Phone stuck in error mode while trying to downgrade to Android 11 - Samsung Galaxy A21s Questions & Answers

First, I have a Galaxy A21, not a A21s, but I didn't see my phone listed on your front page. Anyway, I thought I would post this in here. Hope that's OK?
So....after I finally got Android 12 I noticed the phone was slow and laggy. I got tired of it and attempted to downgrade to Android 11. I got ODIN and retrieved the Android 11 file for my exact phone off the SamMobile website. I followed the instructions on this page and proceeded. Three times now it has FAILED! Each time I get the error message 'An error has occured while updating the device. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software' .
So I got the Smart switch software and followed the instructions for using that, and each time I got 'this model does not support firmware upgrades and initialization'. I have a StraightTalk model of the phone, so I don't know if that has anything to do with this or not. Now my phone is stuck on the 'An error has occured while updating the device' screen and I'm starting to worry I've bricked it.
Can anyone here help me out with this?
Thank you

I got it to work. I downloaded the Android 12 files for my phone and used ODIN to flash my phone and it was successful. I guess maybe because of the model phone I have it's not possible to downgrade?

Check and see.
The 5th digit from the end of the bootloader version vs the build number tells you if you can.
That digit must be the same or lower than the build number.

Best advice... Rule #1 if the firmware is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission, let it be! Updates can and do break things. Hell I'm still running on Pie on this stock N10+ N975U. It hasn't been updated in 3 years, current load is over 2.5yo still fast, very stable with minimal maintenance. Security is simply not an issue. Forget the hype scare bs.
Anything from 9 up is relatively secure unless you do stupid things.
This is what an Android is capable of. Constant updates are counterproductive, they waste time and perpetuate endless cycles of troubleshooting and finding work arounds. For what?!
In older Samsung the last firmware updates can hamstring and cripple them. It's a Samsung tradition I have almost zero issues because I don't mess with the firmware... and it still runs like a bat of hell.

blackhawk, thanks for the reply, and the info.
I realized the phone was just not capable of running Android 12 and so I bought a new one - Galaxy A53 5G. I was pretty bummed I missed the sale on that phone at Walmart by one day - bought it for $260, but it had been on sale for a hundred bucks! Doh...
Anyway, the A53 is awesome. Better processor, more memory/storage, bigger battery and it came with Android 12 already on it. The phone is slated to get the next android and possibly a couple more after that so I should be set for a while.
Thanks again for replying to my thread and have a blessed Thanksgiving

hard bricked verizon GS4 see image

Use verizon software repair assistant to repair..." and 2nd when trying that on my desktop the repair button is greyed out on said repair software because it doesnt recognize my phone anymore. tried many times to get into download mode but it wont go past the start up failed screen. please if someone had this happen before please help. thank in advance.

If I am understanding you correctly you flashed a custom rom and it failed to boot. It is pretty hard to get into download mode with the combo when it is softbricked like that. An easy way to get into dl mode would to be to buy a download jig which are like $4 on amazon. Unless you flashed over recovery.img as well then you are in a completely different situation
please more info on these jigs or will that even help
thanks for the tip. none of the jigs on amazon right now say sch-i545 specifically but does it matter? i guess in order to get it asap i will just order the $5.99 from eopzol says will ship by monday. . anyway will it ship with instructions or how do i know what to do with it? maybe i should wait for your response to the rest of this explanation since you asked about recovery image i guess i need to be more specific about what i did. once i was rooted and granted rom toolbox premium superuser access i tried the top choice which was twrp. but instead of learning more about roms i thought i would try cwmr on top of it and so know you know what we are dealing with here. hence the fear i just crapped all over my phone. please tell me there is hope.
no longer bricked
with a lot of tries i was able to get back into download mode just trying over and over again until i got it and reflashed oc1 via odin3 and rebooted phone and it is still rooted! what a relief. didnt need jig but it may come inhandy since i ordered it anyway just in case. so no longer asking to get help with failed to start problem. i will post my other ? in proper place about fav roms.
i have been told and learned to be careful on use of the word brick
i have been told and have learned to not go around willy nilly throwing the word brick around. its like crying wolf. you really want to get help but not by tossing important industry lingo about without learning true meaning. now as far as this specific problem it is no longer valid and i have reposted an updated problem titled "vrugof1 maybe hiding under revert to vrugoc1 s4 stuck on verizon logo". so to the forum moderator this can be closed as no longer the issue.

Download the LG bridge tool from LG's website, install it on your PC, connect your phone to your PC, let the tool detect your phone and update it to MM 6.0

and it shows the android security patch on 1/7/2016 , with lollipop ?! that's weird

Okay let's make sure of one major thing, you have a T-mobile V10 correct? If this is true then follow the steps below to have the latest update which is H90120j on your phone.
Go to the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/general/step-step-guide-rooting-lg-v10-using-t3382631
Go through the Step-by-Step guides (1->2)
When you get to the Step#3 guide, select the Tmobile-LGV10_flash_Stock_UnRoot_MM_6_0_STEP_3 guide (Sets your phone to default stock with the latest update, useful if you plan on returning it or selling it)
You will now have the latest stock H90120j on your T-mobile V10
Make sure you read the notes on the beginning of the thread and follow the guides to the letter. One thing to keep in mind is that the guides will make you unlock your bootloader which will show a warning message every time you restart your phone , now depending on what you plan on doing with the phone you have the option of re-locking the bootloader by running the following command in fastboot mode: fastboot oem lock. This will get rid of the warning message but you will have to unlock it again if you plan on re-flashing any ROM.
His V10 isn't an H901

AT&T EXPRESS 3 RUNNING ON J120AUCU2AQC1 firmware root method! super easy....

Im not quite sure if anyone has rooted the most recent firmware so im going to tell you how i did it =)
links will be provided at the end and yeah lets get started
step 1 !!! download the SM-J120A ENG boot(link below)and go ahead and flash it via odin.
DONT FREAK OUT! ITS GOING TO FAIL! Rest assured your phone witll boot back up but when it does you will notice in the "about phone" section of you phone's settings that Selinux is magically permissive......=)=)=)
step 2 !!! download latest Kingroot and let it works its weird Chinese magic voodoo lol....
AGAIN DONT FREAK OUT!! Due to kingroot being the zombie apocalypse of your poor phone, its going to be running like absolute garbage...
step 3 !!! go to the play store and purchase Chainfire's very own SUPERSUME!!!!! it is the best and fastest way to administer the "cure" for your phone and switch that deadly Kingroot for the nice foot massage that is SuperSU. If you're worried about SuperSuMe costing a few bucks then id say you've got a long and worrisome life ahead of you haha its only a few bucks and chances are you have'nt donated to Chanifire yet and should be ashamed!!!! without Chainfire we would'nt have the root we have today period, you all know i speak the truth =)
Conclusion!!!!!!! i know this may seem like a total joke post but i assure you, it is not a joke. this method with put a nice smelling fresh root on your at&t express 3 running on J120AUCU2AQC1 fimware as depicted by the screen shot below. you will also notice that it is running on the tmobile network with Volte, but thats a story for another day....sweet dreams bobbits.....
disclaimer!!!!!!!!! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DEVICE!!! I AM MERELY SHOWING YOU THE PATH TO ABSOLUTION, IT IS VERY MUCH YOUR DECISION TO WALK THAT ROAD....
i assure you this has been tested and retested and you should be just fine and when this method works for you(yup i said it...lol) when it works, hook me up with a thumbs up or something =)

But on which device J3? Sm-j320fn?
Root successful...........but
I was able to root with firmware version J120AUCS3AQE1 but because mine is an AT&T phone the bootloader is "locked and signed" meaning it's never going to unlock........? I have the latest version of firmware that came out in may 2017 and it will be available to you as soon as I can post an outside web address............ Every Recovery image that I flashed caused everything to fail and a big triangle that said AT&T detected software on your device that is not allowed on our device so I guess this one is never really your own........ but you can Root with Kingroot and supersume pro to get rid of bloatware and such but other than that no custom stuff on this one.
If Kingroot keeps freezing just restart phone and keep trying it took me a long while to obtain root.

Samsung A10S firmware downgrade help

Hi There

my phone software information is

so far ive downloaded the following firmware which i think is correct
Problem is ive went through the process of applying it through odin but get the following error and not sure what is wrong, ive enabled USB debugging mode which is turned on and my phone is in downloading mode, is there another step involved to successfully flash this phone ?
Hi
I understand that the reason Odin failed may be because you used wrong (mismatched) firmware (i.e. it's not firmware for your A10S model. The following info should illustrate my point:
There are 2 similarly named models:
a) the Galaxy a10S series [Versions: SM-A107F/DS (Global); SM-A107M/DS (LATAM). Source https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a10s-9793.php], ..... and
b) the Galaxy A10 series [Versions: SM-A105F/DS, SM-A105FN/DS (Global); SM-A105G/DS (APAC); SM-A105M/DS (LATAM/Brazil). Source: https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a10-9580.php]
From the info you gave above, you have a phone in the SM-A107F series, but you have fed a firmware version for the SM105F series into Odin and flashed your phone. You have a A107F phone (as indicated in the Software information image above (Baseband version: A107F......). In contrast, the Odin image indicated that you used A105F firmware (in the BL button field, it showed 105FDDU6BUD1 .......). Additionally, your Attachment image should also confirm that indeed you had downloaded the 105FDDU6BUD1 firmware version and used it in Odin.
Redownload the correct firmware (one beginning with 107F .... and flash your phone again could solve your problem.
Best wishes

Trying to update Unlocked G850QM model to A12 through Bridge or LGUP, errors out saying it's T-Mo model

Hoping someone can help, no idea why this is happening. I have a US Unlocked G8X (G850QM). I simply want to upgrade to Android 12.
OTA portion of Android shows no update.
LG Bridge shows G850QM then downloads Android 12. Update starts then errors out at 0% "Your phone cannot update"

From there I installed LGUP and downloaded kdz from LG-Firmwares. That gives me the error saying I can't change models from T-Mo to Open.
The device works on T-Mo's network so I'm assuming it is an actual G850QM, but I may be wrong. Has anyone experienced this? I don't want to change models, I simply want the update. I have no idea if the seller could have done funny business and sold me am "unlocked" version when in fact he flashed a T-Mobile one.
Don't know much about LG devices, this is my first one.
Help, I'm going crazy!
I fixed this issue, starting at this post on the thread [Tutorial] Crossflash, Bypass OPID Mismatched Error
Really weird, no idea why it happened, but model was unlocked, then ended up using QFIL to back up partitions and wipe the device. Flashed unlocked Android 12 kdz, which got it to work but wiped the serial and change the device to G850UM.
Restored the FTM partition to return the serial number which also changed the model number back to G850QM.
My device is now upgraded to Android 12 with everything in order. Visit that link and read through the posts if you're in the same situation or want to upgrade like I did.

Is your fingerprint working? , I'm on TMO_US aswell, cross flashed to OPEN_CA, but sadly my fingerprint doesn;t work anymore, bootloader is locked.
