The mk III series was infamous for that.
The screen has a green tint in general, the white balance isn't perfectly D65. I still need to calibrate the white point. But there's no additional tint when I turn the brightness all the way down.
EDIT: After messing with the white balance I can see why they made the factory white balance so green. There is a serious bug and tinting the whole screen green hides the problem. Full thread detailing the problem here.

there's quite a difference between standard mode an creator mode. The former is more "cold" so with lower back light it looks like grey/blue but it is not a tint, just a dim colour
Pixel 4 had the green tint issue. If I recall correctly, it was related to the high refresh rate.
I do. It's super annoying. Aside from generally having a green tint, it's pretty bad at low brightness. It's very distracting
@zpk787 i had the issue, but it seems to have gone away after tweeking the white balance settings.
I have my phone set to standard mode with auto creator mode on for image quality, and then try your white balance to the attached image.

That's pretty interesting, thanks. I want to buy the 10 IV - skipped on the 10 III due to the screen issues, but there's nothing better on the market anyway and my current phone is way too old now so I'll just have to deal with it. Zenfone 9 is interesting, but it's gonna suffer from the same battery/heat issues as all sd 8 phones.

Today whilst takin' pics of my son, i noticed whilst pointing the camera down at my cream coloured carpet a pink hue was clearly visible in the centre of the shot. I took a snap and the hue was on definitely there... this was during the day time with only ambient light from my large bay windows...
slowly panning up across the room towards the window it seems to fade away, but directly at the light surface its unmissable...
I double checked the shot on my partners DHD, her shot was completely pink, very poor camera!!
Anyone elses S2 suffering from this? a quick google search shows this has also been an issue on other handsets such as the Nexus One and Samsung Focus...

if someone more have the classic tint pink of cheap cameras like other HTCs I am going to cancel my order inmediately.

just to add, this has been the only time ive noticed this issue, shots taken across the room show no visible signs of this, just the straight shot...
tbh, with the quality of all the other shots ive taken, its not a deal breaker for me, this phone still blows away any other ive used, and i don't find blank white walls/carpets interesting enough to take photos of...

That sure looks like something I read about some HTC phone a while back. I'll need to check my phone to see. I wonder if it's software or hardware related.
after some testing i believe this is a software issue, specifically with the AUTO White Balance setting, as i point it to the cloudy sky out the window it looks perfect and when switched to incandescent it goes away!!
like i said before, i don't make a habit of shooting my carpet or my white walls very often!

EDIT: when switched to Daylight mode, it also goes away, although it makes the carpet look orange for obvious reasons... Definitely a White Balance issue, the lighting and colour of the carpet requires the correct setting as opposed to the Auto mode, outside or with good lighting the Auto setting is fine! as far as i'm concerned, panic over! lol

That it isn't a white balance issue, it is a hardware problem. HTC got the same problems on a lot of devices before, and they tried to hide it tweaking the colors, but that doesnt solve the real problem.
If I were you I will return the phone for another one.

then why when i switch to the correct WB setting for the lighting i'm in does the issue disappear?? the issue only arrises in Auto mode under certain lighting conditions. just took a white sheet outside on Auto - No issue!

Maybe in a non-auto mode they know the color temperature that software will apply to the image and then they can tweak the pink tint of the image, but with an auto mode that changes dinamically the color grade they cant adjust the pink tint.
I really dont know, but all of the pink tints problems in all other phones are hardware related issues, I don't know why this is going to be different.
i get exactly what you are saying, but i'm only going by what i'm working out on my device...
at the end of the day, like i said before, its not a deal breaker for me, and ive not had a single issue with it in other lighting conditions...
Also, ive just walked around my room allowing the camera to adjust dynamically, and it does disappear!! i have a standing lamp on, a small window on the opposite wall, and the large bay window at the front of the room, the pink hue is not permanent and is just the Auto WB not being perfect.
Its even visible on video, so i'll upload a vid of the pink disappearing as i walk around the room and the light changes dynamically! Auto WB issue for sure!!

A pink hue like you describe usually means infrared contamination, and happens on any camera to varying degree. Some black clothing in direct sunlight suffers the most.

I'm just uploading a video to Youtube 720p - WB AUTO
You can clearly see the pink hue fading in and out as the phone auto adjusts to the varying lighting in my home, namely Incandescent light fittings, Fluorecent light fittings and daylight outside.
If i set the camera to a setting for one of those lighting conditions specifically, there is no issue in said condition.
I will update this post when its uploaded with the link - THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT HUE CAUSED BY HARDWARE - ITS SOFTWARE STRUGGLING WITH THE LIGHTING CONDITION!! - phew!!

EDIT: the hue becomes very apparent after pointing the camera and any of the light sources directly then quickly moving to a white surface, it then gradually adjusts away...

I doubt Samsung will use the low quality camera sensor that HTC uses buddy.

not sure its the same buddy, it appears in the centre of the image and fades out, i'm 100% certain that this issue is WB/lighting condition related, 10mins and the link will be up if your interested...

I can't agree more there, you should have seen the same shot on the Desire HD, the carpet was entirely pink!! not just a spot in the middle..

BTW I just checked my phone and observed the same situation as described by Dickie. After checking for myself I'm certain it's software related. They may need to tweak their auto white balance algorithm.

Mine is whites are pure white at any angle even at the lowest brightness.
Can anybody else see the yellow tint, if they can it must be a faulty display or maybe you need a firmware upgrade, I dont know.

It could be a defective screen. There are some settings that effect the color temperature of the screen. Play with those to see if it helps.
Under Settings>Display>Background Effect, see what's checked and play with the different choices to see if it helps.
Under Settings>Display, see if Auto adjust screen power is checked. Toggle it back and forth and see what that does.
If it still yellow, exchange the phone. If anything, whites tend to run toward a blueish not yellow tint.

I think s/he's saying its the entire screen. That's been reported a few times. Sadly, there seems to be big variations in the color temperatures of the screen from phone to phone.

yes, that is the entire screen, not just part / a section of it.....
the color tone become quite yellow for the whole screen when the brightness is set to 0-20%, but when I set it to >20% brightness, seems there is no such problem.
I think the quality of Samsung screen is very various ....>.<

I'm returning a SG2 because of it's low brightness and slightly over the top blue hue from viewing angles.
I compared it to my SG2 and it's solid whites from all viewing angles and twice the brightness of the faulty one on the lowest brightness setting.
Checked the settings, made no difference. Compare to a number of SG2, and then you'll know if your phone has a problem with its display.
Not sure where to ask this, so here goes. Picked up a Z Play for my wife and it's great. Then picked up a Z for myself and while it looks and runs great, there seems to be a definite green tint to the screen when viewed off-center. And I don't mean 30-40 degrees off, but as slight as 5-10 degree off center, in any direction and it has a definite green tint, regardless of brightness setting. Previous AMOLED phones for either of us never had issues until extreme angles, and her Z Play is far better, not turning green til about 40-50 degrees, which is what I would expect.
Is this common or an issue? It's only been a few days, so I can go change it if it's a known issue of any kind. I guess I can also go compare it to display phones.
Mine doesn't appear to have this issue, perhaps a slightly noticeable change when 40° off but not at 5/10.

Me neither, nothing remarkable happening when tilting it in either direction.
When the Moto Razr XT910 was new, there were many reports of varying panel quality problems, such as strong green or yellow tints
They did get new phones when they returned them, as it was a quality issue, could be the same thing now.
If I'm not mistaken, those with lots of green had field/cloud faults when viewing a black image in a dark room at full backlight, as they failed to reach zero brightness.
It was described as the pixels leaking electrons to surrounding pixels.
Viewing angles on the Z is worse than my old Moto X 2014 for sure, but it's probably due to the smaller pixels.
Nothing beats the old HTC One M7 though, that thing never faded, but it had an IPS screen.
However, in standard colour mode, it's heavily yellowish to reddish (some would call it warm colour temp)
In dynamic it's closer to white, but with a strong nudge to the blue spectrum.
Can't wait to get the custom colour temperature setting with Android 7.0!

However, I have seen a lot of complaints about the green screen problem. Can you tell me if this is a software or hardware problem?

hardware. lots of oleds have this issue to varying degrees. it's only noticable on mine at the absolute dimmest setting and most noticable on mid to dark gray backgrounds. bump up the screen brightness even a hair and it completely disappears. hope that helps

this is incorrect.
I can see it on the bottom of my phone's screen when the color is grey and with low brightness level (5-10%). I rarely use it with that low brightness level, so that doesn't bother me.

I noticed it with no blue light filter enabled. It's happen more often with dark mode because most apps will use grey colors as background, and this color makes the green tint issue visible.
Yeah ive seen it also, i stopped using darkmode because of it. The thing what annoyed me more is the blurr and transformation of the shape when scrolling a grey bar/shape over a blackish background. I found the greys disapointing coming of a cheap phone but with good lcd screen. Watching media was more enjoyable on old phone. Sold it after a week.

I havent seen a thread related to display issues. In 2 german Forums I found threads about various issues. From Color fade, to overall greenish tint or flickering screens.
Sadly I am very picky with display stuff and my Display isnt perfect either. I mostly use relatively low brigthness settings (around 30-40%) and on dark mode especially the settings menu has a color fade from dark grey to dark blue. This cant be seen on any other color.
Its easy to see in a dark room, the brighter the room the lesser you will notice.
To easier check: use telegram, with its blueish theme its definitely way stronger fading there...
For a phone thats 649€ in germany thats unacceptable for me. My P5 has a slight warmish but perfectly even colored display and thats what I expect from a P6.
What about you? Can anyone check their display if thats a common issue?

Even when booting when everything is white, I always have multiple changes between white and blue in the display.
I'm at work, I try to take a picture when I get home.

Similar issues with my screen, also from Germany.
My first OLED screen had been with the Galaxy Note 1 and I hated it for its issues. Always bought devices with LCD screens afterwards.
The Pixel 6 is my first OLED phone since and it is having pretty much the same issues my Note had 10 years ago
Great phone so far (Android is still a bit buggy), but the display is quite a disappointment for me personally, at least for brightness levels below ~50%...
Is it just me or are most of these issues regarding the display coming from Germany? Please can people state what country the device was purchased from if they have this issue

I just finished chatting with Google's support.
They are going to replace the phone, but I'm still waiting for their email with instructions.
But first they walked me through some superficial settings (disabling Dark Mode and some accessibility stuff, like Color Inversion...) and then tried to talk it off as a normal property of OLED displays, which I didn't accept to this extent. But hey, that's probably just Google's policy.
Let's see if this was just bad luck in the OLED lottery.
For me its too difficult to take a picture with dark screen. The color change is slightly less than the picture from @man1acc
But i have problems with white color, it is light grey and i have green stripes on white, this is also very very difficult to make a picture.
Here you can see it a bit, but in real life it is much stronger

I have some rainbow effect which is mostly noticeable on white backgrounds. Hard to capture but found it is quite noticeable with an external light source. In this case my monitor. Anyone else have this or more importantly for a RMA, don't have it?
Pixel 6 when on a black background the right side of the display has a green tint shadow effect kinda worrying as it's not present on the left side and seems to only appear on darker backgrounds like when pull notification tab down or in a app (like xda) with black background very noticeable , or is this just standard now for Oled displays it's not the first phone I've noticed this over the years just curious if any pixel 6 owners see similar or should I get it exchange ? Added pic not sure if shows that well though

Not normal. Each pixel is controlled individually.
It maybe hardware or firmware.
Sounds like the display control matrix wasn't designed properly or is defective.
Your screenshot isn't showing it so neither should the display!

Unfortunately not true. If it's an issue with the display, a screenshot should never show it. But it can be visible when a picture of it is taken.
My Pixel 6 (right) was bought first day from the Google Store. I'm in the USA. It has a very strong dirty red tint at the bottom and a garish green at the top. Easily visible at 60-70% brightness and lower. Here it is compared to my Pixel 4a (left), shot on my 3a. Haven't had uniformity issues this bad since my OG Pixel (which got replaced).
Waited to chat with a support rep for an hour, chatted for another hour, and have an RMA device ordered and on the way.

That was a joke id never cross to the dark side lol and tint only seems visible when in certain dark mode apps and not actually navigating around the phone xda app is worse lol so don't think hardware issue tbh
