Question Anyone tried livestreaming connected to a non Sony mirrorless camera? - Sony Xperia Pro-I

Sony xperia Pro-I is the 2nd "Pro" phone from Sony.
Sony xperia pro has an HDMI port so you can connect it to any mirrorless or dslr camera as an external monitor and livestream from it.
Sony xperia Pro-I doesnt have HDMI but only Usb-c and works using Usb-c uvc protocol to connect to sony alpha cameras.
I dont own an xperia pro or a pro-I but i was wondering if any of you tried sony xperia Pro-I hooked up with a non Sony mirrorless camera (ie canon eos r5 or r6) and tried the livestreaming capabilities with it ?
Thanks

3.5mm

As for Sony 2011 Android phones, the 3.5mm is not compatible with almost all normal 3.5mm headset (headset, not headphone, headphone works fine while most headset can't be recognized - when it can't be recognized, it cannot be used for phone calls nor listening music) I can only manage to work with the in-box head set. Even Sony's own headset does not work
So has the Xperia S fixed this issue?

Yes, the Xperia S uses the same 3.5 as the iPhone (and thus most headsets).

I am sorry, but I barely understand your problem. Sony Ericsson phones, so up to 2011 (Arc, Arc S, Ray, Play, Neo, X10, Mini Pro, etc.) use 3.5mm jack using OMTP standard. New Xperia line from 2012 (Sony branded phones - Xperia S, P and U) use CTIA standard of 3.5mm jack (same as iPhone). So headset (with mic) from 2011 phone won't fully work with Sony Xperia from 2012, and headset from Sony Xperia S (2012) won't fully work on phone from 2011.
By fully work I mean, you possibly won't be able to use button to redial, or skip tracks in media player, possibly problems with sound as well. So there is no issue Sony has to fix.

Oh so I don't understand Sony decision about using a different standard on 2011 devices. Now I stick with the headset comes in the box for my ray, or use bluetooth. I hope I can use my beats headset after the ICS upgrade for my ray.

That was an Ericsson decision I think - Sony themselves made CTIA headsets for the iDevices.
I do not think your beats headset will work on the Ray, as I *believe* it's hardware, not software. Otherwise, anyone with a custom ROM on the SE phones could have used the CTIA headsets.
Just received my Xperia play. The sound seems abnormal, muffled, no bass at all. Mine didn't come with earphones. Tried several earphones and headphones but saw no difference. What might be the problem?
I'm able to use all the headset functions from my HTC Desire Z headset (2010) on my Xperia P (2012)
I haven't tried on any 2011 devices though.

Sony Entertainment Network-Impressed

Hi, Tested my phone over the week end and very impressed. I rented and downloaded Rise of Planet of the Apes from Sony Entertainment Network via 02 U.K. to the phone and played back on my Sony Bravia TV linked to phone with supplied HDMI cable, quality was fantastic, like watching Blue Ray disc. Could even work the phone from my Bravia TV remote.
Awesome! Now only if Sony will hurry up and bring more PSN games to the network.

Is the Xperia S compatible with MirrorLink?

Does anyone know if the Xperia S is compatible with MirrorLink (Sony seems to be leading the charge with players for the car but only Nokia's appear to be certified despite prototype Sony Ericsson's at CES showing use of it)
Maybe in the ICS update?
MirrorLink requires specific hardware along the headphone jack, much like MHL requires specific hardware along the µUSB jack. That's why you can't just plug an MHL adapter into the µUSB port of any random device and expect HDMI out.
If the Xperia S does not support MirrorLink (if it did, it would be on the spec sheet I hope), I sure hope they do a mid-cycle refresh (like they did with the Arc to Arc S) and upgrade the SoC while adding MirrorLink capability as well.
CORRECTION
I was under the impression that MirrorLink was exclusively through the headphone jack like Nokia and Toyota had been demo'ing. Apparently, MirrorLink can also be done over µUSB, as Sony was demo'ing during CES 2012. I'm guessing it involves using MHL + USB return channel to emulate touchscreen. See here. While the Nokia device is connected by headphone jack, the Sony and Samsung devices are connected by µUSB. So, there is hope for a software update (as long as your device supports MHL or some other form of video-out I guess)

Sony smart headset with xperia tablet s

Does anyone know if the Sony Smart Headset (link below) is compatible with the Xperia tablet S? I know the Smart wireless headset is but I didn't want to use a wireless headset so I can conserve the battery. Does the tablet support in-line microphones in its 3.5 mm jack, for that matter?

Yes, you can.
Bluetooth headphones(and speakers) using BT 4.0, 3.0 and 2.1 will all work with the Xperia X10i.
You just don't get all the features a BT 4.0 Headphone can provide, but it will still work.
