Hey CACTUS
I am very happy to test it
but can I install One UI 2 Port or can not ??
and thanks very much for your hard work 🫡

I tried the J730F that Kostareka uploaded, and it actually worked! And it's hella SMOOTH! I'll test it for a week and see what's in store for me. I think I'll try the other One UI pie roms on the J7 thread and see if it works. Thank you @Kostareka for creating this patch.

wow, thanks for the hard work. I've tried and it works. I'll give it a try for some time. I still have this tablet for my kid, but messing around with it... I love it
Btw what do you think of trying with this rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-v4-5-a600x-exynos7870-arm64-08-2021.4287221/
It's Android 10 with one ui 2.5, the most recent rom that I've found for a Exynos 7870 device. Will it brick?

Hmmm I don't know if thats going to work, Kostareka said flash One Ui PIE roms not 10. And even if it does work, I don't really recommend it, because in terms of battery and ram optimizations, android 9 is it's max for this tablet.

If you're going to try it make sure to change the installer on the ROM you just downloaded otherwise the ROM will detect your device as unsupported.

I'm not really an expert but
1.EXTRACT THE ROM
2.OPEN THE EXTRACTED ROM AND FIND META-INF, THEN OPEN IT
3.OPEN 'COM' FOLDER AND INSIDE THAT FOLDER IS THE GOOGLE FOLDER, OPEN IT AND YOU WILL FIND THE ANDROID FOLDER,
4. INSIDE THAT FOLDER, YOU WILL FIND THE UPDATOR SCRIPT. YOU CAN EDIT OR CHANGE IT. IF YOU'RE GOING TO CHANGE IT USE THE UPDATOR SCRIPT FROM THE J730F THAT KOSTAREKA UPLOADED
5. IF YOU'RE TO EDIT IT, WATCH A YOUTUBE TOTURIAL ON HOW TO.
I never tried this before, but I'm going to try it

Back to the J730F Stock Rom, it has some trouble with wifi connections. It won't connect to a 5GHz wifi and it disconnects frequently from a 2.4GHz network.
It seems to be unable to receive a DHCP IP. I've tried with a static one, but it works with some errors from time to time...

This is a custom Rom I made for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 LTE (SM-T285), which suits my tastes.
If you have suggestions, send me a PM.
UPDATE 09/07/2016
================
A newer version that runs "root" (sepolicy constrained) scripts can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-samsung-galaxy-tab-7-0-lte-2016-sm-t3455788
Use the above version instead if you want to experiment with features like apps 2 sdcard.
Modifications:
* Based on LMY47V.T285XXU0APCN

* Removed Touchwiz launcher and redundant samsung apps (Hancom office, Kidzone), replaced with Trebuchet
* Enabled r/w to the external SD Card
Installation Instructions:
Odin or Heimdall Required.
--FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK--
1. Make sure to backup of your data and have a copy of your stock Rom in case something goes wrong.

You have to go to download mode and then use Odin to flash. Unfortunately this does not root the T285.

Hi,
Anyone tried Pokemon Go update 0.37 with this ROM? The update fails to start for me. It prompts device/os version is incompatible.
I reverted back to version 0.35 and it works fine.

Yeah the newest version checks for xposed and a bunch of other things. Actually a lot of people were pissed that they did this. You'd probably need to revert back to stock if you want to play. Only systemless root and xposed with magisk works for Pokemon go now.

Also if you want more details on what is going on search google for "pokemon go safetynet". Basically most custom roms and not just this device should fail the test.

Hello and thank you for your work with this device. Currently I am looking for a bypass for the factory reset protection on my sm t280. I have flashed the stock md5 file 3+ times attempting to do a complete data wipe and reset, and this doesnt remove the lock. Any ideas?

To FRP unlock you have to go to developer settings and switch oem unlock to false. The stock rom should have it unless you are using a carrier locked version that I a! not aware of.

FRP is specifically designed to prevent flashing if you can't login to the device. You won't be able to flash unless the person has turned off oem unlock beforehand. I am not aware of any method to bypass this on this device.
Also the T280 and T285 have slightly different hardware so using a different recovery image is not recommended. Also since both devices have a locked bootloader, I highly doubt you can even change the recoveries from stock as I would imagine samsung using different keys for both. At the worst case it still always possible to reflash them back to stock if you do want to try

And thank you so much for selling it. I don't speak enough Spanish to make the ordeal of getting one of the T285M's from so america worthwhile. I was planning on sticking with my T239M for awhile, then I saw your T285M on ebay.
I've dirty flashed jedld's T285 debloated rom, then dirty flashed his T285 tinker rom on top of that. Both onto my T285M. Working flawlessly. Wished he'd kept the mail app, but without touchwiz I guess that wasn't possible.
Something else they blocked in the kernel or with SElinux on the T285M is screen mirroring. Can only cast directly from apps.
Still I am happy overall. Now looking for a castrated version of daemonsu!

Contemplating on getting the Samsung J max 7.0 dual sim...yes no U.S lte but has an 8mp camera and a flash...similar to the T285 otherwise...can't say how many times I needed the flash for photos or even if for looking at labels peering into dim areas behind a monitor or tv..maybe end up in same pickle of no root...will see (number is SM-T285YD so it is based off the T285 it seems-maybe a Latin American version soon?)
Also trying to get the T705M from another source but taking forever...low hopes think it will come through

got another one - white color ...as a gift...God Bless - great device battery life is just incredible - nothing fancy but does its job...keeping this one (had it since early November) gave up on the 705m
Is this ROM compatible with Google Safetynet? I can't seem to log into Pokemon GO since I installed Tinker edition, so I'm thinking to switch to this one instead.
Haven't tried it but it should work.
Is the root part contained in boot.img or in system.img? In other words, when using Heimdall I should flash both system.img and boot.img, isn't it?
I'm getting bootloops with CM13, Omni and I don't know how I got Tinker working, I kind of remember flashing boot.img, then wiping, then flashing system.img, then wiping again.
EDIT: got this one working too by flashing boot.img (Heimdall complains it cannot receive confirmation msg) reboot into download again, then flashing system.img (this time heimdall does reboot the phone). however, pokemon go still wont connect due to google's safetynet compliance.
I'll try flashing recovery in case it is TWRP the one clashing with Safetynet.
PD: I didn't backup stock at the beggining of the process so I'm pretty much screwed with Pokemon until I can afford a new phone. But if someone has a stock ROM for T285MUBU0API2, please ping me.
EDIT2 Got pokemon working. I reinstalled TWRP (this ROM's recovery is the stock one, of course), then flashed unSU. It removed SuperSU binary and Google SafeNet got working again. I can't believe that, after so much hours I've put into finding the best custom ROM for this crappy phone, 95% of the time was spent in trying to get Pokemon GO running. I'm close to 40, FML.

[Honor 5A aka. Huawei Y6 II Compact] Are there any custom ROMs?

Hello guys!
Recently, i've got this phone mentioned above. It is a great phone, everything is okay, but i do not like EMUI a lot, i prefer AOSP to EMUI.
Are there any custom ROMs (CM, AOSP, etc) to this phone?
I've looked around on 4pda.ru about this, i found a recovery, but thats it, nothing more.
There you go, i installed this TWRP 3.0.2.0, and it works like a charm.
1: Unlock your bootloader. IT IS INDISPENSABLE! If you brick your device locked, you lost.
2: Go into fastboot (Easiest: Turn off your device, and Hold down POWER DOWN + POWER WHILE you attach the USB from the computer. The phone will go instantly into fastboot mode, it works for me)
3: Type: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
4: The phone now should download the recovery. Pull the battery out, and restart in recovery.
Download
The file is from 4PDA.ru, i have to reupload it, because 4PDA's sign up is a PAIN. A friend of mine helped me, and it took like 2 hours.
Altough, i do not know why you need the recovery other than backing up, since there are no custom rom avaiable for this phone. (Can anyone maybe port to it?)
I think, that porting Allwiev E4 Lite custom roms would be the best option, but I have weak knowledge about roms porting :crying:
There are no custom roms yet for this device.
For first you may trie to install nova launcher? It gives some feeling near to aosp.

@snikerfreak did you find any rom for this device.
My son instaled TWRP and wiped everything trying to flash an honor 5A rom, installation failed so now phone is dead.
Do you know where to get a firmware? Can't find anything right!
All attempts to find firmware for my Dual Sim Huawei Y6 II Compact (LYO-L21) failed so I want to ask a BIG support to anyone in this thread with a TWRP recovery installed. By inexperience my teenager son wiped every partition on the phone and now we are unable to boot. It would be of great help if some one could share a twpr backup (including all partitions) to be used not only for me but for anyone as a flashable firmware.
I'm aware it would take some time, skills and dedication.
Here is how to perform it:
Backup your current phone firts with all your personal data
Do a Factory Reset
Do a second backup to be shared as a stock rom or standard firmware
Restore personal backup
Upload firmware (stock rom) backup to the cloud and share donwload link here
Is there anyone wanting to provide this?
I'll be very grateful for that
Thanks

Russian have custom ROMs in 4pda forum. It is Resurrection Remix OS 7.1.1 (unstable beta) and CyanogenMod 14.1_Android 7.1.1 (beta, camera not working). They stop work with RR_OS, but CM 14.1 is still porting.
You can help em.

If you don't want to wait you should be able to unzip the current version and add this it the update script(META-INF/com/google/Android)
symlink("/system/lib/modules/prima/prima_wlan.ko", "/system/lib/modules/wlan.ko");
Then just compress the files back into a zip file and it should fix wifi.
Corrupt Zip File
Whenever I try to flash your ROM in Safestrap for my G-730A it always tells me I have a corrupt zip file and it is unable to flash it. I have tried to download it multiple times (the first time failed for the Mediafire link) and copy it back onto my SD card but to no avail. I have followed all the necessary steps to get this Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini somewhat custom ROM ready. I installed the busybox scripts, enabled safestrap, set the SELinux mode to permissive, installed Xposed and the libraries, now I just need to know how to flash a modded version of the Kitkat 4.4.2 stock ROM onto this device properly. Do you have another version that's more stable, or possibly even a link to an entirely different de-bloat ROM? Thanks!

Do you have another version that's more stable, or possibly even a link to an entirely different de-bloat ROM? Thanks!

My suggestion would just be to manually debloat the rom by just uninstalling all the useless system apps. The stock rom I made is very buggy and because you can't root on this rom you have to flash back to stock with Odin if something goes wrong. I can try and reupload to Google drive if that helps, but I am unable to test it because I bricked all 3 of my s3 mini's. I also ported another rom called tencent os but that has more bugs than this one so it's not worth using.

I will take you suggestion and just do the following on the stock ROM manually. I will heed your advice that the ROM you created just isn't ready for primetime, and I would honestly rather trade stability for convenience any day. You don't have to go to the trouble of re-uploading a new one to Google Drive if you don't want to. Speaking of Tencent OS, while I was doing research for this device on XDA that did come up in the search results. I thought nothing of it and I didn't even look at the author of it, but I'm pretty sure it was you Turnert. At this point I think I will just stick to the stock 4.4.2 image and stop looking for what isn't there.
UPDATE: I was able to get the number of system apps down to about 150. So far so good, initially there was some black screens and random apps opening after the preliminary uninstall. All seems to be fine after a soft reset though. I'm liking the performance and the added storage benefit without all that bloatware running in the background taking up room.

Honestly I might buy an s3 mini and see if I can improve this rom a bit considering it's been quite a while since I've done any work on this device. I would love to work on this device again and see if I could maybe get aosp or something running on it even if it's not very likely that aosp will ever run on it.
Hi guys! is this 4.4.2 because basically 4.4.4 was never released for this phone? thx.

[ROM][G950U/G955U]Pixelish S9 ROM - Custom System for Snapdragon S8/+

Introducing the first Oreo ROM for the S8 and S8+, its basic don't complain.
First of all, before you go any lower read this:
THIS IS NOT ROOT! This is a custom system image that I modded and allows me to add or remove files and still have it boot and keep Knox intact along with Saftey Net. Unless you mess with the build.prop device stuff, Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, and Google Pay should all work.
Second, If you break your phone or mess up and it boot loops, just flash a stock image and start over. Don't come here crying over it not working because these do work and I have had testers use them and run this.
Third, this is pixelish because all I did was add the pixel launcher and a couple pixel files along with S9+ messenger. This is more of an open project.
Forth, If you are a dev interesting and making your own custom system image, message me and I will tell you the ways of this magic.
NOW FOR THE GOOD PART!
This ROM currently contains the stock Pixel launcher, a couple new /etc/sysconfig pixel files, and the S9 messenger. Knox still works and so does Saftey Net. This has yet to be debloated.
To install it:
1. Go to download mode and flash the file install BL.tar with Modded Odin, all files will be linked in like post 2 or 3, I don't know.
2. Reboot back into download and flash the system.tar (names may vary) in the AP slot with the options reparation and NAND erase all selected, you will also need to use the pit file there. This step will say fail in Odin but that's good.
3. Reboot BACK to download mode and flash the CRB9 AP, BL, and CP. In between the system flashing and this step, hit reset at the bottom of Odin to reset the options.
4. Let the phone reboot. It will boot loop, that's good. Now go to recovery and let this boot loop. It will say something about a cache error, that's perfect.
5. From recovery go to download mode, it might be difficult and you may get to upload mode, just keep holding the keys until you get there. Now flash the CSC file.
6. After flashing CSC you should be in recovery, now clear data and cache. Hit reboot the system or whatever and you should be good!
7. Enjoy whatever is in the ROM because I assume some people are going to link back here at some point.
THANKS to @me2151 for finding this and telling me how to do it and such

How to mod it yourself!
This is a little thing on how to mod it yourself.
You need to download the system for the device, just use the one I have above. Then you need to mount it in Linux using the command sudo mount -o loop system.img.ext4 folder name. This should mount as an r/w. I did it in Kali Linux and didn't have issues while Ubuntu did some funky stuff. Then you mod the systems normally like making a ROM. Whenever you mod something you need to set the proper permissions with chmod and context with sudo setfattr -n security.selinux -v ubject_r:system_file:s0 filename. You might need to install attr to get it. Then once you're done, unmount with sudo umount folder name and then add it to a .tar file without any compression and flash it in Odin like the instructions. Just use your system instead of mine. If you make it and post it, just credit me2151 and me (mweinbach).
Told yall i was sitting on it til oreo release
This has such great potential. Thank you guys for bringing hope back to Snapdragon models!
Thanks so much.

Probably not.
Thanks a lot! Can you post how to create a custom rom on here for us devs?
I know this rom is for Snapdragon but is there any chance that your methods would apply to exynos firmware too? A custom non-knox tripping rom would be great
Nice work anyway!

S8 files up!
Thanks for sharing this! :good:
What's the main difference between this and the Stock Samsung ROM? Does it have bloatwares if I install on my AT&T variant? I'm sorry, I'm asking since it's not listed on the first post exactly aside from a couple of things you mentioned.

This has bloat. It also has S9 messenger and pixel launcher. Also some pixel stuff. It's more what others can add.

I am going to do a debloated one at some point. For now, you can just disable the apps with like sabs.

I can set perms, I am going to leave that to a better ROM dev who understands it more. I would probably kill it.
Hey @mweinbach, thanks for taking the time to make this rom! I have a quick question. I have an S8 and am currently running PartCyborgRom (build AQI6). Can I just flash the firmware and system files without doing anything else beforehand? If not, what steps should I take before installing this?

Generic LineageOS and Root

Hello,
yesterday I read about the Generic LineageOS ROM that will work on all Project Treble compatible devices, if I understood it right. So it should also work on the Huawei MediaPad M5 since it supports Project Treble, right?
Does anyone have tried it out? And what's about Root?
I plan to buy the MediaPad M5, cuz my Pixel C is broken, but I want to have Root and a Vanilla Android ROM like LineageOS.
@Marcopoloy13 I would like to test it but as there is no firmware / ota package for the device available yet it's a bit risky. For installation you need to overwrite the recovery with TWRP but if installation fails I do not see a way back to stock. I am new to Huawei devices, probably you know wheter if at least erecovery is working you are able to return to stock?
@AndDiSa No, sadly I have no experience with Huawei devices, too. So I thing we have to wait till someone have the stock firmware?
What's about Root? Is already a rooting method working?
@Marcopoloy13 well, all rooting methods supported by Treble devices should work. I know that @phhusson has already prepared several roms based on Treble which provide root access, but first step is to get TWRP working or to have at least a save way to return to stock in case something goes wrong ...

FWIW, since this is yet another kirin 960, I'm fairly confident it should work, but that would make for a costly brick if it doesn't.
Could you send me your vendor/etc/selinux/nonplat_sepolicy.cil (this doesn't require root) so that I can run some early checks on it?
If GSI works, there is a way to get root/make a full dump, with two users:
User A (the most intripiduous one) installs the GSI, gets root with it, dumps all partition (except system because, well, that's the GSI)
With magisk manager, root the "ramdisk" dump.
Then user B flashes the rooted "ramdisk" partition, he gets root on stock ROM, and he can dump stock system.img
You don't need TWRP to flash a GSI, you just need fastboot, which should work natively on the device.
If the device is running Android 8.0, an Android 8.0 GSI has more chances to work than Android 8.1 GSI.
@phhusson I'll send you the vendor/etc/selinux/nonplat_sepolicy.cil when I am coming home, and to answer your question : yes, the device is running Android 8.0, so chances are not too bad, I think ...

Got it thanks, it passed the test on 8.1 AOSP.
It is not a guarantee of anything, but it's a bit safer than without the test

One question: do you know whether /system/etc/recovery-resource.dat contains the recovery image? I know that stock Android generally on boot is overwriting the recovery so I was wondering whether this file is/contains the recovery image ?

Short answer is no.
Longer answer is that it is a part of recovery. in /system there is recovery-resource.dat and recovery-from-boot.p (or something like that, and recovery is made as a delta of boot.img (which you don't have access without root), and then applying recovery-from-boot.p and recovery-resource.dat on top of boot.img

Well ... there is no recovery-from-boot.p and there is no extra partition for the recovery kernel but there is a recovery-ramdisk partition. I suppose recovery-resource.dat contains the recovery-ramdisk data, but it's only a feeling.
Edit: Hmmm ... probably not, looks more like a container of images.
I'm interessted too in the m5 but i want aosp or any custom rom. I don't like the emui one. But back to treble. Has anyone tested if it haves treble or any document what says it ? About the system img i think the one from other huaweis will not work correctly a lot of things like dpi and screen size is totaly different.
Anyone knows the codename of m5 ?

The M5 definitely is Treble enabled. The code name for the SHT-W09, e.g. the 8.4 WiFi version is schubert.

Okay thanks if we get safe way to restore stock firmware i would try to build twrp and a rom for it ( buidling for z2 and z2 tablet from sony currently) but rom building should be easy at all with treble
Twrp could be a bit harder but i think its possible to make it without kernel source. If kernel source is out it should be easy to do twrp

Yes basicly you are right but the problem is the srenn size i think twrp is messed up if you flash the phone one. Another problem could be the display driver at all not sure if the m5 uses same driver as the rest

No, download and restore to a working stock firmware
@phhusson the functionality of erecovery is new to me. Can you expain how it works? Or can you give me a hint where I can get additional information about this. The only thnig I know is that erecovery is a second recovery which will / can be started when the system is messed up, but will it work on a modified system, too? Will it download the firmware if needed?

I don't know a lot about it, and I've never actually tested it.
What I know is that it has its own kernel/ramdisk/vendor/whatever, so as long as you don't flash any erecovery_* partition, you should be safe
I also know it is capable of connecting to WiFi
So considering all of this, I think that it is capable to download restore a fully functional firmware...
Perhaps you should try running eRecovery without doing flashing anything to see how it goes?
