Note 20 5G N-981U1 Android Auto wont connect via USB. - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, I've been searching on XDA and Google about connecting my stock note 20 to my car. USB connection doesn't work.
Yes, my cord is fine and works with other devices.
Yes, the USB port on the phone is fine and connects to my computer and TV.
This is not the only samsung device I've had an issue with.
The car is a 2019 Impreza that has android auto standard.
I've reset my phone and my headunit. Still doesn't work.
Anyone else have this issue and got it figured out?

[Q] Connect Android ICS to VW Car via USB not MTP

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S3. It has Android 4.0.4 (ICS). However, when i tried to connect it to my VW EOS via a USB cable, the car failed to recognise the device. It worked with my previous phone, an HTC Desire. Upon reading a wee bit, it looks like ICS drops USB Mass Storage support in favour of MTP. Is this why the connections doesn't work? Is there any way around this?

No and maybe. But, depending on you phone and car software this could all be for not. Try running your phone in USB debugging mode. Go to settings and Developer Options and turn them on. Check USB Debugging mode.
Try it in your Car.
You can also either make sure your phone drivers are up to date, (sometimes Samsung will patch this). This will then allow you to see if there is a update to the phone so it will work. It goes on and on, but over all it depends on VWs side. If they don't allow for anything but a USB Mass, then you can try a dock for your phone to you car. Samsung has one for turing your phone into a computer. It might trick your car into thinking its a mass usb, but I haven't read up on them.

Wireless adapter connectivity problem

Smart View connects then drops my Microsoft wireless adapter, my old Push 2 TV works fine. Is anyone else having this issue?
My s9+ will sometimes connect to my Microsoft wireless adapter, then other times refuse to connect after multiple attempts. Ni problem with the same setup with my s7+. I can't seem to work out how to make this repeatable. Rebooting the wireless adapter sometimes helps, trying many times again and again to connect will sometimes fix it. Once connected it stays connected however. But I repeat that my s7+ had no problems at all.

USB OTG HUB and ANDROID AUTO

Hello Everyone. I have a Mazda 3 with Android Auto that does not natively support FLAC files. So I figured out a Solution where using Android Auto I am able to use MD Player to play the flac files on my phone. Now before anyone says that I am streaming over Bluetooth so it doesn't really matter. I am also able to go into my Mazda Bluetooth settings and Set Bluetooth to only be the source for Phone calls. This forces Android auto to send the Sound over USB. And there is a huge difference in Sound. For example over Bluetooth I have to crank up the sound to 3/4 to hear what I want while over USB Audio i get the same volume at 1/2. There is also a clear difference between Flac and MP3. Especially at higher volumes.
When I discovered I could do this I thought to myself let me order a USB C Hub, connect my Phone to the HUB, Get a USB male to USB male cable for Android Auto and a 256gb Thumb Drive to fill up with Flac Files. This is where my problems start. Connecting the 256gb Thumb Drive to Hub works perfectly, except that I have to use FAT 32 which is fine, since I wont be using this for movies. When I connect the Android Auto cable to the Hub though it does nothing I tried a USB 2.0 and a USB 3.0 cables to see if that would make a difference. I also tried using a USB OTG adapter without the HUB to see if that launches Android Auto and it does not work either. I tried using my old phone a Nexus 6p and it also did not work. So now I'm thinking Android Auto does not like USB OTG. Could this be Kernel Related? Or am I wrong to assume that something like this would even work on a Phone.
Additionally I bought a USB C powered hub so I can charge the phone while in the car. But when I connect power to the device it charges the phone just fine but it will no longer see the Thumb Drive. If I disconnect power it will not recognize the thumb drive until I restart. So far I have tried 3 hubs. The first one was the cheapest one I could find so I thought that could be the problem. I then tried another Hub I had lying around with the OTG Cable. This did nothing, finally I ordered a nice Anker Hub that works just fine with my wifes Macbook Air, but not with the phone. Any help or Guidance would be appreciated. I am open to installing a custom Kernel if this will solve the problem. Thank you.
Did you ever find a solution? Looking doing the same thing with my pixel 3 xl and either a thumb drive or ssd. I think it has to do with the way the otg cables are wired. The data pair might be the same for the drive as android auto. The otg cables dont have all pairs wired as a true y cable.
Thanks

Help with android auto on the Duo..

I use android auto through a carlinkit dongle. When using my note note there are no issues I just plug in the note and android auto starts.. When I try with the duo its not recognized, even though AA is installed and running the same version as the note. Any ideas guys ? this is driving me crazy.
also some peripherals don't work, I have 2 usb video glasses one works, the other as soon as I connect it crashes.. could this be a power delivery issue? if so is there a way to know?
I don't use AA but have it in my Ford explorer. It does pop up for me when I charge the duo with my OnePlus cord in the car. Did you try a diff cord

Question AA Wireless intermittent

I use Android Auto on my 2019 NSX with the AA Wireless device ( received a couple months ago).
It works great 90% of the time but every now and then the connection will drop playing Spotify.
Does not drop when using the USB cable connection.
Is there a firmware update available?
Thanks for your assistance.
do you have the smartwatch connected to your phone as well when this happens?
I do not have a smart watch. It will connect, disconnect, then reconnect automatically a few times a week. It never did this when I connected to the USB port via a cable.
Thanks for your help.
