Question S22+ vs Note9 Bloatware Removal - Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus

Just ordered a new S22+. Existing phone is a Note9. When I first got the Note9 I followed some advice on this forum and disabled a ton of bloatware using ADB Fastboot. Been happy with the results and want to do the same for the S22+.
Are there any changes or gotchas to be aware of regarding the S22+ and bloatware removal?
I know things can change over the years and I want to be sure of any differences in the two phones that might necessitate a different strategy for the S22+.
Thanks,
DC

Use ADB Appcontrol..very good and can enable anything you disable with a click

Thank you for that info. Wasn't aware of that software. Looks like just what I need.

No root at the end of the tunnel

I was just wondering why all the other phones have roots except for the Galaxies?
Some say it is because the providers are locking the bootloader. The question is; are those providers locking the Galaxy bootloader only?
Does anyone think this will make people move from Galaxy to other [rootable] models?
Honestly, this is the first Samsung phone in where I don't think you need root. They allow themes, it's awesome on battery, runs really smoothly, and offers a ton of features that work well. The only reason I ever modded my phone was to increase the longevity and add to it's features... something I haven't really needed on this phone. So I doubt it. I hope they come out with Oreo soon...

Just FYI but if you did a search here on XDA you'd discover that the Snapdragon S8 has had root for a few months now. It's doubtful that we'll see an unlocked bootloader though. Search is your friend!

Thanks for the input. I saw the root, however, I'm debating whether to root or not. The version listed there is older than what we have. And, like Mr. eatmeimadanish mentioned I haven't had a need for rooting so far. It's just I miss the nice ROMs that different people were putting up with so many more tweaks and stuff. And, there are some applications that work on rooted phones, which I'm unable to use anymore.

I haven't rooted either. I'm happy with my S8+ as is. Besides, I use Samsung Pay all the time. Also, without an unlocked bootloader there won't be any custom roms.

I did do a search, but couldn't find something specific to Rooting...
But also....this will be an unlocked bootloader so no custom Roms
Was the Galaxy S5 the same? Cant remember if it had an unlocked BL

1) S8 Snapdragon root . It looks like it's been cleaned up quite a bit since the last time I saw it. Keep in mind, it's not the easy process that we used to have, so read, read and then read again. I personally have not done it as I'm happy with my S8+ as is.
2) Correct, no unlocked bootloader = No custom ROMs.
3) No, the S5 bootloader was unlocked, which is why we had some great Roms. I miss MOAR, but life changes, I've moved on.
Off the topic but, I remember u Ramer from the S5 MOAR thread. I had that rom on my s5 also. I love my s8+ as well.

I saw the rooting thread, and even downloaded the files. But I'm hesitating if I should root or not. The thread is closed, which means it's not keeping up with the updates. Although, we all say we're happy with the phone as is. But, are we really?

Not sure yet, I've been stuck on a phone that I'm trying to get out of the way, although I've been considering just moving on to the V60 as I feel I may be heading toward a dead end on the other phone.
News to come, though.
Any updates @haise.zero ? Bought this beauty for myself but im missing out on the EU Firmware :/
Shizuku and an activity launcher that leverages shizuku to perform privileged launches can launch a hidden menu activity that allows you to change the model number.
You might be able to flash to something else with the same OPID that way.
Edit: more information later when I'm on my computer and can provide actual details.

Hasn't still be a way to update the ATT v60 or to cross flash? I think I can't wait anymore but to trade it for another device or sell it off since I'm stuck on June 2020 update

So would that be something like the WTF! method to change the model for the v30? My V30 was a sprint but I was able to change it to the US998 model with that method, thus allowing me to use the custom ROMS for that model. Could something like that be possible for this phone?

I'm not familiar with the V30 or its process, but the process I mentioned would be the way to change models and crossflash over to a less restricted model version to allow easier downgrades and modifications, yeah. It'd (probably) let you work with it through LGUP after a model name change and an OP partition swap

I haven't done much of anything lately. Life has been taking up all of my time.
I ordered new computer parts so that I can finally upgrade to a Ryzen build (been running an FX processor for forever now) and get some real development done. Also hoping for some more spare time soon.
I'll be working on a ROM coupled with a custom recovery primarily but I do understand the importance of needing more people to unlock their devices. This is also something I'm still working on.
My previous partner Codeon doesn't have a V60 nor the time to work on it if he did have one anyways so it's mostly just been me lately and even I haven't done much for a while now.
Hoping I can change that. I'm trying to dedicate my time today to this phone, but as far as getting EDL to work with us without that god damn proprietary GSM box crap, it's just out of my league and I don't understand it. I do know of someone who may be able to help with that and I'll be reaching out to see if they can lend a hand or not.
Sorry for things going so slowly. Thank you for your patience, guys, especially because I know it's running thin right now.
Please update us.

Yea. I saw that on reddit and on telegram but I will wait until proper custom developments starts before I get one again. Maybe next year

Sorry to ask thid here...

.....but it seems they are soooooo ignorant.arrogant over on the V50 forum.
Weeks ago i posted a simple question asking in the V50 can can be rooted (UK) Hundreds have viewed buy zero answeres.
Seen as thoguh I only recently gave my mother the V30.....can u pretty please let me help me out and any ideas if v60 can be rooted?
thanks
Matt
You may want to be more clear on what you're asking for... you mention 3 phones in your post, so I'm not sure which one you're askign about, really. I assume it's not the V30. That said, the V60 shows very little ROM development, which makes me think it's not rooted. Lack of ROMs generally means there is no root.
The V50 has a few ROMs, so that implies it probably does have root capability...
That said, I realize the principles that people have regarding rooting... I was once in that camp myself. But these days, I find it's hard to get it... and it really may not be necessary. I gave up root on my current S10 for this reason, even though it can be rooted in specific situations. For this reason, I question the real "necessity" of it.
i wan to root my V50 just for the sake os system app remover and titanium backp.
thanks
Matt
As I've learned on my new S10, TiBu hasn't been updated in many years and doesn't quite work as well as it used to either. People have had to find alternative apps to do those tasks. In Samsung-land, Samsung Switch works pretty well for this purpose, and doesn't require root. There are others.
Similarly, you don't need root to remove system apps on the S10 either - you can remove them via ADB these days. I'm guessing you can probably do the same on the V50. However, IMO you don't need to remove system apps as much these days because phones have lots more memory and Android is more efficient in dealing with background apps.
To each their own, but the old ways of doing things may have been superceded... so you may not need root anymore... not that you can get it as easily either.

Question Secret Hidden Codes

For the hell of it, has anyone tried any on the A52 5G? I have tried about 60 and only get 10 to work.. Now this is using the T-Mobile version with Android 12 UI 4.0
Are you trying codes just to try codes? Most people go about it the other way around. They have a problem or task to solve and go from there. Your interest seems a bit strange!

Why is that strange? You either have or haven't. Nothing strange about wanting to know which works and which do not for future diagnostic use. Use to use these all them time, on older phones.. Knowledge is power.. You either have it our you don't

Its far from strange. Some people enjoy learning about technology. Knowing how to use advanced problem solving techniques is a great skill to have in your skillset. I personally have learnt the codes for various devices and now, when someone needs help, I have the ability to diagnose it. Thats a win-win for me and them.

I dont have the device so I can't try it out but as you've discovered, most lists of codes on the internet are a mish-mash of codes that probably don't have anything to do with your device. There are some that are Android codes, some that are Samsung generic codes and some are actually for your device. I tend to copy lists from the internet and merge them into a giant list and then when I have a device, go through checking them off one by one. Then I save the list for future reference. I have a folder in Samsung Notes that stores the huge merged list (so I only have to add new codes to it) and then individual Notes for different devices containing just the working codes. Just watch out for the factory reset code. Someone mislabelled that one once and I had to kiss goodbye to my data.

The one code I use to use a lot. Was the one which had all the important info on the phone.. Which included how many call were made since first activated.. Plus, if you bought a used phone, y0u could find out, if it was refurbished, when it was first activated, call, data history.. On this phone as far as I know that code does not exist, as I have not found it yet.

Because if a code on my list doesn't work for whatever reason, I get the complaints and support requests. And God forbid someone ****s up their entire device because they use the wrong list and then I will have days of harassment and blame because of their incompetence. Just a fair warning: prepare yourself for a lot of people complaining that the code you provided didn't work. I once published a hack for a specific device that some user decided would work on a totally different device and I got days of harassment after they ****ed it all up. Stuff like that can take a huge toll on your mental health if your already in a bad place.

Question Have people been able to root?

Hello there! I want to go back to Samsung, and I'm thinking about getting an S23 Ultra. Has anyone been able to root their device, and if so, what region did you buy it from. I'm from the US, and it's probably that Samsung will not allow OEM unlocking on US devices, so does anyone know of any good places to buy EU phones, etc. Thanks!
Well as for places to buy phones, xda only refers people to swappa as per forum rules
As for rooting, if you want custom roms there's not much BUT I'm on the us version and not rooted, although I have debloated it and I'm currently using shizuku to run several apps with more permissions (similar to root) and LSPatch to run xposed modules without root (granted not every module works like this)
