinda overstressed the battery
I'd get the G5+ or G5S, TBH (better battery life with Snapdragon 625)

Thanks mate,
I just sold my Nexus 6 and looking for a replacement as a secondary device. I came across Moto Z, LGV20, HTC 10, Honor 8, Nexus 6P. I do not want to spend more than 200-230$ and I merely keep my secondary device for 6-9 months.
I am getting a good deal if I get XT1650-01 and I believe it is verizon model but what I came to know is that it cannot unlock BL and root. I usually customize my phones.

It's brand new if I get Verizon variant. I am not into photography that much. I am looking for a better Snapdragon processor with the good amount of RAM so that it still holds resell value in the future. If I opt for a mid-range device like Xiaomi or Huawei I am getting a good deal in 200$ but then it would not hold much resell values after 6-9 months.
PS. I see that you Malaysian too

Note 5 or Note 5 pro?

The only notable difference between the two devices seems to be the camera and processor. Camera isn't a concern for me cause I don't use it much but processor and developer support (read custom rom support) is very essential. So which one shall I buy?

If you can, you should just go directly for the 5 Pro, but stocks will be hard to come by for the coming months as it is kinda hot right now. The Note 5 does everything and isn't slow, but the 5 pro does it much better with the upgraded processor. Mostly the hardcore users would notice the performance difference from both. For day to day use, both do them quite well, as well as battery life.
Also. Even if you don't use the camera much, it will still provide better pictures for the times that you use them.
Custom Rom support would be good for this device as most Redmi users that look for an upgrade would buy this phone, chances are developers would join in too.
Overall, the 5 Pro is superior in some aspects, but the 5 Plus isn't something to scoff at either. It would depend on whether you think the upgrade is right for the price as both do quite well with their arsenal of specifications.

ROMs for Note 5 are already out while development of Note 5 Pro hadn't started the last time I checked.
Anyways I have decided to buy Note 5 Pro. I'll try my hand at porting RR if nobody else does

That's probably due to the fact that the Note 5 AKA 5 Plus has been out for a month longer before the Pro, but I'm pretty sure the Pro will catch up to the Rom supports.
Also, enjoy the 5 Pro. If only I knew they would release the 5 Pro, I would've waited, but sadly my z00a gave up on me so I had to buy the 5 Plus rather hastily.

No, I'm from PH actually. There are a lot of resellers locally and online, although ours here orders them from China directly through a supplier. It was pre installed with the fake global rom but Bootloader was unlocked so I was able to flash the EU rom.
You'd be lucky if you can buy it right now since it usually ends up out of stock. But maybe it was just in India.

Here in India we have flash sales every other week or so. Stocks last for 5-10 minutes. So in April I'll find the date and be ready at the specified time.

Most probably, since they have to install the Vendor rom which, AFAIK, would update itself automatically to the global version when it officially releases.
Well, that's good since it's an India first phone release, units would be high per restock there. Hope you get yours bud.

Pretty quick for a Xiaomi device
Great, I want to purchase a Mi 8 SE when it is available in my country and I will install LineageOS :3
Does this basically mean we are about to see a massive surge in development of custom roms and kernels for it ?

If we're lucky! It all depends on developers adopting development for the device as with every device. But price to hardware ratio I think (and hope) that it'll happen. When a good ROM comes out, this will probably be my next device!

If it's released globally, then expect a ton of Roms and kernels
example: Mi note 3 has the sources, but is China-only, so development is pretty much dead

I do expect it too as well. It's already available from several importers. However Xiaomi announced that the 'regular' Mi 8 is coming to Europe in August - no mention of the SE version though.

Kernel Source Released!!!

https://github.com/realme-kernel-opensource/realmeX50pro_AndroidQ-kernel-source
I don't know why there is no news at all on this, as far as I know it's the 2nd after Xiaomi Mi10 / Pro company to release source code for an 865 powered device. Let the kernel and ROM building begin!!!
Unfortunately I almost bought this phone but changed my mind, made many kernels for the Mi9 and Mi9T Pro K20 Pro, was going to get a Xiaomi Mi10, already built an OC kernel for it, but it's specs don't interest me for $800 just to get 600k AnTuTu. I have a Redmagic 5G instead waiting on source for that to be released.

LoL I have 2 phones already and a full time job and am the only Redmagic 5G developer pushing Nubia to release source / fix a BL unlock bug. And a second job multifamily apartment rentals. And my wife works full time. And my kid is now homeschooled because of Coronavirus. But if I manage to find some time in between all this, sure I'll download source and see if I can bake a kernel. Why not?

Android 11 Beta 1 Port for K20 Pro/Mi 9T Pro

A request to the devs to port the android 11 beta 1 build of Mi 10 for K20 Pro/Mi 9T Pro
We also wanna experience the latest android on our devices
No we don't, a port would take so much work to get headphone jack, pop up camera and everything else to work even slightly ok, it would not be anywhere close to being a daily driver but a rom to try for a hour. In good time Xiaomi will release miui 12 android 11 beta for our device just be patient.
I don't think Xiaomi's gonna provide Android 11 for K20 Pro. They've already discontinued it's production and investing more work in it won't bring them profit. Also they've got a lot of flagships. So, I don't think they'll care about this phone. They've already given one Android update, they'll settle for it.

They might not provide the beta but they certainly will a stable version once it's ready. Don't forget that the phone launched with Android 9, was a part of Android 10 beta testing and should receive one more Android update which would be 11. Xiaomi has always updated higher-end models with 2 Android versions just like every other OEM (except Google). It would be a shame if they left one of their most popular phones behind, wouldn't it?

Can be done from the Poco F2 Pro Android 11 Beta 1 easily, right?
porting isn't straight forward as you might think, not only that more than likely a new kernel would need to be compiled.
It probably won't be long till the k20 gets a proper beta release, imagine someone working on trying to port another devices firmware and doing a kernel for it and then a proper firmware gets released, it would be a waste of a devs time.
Most devs on here are concentrating on non miui roms, apart from xiaomi.eu firmwares no other miui roms are being kept upto date.

As far as I can tell they haven't released the beta for poco f2 pro yet, the other 2 phones don't have a pop up camera so porting would not be straight forward.
It's an early dev build which will be full of bugs, below are the features that android 11 will bring:
https://www.androidauthority.com/android-11-features-1085228/
A lot of these have already been done or very similar in custom aosp roms already available, if not more.
I wouldn't hold your breathe on this, it's probably not going to happen, and people will just wait for a proper k20 pro release

What a joke! By your logic, no phone should get 2 android updates because no company produce a particular phone model for 2 years. And, software updates profit them because it allows their royal customers happy and stick to their brand. Otherwise, they will just buy another brand with better software update. Lastly, there isn't many redmi flagships, k20 pro, k30 pro/zoom. That's it.
Even midrange Mi A2 lite got 2 android updates.
Xiaomi has pretty good record of giving updates and I am 100% sure that K20 pro will get android 11.

It's not my logic, it's Xiaomi's, so far as my observation.
Besides, the ones you're calling "Royal" customer, K20 pro is a budget flagship. The customers for this are anything but "Royal".
Mi A2 lite got the update probably because of its long lifespan.
Again, I don't have any problem if Xiaomi provides another Android update. I'm just skeptical they'll do so.
