AT&T Unlocking Surface Duo - Microsoft Surface Duo Questions & Answers

So I got another duo...lol Not going to try to flash GSI's this time
Anyway, trying to unlock with AT&T. The last 4 Surface Duo's I've tried have all ended with the same result. "IMEI doesn't match the request number. Try again". Have never had this issue with iPhones, Samsungs, etc.
Any ideas?

I have tried it today, in my case IMEi is correct one, however I receive the answer that "We can't unlock this device for you because AT&T did not sell or activate it."
Not sure how to proceed..

[Q] Can't access unlock prompt on two separate Op Ts

I did a thorough search through the forum and elsewhere to find help with this problem, but it's been fruitless. Hopefully someone can assist me:
I have two Optimus Ts from separate sellers, but both prohibit me from accessing the unlock prompt. In the process of unlocking the first phone, the first code I received failed, but there was a notification that it was the 1st of 10 tries. I went to try the next code, but after dialing 2945#*500#, "not registered on this network" appeared instead. The second phone immediately went to "not registered on this network"; I couldn't pull up the unlock screen at all.
Is there something else going on with these phones? It seems unlikely that both of these Op Ts had their unlock attempts burned through, especially after the 1st phone had 9 left. I don't think I have ever read a post from an Optimus user who's failed to unlock theirs, so this situation is particularly troubling. Does anyone have some advice on what to do next?
Thanks in advance.
I'm not sure, but maybe it need to remove SIM?

ATT ATRIX 4G will not accept ATT Sim or unlock codes?

Hi All,
First, I hope this is the right section & I hope I am not duplicating another thread. I have a odd situation I think and I don't know what to do. I picked up my Atrix 4G off of craigslist a few days back. The phone is great but it will not accept my ATT sim card. It asked to enter the unlock code for the sim. It's an ATT phone so I am not sure why my sim doesn't work (Same sim card works in unlocked Vibrant). So, I purchased the unlock codes from two separate places and the codes were the same and did not work when I enter them.
I am at a lost now. I don't know what to do.
Any ideas are appreciated?
Oh yeah, I am not sure what the previous did but before I even put my sim, I did use the bypass Motoblur method to use the phone with sim & blur. I did use aroot and glad enable also. After the sim would not work, I wiped data, created a blur account and tried sim again but no success.
Please help me, I want to use this awesome phone!
did you get this resolved? i am having the same issue
Nope. Still not fixed. I am not sure what to do at this point.
i have the same problem..maybe the case is that you entered the incorrect code more than 10 times?
Have you checked that the IMEI code printed under the battery matches the one displayed on screen?
I was under the impression that if you blow the 10 unlock attempts you will have to wait several hours to try again. In other words, it will not permanently lock.
I might be wrong though.

How many numbers do you have in your unlock code which you are entering into the phone?
Op,
You might have ruined something software wise, did you try flashing a full sbf version 4.1.8.3 preferably ?
I think it should work for you.
there are 8 digits in my unlock code and the imei is the same in the box, under the battery and in the phone
Same issue - No solution
I have same issue with Atrix bought on local craigslist. I have tried restoring to multiple stock versions.
AT&T spent two hours figuring out the issue and they tried even entering correct unlock code.
They asked me to contact motorola as they feel it is software issue. I will Motorola on Tuesday and post the result.
Hi I have the Exact same issue. The Atrix that i got off Craigslist were sealed. And I tried unlock code for Tmobile network off three different sites and still no luck in the locking the phone. So i went and i got Att sims and said the same thing "Sim Network Unlock Pin"
Anywho, I went to Att store and they couldn't figured out and they dont have a phone in stock to trade in. So after many attempt with Att and their customer service, they advise me to contact Motorola.
The funny thing is that i've sent the phone to Motorola two times and clearly stated my issue with the phone and they did not fix it and just send the phone back to me. So i got piss after wasting 350$ on a phone that i can't use and another 30 Bucks for shipping the phone to Motorola. I contact directly to their tech and the tech support ask me to call ATT. LOL right? So one of the tech just offer me a free shipping so they can take A CLOSER LOOK into it.
Apparently Motorola doesn't do phone exchange all they do is repair it. Any exchange would have to deal with ATT and for that to happen you would have to sign up a warranty plan with them which is $5/month.
So i got one last shot at this. and I'll keep you guys post on update. Sorry for my poor English.
So strange as they are unlocked, im using an AT&T atrix in Australia without issue.
Perhaps the phones have been banned somehow?
BUMP.. Anyone find a solution to this yet??
i leave my phone with the error message and the screen on, for at least 2 weeks and nothing!!
i hope no damage my phone with that time with the screen on
I have the same issue. From AT&T explained me that after 5th wrong attempt, the phone will be permanently locked to AT&T. Anybody has a solution for this?
I tried it alll tooooooooooo !!!
My phone was locked to orange network UK. I wanted to use a VIRGIN network Sim card... SO I called the VIRGIN Network technical support team... and this Silly girl keep on giving me few codes till ......IT STOPPED RESPONDING to any code.. so the phone now will not take any codes. I bought many codes in hope from websites..none worked.
I called ORANGE ..but they had no clue tooooo...
I unlocked the bootlooger thing too. I flashed it few times in hope....and I DID what ever I could do but in vain......
I hope we get some smart ass genius to get the break to this problem....!!!
Very similar issue here. I was in Costa Rica for a month and requested the SIM network unlock from ATT and they provided as it had been 6 months after my purchase. The code did not work in Costa Rica and only used WIFI while over there. I got back to the States yesterday and it still doesn't work, and by now have definitely attempted to enter the code 10 or more times. Its supposedly locked to ATT after 10 unsuccessful attempts but it will not work even with my original ATT SIM.
ATT sent me a new Atrix but I would like to get this one working as well. I have a few questions.
If I root is there any apps designed for root to unlock?
If not will a custom Rom bypass the need to unlock or be unlocked already?
If neither of these work is the phone basically bricked simply because the code (provided by ATT) was entered incorrectly 10 times?
THANKS!
i have the exact same issue the phone was from att but the seller say its unlocked for any company, not rooted , not unlocked, only upgrade via ota from froyo to gingerbread,i wish a solution for that,if anyone find a solution please post!! thanks
alberto
well I went ahead and rooted and unlocked. Going to flash a custom and see what happens. Ill keep you updated.
UPDATE: Tried CM7, Didnt fix. :/
I have exactly the same problem. I have tried unlock the boot loader. My phone already show unlocked on top left screen when power on.
Idk why It still ask for Sim network unlock code when I put my T-mobile Sim in and power up.
It seems hopeless to me after trying to search for someday.
I have tried many some rom.
Please anyone help us..
Thank you very much
FYI, Press #073887* on atrix will bring you to the screen which ask:
"Sim network unlock PIN:"

Sprint Note 5 Unlock Device

I have a Note 5 via Sprint.
The device was won, so never activated.
Unfortunately, I don't have a Sprint account and don't with to have one. NIB, checked IMEI and it's clear.
I was fortunate to call and get a six digit unlock code, so they said. I called back to verify and they said it was valid.
Inserted TMO SIM and it doesn't work. The prompts don't pop up to enter the unlock code. Can someone help me wit this?
I am not super techy when it comes to this. But even the TMO rep was clueless to why the prompts were not coming up.
Oh note, I went to RTN and try to reset the MSL with the code given and it didn't work. I don't know if I need to activate the phone and then try to TMO sim. Then disconnect the Sprint account. I have no clue but help would be great. I would really like to use my Note 5

The MSL has absolutely nothing to do with unlocking the phone and Sprint phones never use codes to unlock (Tmo should know this by now). There are a few places that offer these unlocks now and a few unlock boxes that support it as well, though you don't want to go that route as it's quite expensive way to unlock one phone. Probably the best, easiest solution, is to check out idoneapps.com The developer is a member of XDA and has been verified to work by quite a few members here.

How to fix G5 with network locked after 10 failed attempts

I've got a G5 that was supposed to be unlocked, but it actually wasn't because the Orange shop had a clueless clerk.
I put in it a new nanoSIM an it asked for a code. I input the PIN of the SIM and it wasn't the right thing, then, after about 6 or 7 retries I stopped and called Vodafone, my carrier, to see if the new nanoSIM is activated or what's going on? They said it's all right if I block the SIM, they can unblock it, no problem, go on.
Except that the phone wasn't asking for the SIM PIN, but for the network unlock code.
I don't know why I didn't understand that. It's because I wasn't expecting anything of the sort. I just thought that newer phones have a different word for PIN, whatever. I had a coworker with me when doing this, we both had a brain malfunction.
The fact is I used up all the 10 retries.
Then I went to Orange service and they informed me that the baseboard is locked and cannot be reflashed, but instead it must be replaced and it costs $200.
Is that true? Perfectly working hardware has to be replaced because of a human error while inputting data in a field? No reflash possible, no reset? What kind of colossal paranoid made this design decision? Is it because of the carrier (Orange) or because of LG?
Please enlighten me, mobile gurus.
I had confirmation from another LG Service that this is indeed the case. The only option available is replacing the logic board. Hard to believe, but true. Throwing away perfectly good hardware because some moron thought it's a good idea to lock it without any way to recover, apparently. I would still like to know if it was an LG moron or an Orange moron. Who made this awful design decision? What's the mechanism involved? How does the board become locked? What kind of locking is it? Does the service actually put it in the trash, or does it take it to an LG factory and they hook it to a machine and reprogram it?
After reading some more, it seems there is a way to brute force the network unlock even after the 10 retries were used up. But it has to be with Android 6, and I upgraded to 7, because I'm restless. I'll downgrade it now.
Can someone tell me what's the name of the tool that does the brute forcing?
Downgraded to Android 6.0.1 (kdz 10i)
I downgraded the phone from Android 7 to 6, 20a to 10i (H85010i_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0923.kdz). 10c didn't work, probably too old.
I did it with Uppercut 1.0.0 and LGUP 1.14.3.
First, hard reset (with buttons, volume down and power)
Then Uppercut + LGUP, flash 10i
After that, it gave a lot of errors from applications, hard-reset again
Done
Now I need to know the name of the brute force application that can unlock it. Someone please help me, send me PM with the name.
It displays "This phone is permanently locked and can not be unlocked".
Finally, happy end.
The phone can be unlocked, even if it says "this phone is permanently locked and can not be unlocked".
Some information for whoever uses Google and finds this thread:
There is about a dozen programs that can do this, Octoplus Octopus etc. They cost about $80-$150 so it's not worth buying them to unlock just one phone. These programs run only if they detect some type of hardware dongle or smartcard. But there are people on ebay that do remote unlocking, through Teamviewer.
I had to downgrade from 10i to an even older image, 10d. The good news is that it's possible to downgrade from Android 7 to 6. I used Uppercut 1.0.0 and LGUP 1.14.3. Also after downgrade I performed a hard-reset ("refurbish") with the hardware buttons, search google for LG G5 hard-reset. As a matter of fact, I did this after every reflash, to have a clean OS.
So asadnow2k unlocked it for $15, but after unlock the IMEI was reset to 0 and had to put my IMEI back too. Also, arm yourself with the patience of a saint because asadnow2k takes ages between replies on skype. He did unlock my phone eventually, but it took two days. You might be better off taking the phone to a local repair shop. But not to the official LG repair or carrier Service.
unlocking
so what was the process of unlocking ?

SIM unlock question (someone else has surly had a similar situation but I can't find)

I failed to check the imei of the s8+ I bought on let go before purchase, so I got home and realized how dumb I felt and went ahead and checked, it says it's locked to Sprint and still under financial obligation. I. Guessing he got it for cheap as a deal and decided to sell it a few days before its imei becomes no good. But still not yet fraudulent. I know if was already reported fraudulent a SIM unlock wouldn't matter because the imei would be blacklisted but being as that was/is not the case I decided I would go ahead and do an unlock (worst case scenario I'm out $13) and see what happens. Well all went well, It got unlocked and then 8 flashed the unlocked firmware onto it and have been enjoying ever since. My question is this, when the day comes that this phone is deemed fraudulent or whatever, what will this mean for me? All of a sudden it will just stop work I g because of it being blacklisted or is there a chance that with the unlock predating the fraud report it just keeps working?
