Pixelated burn in only visible in low brightness - Motorola Edge + (2020) Questions & Answers

Hey,
I just got the verizon version it was brand new but as we all know it is now out of warranty i started noticing the display pixelated in low brightness but whenever tha brightnessis increased above 50% they almost become invisible as we increase the brightness and at 90%+ brightness everything becomes perfect.
These are some pixelated lines that are visible on the grey background in low brightness the most.My device is running on Android 12 and the pixelated display or greyish pixelated lines are the most visible in dark mode on grey backgrounds on brightness less than 50%.
Has anyone got this issue?
Any solution except to change the phone or to change the display?

If just bought new should be under warranty, otherwise and preferably return it as a defective product.

In the US I would return it and have the bank do a charge back on the card if the seller doesn't want to do what's right.

Not possible for me.

I have figured that this issue is due to screen flickering under 50% of Brightness any solution for this flickering any settings, any software?

About the only thing you can do is try a different display refresh rate or maybe increase the room's ambient light level.

I go with the stock rom you were using. Personally I never had to roll back anything as I don't upgrade or update firmware... especially if it's fast, stable and fulfilling its mission.

[Q] lag on lolipop ?

Just updated my tablet to lolipop yesterday and there're lags with nova launcher as well as facebook and gmail . did anyone else experience the same thing with me ? I would be grateful if someone can show me how to fix it. Thanks a lot
Maybe switching off Adaptive brightness will help
I also have the problem, even sometime very slow to silde the surface, sometime very smooth , i like android 4.4 more than 5.0 lollipop , because is stable
Mine is very smooth. I did clean install but apps restored using titanium backup
Sent from my SGP621 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes I have the same issue.
The version is currently 23.1.A.0.726, sometimes it's butter-smooth, but for other times it's laggy even if you just flip around your homescreen and settings.
Set brightness to ghe low level wil help, yes, it did, thank you,but why ? My tablet is no longer smart =_=
It always had this problem, even on kitkat. I partially solved it by installing lux auto brightness from play store, but it's still not entirely fixed. These Sony devs are really blind, 2 lollipop updates since then and haven't done anything about it.
I received my tab today and decided to update to lollipop. At first I noticed lots of lag and dropped frames. I then put it on charge and noticed that it was buttery smooth. Since taking it off charge it's still buttery smooth. Not sure what I did, but am a lot happier now. I just hope it lasts.
Update...
Have now realised what causes the dropped frames. Its when you have the brightness set too High!! The brightness seems to throttle the processor. Bit stupid if you ask me. Luckily I usually have my brightness set about 50 to 60%. I hope Sony fix this.

Have the same issue, took a while to find the cause.
I'm still on 23.1.A.0.690.
Does anybody already have 23.1.A.1.28 and does still have this issue?
Some guys in a German board say they do not see any difference in low and high brightness and I think they have the newer version...

Hmm, I didn't use my tablet much until recently but I did notice some stuttering while moving around if screen was really bright (on 23.1.A.0.690).
I do not notice the same stuttering on 23.1.A.1.28, actually it seems as fluid on maximum brightness as it does on minimum.

Mines definitely stutters on 23.1.A1.28 when brightness is over 50%. Still faster than my old Samsung galaxy tab s.
Just checked another device in a local "MediaMarkt" store.
It was running on 23.1.A.1.28 and also had this lag - it was really terrible... When I covered the bightness sensor, it started to fly.
This is ridiculous... I hope Sony will fix this in 5.1.
On a side note, mine has a rainbow effect when looking straight at the screen, which is disturbing when reading web pages. The demo device in the store had exactly the same effect - so I'll have to send it back.
Sigh, that was such a great device, but these two issues are a killer for me

Overheating phone almost burns my skin !!!

Hi guys, I need some help,
I have been using Xperia Z2 for the past 8 months and during this time the phone performed well but recent times its starting to give me a lot of problems; The screen had a problem and got it fixed and now I have a huge problem. The phone overheats like crazy when used more than say 10mins straight. It could be a call, messenger, video or camera, I know it has overheating issues with 4K but i never use the 4K feature to record movies. I'm on the latest firmware and lollipop update came via OTA, I can't tell if this is the exact reason but the phone gets so hot that it almost burns my skin !
I have reset the phone and wiped and re-installed everything and this had no effect. I have no warranty as I have paid fully for the phone and left the contract. I don't do gaming or anything processor intensive and yet the phone heats up really bad.
Any solutions apart from taking it to fix somewhere cause I live in Norway and I can buy a new phone for the price of someone looking at the problem cause its that expensive here
What if I have to install a clean stock rom? Any recommendations?
Thanks.

Unlock bootloader, flash custom kernel with the alternative to chooice an aggressive hotplug driver / battery friendly CPU governor and flash a custom ROM.
Solved!
Try downloading watchdog lite and see what is using most cpu.If you find nothing try flashing latest ftf using flashtool, root and debloat.4g/lte could also heat up the phone very fast.

Check out some of the optimized / customized CM Roms with M5 kernel - rock solid combination.
Or just use the included kernel. Your choice of preference, u know!

Did you consider downgrading to kitkat?
I am using kitkat and the phone doesnt really overheat, without any underclocks or anything, unless I play something that is really demanding, such as asphalt 8

By saying the screen got fixed, does that mean the phone's internals were opened? If that is the case than we might have to look for a pysical reason more than a software one.
Besides, in many countries those devices have 1 year warranty, of which is decided and forced by goverments. Since it is your 8th month, you may still have warranty and take your phone to a service (they may blame summer thoguh).

[Request] Best rom in terms of battery life and performance

Hello,
I need rom suggestion(in terms of battery life and performance). I have used Cloudy G2 3.3 with dorimanx. It is a good rom, but sometimes the phone freeze. I also used RESURRECTION REMIX M but this rom has some bugs.

You using this rom in your dilay life? Can you tell a bit about is pros and cons?
sound quality and camera in all CM roms are bad
i like using edited stock roms and desperate rom is the best rom now i did try all roms
desperate rom also is the future of LG G2
battery life is great - camera u have two amazing cameras - too many editing - fast like wind - ui5 and ui4 interfaces - blurring effects - full screen caller photo and recording calls automatically if you want - etc.......

I'm using it as my daily rom on my main and only device.
I'm using the latest release with gapps, customized the gapps installation to remove some apps i don't use.
The battery life is a lot better than stock, it's fast (no hiccups).
I don't think the sound is bad, at least with earphones and during calls, the phone rings louder but it distorts a bit.
The camera is worse in low light, if you take photos with good light you won't notice much difference imho.
Take a look at this picture taken this monday with snap (http://i.imgur.com/yMpKMuF.jpg).
I have two issues that i don't know yet if they are related to CM13 or my account:
- Gmail labels are grey after setup. I have to change a label colour, go to all mail to fix it.
- My Android doesn't show in Android device manager.
So i recommend it.

Correct, just seems to be a cosmetic bug. Even though it says it would be charging slowly on the CM13 lock screen, it actually seems to be charging just as fast as with the stock Lollipop ROM.

Wrong. The battery life on CM13 is worse compared to stock Lollipop.
With stock Lollipop the battery drained almost nothing on standby, with CM13 the battery is draining on standby.
Also, with stock Lollipop the phone never became warm during light usage. With CM13 the phone is getting noticeably warm even during light usage.

I have one question in regards to CM13.
I used it for like a day and it's blazing fast in general use but in games like Asphalt 8 (I just use it as a "benchmark") it stutters and it seems that 3d performance is worse. I later found out that you can set the phone in performance mode which fixes stutters but then all my cores are at 100% and I don't wanna melt the phone and battery.
So is this common with you guys as well? And is there some sort of a fix? Switching to performance mode and back is kinda annoying.
CM13 also lacks video modes like 4K,60fps and 120 fps slow-mo recording.
I am using CandySix 6.0.1 + Kernel from DU

Performance lower after EMUI 9 update

Hi guys, I have a al-10 4/128GB version.
I upgraded it to the Emui 9 via Hicare and after the update I'm facing some problems. As the drastic drop in performance.
After upgrading I performed some Benchmark tests, and the score was well below the expected. Not passing from the 130000 points in the Antutu.
I've already formatted it twice but the problem continues.
Someone is also experiencing this problem?

No not like that but to get clear score we ie to the possible max extent its good to run on clean phone.
after installing and running other apps simultaneously you will get little scores due to resources utilization by them.
Anyway you got good scores for a 4gb varaint.

In order to maintain transparency they introduced performance mode which uses all the available system resources and provides the scores.
I'm getting a lower performance too, in EMUI 8.1 I've achieved 205k on antutu, now I cant get more than 195k even with the performance Mode on. The battery consumption is worse than before too, even with the same apps. I can achieve a Max of 5h SOT with EMUI 9.0. On EMUI 8.1 I was able to get around 6-7h SOT.

Yes, on EMUI 8.1 I was able to get around 6-7 hours SOT with single SIM, 4G on, WiFi on, GPS off, Bluetooth off, no Facebook installed, WhatsApp and Instagram installed (Instagram not running on background).
I'm from Brazil.
Apart from benchmarks,j don't really care what they say, the every day usage of emui 9 feels kinda laggish, compared to 8.1, it's not slow or anything, just not so flow ajimations, a lot fps drops in multitasking, anyone noticed anything similar? And if yes did you do something about that? I even tried the GPU regards,a little better, but the fps drops in recent tabs is there
Yeah, after upgrading to emui9, it feels a bit sluggish. It lags here and there.
I'm gonna do a reset, and see if it helps.
I agree with susano'o and cacingbesar. No really lags, but not as smooth as before...
Before, without the new performance mode, I had the same SOT, with more power (for gaming for example).
I've already done a reset, no improvement.

Touch Lag/Sluggish touch response on COD/PUBG

Hey. I have searched extensively for the solution. Can't find it anywhere. So basically I just bought this phone.
Now whenever I am playing CODM or Pubg. The touch delay is huge, I mean if I swipe anywhere it takes half a second to swipe and in a floaty and Sluggish fashion.
This makes aiming almost impossible ?*
Anyone got any solution? I have tried to downgrade OOS to 10.0.3 from 10.0.8 using EDL method. No luck.
I know this is a software issue. So does anyone have any solution?

The game works butter smooth. It's the touch response I have a problem with.
Meaning touch latency is delayed if that makes sense.
I personally don't have any issues but I've read somewhere that setting the graphics to High helps

I believe OP has low touch refresh rate to 90ghz..where apple 11 and gaming phones has greater than 120ghz which is really important same to samsung highend..OP concentrated on screen refreshment only that is not much useful but also should look into touch refresh rate for gaming and quick touch responses. I fed with OP now
The touch refresh rate of the OnePlus 7T Pro is 1.5x the screen refresh rate meaning it is 135 Hz. That shouldn't be an issue. There are several factors that can play a role in this but I suspect that it comes down to the kernel and poorly implemented drivers. You can try a custom kernel and see if that improves anything. Most custom kernels at least include some kind of upstream and optimisations that can make a huge impact (like Smurf Kernel for me on the OP6 made a huge improvement).

The same applies to the OnePlus 8 pro, though the touch sampling rate is 240 Hz so 2x times the screen refresh rate. I would still try to use a custom kernel to check whether or not it improves the latency issues. Smurf kernel is available for the OP8P which I can recommend. But there are other custom kernels available for each and everyone's liking
As this thread is posted in the OP7TP section I assumed the question was regarding this device. I didn't get that you are talking about the OP8P
This issue common on devices with higher refresh rate, this delay is causing because you could set your screen refresh rate lower than maximum refresh rate (like using 60 fps).
To fix this issue you just need to increase your screen refresh rate to maximum then only your device will use the maximum "touch sample rate".
